Hey great review, I have this trimmer and can usually get an acre done on a 6ah battery when I keep it on low and feather the trigger. I've removed the guard as it cuts the string FAR too short, cutting is so much faster now with a longer string. The guard didn't even do anything to stop things from hitting my legs, there's no difference at all lol. I'd say it's been great but it hurts my back though, I'm definitely going to try your method of mounting the handle below the pivot point! Going to try a shoulder sling as well
I have had the opposite experience with Dewalt. I had an 8 amp battery that did not work contacted Dewalt they sent another no charge. I had a small blower stop working called Dewalt and they sent me another on no charge. Dewalt is not perfect but they will help you. I only own Dewalt tools. I think Miluakee. Is a good line as well.
I immediately mounted my handle in the same position for my mother, who is getting of age it’s much more ergonomic and I assume you can mount it anywhere on the bar you want
Mine also died after 6 months and about the same number of uses. No problem... Go to the local service center 60 miles away in Seattle. Closed for Covid, no problem... Go online to see what they can do to assist there. Crap, send in your power tools by mail, but not your mowers or your weed wackers. Live with the garbage we sold you, your warrantee is now up.
bokchoy335 - I'm sorry to hear of your poor experience. We've had good success with DeWalt tools, very few service issues. We do have a DeWalt service center about an hour away if we need them. Thanks for taking time to write and share your experience. Best, DFJ
I see on the new one on their website, the handle is above the folding joint. Did you remove yours and put it on the other side to help with the balance?
Here's how I do it: Make sure all the line is out of the cutting head. Then, I pre-cut a length of line, about 10' (3m) long and feed it through one of the side holes in the direction indicated on the bottom of the spool. Pull the line through until you have an equal amount on both sides of the spool. The wind the center hub the direction indicated to take up the string evenly from both sides until you have string sticking out both sides about 6" long. Start up the unit and tap the spool on the ground to advance just enough string to get the string cutter to trim the string to length. Go to work and bump the spool as needed to "refresh" the line. I hope this helps! Best, DFJ
Hinged square tube shaft is a deal killer . I don't need a shaft that folds . I need to be able to attach a blower or another cutter head in about a minute . I don't want to have to mess with winding that one single spool while I'm out working on the lawn and in a hurry .
I’m having such a hard time purchasing just the spool cover only. I don’t need the complete spool? But the cap cover only. Can anyone help please? Are DCST922 and DCST922B basically the same? Thanks. Ron
As far as I can tell, the spool cover only isn't available. Here's what I found at my favorite tool and appliance parts supplier: www.ereplacementparts.com/replacement-spool-p-2507895.html As far as the difference between the DCST922 and DCST922B, the "B" designation is for a brushless motor. I hope that helps!
Two of these crapped out on me, there are absolutely garage with the motor on the head. Both had the same issue the motor circuit board. Dirt can get inside and moisture. I only got two seasons out of each with minimal use. It's buyer beware.
I used mine about 24 times for at most 7 min each, now it is dead. It is still in warranty, but I called and could only understand every third word of the customer service person, then they sent me to a service location that is out of business, so I drove all the way for nothing. I purchased dewalt since they are supposed to be good and I have other Dewalt tools. This trimmer is crap and it appears the motor is bad and I am SOL. Never will I buy another Dewalt product. I feel even worse because I told my Sister to buy one, now I expect that to die as well when it is still shiny new!
A universal harness will work just fine, just get the type that has a strap mount with a metal ring. Defective battery may be reset by jumping the contact points. I've had the same problem with winding new string in it, pulling the trigger to have a 6 foot long string all of a sudden 🤣🤣🤣 Turns out that's what happens when you wind the string backwards. It'll take it in but for some reason it will also shoot it right back out lol, wind it the other direction and it's fine
Buyers beware. There are many videos of the motor not working sometimes less than 1 yr of normal use. Read those comments and everyone has the same problem and Dewalt will do nothing to help you. I won't be buying any more Dewalt products after spending hundreds on this and they will do nothing to fix it.
Thanks for your comment. We've had very good experience with ours and it is still running strong and we are still enthusiastic about it. I'm sorry to hear that there are others that haven't had the same experience we've had. Best Regards, DFJ
Wow, Benoit. Sorry to hear of your poor experience. We have used ours for over 2 years, pretty hard use, and it's still going strong. Thanks for writing!
Whoa youngman!! No one ive seen has mounted the handle below the pivot point!! Didnt even know you could do that!

do you use DCB206 or DCB606 Flexvolt ? How many minutes battery last on low setting ?
No other videos mention the string cutter in the guard, excellent feature.
all trimmers have it...
You are absolutely right!

No trouble with speed head jamming i tried 3 heads dewalt ,echo 400, and my favorite the husqvarna
wayne136 - thanks for letting us and your fellow viewers know. Best, DFJ
Replacing the string hard to do, does it replace with a per winder cartridge of string

How long should I expect from a charged battery. Battery is about a year old?
😆hevy, if you have a lot of trimming to do, it gets heavy to handle!
Is the cutting width adjustable?
Not really, unless you consider letting your string wear out as a form of adjustment.
👍😊

Thanks for weighing in. Best, DFJ BTW, ours is still going strong and is a great tool for our use.

No harness strap or a place to put one. Battery was defective. Not possible to reload as string will not stay in. Waste of time.
Harness point is probably valid, but the others sound like you just got a defective one. I’d go return it or contact dewalt

Mine lasted 13 months piece of crap. And no help to repair or replace.

What size filament does it use? Can you use any size?
It takes .08 filament. I hope that helps!
