You are the only comparison I saw between these two string trimmers. Thank you and you made the video very informational and easy to understand the differences. The old model is on sale with the DCBL722P1 blower so I'm going to pick one of those up I think
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Great test. I am debating between these two models and your video comes in handy. Let me know please if there are other differences or cons not mentioned in the video. I did see the follow-up 4 mo later and this what I got: + less vibration + lighter - rectangular handle - taller spool base
I just checked out the 922 and like many others have noted,it's HEAVY and front end heavy to boot. That silly fold in half idea made it a pita ergonomically.
Does the safety button feel weird at all being on the side of the newer trimmer, or did u not even notice it being an issue?? Thanks for the video, awesome
I just picked up my string trimmer at Home Depot which I ordered online. Took a few days to get it in. When I opened up; the box and took it out, the protective guard had a small baggie attached to the inside of it, but nothing inside. Believe it or not, that baggie contained the 2 screws to lock that flap onto the trimmer. Nothing inside the box anywhere, so I called DeWalt about it, as the manual is total crap at identifying anything. In fact, it is a mishmash of French and English. The photos frequently require you to look back a few pages to even identify what part they are talking about. DeWalt said they would mail me the screws, but it will take 2 weeks to get them in. If I return this trimmer, it would cost me more in gas than buying those 2 screws to complete my assembly of this unit. Well, the parts manual listed the screws, but when I went to Ace Hardware, they could not find any that would work by what the manual stated. Gaaaaa! Any rate, taking it to Ace tomorrow to see if the can find anything to fix this brand new POS trimmer. Hopefully it works when I finally find the correct screws. :-( A buyer should not be put through this crap, but obviously their QA is not up to par right now.
Hey, i just started using my dads old version, and it seems well i am using it the string wont come out when im hitting it against the ground. I had to manually keep fixing the string. did you ever have this problem?
Mine is a DCST925 model. What is the difference between it and your model? Do you have any idea as to the size and length of those two screws to mount that protector plate to the head of the trimmer? Thanks.
just bought the new one yesterday after my 2 cycle just up and quit on me... AGAIN. I swear I hate 2 cycles SO MUCH, lol.... hopefully this will work well enough I never have to touch another 2 cycle again
Performance in terms of RPM is identical. This was more of a preview/comparison. I'll have a full review down the road where I test things out like run time on different batteries.
the battery is compatible with other 20v ... otherwise it is a purpose built line trimmer without unnecessary gadgetry that might make it turn into a band saw or maybe a go-cart.
Avoid this DeWalt String Trimmer. My trimmer was less than 2 years old and stopped working. Many others reported similar issues. Not worth the time and expenses to repair. Junk!
@@JayJono0069 Jay, I charged it to full charge every time I used it , Except for the non growing months, I used it for trimming around trees (4) during the spring /summer/fall. After cutting the Lawn.
Alrighty, my thoughts on this model after 4 months of use... ua-cam.com/video/JJVXtlg7hEY/v-deo.html

I just purchased this on Sunday. Only used it once for about 30 minutes or so. But I really like mine. 👍

Hi, you missed one point: on new model, you can't see the fuel gauge on battery.
Every time You have to take a battery out to check battery status.
If you use a few times, you know how long a battery will last
I have not ever run out of juice. But, I use a 5 amp battery.
Thank you in your demonstration was able to see you feed the string while weedeating.
This is a good review, with this unite saving $100 vs the Milwaukee unit... I am looking forward get it as soon as spring here..
Hey all I'm going to be posting a 3 month follow up to this video here soon. Stay tuned!
How many will still work! "0"
Has it died yet?

Thanks for posting your review.
Thanks. Just what I was looking for!
Great video thanks. So helpful !

Do you think the vibration is in the spool head? Maybe if you changed the head to the quick feed the vibration will go away
Thanks for the insightful review
I was hoping this new version would have been longer. I'm 6'2" and the original one is a bit too short
I’m 6’3” and this one works fine for me.

Great review 👍
Good review it help a lot
What is the run time on hige and low setting on both
Good review, I have the older model and the vibration is there and quite annoying!

Ours are brushed. These are not
Can attachment's from old gas trimmers work with the dewalt electric?
I'd love to use my hedge trimmer and edger attachments.
Does the new head fit on the old?

Can you show how to edge with the new one. Thanks
Most importantly DeWalt change the motor breathing holes. To prevent them from getting clogged with debris
Good point
What the runtime between the two?
Good review, maybe list more of the performance specs.

Does it work with 20 volt batteries from my drill
Yeah
Is it good for edging?
Do dewalts have other attachments for these?
The interchangeable attachments only come on the flexvolt 60v trimmer powerhead.
Please, you need wear a pair of eye-glass.
I always do. I didn’t for the demonstration but appreciate you pointing it out. Thanks.
Dude, you can move the handle wherever you want to
except the joint area which you are blocked out of which is what he was pointing out
@@CP-ux9zd I have the handle below that joint.
I kinda feel bad for kids who say they weedeat and then they use this i whouldnt consider this weedeatong bc u dont experiance the ear dammage
Спасибо
nothing like weed eating in shorts to let rocks kickback and smack you all in the shins. lol
And no eye protection ☹️
Neither one is compatible with any other attachment. Electric motor placed at base power head. Heavy at the bottom. Sucks up grass.

2 years is a lot for £130 depends how often it was used and was it the strimmer or battery not charged for 2 years?

I use husqvarna head much better head
Sorry too much talking just do the job
DEWALT 20V MAX XR 14” String Trimmer got a nice folding handle to fit in the trash. It the worst thing Dewalt ever made.
This video sgould last 2 minutes at most. Slow and boring.
