This gives me nostalgia of the first time I saw Les Stroud's Survivorman as a kid. Your primitive survival skill is just unparalleled by anyone I've seen who makes these types of videos. I truly wish you had a production crew so I could see the maximum potential of your skills and knowledge. Hats of to you sir.

Late stoneage technology was still advanced enough for cultures not just to survive and but to actually thrive. It's engineering and art combined with ingenuity. This is the most impressive and genuine survival clip on UA-cam.

I saw a video of a guy filming himself on teaching people how to get out of quick sand, alone by himself in the middle of the woods. Needless to say he didn’t make it and that iconic movie shot of the hand sticking out reaching for something while slowly sinking is 100% accurate and gives me chills now.

@@ClayTallStories Thank you the interessting video. But on 17:23 you are wrong. Horse Hoof Fungus is not Chaga. It is also known as Tinder Fungus. But Chaga is something completly different. Chaga grows in cold climate zones and not only looks very different, it grows different and is not usefull for making fire. It is a very healthy fungus tho. Also Tinder Fungus is quite healthy, bc it is anti-inflammatory and therefore usable for tea making.

Just to let foreigners know, the passion fruit, figs and peaches, gooseberries, walnuts, and others are not native plants, these are plants that have gone wild out of someones homestead. New Zealand had VERY few fruit or vegetable native plants, before Europeans brought things from overseas. And what we did have, modern people wouldn't recognise as viable food, they are nothing like modern fruit. And most of what we did have needed a LOT of careful preparation to take poisons out of it. The Kawakawa berry he ate to begin with, five would give you strong stomach cramps and the runs, 20 would give you CRIPPLING pain.

"This is The Life for me!" he says, there on the water on a beautiful sunny day, sailing his own private raft chilling (enjoying the fruits of his hard work) and doing some fishing. Cost of all that: 0$. Just a stone and some wood is all... and a sane brain, that most valuable tool of all. Invaluable. And of course a lot of patience to use those extremely basic tools to build better tools and utilities.... He's showing us how "simple" it actually is. You gotta be an engineer (therefore the necessity of a working brain) but man was born with a brain so we were all meant to be good at engineering stuff from the start.

Just randomed across your channel, and MAN I love it. I thought I'd watch maybe a few minutes while eating dinner, but instead I watched all of it and subscribed. You might be older than me, but I'd wager you might be living much better than me. I'm newly inspired...
    Thank you

Not one to ever comment, but Clay, you're a champion bud! Quintessential Kiwi, but more importantly.....you're real! I truly appreciate the efforts you put into your videos, and again, being real with what you have to say and put out there. It goes a long way for me personally, and I'm sure you're having the same impact on other viewers. Much love
