I know one of the biggest criticisms of this show is the reveals being figured out too easily but it was honestly so refreshing. The one thing I hated about the original PLL is after the first A all of a sudden you would get these random as hell A’s who are completely irrelevant. Remember Spencer’s random twin that came out of no where in the last season? I love that this show hid A but still lead us on the journey to figuring it out and making sense. Also helps with rewatch value

Think the big big reveal of the season, the A reveal, wasn't that easily guessed tho so there's that at least. STOP READING NOW THOSE WHO DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED, but out of all the theories I saw, NONE of them were guessing fuckimg Clanton, like-? It made sense too at least. Someone who's been involved in the plot but not too much so the audience didn't suspect them, his position as principal gave him a lot of opportunities to do what he did, solid motive. It was out of nowhere for me, but the good kind of out of nowhere.
I pray that they don't go the route they did with the original show with the new A not making much sense. With Clanton captured and locked up, Archie on the run, Rose Water's status unknown, there could be more people related to Angela that would take over the game since the mom's weren't exactly punished.
Marlene must have friggen learned her lesson after that ring around the rosie mess she did with the first Pretty Little Liars lol.
I have to agree. I mean it’s just fun to do the whodunnit. And its better if the reveal actually makes sense and has been built up rather than just being info dumped with characters who didn’t exist five episodes ago or weren’t even hinted towards.
Even with plot twists. They shouldn’t be twists for the sake of being a twist, it should be shocking but in a manner where you then remember and realize that yes that actually was hinted here or foreshadowed there. And that should be the goal.

The ONE thing that bothered me the MOST about this whole series is that Millwood is supposedly pretty close to Rosewood (since I and T could drive there) and they mentioned Radley (the hotel) and Aria and Erza were hinted at (or name dropped?) but the girls didn't mention the OG A????
Like "hey do you guys remember some years ago when a group of teenagers in Rosewood got texts from someone called A and it turned out it was a classmate of theirs? Yeah, when one of the girls were presumed dead for like 3 years? And theeeen they got kidnapped a few years later by another A that turned out to be the sister of the girl that was presumed dead?
Huh, strange that that happened, that A was such a big thing that happened to them and now someone is doing something simillar to us.

i think its a different universe where the location and characters of the og exist but the storyline and events do not just so they can make references to it for the og fans

I sort of like the idea of of them being in the same universe, but I think it ended up very half-arsed and lazy. I don't mind a reboot but if it is in the same universe they should've at least mentioned the OG A situation.

I think in the other spin-off, The Perfectionists, Alison and Mona mention that since they were minors at the time, the records around A and what they went through are sealed, so maybe they’re using that logic to explain it.

@@samcanaletv Yup! Though I'm curious if this show will borrow bits from the book, musical, and movies or if it will follow only one interpretation. I say this because in the original book, she is in cahoots with the Phantom, but never actually sees or knows him (she mainly gives him money and does odd jobs for him. He also kills people who the opera managers try to replace her with so they have to let her keep her job).
In the original stage musical she has no connection with the Phantom. And in the movies and filmed musicals she works with him a bit and is more malicious about it. So I'm curious what role she'll take in the show if it turns out she is connected to leatherface/A.

So, the question has been raised multiple times about why A cares about karen and kelly. I think this has to mean that they have another connection to the events of 1999. Perhaps Sheriff Beasley had some link to Angela, I'm thinking he was the person who assaulted her
But then this raises another question for me, which is why does A/Leatherface seem to care more about karen than kelly? The person who was pushed at the dance was pushed because they were assumed to be karen. But when we start wondering if karen and kelly are actually switched, A goes after kelly but leaves her alone until she insists she's actually kelly. So we're under the assumption that A wants to harm Karen, but not kelly. If them being targeted because of something their parents had done relating to the events of 1999, why only focus on one of their children?

I don't know where else to put that theory, because I waited the whole season and it didn't happen. But! I still firmly believe that Wes is Ezra's brother Wes! The age, the looks. The desire of involvment with a younger woman lower on a vertical of power. Many people noticed that Wes and Tabby here is a modern more honest re-telling of Aria/Ezra story, but could this be because of their relation?

Speaking of horror/thriller references, I love the connection between Faran’s storyline with performing Swan Lake and struggling with her mother putting unrealistic expectations of perfection on her, and the movie Black Swan that also deals with some similar themes. Even if it wasn’t intended that way, I think it’s a really cool reference
The fact that Mallory acted out the part of Kelly acting as Karen to the principal in such a fantastic way that it made the viewers doubt that it was Kelly rather than Karen even though she keeps saying that she is Karen, is absolutely oscar, grammy, emmy, nobel peace prize worthy.
Also please no spoilers in the replies, I just finished episode 2. I haven't watched the full series yet.
I've had my eye on chip for the longest time cause I DO NOT trust a man that nice who is always called the nice guy and who now all of a sudden likes Imogen after already liking Tabby. Also, as a PLL vet as well, I quite simply trust no one and nothing.

Literally, the minute he started talking to imogen I had to pause and take a breath. I didn’t want to believe it and I was rooting for him for as long as I could. But once he made a connection to both girls after they thought they were r worded by the same guy ? Yeah I was like no no no pls no. There’s only like two uncrusty men left, I don’t trust Shawn too much anymore. He’s going to have to relearn that in season two, he just put me off so much at the end idk. Hanna was already pregnant at the end of PLL. Aria and Ezra had established problems with fertility so makes sense.
I agree that Sheriff Beasley def assaulted Angela! It would make sense why “Kelly” started getting A texts too, bc her dad was apart of the original sin. The only thing that doesn’t add up is that he’s obviously a bit fruity 💅🏼

One other thing of note: The letter left for Elodie which said "Meet me in the HAll of Mirrors" - the A in Hall is NOT written in red marker. Every other letter and message from A has emphasized any A that appears in the message. Elodie's letter does not.
I also think it's interesting how the parents are getting the brunt of the targeting and our main cast seems to be protected more than anything. I think this goes deeper than just someone wanting to avenge Angela. Perhaps what caused Angela to be an outcast in the first place was cruel or mean behavior that was encouraged by Angela's mom. I think "A" wants to get rid of bad parents more so than get revenge. A sees the main cast as good people but sees their moms as being corrupting influences.
yeah I kinda thought after Karen’s death that the “one bully dead” was actually talking about Davie; I feel like the other “five” could be the other liars’ moms and sheriff beasley..? idk for sure bc I’m only on episode 3 tho😭

i kinda like mike’s theory of wes being the mastermind behind A a little bit better than the actual reveal bc A. Wes is a freak and i feel like he would wanna scare tabby into his arms basically or blackmail her into getting closer w him, and if he knows abt Chip he would wanna punish him. B. while i think clanton was a good A bc he connects the timelines, the whole ‘dad not wanting to connect w their kids’ trope is getting RAMPANT in this series. C, having angela have a twin brother who we have heard NOTHING ABOUT at ALL from ANYONE (besides in the waters house where his height was on the doorframe) is soooo cliche, esp the whole ‘he’s deformed so no one knew about him’ like pack it up quasimodo we have seen this trope in a million things it’s not new and it’s degrading to ppl with deformities. ppl w facial deformities are not monsters they’re just people who didn’t develop physically like everyone else did bye. and physical deformities =/= mental incompetency and i somehow feel like this series is leaning toward that for archie. plus i hate that eddie name dropped riverdale as a town nearby and angela’s supposed brother’s name is archie it’s giving me the ick if there is a crossover i’m leaving. i’m also kinda mad we didn’t get to see archie’s face like for all we know clanton could have been lying abt who archie is so idk if i think lestherface is really angela’s supposed brother archie. unrelated, i think it’s weird to find out that davie really did s-word and wrote an A in blood on the wall. like why would she do that? to let the ‘99 liars know that A was back since it seems like they maybe dealt with A before? idk i’ll be interested to see how they explore A & the moms interactions more in s2. lastly i called it by ep 4 (? whichever was the female gaze one) that chip had been the one to assault tabby and maybe imogen as well but when he asked if he and imogen could pair up for the baby thing i knew immediately it was him bc he was being SO sus abt it. i knew from the start that there was something off w chip bc he was so clearly pining after tabby and was just being a freak abt it idk call it my intuition. but chips face when sidney came in and accused wes of r-wording tabby?? now that was beautiful we love to see an SA-er get scared 💛

I think it's interesting that Leatherface most often kills people who the Liars would have motive to get rid of. I feel like he's setting it up to frame them as a way to get back at their moms for whatever happened at the Y2K party, and the way he's making sure the moms know it's payback is he's reminding all of them of the party and dropping all these clues. I also think it's a Scream situation and there's definitely two killers, two As.
and they just straight up threw that oportunity out. its almost like they gave what the fans wanted on the "aesthetics" and overall vibes and smaller plots of the show, but when it came to the A reveal they pulled a Riverdale and got a ranodm character to be the mastermind and a Chic kind of guy to be the gargoyle monter idk im pissed

My theory: Chip is A, ANGELAS BABY. Angela was a teen preggo (like our girlie Imogen). Sherriff Beasley is the person who assaulted Angela. Leatherface is Chips Uncle which is why they are working together. I feel like Chip assaulted Imogen and wanted to get her pregnant (like his mother was). The only way this works tho, is if Angela didnt actually die in the warehouse, but you know the PLLCU loves to pull a fake death moment. This would make Sherriff Beasley Chips father and the twins, his half sisters. This could explain why A is targeting the twins at all.

I think "Kelly" is actually Karen. Karen knew about Scoliosis. Karen does that mouth open thing, and in the show they zoomed on her mouth when she did it. Karen also wears heals while Kelly wears flats.

I think it's also possible that she is Kelly trying to replicate Karen, because she's jealous of her sister. She's seen saying things like "I'm not enough" or "why can't I be talented" so I think she was jealous of Karen and felt like their parents and peers valued her more than they did Kelly. So now Kelly is trying to be more like Karen in an attempt to get all the attention her sister used to get.

As soon as Kelly pretended to be Karen in the second (I think or first) episode to talk to the principal I immediately knew that probably meant it wasn’t the first time they’ve done some sort of switch like that. Also in the original pretty little liars books that happens with Alison and Courtney her twin who would like to pretend to be her.

I don't think Chip is leatherface or A but In am genuinely concerned he's the guy who assaulted Tabby or Imogen, or both of them since they laid that groundwork.
The subtle foreshadowing with him while they've been pushing the idea of it being one of the jocks so hard makes me uneasy, and I think him immediately calling himself the father at the adoption clinic was probably done on purpose.
Clocked pretty early on because of the "its always someone you know, but it showed/mentioned him going to the party with her a few episodes in. And he always seemed too good to be true, an act he put on especially when he said "I'm not boyfriend material" and the stunt he pulled filming her movie.
Plus it cutting to him giving Tabitha a weird look when she mentioned the possibility of Greg being drugged while she was directing the Psycho scene.
