    Natachas channel is the only fitness channel where I feel completely safe. Safe from beauty standards, safe from sexism and judgement and the normalisation of substance abuse. There is no extrem to reach, only balance to maintain and I really appreciate that. Both you and Mario have this positive energy and confidence while being honest and vulnerable in front of us. It's really nice and it's one of the few channels where being a woman is well incorporated into the content, may it be regarding relationships, sexuality or fitness and the menstrual cycle. As someone with P.E. class trauma, this content made fitness a fun and positive thing for me and something I can and should enjoy.

    I am getting my doctorate right now and can't agree more that people are "using" science, AKA putting it in their videos but not understanding what makes a good study/what is bias/etc. They just get something that substantiates their own claim and pop it in the video and call it evidence. THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT THIS!!!!! Love your videos Natacha, every single one.

    Your "first time" doesn't have to be painful. For a lot of women it can be painful because they aren't aroused enough (and because of that they are maybe not wet enough, which can hurt) or because the penetration is too rough. I think it's important to mention this because we really need to start listening to our bodies, not only with sports but also with sex. So people: please, listen to your body. Communicate with your partner (you both need to do this!). And also: don't skip foreplay (and leg day, duh).

    • @CherryFlower24
      @CherryFlower24 2 роки тому

      I think it depends a lot. When I had my first time I was extremely wet cuz my boyfriend took a lot of time on foreplay and he let me manage the penetration by letting me on top and go at my own pace. I went very slowly and yet it still hurt like fuck. Like a knife when it breached.

    • @rosafillava4821
      @rosafillava4821 2 роки тому +13

      I think it’s also important to find the RIGHT partner. My experience was awful and the communication was very poor. 😑

    • @Scarlet-cs1pw
      @Scarlet-cs1pw 2 роки тому +55

      Yes but your anatomy plays a huge role if it is painfull or not. You could be very aroused and it can still hurt because your hymen is not flexible . Some people have it flexible while some are not. Thats just genetics. I advise not to feel bad if it hurts because there was something wrong or lacking in your experience or dont feel bad if it was not painfull at all because again something is lacking in your anatomy. Every experience is different..

    Anything body types, especially as a young female, are important to discuss. There’s such an emphasis on your outer appearance and body shape determining your value in society (unfortunately). So glad you’re touching on this as I know it’s a big insecurity of mine!!

    • @natachaoceane
      @natachaoceane  2 роки тому +96

      hey Logan ❤️‍🔥 I really agree, I'm honestly thinking about ways to subtly undermine all the trends and pressure in all of my content and hopefully make them feel pointless but it's gonna take a lot of force. I know I've judged myself in that way through pretty much all of my teenage years and that I had to realise all the joy in movement to break free of it, and you're definitely not alone! All my love!

      I'd also like to add this. Your/Our bodies change as time passes and we have different experiences, esp as women. I say this as a 30+ that has 3 kids. I used to be super sporty and into all sorts of activities. Now, 20 yrs later, my workouts and time look quite different. We really need to praise our bodies for performance, in any form. I have to remind myself that it's pretty awesome my body grew 3 babies! It may not be where I want it to, but I am thankful for my body nurturing my children and I can still keep up with them and play whatever they are playing!

      @@jglassStrengthDignity it's actually pretty magical that your body grew 3 babies!! it did the most amazing things for you and for your beautiful family and I couldn't agree with you more. all that matters to me is that your workouts are working for you - keeping you happy, relieving some stress, helping with your health and it sounds pretty perfect that you've evolved them to whatever feels right now ❤️‍🔥 please give your little ones a hug from me, sounds like they've got an amazing mumma 🥰

      Hymen stretching: ua-cam.com/video/nUjq60Gskkw/v-deo.html
      "Tenting" (how to know when our bodies are aroused): ua-cam.com/video/WmZnNWtQ2DE/v-deo.html
      First time(s) could be painful for lots of reasons but at a minimum, I would hope that new people are aware that you can choose to stretch your hymen slowly and not tear it (which can take weeks, I'm not saying just do this right before.) And also know to consider whether you're attempting insertion before your body is fully aroused (especially if you are nervous.) I'm no sexologist (though the doctor in the videos above is) and I'm not going to promise that would guarantee a pain-free experience, but hopefully this is helpful.

    My jaw dropped at the audacity of that company using footage of you saying that it didn't work but muted your voice. :O I'm with you about not taking hallucinogens. Whenever someone suggests that I try them, I say "I've written several novels! I don't need those." And thank you for not predicting the next body shape trend - in all honesty it can change from month to month depending on which celeb is being promoted more. No point in stressing over that. I also love how you talked about meeting someone good - my case for dating apps has always been that you increase your chances of meeting a like-minded person in your area, but in reality there is alot of pressure to impress and like you say, you're not meeting them organically so it can be awkward. I will have to join a gym to meet some like-minded people, or even a hiking group.

    Honestly I’m chubby but I’m told by people that I’m not, I’ve never been skinny not since I was a little kid when I was severely underweight,I remember celebrating when I hit 61 pounds, I started gaining a ton of weight in middle school and until last year I was very unhealthy I struggle a lot with food and last summer I basically didn’t eat, I only ate when forced I lost a ton of weight and I was so happy with myself but I refused to eat icecream or sweets about 5 mounths ago I started dating a guy who I love so much and I have gained weight and I’ve started to enjoy eating agian I still struggle with body image and honestly social media has made me hate how I look I’m trying my best to be happier and healthier I just really wanted to talk about it and you guys are becoming a safe haven for me ❤thank you for making these videos! Your doing amazing and you guys are incredible people who inspire me so much! Keep rocking on

    First I just want to thank you for being one of the only content creators I've found that not only creates incredible evidence based content, but also empowers and reminds viewers to critically consume information about health and fitness. A bit random in the context of the video, but I have a question/video suggestion that I would absolutely love to hear your perspective on. And I wonder if you've experienced it due to travel for UA-cam and such. I just got back from a month long trip around Europe (I'm from the US). During the trip and after arriving back home I've been dealing with a lot of bloating, stomach pain, and bathroom issues. Obviously diet was very different than usual including higher alcohol consumption, yummy carb heavy foods, less veg, lots of gelato, etc. and I'm sure water consumption was down, however, my first instinct was the diet culture I was raised on (even though weight loss isn't my concern). I instantly thought... hmm maybe a juice or colon cleanse, etc. but after minimal research it seems there isn't much evidence that those options are effective or even safe ones. A few articles said herbal teas, digestive enzymes, and magnesium are options but I'm also not entirely sure how effect those actually are. It's been several days and I'm looking to bounce back to regular gut health but it seems to be taking a bit of time.
    First, I'd love to know what could be some the causes of digestive shifts during traveling, second, I'd love to know more about the science (or lack thereof) behind cleanses/detoxes as a solution, and third, I'd love to hear any evidence based suggestions you have for managing travelers gut and getting back to normal as quickly as possible.
    Thanks again for all you do!

    I like to know more about your transition away from intuitive eating as you used to talk about it. I understand that intentional fat loss is maybe not compatible with intuitive eating, and since that was a goal, maybe that just changed it? But I was wondering if something left you disillusioned or you felt like it just wasn't working for you...

    I totally agree about covid-era fitness being focused on short term results and even, like, this intensity of workouts or boredom people felt they needed when gyms were closed. It is really only this year that my expectations changed and I learned how simple and nonrestrictive it can be when thinking long term and beyond aesthetics. I also learned a lot about diet culture, which made channels like yours really click for me even after watching a long time. Before even science-backed information felt like part of the overall commentary because people speak with authority and enthusiasm rather than expertise.

    New video day is always the best day! I agree with your opinion on those commentary channels - especially those that use negative clickbait to entice you to watch to learn what XX is doing wrong with their diet, and then the answer is...nothing! It overshadows the good content. Anyway, you are amazing and I love everything you do and always learn so much! xxx

    One of my favourite phrases is 'sutor, ne ultra crepidam' or 'shoemaker, not beyond the shoe,' which gave way for the word ultracrepidarianism. It's basically warning individuals to not pass judgement beyond their expertise or, in a sense, to not try and claim knowledge of things they don't understand. That's not to say that people can't learn, but when there are fitness influencers twisting science for their own benefit well... the phrase fits

As someone who's built up to a consistent fitness routine and is keen to explore, your current videos are super interesting and fun but their quite hard to adapt because Im at a different point in my journey than you are obvs :) so would you consider doing a video explaining when you got into fitness, how, what you did, and then how you progressed over the years, what you focused on when, what you tried out etc? something like that? not sure if that makes sense? XD anyway, thanks for all your recent uploads, keep them coming! Hope youre doing well and enjoying your day!

    Science is such a delicate tool, especially when it comes to exercise and fitness. One study can't express results for a majority of people, often factors are missing or the sample is too limited to a group of certain people. In the end, we can use studies for overviews and theoretical knowledge, but we can't use them as a "solution for everyone". It's always individual and we can gradually learn!
