- How to use the node editor in LightBurn to join and break shapes.
If you are struggling with a some nodes that do not want to join together, please check out this video on fixing stubborn shapes that may help: • LightBurn Tutorial: Fi... - Навчання та стиль
It has taken me 10 excruciating days trying to find out how to do this! Thank you!!!
I am glad it helped. I make these tutorials as a labor of love, so hearing positive feedback definitely helps me know the time isn't wasted efforts.
Thanks this was exactly what I was looking for.
Glad I could help! Sorry for the poor video quality, this video is on a list of vids I need to re-record.
You're so awesome for doing this. Thank you!
Glad this helped.
Perfect I’ve been trying to figure this out! Thanks
Happy to help!
Thank You, I was struggling to figure how to break a shape and reconnect.
Thanks!
muchas gracias amigo me ahorraste mucho tiempo y sufrimiento!!! saludos desde mexico
Thanks!
What are all the options on this feature, like (i) for insert (b) for break
Here is a link to the LightBurn documentation describing the keyboard shortcuts for node editing: lightburnsoftware.github.io/NewDocs/EditNodes.html
Sorry for the reply to such an old question, but you can also hover over the node editor button to see the hotkeys.
If I put an offset around text, can this method be used to change the offset?
Generally, you can just add an additional offset to the original offset, but it might lose some detail in the process.
HUGE!
Thanks!
Help please. I deleted a line between points and when I tried to connect them together it would not let me. When I grab a point it turns to a red square. Hope that makes sense.
I am having the same issue. Won't reconnect to anything
Found out the issue. It's in the settings and you have to set your snap settings for lines and objects.
@@rayturp6742 I'm unable to find the snap settings. Would you mind helping me?
@@loraray1632, go to edit at the top left of Lightburn and then the settings tab. In the window that pops up, there are the snap settings in the middle area. there is a tab for snapping/snap to objects and one snap to Grid. I have both selected. Above these tabs on the right is Grid Contrast/ I have this set to off. Visual Grid Spacing/ I have it set to 10.00. Grid Snap Distance/ I have set it to 1.0. Click-Selection Tolerance (pixels)/ I have this set to 3.0. Object Snap Distance(Pixels)/ I have this at 10.
I know this is an old question that I missed, but let me know if its still an ongoing pain point.
@3:19 "if a shape can attach" How do you know if shapes can attach? I've broken the lines, and now can't connect the freakin' dots! Lol. How do you attach 2 dots from separate lines?
Sorry for replying to the old thread. In the latest versions, they have gotten a lot more aggressive at re-attaching nodes, but sometimes they don't want to attach if you attempt to attach a square node to a round node, etc.
was there some secret keystroke ;) ?? Because whenever I click the node editor and then click on a shape, it doesn't turn my shapes into nodes.
try ungrouping shapes first maybe
Sorry, I am totally a youtube n00b and didn't see these comments in forever. I assume you figured it out by now, but if you make a shape using the shape tools (circle, rectangle, hexagon) you have to right click the shape and choose "Convert to Path" before you can edit nodes.
@@milaserguy What if you dont make a shape using the shape tools?? I have the same issue as this commenter, but I uploaded an SVG file into lightburn. I click node editor and then click on a line in my file and it highlights it but NO nodes show up. Now what?! I also tried to right click and convert to path but that option is greyed out and not available.
@@HaltWhoGoesThere is it a group? You cannot node edit a group (the selection would be a mix of dots and dashed lines)
@@milaserguy It is not a group. I ungrouped everything and all I do is select one shape of my group. No nodes show up at all! On the whole project! No matter what piece I select.
I've tried to do command + any of the shortcuts and nothing shows up. How could there be zero nodes on the entire project?!
What does it mean if I click on node editor and then click my shape and NO nodes show up??
Did I answer this on another video? I suspected that the items were grouped (ants on a log rather than dashed lines)
♥
Thanks!
You should show them when you hover over the node tool it shows you all your options.
Good idea. I always forget that hovering over it shows all the shortcuts in the tooltip because I have most of them memorized.
lol... super creeped out as my name is also jason... :P nice tutorial; easy to follow.
Hah, yeah, this was an earlier tutorial I did specifically for someone. I probably will re-do it sometime soon.
Make it look sooo simple yet ive spent days tryna close 4lines and still cant
Sometimes lines can be a little finicky, especially if you are trying to connect smooth points. I have also had situations where a shape has a strange path that takes a while to figure out how it is attached (I don't know how to explain this, its like the path has a point somewhere way out of place). You can email me the file to laser at thrca.com and I can help you with it.
Each time to try to "break" a shape, it clicks off of the entire shape. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here
This is actually expected. When you break the first time, it becomes an "open" line. When you break an open line, it becomes 2 separate shapes, so you have to select which one you want to work with after that.
On a side note, as of 1.4.03, this no longer happens and the shape(s) remain selected after breaking.
