  • Here I am trying out an "infinity pool" setup using a bungee. I wanted to do this last summer during the first covid lockdown but these pools were out of stock back then.
I'm using a 3x2x0.75m Intex swimming pool. The length of the pool feels sufficient for me. However, I'd really wish it could be a bit deeper as my front crawl catch is constantly touching the floor (apologies for the dropped elbow). The water also gets a lot choppier than a normal pool due to the reflection of waves, making it a really good workout.

We've done this too. Ours is 3 metres long and 2 metres wide and 33 inches deep. If you get a straight snorkel, it is much easier to do crawl as you can breath without needing to twist(no trough to breathe in when tethered as you dont have forward momentum to produce it).

Thanks for the video, I just started exploring this activity, and I was unsure about the pool deep, I'll try to get a 1m deep if I decide to get one.

170cm. Main issue is pool is very shallow. I wish I had bought the 4m prism pool which is a bit deeper but it was out of stock back then.

This is 75cm deep and my hands touch the bottom often during the catch phrase. It's the deepest one i can find (others pools of this size and a bit deeper are out of stock in the UK until 2022). It's kind of ok but I'd suggest get deeper (1m?) if you can find one.

      Hi
Can I reconfirm when you mention it’s depth is 75cm - is that the maximum depth of water in the pool or the total pool height including the frame height ? I was thinking of buying an intex 4.5x2.2x0.85m but the actual max water depth is 75cm ? Am guessing yours is the intex 3x2x0.75 m so am guessing your actual max water depth is 0.65m ? So mine would be about 10cm deeper which might hopefully make a difference doing the freestyle as I don’t want my hands to keep hitting the bottom ? Cheers

@@paulnicolas172 75cm is the frame height. Water depth is approx 65cm. I'd have bought a deeper one (4m length) had it been in stock. With this model, I touch the bottom every few strokes. Given the small size, you'd create waves while swimming so the actual depth changes momentarily. Overall I find this pool good for practising kicks but not so much for arm techniques.
Swimming stationary also gives you more water resistance, so a countermeasure is to hold up a fist while doing the catch. This makes it less hard on the shoulders and can also reduce touching the pool.

@@huskykhtam Okay really appreciate the reply. It doesn’t look like your creating waves much when you do the strokes to be honest though . Do you think if I buy the intex 4.5x2.2x0.85 m pool do you think it would eliminate the problem of touching the ground as much ? I mean your pools max depth is 65cm and the above would be 75cm so an extra 10cm room ?
