^This. Anytime I start having trouble on a monster with any weapon/stlye, I just swap over to an aerial GS set. 60% of the time it works 100% of the time.
Best Advice I figured out in previous MH games was "There's no problem a big shield and a long pointy stick can't solve". Does it still apply in this one?
The best thing about Gen and GU is the new bubbly status effect (shown 0:03 and 7:16) that increases your evasion time, but can also cause you to slip and slide.
It's called Striker Style for a reason. Simplified moveset combined with the fact that you have a whopping 3 Hunter Arts at your disposal means you can play aggressively, by jumping right into the fight and going ham. Especially when compared to the more technical Style that is Alchemy.
Haven’t seen Ancient Forest map since MH1...I really miss that map...and weapons like Eternal Annihilator that were actually hard to acquire. Even though I’ve never played a G rank Monster Hunter, I’m looking forward to it on World because I’m working towards nothing when I play World atm. Edit: BTW, this game looks addicting and brings on pure nostalgia.
I'm all about the longsword, so valor style really grabed my attention, but that chaos oil (I think its called that) for the sword and shield is so cool too... can't wait for the release
THE DILEMA, on one hand, Monster Hunter, other hand, summer will be over! Dammit Capcom your supposed to release this stuff before summer starts so we can play it *during summer*
I just started MHGEN to get ready for this game once it comes out on switch, having played mhfu, mh3rd and mh4u before this and using mainly dual blades i am loving aerial style so much, its so much fun. (however i miss the dodge out of a ledge to spin move SO much, and having it as a special move aint any better).
I wasn't sure how I would feel about hunting styles and arts, but it's sort of hard to go back to basic MH combat after experiencing them. Shame World doesn't have a version of the mechanic.
Should do a weapons workshop for all the weapons for this game but include how each stile works on the one weapon you are reviewing. I would find it useful cause I have only played world and your weapon workshops helped me out a lot
I'm not too fond of Hunter Arts, but I love them Hunting Styles! They're like hunter "sub species" (or Guilty Gear XX EX characters), and increases replayability even more. I wish Capcom polished and extended it more, then implemented it in newer titles.
most people that dont come from the original games say this looks so dated. but to me it looks so god damn pretty and polished. most of my time was spent playing the psp games (except for portable 3rd since i didnt import) but this is just a milestone for me. and its still portable! i am so so SO hyped for this
Crimson assassin yeah but in ultimate it was more freely available. The combos were fun. As to in world it's just 1 attack type deal. Had an awesome mount built with the it.
Jon Bobadilla I would think it would be a little on the harder side, due to having to rework the combat system. In Ultimate you start with any styles. I want to say you unlocked them at HR 5. Witch due to the questing system being different, would be a little longer then it took in World. Also I don't think just copying and pasting would work either due to different engines and all that. It could be released way later, but I think it would be more of something added to a MHW2.
billy blansett I forgot all about the sword oils. Prowler mode would be cool to get back. I'd like to add to it by letting the palicos getting to use a second item.
That's the first explanation of Alchemy Style I actually understood, lol. And it's way simpler than I thought. Short and sweet! And it looks like a ton of fun, I wonder how the movesets are limited compared to Striker.
i think the main QoL change im gonna miss from World will be the damage numbers. i just like seeing the exact amount of damage go up as I increase the level of the gear I have.
another thing to note about striker style is that the moves it removes actually converts it into the old-old school style of the weapon a la MHFU e.g. longsword only draw slashing one direction or as mentioned the lack of the back hop
I just want you to know, i usually choose the video with the highest views. But when i see your video i always watch it because youre the best. I love your videos, keep up the good work
yeah and for a lot of weapons it's one of the best styles to have like with sword and shield, charge blade, switch axe, and even great sword has a pretty good one for it. i'd say the only weapon i've used with a shitty striker style is insect glaive.
Don’t know why but I went away from Sword And Shield through world even though it was one of my favorite weapons in 4U, I think the evident bloated damage numbers given to different weapons kind of made it feel weaker. I’m definitely excited for GU and the introduction of oils as well as Chaos Oil to further demonstrate the well rounded ness of SnS
All you guys really need to know is that the GS with the Striker style turns you into a killing machine. Also, do you know if they improved the frame rate in this version over its 3DS counterpart, Arekkz?
I will admit, I was annoyed this didn't come out for 3DS even though the japanese version is there. But, with Rise incoming, I might go on and get a Switch and run though this. REALLY wanna try that Valor GS (that was my first good weapon back in MH1 so part of my heart will always be in it)
The best part of the older MH games are how many different armor and weapons there are compared to the paltry offering of World. Also, Striker style is great on the lance as it speeds up the very slow third attack that the other 3 styles don't, and you only lose the Wide Sweep as an attack!
Just bought me and the wife a switch today with 3 two player games. Monster Hunter is my next planned buy for myself. I am so excited to have world on my Vita and Gen on my switch. I'm over 500hrs in WORLD with breaks, need new monster patterns.
I played a lot of it in Gen. The adept dodge really helps with the poor mobility of the hbg. But valor style is also incredibly fun, specially if you like siege mode. While in valor stance, if you start sieging, you gain increase attack speed and it becomes pretty crazy.
Last MH I played was Ultimate Unite on the PSP I have been out of the loop for a long time but never stopped loving the series since monster hunter on ps2
I'm very curious how Valor Style affects the Gunlance. That's my all-time favorite weapon and any Style that kind of rewards me admittedly turtle-like playstyle I'm definitely all for. Unless, of course, it's less like turtling and more like being reactive.
WolfysEyes Oh you'd be quite happy with Valor GL. It gets stupid. Real quick. Gunlance, from its turtle-y attacks, becomes a monster. When you reload, you have a guardpoint - the exact same guardpoint the Charge Blade has. And it is a quick reload that gives 3 or so shots back. Your shots can get faster and faster each time you shell consecutively. There's even a quick reload, kinda similar to Gears of War? I'm not sure on that part. But check out some of the weapon tutorials of Valor Gunlance. Or even check out some speedruns with it. 10/10
After playing world, i tried out 4u on DS , now i want a Switch just because Id rather have larger screen plus GENu just looks sweet. Side note the weapons in the old games look WAYYYY more crazier than world
I think Alchemy style was created for those who main bowguns and bow&arrow, if you think about how much time it takes to use the barrel it makes sense that Alchemy style would require a user to be at a great distance away from the monster and the only weapons that allow you to fight at far distance are the bowguns and B&A. The only melee weapon that could possibly utilize Alchemy style is the hunting horn.
Bow requires you to be pretty dang close to the monster too. Also, Sword and Shield doesn't require you to sheathe your weapon to start shaking, so it's a prime user for it as well. This is on a personal note, but I don't see why Hunting Horn--the songs already provide tons of support, another layer is wholly unnecessary and if you're gonna be keeping up all your song buffs and Alchemy shenanigans you're not gonna have much time to actually *hit* the dang mosnter.
Not unless someone is always playing with others in multiplayer and are using Alchemy to constantly build up the other player's special attack meter while buffing their stats with the hunting horn.
Mh3u: Ah water combat! This will be a revolutionary idea! Mh4u: ok scrap that, LEDGES! Parkour is the new hip these days! THIS WILL BE REVOLUTIONARY! Oh and add a weapon to have a special technique to jump really high Mhg/u: ok feck it, STYLES! Combat styles! This will be the MOST BIGGEST AND REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE EVER!!!!! Oh and palico mode, cause everyone loves cats!! MHW: yeah fuck it. We're making a new game.
amvdisturbed Depending on the weapon for example switch axe then yes but if you use on GS then no the style that should be used on GS are valor, adept, and Guild
To be honest, I've only played gen and world. And because I feel that world is lacking in monsters, and super bad-ass armor and weapons; this might be my favorite.
Guild style: Basic but good Striker: make dual blades into drills Aerial: Moon shoes Adept: Dodge rolls for days Valor:Anime sheath counter Alchemy: hehe barrel go shaky shaky shake
Striker. Striker basically has the moveset of the weapon when it was first introduced to the series, except for a few moves. It will definitely feel the most familiar for you, though.
I have a Switch, and with it some great games like BotW, Splatoon 2, Pokken Tournament & Super Mario Odyssey, but the one thing that keeps bringing me back to my 3DS is Monster Hunter. Now that this is coming to the Switch, and I can transfer my stuff to Ultimate... welp, goodbye, 3DS x.x
What's the recommended style for hammer? In World, I usually play safe/defensively by circling the monster while charging and strike when there's an opening.
I mean it's all about preference, test the styles and see what "Clicks" with you, since most can be used in various ways. For me, adept was the most enjoyable style for hammer.
I came from monster hunter world I have this but it's hard to adapt to the mechanics any tips for a beginner on this game and what weapon and style would you recommend
Hey so not sure if anyone played Dynasty Warriors but the armor and character at 1:05 looks like Lubu from the dynasty Warriors series. Did that game made a collaboration with Dynasty Warriors series or is that from somewhere else?
Adept was barely a counter since it kept u away from doing constant damage. Monster gets ready to attack > u stop attacking for a few secs to time ur dodges > dodge a decent bit away and hav to immediately run up to it. Which wastes DPS, thts y Valor style is more of the counter type Style. Plus I felt like adept was a crutch and made me weak as a hunter. Only weps tht actually get great DPS with the Style is Gunner and HH.
I just have one question (and yes I started with world ) : I simply don't see the use in utilizing striker style if alchemy does the same , but with no moveset suppression and a cool gimiky mechanic so what's up with that
Arekkz did a poor job explaining the style. Alchemy does limit your moveset. It does so in different, often heavier ways than Striker. Additionally, Hunter Arts charge faster in Striker style as compared to any other style.
Best advice I ever read for generations was: when in doubt, aerial great sword it out
Arkalidor oh yeah. Thats a good point. When In doubt give em a poke.
YES
As a great old-man said;
"You're the one to get it done!"
4u really had the best characters.
The Guildmarm alone made that game worth the price for me
Thank you for that first gameplay clip with Mizu, I needed the laugh.
Brendan O'Neal the only thing that could’ve made that clip better is if the Benny Hill theme was playing over it.
The best thing about Gen and GU is the new bubbly status effect (shown 0:03 and 7:16) that increases your evasion time, but can also cause you to slip and slide.
I love the slipping and sliding animation it has in GU and I'm honestly kind of sad its different and sort of nerfed in Rise.
"Adept Style" aka "Bloodborne Style"
i literally bought my switch just to play MonhunXX. poor thing has been collecting dust since but now its time to hunt! on the go again :)
G rank diablos/deviljho still gives me nightmares :p
I'm all about the longsword, so valor style really grabed my attention, but that chaos oil (I think its called that) for the sword and shield is so cool too... can't wait for the release
28th August needs to hurry up!
Btw, loving your uploads mate, keep it up!
THE DILEMA, on one hand, Monster Hunter, other hand, summer will be over! Dammit Capcom your supposed to release this stuff before summer starts so we can play it *during summer*
Ari_Dexel Naah enjoy your summer out and come back to nice MH at the end of summer!
Arekkz, you need to make a video explaining the terror that is the Konchu. Those jumping into XX(GU) who started with World need to know.
That's why you need to practice pro kicking strats.
oh no..... the Konchu, those little shits XD
Gastodon is a close comparison in world, but nothing comes close to the dreaded conchu
I wasn't sure how I would feel about hunting styles and arts, but it's sort of hard to go back to basic MH combat after experiencing them. Shame World doesn't have a version of the mechanic.
Adept is really fun since it feels so badass to dodge a fatal attack and then counter with a powerful blow
Should do a weapons workshop for all the weapons for this game but include how each stile works on the one weapon you are reviewing. I would find it useful cause I have only played world and your weapon workshops helped me out a lot
I'm planning to revisit them :) I did some back when Generations came out, but I'll be updating them for GU
Thank you @Arekkz Gaming. I really need learn more about Valor Style. I played the demo on Switch with Valor Style CB and I got lost. So hard.
He already did one for each weapon for Generation. Except for the valor and alchemy style, they should be up to date for GU aswell.
Hunting arts gave the game such a versatile amount of one-off skills, and that's the best part of the game from Generations or Generations Ultimate.
I still can't believe that we're actually getting this game, I'm so excited!
Two words for you Arekkz
Alchemy Horn 🎷
My favourite part about generations was the ability to play against really cool monsters I never was able to fight before
I'm not too fond of Hunter Arts, but I love them Hunting Styles! They're like hunter "sub species" (or Guilty Gear XX EX characters), and increases replayability even more. I wish Capcom polished and extended it more, then implemented it in newer titles.

I wish the hunter styles came to world. I miss my sword and shield aerial style.
Well you kinda still have aerial style on World's SnS
Crimson assassin yeah but in ultimate it was more freely available. The combos were fun. As to in world it's just 1 attack type deal. Had an awesome mount built with the it.

I want the prowler mode to come to world. And the sword oils would be nice
billy blansett I forgot all about the sword oils. Prowler mode would be cool to get back. I'd like to add to it by letting the palicos getting to use a second item.
Hellblade Glavenus. I loved and hated that monster the most in "Generation."
That's the first explanation of Alchemy Style I actually understood, lol. And it's way simpler than I thought. Short and sweet! And it looks like a ton of fun, I wonder how the movesets are limited compared to Striker.
Can't wait to start fresh again! *lost his 200 hour progress*
i think the main QoL change im gonna miss from World will be the damage numbers. i just like seeing the exact amount of damage go up as I increase the level of the gear I have.
another thing to note about striker style is that the moves it removes actually converts it into the old-old school style of the weapon a la MHFU e.g. longsword only draw slashing one direction or as mentioned the lack of the back hop
I just want you to know, i usually choose the video with the highest views. But when i see your video i always watch it because youre the best. I love your videos, keep up the good work
I can’t wait to master the Stryker style, I feel it was made for me!
yeah and for a lot of weapons it's one of the best styles to have like with sword and shield, charge blade, switch axe, and even great sword has a pretty good one for it. i'd say the only weapon i've used with a shitty striker style is insect glaive.
Adept Longsword was my absolute favorite in Gen. Can't wait to try out Valor when GU comes out
Don’t know why but I went away from Sword And Shield through world even though it was one of my favorite weapons in 4U, I think the evident bloated damage numbers given to different weapons kind of made it feel weaker.
I’m definitely excited for GU and the introduction of oils as well as Chaos Oil to further demonstrate the well rounded ness of SnS
This absolute legend has chaos oil 3...
Aerial Hammer and Adept Dual Blades are my 2 absolute favs. Can’t wait for Glavenus and Zinogre!!
All you guys really need to know is that the GS with the Striker style turns you into a killing machine.
Also, do you know if they improved the frame rate in this version over its 3DS counterpart, Arekkz?

August is a great month, Shinobi Striker, MonsterHunter GU, My Hero Ones Justice, EVO, SO HYPE
Adept heavy bowgun is my absolute favorite. I love using siege mode and it's something I miss in world. Wyvern hearth just isn't the same.
I played a lot of it in Gen. The adept dodge really helps with the poor mobility of the hbg. But valor style is also incredibly fun, specially if you like siege mode. While in valor stance, if you start sieging, you gain increase attack speed and it becomes pretty crazy.
Skylair I'll be sure to try valor hbg then once the demo comes out. In like 2 months. Otherwise I'll do it in the full game.
valor hbg definitely the best based on my mhxx experience
Generations and GU turned the long sword from a powerful yet simple weapon into a massively powerful weapon with the arts/styles
Best part for me is just the weight of your hunter arts they just feel great to land hits with
I’m just gonna stick with guild style.
Seeing aerial dual blades gameplay makes me really excited for XX :D loved them so much in gen :D
Aerial Light Bowgun is so fun omg
Is your Valor style Longsword demonstration meant to be a Lu Bu cosplay?
It sure does look like it.
Last MH I played was Ultimate Unite on the PSP I have been out of the loop for a long time but never stopped loving the series since monster hunter on ps2
Just got this on the switch and you def helped me pick my poison! Sub earned
Thanks for this. Its very helpful and i cant wait to get my hands on the upcoming switch mhgu xD
I'm so excited and didnt think XX would come to the west.
These hunting arts really change the flow of the game and now I’m crazy hype for what “new moves” entail for Mhw Iceborne.
I think alchemy should have effects based on weapons. Like crit buff on duel swords. Stagger buff on hammer. Status procs on bow
I'm very curious how Valor Style affects the Gunlance. That's my all-time favorite weapon and any Style that kind of rewards me admittedly turtle-like playstyle I'm definitely all for. Unless, of course, it's less like turtling and more like being reactive.

But check out some of the weapon tutorials of Valor Gunlance. Or even check out some speedruns with it.
10/10
WolfysEyes It’s amazing. It tends to have the best kill times out of all of the weapons in the demo; at least from my experience anyways.
Bruh I love your vids keep going could you make vids about breakable Monster parts and which weapon are good for each monster type
Ok, thank goodness I looked this up, because I was using great sword with striker
Arial Greatsword was by far my favorite in Generations.
0:57
Off topic to the video but nice Lu Bu cosplay!
Silver Narga Set + Adept style = Untouchable Ninja XD
After playing world, i tried out 4u on DS , now i want a Switch just because Id rather have larger screen plus GENu just looks sweet. Side note the weapons in the old games look WAYYYY more crazier than world

The Valour style showed off someone looking like Lu Bu. I need to get this game
HBG on aerial is really fun and effective.
Using the aerial style with dual blades and switchaxe is all i ever needed for any hunt could mount a monster 4-5 times if done right
Mh3u: Ah water combat! This will be a revolutionary idea!
Mh4u: ok scrap that, LEDGES! Parkour is the new hip these days! THIS WILL BE REVOLUTIONARY! Oh and add a weapon to have a special technique to jump really high
Mhg/u: ok feck it, STYLES! Combat styles! This will be the MOST BIGGEST AND REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE EVER!!!!! Oh and palico mode, cause everyone loves cats!!
MHW: yeah fuck it. We're making a new game.
Valor SnS Backflips all day everyday
I’m a veteran player I’ve played this game Since it first came out on the psp 💪🏿💪🏿
aerial style, best style
amvdisturbed i prefere valor style
amvdisturbed Depending on the weapon for example switch axe then yes but if you use on GS then no the style that should be used on GS are valor, adept, and Guild
Nicholas marquez valor Longsword is best
There is absolutely no better feeling in MH than the one you get after DUNKING an airborne monster back to the ground.
Aerial Style = Dunking Style
Can't wait, been playing the demo to get used to generations again
To be honest, I've only played gen and world. And because I feel that world is lacking in monsters, and super bad-ass armor and weapons; this might be my favorite.
You don't have to use the insect glave to be up in the air,
I use long sword for alchemy and sword and shield for adept. I use great sword for valor and hammer for ariel
Hope new fans with try this to see what made the other Monster Hunter games great. Plus they can't complain about there being not enough monsters
Dual blade or sword and shield and arial for me
wish hunter styles were in world that would be dope
Guild style: Basic but good
Striker: make dual blades into drills
Aerial: Moon shoes
Adept: Dodge rolls for days
Valor:Anime sheath counter
Alchemy: hehe barrel go shaky shaky shake
Wich play style mostly fits old school psp styles like unite?
Striker. Striker basically has the moveset of the weapon when it was first introduced to the series, except for a few moves. It will definitely feel the most familiar for you, though.
Guild style is the one that has all of the basic moves available for each weapon. So for traditionalists, it's the easiest to use.
Did you do a front flip with a GS then use the monster as a step stone slam him and then mount????? That was badass and I WANT TAHT FOR MHW!!
how do you get aerial style
Dauntless verdict video comin soon?
What’s tha music from the outro
Man I wish this was on 3ds
So adept is like temporal mantel on demand (at least visually)
Aerial Style SnS... too bad I’m gonna move into College on the 26th... Not stopping me from buying it though!
There going to be updated weapon workshops or are we leaving that to gaijin hunter?
What's the recommended style for hammer?
In World, I usually play safe/defensively by circling the monster while charging and strike when there's an opening.
I mean it's all about preference, test the styles and see what "Clicks" with you, since most can be used in various ways.
For me, adept was the most enjoyable style for hammer.
My friend just started playing world on my system but I think she'll like this one as she has a switch. Wish I could gift it
Hey Arekkz, could you do a video on Gen Ultimate's character creation and showcase the different options? There's not a very good video on that.
Arekkz did you hear something about a release date for MHW for PC? anything?
Can you make a guide on the best armor sets for g rank in this game
Can you change styles after choosing them for the first time
yes XD
Did you say for all intensive purposes?
Watching ur videos on this game is helping me to decide on buying a switch or not to play this Still wanna see more about it though
cant wait maaaannnnnn
I admit that adept (Bushido) spoiled me in generations. There’s no better feeling than dodging an attack and delivering a powerful counter.
i want that in world ;/
I felt like Adept style was cheating whenever I used it lol
Adept was barely a counter since it kept u away from doing constant damage. Monster gets ready to attack > u stop attacking for a few secs to time ur dodges > dodge a decent bit away and hav to immediately run up to it. Which wastes DPS, thts y Valor style is more of the counter type Style.
Plus I felt like adept was a crutch and made me weak as a hunter. Only weps tht actually get great DPS with the Style is Gunner and HH.
FirPtl valor looks so boring to me
+Andi Schwarzkopf Same with Adept. It made things seem too easy.
Aerial Switch Axe is the best for people who love mounting monsters
What was the Lu-Bu armor and weapon?
I just have one question (and yes I started with world ) :
I simply don't see the use in utilizing striker style if alchemy does the same , but with no moveset suppression and a cool gimiky mechanic so what's up with that
Arekkz did a poor job explaining the style. Alchemy does limit your moveset. It does so in different, often heavier ways than Striker. Additionally, Hunter Arts charge faster in Striker style as compared to any other style.
Angel - I wonder if the "Trump" card sets will be even better now , specially with axe tempest, demon riot, and trace slash in the mix for SA
Angel ok thanks
Whats the set thats in the clip at 1:00 mark? It looks like a Lu Bu from Dynasty Warriors collab?
Not exactly sure but I think it's the Garuga armor and longsword.
