- This video is kind of from the vault. I had a hard drive corrupt I had to get fixed, and this footage was on there! I absolutely love unique products that allow you to do things you technically should not be able to do...like bake on a cooktop! I think you guys will like the Omnia Oven.

Doc is back with a vengence. I appreciate the way you introduce products as only for info not as youre pushing it. Before you said you were not sponsored. Hope that is still true. Keep true, Doc. Many of us are your true fans.
Would love to see a comparison vs coleman oven and regular cast iron dutch oven and this. Keep up the good work.
I’m so happy you reviewed the Omnia oven. It’s great fun to use and baked goods come out perfectly. I like to use it with my Svea.
Yes, please make more food with this oven!!!
I really enjoy these cooking videos, however I would really like to see Paleo recipes personally. We don't do dairy or grains at home, and it would be cool to see how that translates to maybe making Flatbread on the trail perhaps with almond flour or otherwise. As always I still really look forward to and enjoy your videos!
I've used this Oven on my sail boat for years..do yourself a Huge favor and attach a thermostat to your lid in order to bake precisely. Also buy their rack and inserts.
When our society in Israel was poor, and people did not have ovens in their homes
We had what was called Wonder Pots, which were as you have shown made out of aluminum
Cakes, stews, pudding were all made in these
You can still buy them for stove top baking and they cost about $10
Hello Ernie. This was an interesting video and having the ability to serve baked goods in the outdoors opens up the menu in so many wonderful ways.
A British channel suggests silicone bunt cake pan sleeves for a lot less than $25. FYI. Also, keep an eye out for one at garage sales & thrift stores.
Yes, more baking in the big O, please.
I’ve long been interested in the Omnia, but the price for what it is, is too high for me. I made my own using an old Bundt pan & a silicone Bundt pan I already owned. I had to fiddle around for a lid, but I finally found a suitable one at a yard sale. The base was the trickiest part. I finally had a friend use his Dremmel tool to cut the bottom out of another old pan and we cutoff the handle. Works great and costed me $4 plus 2 cans of beer. I cook outside
I must add, try it with the trangia gas burner - I use them both for 4 wheeler and motorcycle camping - desserts are a snap
Love the Omnia….miss not having one. Pot pies kick butt in the oven. Runza……OMG Runza between store bought pastry layers…..to die for.
Some 70 years ago, my parents had a small holiday caravan and a box-like oven that sat on top of one of the calor gas burners of a two-burner hob. My mother made Yorkshire puddings that rose magnificently and roasted joints of meat in the oven and the results were as good as at home. I have often thought of buying an Omnia oven and you have made me think about it again. Thanks for sharing and yes: please do more demonstrations with your Omnia.
Kind of the same principle as the vortex I have for my weber kettle grill. I have been tossing around some ideas for a cheap, compact, home built camp oven. Biggest issue is keeping everything food safe. I like that design but fuel source is gonna be variable too. With the open tube something like hexamine could be a problem.
I have been using a food safe stainless steel Dog Bowl and have successfully baked bread and dinners..! If you haven't seen this simple and clever adaption, check out Mark Young from Canada video.. I don't like that this is oven is made from aluminium and is pretty pricey..
Some biscuits and gravy ❤ i see firebox homie always getting down as well
Thanks PaleoHikerMD for demonstrating the Omnia Oven. I ordered one from Amazon along with the rack and the silicon molds to facilitate fast and easy clean up. Plan to use it with my rocket stove being its heat source. The Omnia is very light weigh and will be easy to carry and store when I order the storage bag. Thanks for the link to the storage bag.
Can you do a tour of your updated tool shop / work shop .
Thanks for the info! I've been wondering about these for years. I just may get one now for camping!
Some videos on different fuel sources would be very helpful. Propane, iso canisters…
Love trangia and omni oven with heet. Confused about products of combustion being absorbed by food in omni oven since due to toxic heet??? May use gas burner option instead of alcohol burner???
Clone of old Israeli "Wonder Pot" !! But the silicone liner is new and great idea.
Yes please more cooking in the Omnia oven ! Thanks in Advance! Cheers from Oz 👍 ⛺️
Do a video of your complete camp out kit!
My mom was from North Carolina. She would sometimes make what she called "bean burger stew and spoon bread" It was basically a baking pan filled with a mild chille that us kids would eat with cornbread batter spooned in dolops on top (as opposed to evenly covering the entire top). I'm thinking my favorite chille receipe (using maple syrup) with spoon bread on top! My mouth is watering already!
It’s something I would keep in an emergency to cook with. But you make it look easy as usual. That’s why I follow you. And yes I would love to see more cooking with it!!!!!!
SEMPER FI
I like the concept, with a family of five, we never camp light😊,but this might be a replacement for some of my Dutch oven use.
I enjoyed the video,it seems to be a nice oven. It is much to big for my personal needs. I do love the concept however.😊
Looks interesting. Compared to FIREBOX BAKING SYSTEM?
I have one and LOVE it! Well worth it and highly recommend it. Thanks for another great review!
Good video... i like the different direction youre going. please keep reviewing different types of gear. I love the variety.
I was wondering if it would work on a titanium wood hiking stove?
Ive got mine before Christmas and haven't really used it too much. I kind of thought it used quite a bit of gas to get hot. Need to experiment more aha
I would like to see you try out a reflector oven for a campfire - I think you would like it.
Man that’s awesome! I like that.
Great video. I recently bought the Omnia stove top oven to use on a Trangia 25. Stainless base wobbles around a bit on the Trangia, so I added a round stainless grill & problem solved. Works with the metho burner, simmer ring fully open. Better heat control with Trangia gas burner. Thank you for sharing.
NICE REVIEW...THANKS!
OK, Ernie, you got me! Mine came today, will try it on a picnic tomorrow.
I like it. Family dinner options would be great. I’ve made a lasagna type dish with Italian sausage, ground beef, sauce, cheese and penne and baked it in the oven. Definitely a cold weather meal when baked inside, but with an outdoor oven, sign me up 😊
Chicken, rice, vegetables and sauce would be another option.
Thanks for sharing.
Cal-zone pizza? ^^ it is called Calzone, like Cal-zoh-nuh (with a sharp z)
Cool thanks for sharing
Pineapple upside down cake.😋
I bet if you put sand or rocks in the base it would improve rhe thermal mass and help discourage scorching.
Thanks for this! I have had an Omnia for awhile now and am looking forward to using it more than I have. Would love to see you cook some interesting recipes! A breakfast casserole would be awesome.
I have taken crescent dough triangles and wrapped gruyere and prosciutto in them and baked those up and they were tasty.
Thanks for the video
I would love to see more on the Omnia, thank you for doing this video
That's really cool, might have to be added to my camping supplies.
Good review , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Hey! I personally use a titanium billy pot and a steaming rack with pebbles under it to dry bake - and obviously to steam bake as well. Could work as well with a SS Billy like the zebra or the Tatonka Billy pot.
Check out backcountry cuisine. He’s got a DIY for a backpacking Oven. It’s great m
Thanks for the real world review-I always wondered if it was ligit…
That looks like a great item to own. I made an oven to run on a gas ring out of an old deep fat fryer with a ceramic tile and wire mesh in the bottom. The Omnia is obviously far superior 👍 and your calzone looked lovely.....good enough to eat 👏
Pricey but handy.
Great video. yes more cooking in the oven. Be blessed. Oh I will NOT watch shorts.
Looks like a Turkish cooker. I have something similar minus attachments. Will line it with foil and play with some more food.
Definitely sharing this one with my wife
The silicone mat is AWESOME if you make cheesy NACHOS
Looks like a DIY waiting to try. LOL!!
Nice, thanks for the video.
Hey Ernie, luv your channel and this content. As the stove guru, is there a big difference between non stick and hard anodised pans? The smaller camp stoves do have hot spots. Does it make a difference?
Is it safe to bake foods in aluminum?
Bake some poppyseed bread in there!
More recipes please! Thank you…
Love the Omnia oven! Have you tried the Coleman oven? Mine folds down for storage. I have made meatloaf, cornbread, cinnamon rolls, monkey bread. I have also burned my fair share of biscuits! That would be great to see, how to make cook biscuits w/o burning. Very interested in trail cooking. Keep up the good work Ernie! love your content.
Great video Doc (as usual). Wondering if you have plans to also evaluate other "camping" ovens on the market. I've been considering getting one but the options are not too convincing in my opinion. This one is interesting but the round shape of it is limiting. If someone knows of an alternative, please comment below. I've been considering the square "Coleman" but the reviews are not too convincing either. Love to read if there are other alternatives out there.
Trangia using alcohol burner and omni oven lid will put soot into food???
Like the oven idea! Maybe a pound cake?
Any idea how long it took to bake the calzone and how much gas was used? Both factors influence the decision to add this to the camping repertoire.
Hi Ernie! What knife have you got there?
More please sir?
Is it feasible to use wood stove with this product?
I’ve heard the omnia oven is supposed to work with the Trangia. Can we se a omnia/trangia meal?
Hello Dr. Ernie and thanks for the video. Very cool product! I'm wondering if an alcohol stove would taint the flavor of the food baked. I would never use an Esbit heat source.
Esbit could enhance the flavor of a tuna casserole...
It is used quite often with the Trangia burner and cooksets.
Nice! I wonder if it would cook an apple pie.... ?
Thank you for an intresting video.
Have you tried the Omnia stove on a Trangia? Any one else tried it on a Trangia with fuel burner or gas burner? 9:32
I use my Omnia with a trangia 27 and gas burner, I wouldn’t use it with an alcohol stove due to the soot residue it would leave behind and possibly contaminate your food - I have baked breads, calzones, pasta, blueberry muffins, biscuits - I also have the Coleman camp oven that folds flat - with the Coleman you will want to flip the biscuits half way through to prevent burning, with the omnia just watch the temp gauge and approximate cook times
@@justinenis1282 Thank you very much for valuable tips. Did not consider the soot issue. So gas burner it is.
Good lord this whole thing should be 19.99😊 not a penny more
In Italy we have the same thing, it's called "Fornetto Versilia" but it has fewer accessories. It's cheaper and there are 3 sizes
Thank you for the video
What is the smallest size? Is it smaller than the one Ernie showed?
@@JonJaeden terre are 23 and 26 and 28 centimeters in diameter
@@francescachiappa Thank you
@@JonJaeden you are welcome
Too high of probability for causing cancers cooking just once weekly on gas with that stove especially with meats. Yum yum cooking any pie on hot ashes / wood fire though. Thinking the Omnia Oven might be a good match for the cooktop wood stove.
Meatloaf please! lol
Dough from a can? The horror, the horror!
$180 Amazon. No way!!!
Use it on a trangia
I hope there is a warning not to use with an alcohol burner. With the wide variety of additives in the different fuels, fumes could be an issue.
I thought the same, I use mine only with propane and at home on the stove. I never use my regular oven anymore, this is much easier to clean and everything I’ve made came out perfectly.
cake
someone forgot to set the manual focus depth of field and left it on auto....
His entire channel is like that, every, single, video. 🤦♂️
my hard drive goes bad... HAMMER!, get a new drive & restore backup
I've got a backup & backup of the backup, no worries!!!
nah... I don't see taking something like this camping
179.00? Using your link.
I bet you could make an epic pound cake in that, just sayin...
All these people criticizing “Paleo” when you’re cooking bread. Lmao do yourselves a favor and and look up a dictionary.
How about baking bread from scratch. You don’t need to show everything, just the forming of the loaf , skip the rises then bake it.
Who wants to bake in aluminum? I don’t.
Replace with stainless steel or titanium, bundt pan?
pls cook some more that would be great. but that storage bag is a horrible color
bake anything without an oven... with.. an oven.. rivetting.
Cool gadget if you're into baking unhealthy grain based stuff.
Exactly. This is not exactly “paleo”. Total fail.
You can do all kinds of meals not necessarily grain based.
Staple food kin Crack yer teeth!
“Paleo” hiker talking about baking. 🤦♂️ Maybe look up the description of paleo…👎
Paleo - older or ancient, from Greek palaios ‘ancient’.
For your information Paleo is NOT a diet. Lmao. Dictionary my friend.
It's a buntpan.😂😂😂😂
"Without an oven"??? It IS an oven FFS! LOL
