    I love lightburn, and use it hours every day, but it is not a full featured drawing program. Lightburn is the very best software to control laser cutter/engravers, but I use Illustrator to draw things because it is very good at that and is what I learned 25 years ago, but there are plenty of free or cheap options that are much easier to do things like close an open shape and join two open shapes together. I would recommend Affinity designer, or Amadine or Vectornator. All of these are far more capable than Lightburn for drawing and cleaning up vector drawings.

      I agree it is not a full featured drawing or desgin program. However, I have been able to design some things from start to finish with it in the past. I’ve not used Illustrator at all, and hear and read nothing but positive about it. I will check into Affinity, Amadine, and Vectornator. Thanks for the view and the comment Michael!
      Sorry for the delay in response. My work schedule and shop keep me busy.

    Hey, very helpful video. However, when I drag an end point of a line over another line's endpoint in my open shape, the points don't automatcally join. They don't join at all. Is there something I am missing? (I am on one layer and nothing is grouped). Also, is there a way to join to end points without dragging one point over another? Some action line "Join points"?

      ALT-J sometimes works, but it can be frustrating. You can go into “EDIT NODES” mode and it should allow you to drag the end points together. I will try and get a video up this evening to help out.

    Ok so does this work only with certain file type images because hittn "T" and keys you pressed doesnt seem to do anything on mine...🤔🤔🤔

      If the shapes are not closed, it doesn't work. You may have use Boolean Modifiers.

    You can weld them together

    • @oldtech_76
      @oldtech_76  Рік тому

      You can, but it sometimes distorts the shape or removes something I didn’t want removed. I’ve used the weld function a lot with text on some Christmas ornament files I made last fall.
      Thanks for the input and thanks for the view!! I apologize for not seeing this comment before now.

    I have never used trim, always delete. What is the difference between trim and delete?

    • @oldtech_76
      @oldtech_76  Рік тому +1

      From what I have seen while using Lightburn, delete will remove the whole line or to the line to next node. Trim will remove a line to the next intersection.
      If someone reads that and I am incorrect on that please correct me.
      I hope that helps answer your question. Thanks for the view!

      @@oldtech_76 Thanks! For some reason I never used trim, always delete - this really saves me time.
