I did my installation two weekends ago. Thank goodness for your video!! There were some nuances along the way and I could watch your video at those points in the process to clarify things. Thanks again for doing such a great video. Sadly, I did not have the same success as you did. The foot sensor didn't work for me and after finishing my installation, I have been getting a warning that FSD is disabled because my sensors are failing to communicate and it tells me that Park Assist is not available. More weirdly, it seems like I can not adjust my steering wheel properly. As much as I hope this is some kind of software glitch, I assume I must've damaged something along the way (maybe pulling my wires through the sleeve to the trunk lid?). I have made a service appointment and will report back on the cost of the repair. Some people just aren't meant to do these things, I guess.
I don’t have a Tesla but this was satisfying to watch. Very clear and concise. Subscribed because of your jetson bolt content. Keep up the awesome content!
Damn bro, great job.... Seems hard, but I've done similar installs and once you get going everything falls into place. Companies that make parts for Tesla are pretty awesome with plug and play. Thanks for sharing this install is on my bucket list. Right after my speaker upgrade.
Hi, I've purchased and have had several accessories professionally installed because of your videos so thanks for all you do. I purchased the Model 3 electric tailgate kick sensor from Hanssshow about 5 months ago and I wanted to know the easiest way to deactivate it without having to completely remove the entire kit from my car. I get way too many false positives and often the trunk will open on it’s own when I’m backing into a parking spot or while it’s sitting in my garage.
I've seen a few people online say the power trunk/frunk stop working for them after a few months, interested to find out how it's holding up for you, thanks!
Ciao! I have the new model 3 (2021) with automatic trunk installed already. Is there a way to install just the kick sensor? Maybe you wanna do a quick video for it ;) Your tutorials are simply great! thanks a lot
Ciao! Yes, they make the kit that allows you to install a kick sensor on the refreshed Model 3s. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a newer Model 3. Otherwise, I would be happy to do a video. Thank you.
Great video! Is there an unused or vacant plug on the Hansshow CAN BUS connector harness? I thought I saw an unused plug when you were making the connection to the car CAN BUS behind the console. Thank you.
Great video. Is there a way to route the cables for the struts without removing the bumper? I didn't get the kicksensor. I feel like I coild probably route it through the grommets instead.
Installed version 7 a couple days ago. Your video was very helpful. However, I can’t close the trunk from my app or the screen in model 3. When I open the trunk with the app, I first get a message saying that I “will need to close the trunk manually”. Can anyone help me resolve this problem. Thank you. I
With certain Tesla updates, it sometimes acts funky. What happens if you press on the controls tab of the app and press on the trunk? Also double check your OBD connector.
Thank you Shiva. I checked obd/can bus connections. Were all good. Then, I tried to close the trunk by first opening the “Controls” widget in the phone app, and I am now able to close the the trunk from the phone app. I get the same message saying that I will need t manually close trunk - cancel or Okay”. But I just press “Okay” and it works. Also, I have to press my brake pedal in order to be able to close the trunk from my car’s screen /display. I was told to do this by Hansshow Support via WhatsApp. It did work. Is this normal operation? And my second question is this: I have a vacant plug on the can bus connector plugs that pigtail into my car’s obd plug. Is this normal? Thank you so much for your help, and I hope this info will help others who might encounter the same problems.
Great video. Almost makes me want to try it! Can you use this with the CANScan device that also plugs into the OBDII plug in the center console? Can they be daisy-chained?
How much labor cost for install the tesla trunk electric tailgate kick sensor ? because several service's around me have different labor cost fee, so I want to know basic charges. thank you so much.
Hello! Nice video! I have a v4 hansshow kit. The trunk opens only half way. Sometimes When i fix the problem the controlbox shuts down and goes back to same problem… is it something with the fuse or firmware update? Thank you
Your videos are very well done - good video quality and explanations. Thank you for your effort and time in making them. A problem I had was that one of the wires attached to the tailgate button broke off from the metal pin when I was separating it from the connector. I couldn't find any replacement in local stores. I wonder if Hansshow or Tesla might sell replacement pins or connectors? Or maybe I can just cut off the connectors on both ends and splice the corresponding wires together? Any suggestions?
I am still in the process of doing this , it is somewhat complex, mainly trying to run the wiring. I broke one trunk stop, it was seized, I had to buy deep socket for the 12v supply under seat, the foam tape doesn't want to hold the trunk release
Hey Shiva, love all your Tesla videos! Have a technical question that maybe you can answer. I have 2018 Model 3 that I installed power trunk and frunk about a month ago. I took my car into Tesla for a glass replacement and they also installed the "retrofit FSD" 3.0 computer with Intel Atom processor. Now my trunk won't close from the touchscreen. Frunk works perfectly, and both work perfectly from app and key fob. Any thoughts? Software version is V11.0
My v10 came with an extra box labeled pre gate and I didn’t have wire harness that goes to the tail late, my problem is that I can’t open or close from main display and I can only close from the app buttons out side and Hannshow one are working
Going to be tackling my installation soon. Been watching your video and a couple of others multiple times to prep. I notice you wired yours directly to the battery pack whereas the instructions and other install videos show the power being run to the 12V battery up front. Curious if there is any issue doing it your way. I installed the Hansshow screen a couple of weeks ago and routing the wires through the firewall was an unexpected PITA for me. Would love to avoid having to do it a second time if there's no problem running the power to the pack.
As long as you do the connection right, there is no risk to using the back battery connection. You have to be very careful to not break the continuity, otherwise your 12V battery won't charge and degrade to the level you will require a battery replacement. So, make sure that top bolt touches the bottom terminal. If you see a message on the screen that says "reducing power usage to conserve battery" etc, you know the continuity failed. Mine has been working well all this time and no battery issues. Hope this helps.
@@ShivaSapkota thanks for the info! Not sure what you mean about breaking continuity. If I disconnect the battery pack first and follow what you did I assume that will work. Is there anything else I need to do?
@@jhogoboom Yeah it will work, I just meant make sure the top nut you loosen to insert the hansshow plate in the middle is fully secured and it doesn't create any gap.
Does the car still need to be "fooled" by the Hansshow module for you to use the screen to open/close the trunk? IIRC the earlier versions would send an open/closed signal to the car so that the button in the UI would be available occasionally so you can close it after it's been opened, but you get the open/close animation and all that. Does this really communicate and play with the car or still a hack?
3 questions: 1st is there a way to have tesla professionally add a power trunk? 2nd does hannshow or anyone offer installation? 3rd does this void warranty?
1. No, Tesla doesn't offer that service 2. Hansshow has list of installers on their website and they might have one in your area, please check with them 3. No, unless you damage OEM Tesla parts during the install
I just noticed at 0:50, your left rear bumper light is already burnt out? or had you only installed the right one at this time and saving the left one for the instructional video?
I hadn't yet installed the bumper light on that side. I wanted to do some comparison videos showing the difference of one side having the lights the other side with just reflector. Great observation :) Thank you for watching my videos.
I have installed power trunk opener V10 and I can’t open it with Tesla app or from main display monitor neither open from monitor I can only close it with an app I saw you plugged some T harness to the tailgate I didn’t have any thing like that and from connected wires to the box I have 3 plugs that’s nowhere to plug all males?
No, you would have to wake the car first. For normal shopping or day to day activities, the car doesn't go to deep sleep for a long time so you are good there but for overnight, you will want to first open the app to wake the car up or open one of the doors prior to using the power frunk.
