Don't circle around right (in your view), the sword has a hitbox on the left side, and if you go on the left (your view) side of the enemy, there's 50% more chance they will miss.
These tips videos might be old. But a thing that you forgot to mention is that sabers/sword swings while on foot work like Calvary sword swings. When you aim the mouse high (or what I like to do, flick upwards while in first person) you raise your sword almost above your head. Aiming at the middle gives the side swipe, and looking down (or flick down) will do a stab. I don’t know if there are any big differences between the attacks. Like swing speeds, damage or anything. But I do know is that stabs do give some extra reach, which I have personally utilize at to attack barely out of harms way from an enemy’s sword. Anyways, I watched all the tips. Even though I know the mechanics beforehand, it was still enjoyable.
Up is good for knocking cavalrymen off their horses Left is good if you don't want to miss at close range Right is good as a general one with good reach Down, if you know how to use it is spectacular
wow, this video helped a lot, all your videos help a lot, but this one made the most change in me, i went from winning 10% of my fights (i got really nervous and despaired and just swung my weapon around), to winning like 65% of my fights (10% being unwinnable fights and 25% i just lost), still, major development, now i am a devastating sapper in maps like the farmstead and other close range maps thank you, love your vids
It's OP against horses,since horses need to hit you from the side (They can't charge into you straight on because their sabres won't hit you),and since the scythe has a long range and its hitbox is directed towards the side you can easily three hit a horse
A strategy and argued secret is that it is effective to hit enemies with only your sword's tip. This extends your hit range and makes it somewhat easier to avoid hits
Pro tip: just get the first hit off of ur opponent the just spam m1. You basically already won if ur opponent dosent know how to block and if they do know how to block then just wait for an oppening and stab em. Also you can dodge axes,swords,lances,knives,bayonets,spears and wood by literally just side stepping them. The easiest weapons to counter are the bayonet,lance and spear sure they have alot of range but they're rather slow and can be easily blocked so you'll be able to close the distance farely easily (and also the knife cuz yeah). Axes,scythes and wooden logs are also pretty easy to counter since they're also slow but i wouldnt recommend underestimating sappers and militias. With sabres and short axes tho i would recommend for you to get the first hit off then just side step every attack that the enemy throws at you
For musicians just play music near team mates who are fireing especially Rifleman. Flag bearers should stay near the team and try not to die. And charge along side them into a melee since you give them a swing speed buff And partisan. Since your weapons are randomized you use tactics that apply to the weapons you get (if you get a knife don't melee with out a friend)
In the old blood and iron competitive leagues. I mained rifle and always flanked with officer support. I remember in a practice tournament. I rushed a whole unit of 6 and i managed to kill 3 of them and get out of it alive then my friend shot a guy in the group then I rushed in and killed the rest. I was so surprised.
Bayonet is really good against Calvary, but I would recommend sword to sword fighting when against other players. Knife is good only for killing low health players (I’ve seen a dude killing 4 injured people with it). Lance and pike is mainly good on a horse because it does more damage but you can keep your distance. Axe is really good for lowering people’s hp and killing them. To counter axe, just try to keep on attacking until they start blocking. If they start blocking, their speed is lowered and you can get a friend to backstab em.

The scythe being having good range but its side attacks arent very effective in my opinion when compared to the upper attack i have played blood and iron and i am sure this is true thats why i consider the side attack very ineffective. Edit:The upper attack is just way better and i never use side attacks. This is related to the hitbox too as side attacks sometimes miss.
Also with weapons like the sword scythe, sledgehammer sapper axe branch there are different animations that have more range than others atleast in my experience, with the sword I always use the animation where you aim your cursor to the right of you which has the longest range. Imo its the best animation in the game for melee fighting
One of my favorite secondary melee weapons is the axe because it is super good for cavalry and hand axe has same damage as saber to a player and it can break barricades and other stuff faster than a saber
The knife can kill someone in 4 hits not 5 and you should have mentioned that the hand axe deals 5 extra points of damage than a sword or saber which is very useful
I'll give you a tip: the strongest cavalryman player can find himself in a difficult position if you deprive him of a horse. but if you are standing proudly in an open field 1 vs 1, then you have only 1 attempt to knock down a cavalryman from a horse or knock out a horse ( of course, if the cavalryman is not a noob )
Now most likely even though i watched the video i still have problems dodging enemy attacks and dealing with the s00p men. Sometimes i can kill the s00p men but get hit in the process sometimes i can win some 1v1 fights but get low hp. But the biggest problem out of the bunch is trying to determine the timing of the hit and range of a melee weapon. Still the video did help me increase he chances of winning some fights.
Rock Paper Scissors Rock-the heavy weapons (axe) Paper-long boi (pike) Scissors-normie (sword) Axe beat sword because of damage, sword beats pike because of speed, pike beats axe because of range. Other attributes that affect this chain: Skill Luck
Time for trivia ! Hammer : There used to be a feature where it could instakill, but it has been since removed for good reasons. Branch : The absolute OPiest weapon in the game, there also used to be a feature of instakill and not slowing you down but it have been removed since. Sword/sabre/handaxe : F*ck off, they both have the same hitbox and range, stop believing in myths.
Don’t forget about environmental advantages. And dodging. Trees, rocks, buildings, etc, can all be used to deflect attacks with a little luck and a little more skill. Dodging can also be effective with the same properties of both luck and skill and can save your arse. Apparently, you can actually side step ranged weapons the way you do with a charging cavalry using the same properties of luck and skill (I was not aware of this until recently.) The difference is that a cavalry can still hit you if you side step do to the weapons hit point I guess. you can usually get past if the enemy does not turn fast enough, and the result is seen in this video. A life saver if your on red health but facing an unskilled opponent. Back to using the environment, the shooting through trees an walls glitch has not been fixed yet so go ahead make use of it while ya can. And, 2 things that have saved me life the most, is attacking a player from above that is trying to get to you (This can be done by standing on the large chevs, by climbing onto a building which is usually done by glitching your way on top of an open door or if a sap builds a way, or just by being in an elevated building like the farms in farmland or the ruins in road and snowy forest.) The other I mostly use if I’m being charged while behind cover or being chased toward cover. I’ll use a tree or sap building (must be a decently tall building like barricade or gabion etc.) and let them hit the objects own hit box before countering. This works well in all situations even if you are at red health.
If any of you like blood and iron, but would like something like it and have money to spend, I recommend War of rights, its on Steam in EARLY ACCESS, and is in Development Expect Crashes and bugs and glitches and Sub optimal performance but the Graphics is 10/10, It has realistic maps and reloads and such, And people in the game are encouraged to do teamwork because of bonuses and if you like Volley fire expect it in here! And BTW its ALPHA/Early access on Steam.

I have a pretty vague memory about it because stress my team gave me by camping, just camping, every single one of them, i'm the only one charging that time, one other just died being shot at the bushes Maybe it takes more than 6 sec, but it's very quickly ended

I think Scythe is super bad. Everyone time I've used it, I can't get a single kill with it. It's hitbox is too small.
