    Dear Springfield Riders, check out and measure your stock Springfield shield before you do a decision, what size of freedom shield you wanna order. I measured my stock windshield and it was 15" and not 18" what Brian measured in this Video with his stock shield. So in my case, being 6" tall, 34 inseam, it's hard to decide what suits me better, 14"cor 16"? Due to the shipping costs to Germany I will order both sizes and can easily sell here the one which fits worse to me. And thanx to mention ridewithtwoindians I got also a remarkable discount from Freedom shield. They provide great customer support, I can only agree!

    I had the same buffeting on my Springfield and ended up adding a set of JES chrome lower wind deflectors and the buffeting was completely removed. I cut down my first factory windshield then ended up with a 14" freedom shield, loved it! But the lowers are what stopped the buffeting. Now I'm on my 2nd Springfield (deer got the first one...) and I have the OEM lower wind deflectors. They block so much air that it creates a low pressure pocket of air around the rider and the heat will not go away! Hoping to get the replacement lower deflectors from freedom shields or go back to JES this summer.

      yeah definately, the buffeting generally comes from below, i especially feel it on the left side of my fuel tank.

      100%, except I’m riding a Springfield LOL! Either way, yes, it sounds glorious. As a matter of fact, a friend rode my bike yesterday and he couldn’t stop talking about how he always loved the sound but riding it...it even sounded better. There’s something about the big bore kit that just runs it into, as he put it, a fire breathing dragon. LOL. Check out our other videos and tell your friends!

    Now you have a taller windshield and with the ape hanger are the handle bars higher. Now you could go with ultimate seats, which are an inch higher and that inch was the reason you gave it back in your ultimate seat video as you had the stock handle bars and the smaller 12" freedom shield! :-)

    • @TwoIndians
      @TwoIndians  4 роки тому

      Haha, all of those things are correct and don’t think I haven’t thought about that. However the bike is so dialed in I don’t want to mess with anything. I’ve decided that when this cover wears out I’ll have it remade by a custom seat guy like Master Lugo or Alligator Bob.

    Very good and informative Video.....as always :-).............I don't like the stock windshield at all, it produces a lot of buffeting to me. I am 6" tall, so I guess the 16" version should be perfect for me. BUT, as you know, I am still interested in the batwing quick release aftermarket solution with Loud Speaker and maybe built in Nespresso machine as well ? :-). The Wide Open fairing is still my favourite. Best Regards from Germany and happy new Year!

    My original windscreen developed a crack early on so I worked out a deal to pay the difference for a tinted windscreen. When the new windscreen finally came in, they were able to work a deal that it cost me Free.99! So I ended up with the 14" tinted factory windshield for free. @@ridewithtwoindians3983 I measured from the bottom of the parabola of the windshield above the headlight to the top of the shield. 11 3/4 inches. I'm gonna assume my Indian windshield is 12 inches. I already feel like my 12 inch windshield hides too much of my vblog camera.
      Also while watching your video I noticed with both windshields your shirt was just blowing all over the place. That gap between the windshield and the headlight drives me crazy. I tried to fill that Gap with an Indian bag and you know what the buffeting got even worse.
      For me I am down to only one or two paths.
      On my Yamaha Stratoliner I started out with the exact same windshield that you see coming on and Indian vintage but I ended up basically with a Batwing fairing. I can honestly say the Batwing fairing cut all that buffeting out. So much like with my Yamaha Stratoliner I am now on a diligent search to add parts to my bike not provided by the factory.
      "Well Eric why don't you just get the chieftain?" Oh my god get off my butt already. Because I love the fact that the bike can go naked. I love quick release!
      That curve on the top of that windshield you got though that intrigues me.

    I hate the scout windshield options. I keep spending money on different ones and still unsatisfied. I’ve tried the freedom shield with the scout fairing a 10 inch . Looks awesome just too short. And the 14 inch looks weird with the fairing . The 7 inch Indian fairing windshield is worthless. And all the full windshields without the fairing take away from the looks. So no matter what there’s still Unsatisfaction. Which is really depressing because I love the bike so much,, but the freedom Shields are much thicker good Quality and I love the curve the top lip Awesome for the right bike, I wish freedom shields offered half tent half clear.. that would make the 14 inch windshield look better on the scout fairing

      Have you called FS and asked if the could do that half-n-half tint? I think bottom line the Scout is made for around town and it’s never going to be something that’s going to give you good protection. Heck, even the Springfield still give me wind and some buffeting but at least the bike is stable which kinda makes it feel like you’re not getting pushed around so much. Too reduce focus from the windshield too a little more at the fairing.
