It may just be me but I've never had any issues at all with mine. I've even suggested it to others cuz I liked mine so much. Sorry to see you had issues.
I have the M18 platform, but have not switched to the battery trimmer yet. I have a 10 year old echo what is a champ. I hated the head that came on it, with the little cam lock holders for strips of string. I swapped out to the one you have. Best 30 bucks I've spent. If the M18 one does not work like that when I switch will be doing what you did. I actually took all the universal adaptors and bagged them to be tossed in the "someday" hardware bin.
I purchased the fuel power head (don't get excited Stephen) in June with the string trimmer attachment. Per the interwebs, it takes up to 25' of trimmer line. I'm still in the original 25' installed by the factory using it weekly . It's been great, replacing a 2 stroke echo as well. The Milwaukee has been better in so many ways. I have the pole saw, edger and brush cutter attachments as well. Very happy with all. FYI.
Thank you! You got a new sub. Btw same issue with 60v model, complete trash, chewrd up entire roll of string doing the backyard, fell apart twice with all springs and bits coming out.
I think it is just operator error. I actually have a second, different model, Dewalt trimmer and I purchased the Quickfeed String Trimmer HD upgrade. They both work great!
Great Vid -thanks! I believe certified idiots designed the string head that has been soooooo very problematic on many DeWalt trimmer editions. My husband was ready to buy a new $250 trimmer but I secretly replaced the housing on our DeiWalt DCST920 with the famous T35 Husqvarna head…works like a charm. And if a 73 yo basic gardener can make the switch happen - anyone else can, too!! And I wish DeWalt would stop trying to save paper by printing their tool instructions (in several languages, no less!) on a piece of paper the size of a vintage flip-phone. Come one, y’all….a little more help, here!!💕
My 54v line trimmer doesn’t spin anymore it just clicks and jerks. I’ve already had it repaired previously when I bought it and wouldn’t work. Any idea why it happens again?
I thought the spool head had to be turned clockwise, not counterclockwise to remove it. My manual says clockwise. But I can't get the head off going clockwise or counterclockwise.
They are junk, string winds up inside or you loose 20 feet in 5 minutes, Dewalt sent me a new head and same thing. I'll give it one prop..... I've literally smashed it like I was chopping wood and repeatedly smashed it on my driveway and it still works...if you don't want string to cut weeds
Broke it out yesterday for the first time this year since winter. Still woke, I was pleasantly surprised considering all the feedback. Maybe it will last the entire summer?
Mine just died completely took apart no burnt wires or anything obvious must be the motor/control board at 80% the cost of a new one what's the point......junk! getting a Honda 4 stroke.
I guess I'm screwed. My father lost the spring in the old head. I bought a replacement head and noticed it was vastly different than the old one. If they just sold that fucking spring and plastic piece.... The new head sucks
you have to look at what generation of people is doing the diagnoses. Todays generation couldn't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heel.
First thing every man needs to do to his weed eater is take off that p**** of s**t guard at the end. All it does is get in way, and prematurely cut the string off.

I’m officially stealing the name “someday” bin.

I agree 💯
Junk

how do we get the DeWalt engineer(s) that designed those heads to have a Pickle Beer on camera?
Black and Decker is pretty close to me in Ft. Worth… I might be able to bring them one.
My 54v line trimmer doesn’t spin anymore it just clicks and jerks. I’ve already had it repaired previously when I bought it and wouldn’t work. Any idea why it happens again?
Husqvarna T35 trimmer head is a direct replacement as well.
Thanks for the info!
Am in Jamaica buy the unfolded one and the moto burn up can you all do a review on replacing the moto
Yep. Head on mine doesn’t work at all. String shoots out every time or gets jammed
Since I think I heard you say it never fed properly I wonder if you just wound it up backwards, I like the DeWalt head for ease of loading.
I was using 850watt it started bring fumes. What can I do
I thought the spool head had to be turned clockwise, not counterclockwise to remove it. My manual says clockwise. But I can't get the head off going clockwise or counterclockwise.
Fairly certain it is counterclockwise so it doesn’t loosen itself when spinning.
there is another video of same procedure and he says it is reverse thread, so you would turn it clockwise to remove.
I'm confused with the two different houses?
Wait until you see the subterranean lair.
It’s not a bump feed system. You need to squeeze throttle in 2-3 quick bursts.
“The QuickLoad cutting head also features Bump Line Feed technology for continuous trimming and edging operation.” Per DeWalt. 🤷

@@ZeroToAwesome you’re right, I’m thinking it only had auto feed.
I was hoping I was wrong this entire time and I’m just a dummy who never read the instructions. Unfortunately not.
It’s funny because I was told echo designed the dewalt head for dewalt trimmer 😂
Those fools!
I was looking at the stickers on your toolbox. We have a Dam store here in ingram tx. Just wandering where that sticker is from?
We have one in Colorado too!
Your supposed to use Dewalt specific string I believe
Motor burned up on mine the first time i used it.
I watched a video recently about it might be a wire that needs to be mended. Look for a burnt blue wire inside the housing.
My DeWalt trimmer stopped working after 1 year. Junk, I sent it to Dumpster Depot. Who makes it for DeWalt , Fisher -Price???
Broke it out yesterday for the first time this year since winter. Still woke, I was pleasantly surprised considering all the feedback. Maybe it will last the entire summer?
Mine failed to turn in less than 24 hours. Used less than 1 hour.
Mine just died completely took apart no burnt wires or anything obvious must be the motor/control board at 80% the cost of a new one what's the point......junk! getting a Honda 4 stroke.
Other vids out look for model of STHIL brand head that fits.
The Sthil head is about the same price but a little harder to find in some areas. Definitely a good choice though.
Are worked 1 time and the next it doesn't even work at all put a full battery on and nothing
Ugh, I’m getting worried when I break it out again this spring it won’t work. :(
I guess I'm screwed. My father lost the spring in the old head. I bought a replacement head and noticed it was vastly different than the old one. If they just sold that fucking spring and plastic piece.... The new head sucks
SAME ISSUE REPLACED THE SPRINGS W CAP OFF AMAZON
it would be a lot better is instead of talking so long you used that time to slow down the replacement process so it can be understood
Did Dewalt not test their product? I’m surprised at their quality control.
Do not get the old pieces out of the trash. 😊 Don’t do it!
It has been thrown away 😞
Noooo you threw it away!!
One man’s trash is mostly still trash?
Why not fix the DeWalt head. How hard can such a simple part be to diagnose and fix?
you have to look at what generation of people is doing the diagnoses. Todays generation couldn't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heel.

I want to leave a comment with so many innuendos -butt- I can’t pick just one…
(Damn you English language!!!!!!!)
Why knot??
Rtfm helps. Is your battery ok, all the usual suspects?
Echo head fixed everything.
