I still think the 4 Door JL is the sweet spot for off roading, but the Gladiator fills a great niche, especially with overlanding. The length of the Gladiator vs the 2 door is crazy!!! - Congratulations on passing 200k subs Brad!

I love my 2 door for the nimbleness, but I’d also love to have that 2 door J6 concept truck (based on a 4 door JL chassis).

Agreed! I love my 2 door, but it can get scarey on some inclines. Plus storage is non-existent with the back seat installed.

Thanks for the upload. Its always a treat to watch. At 2:00 where you show the sticker, I love it how it denotes “MADE IN THE USA” Not really a common sight these days. I remember growing up in the late 70s and 80s and seeing the “Made in USA” stickers on many products. To me it stood for quality, substance and proud to be American!

As an ex-subscriber to LiteBrite, I hope I never see you do a mega-buck conversion like their 60-70,000 dollar monster Jeep. You and LiteBrite were my go to for information and ideas for doing my JKUR build.
Stay true to your subscribers please... you really do provide an excellent approach to Jeeping in America.
August 7th, I'm headed to Georgetown for the vehicle inspection and the next morning my stepson and I are headed out on our first Rubicon adventure with the Jeep Jamboree! I've taken many of your ideas to heart and I think my JKUR is ready.

IMHO, comparing a 4 door Gladiator to a 2 door Wrangler really isn't a fair comparison. If this was a stock 4 door Wrangler, that would be a more realistic comparison.

Brad great job. Thank you for keeping it real, simple and sorting out the noise in marketing. I’m concerned that people are going to put skidder tires on their Bounder and call that the outdoor adventure. It’s ok to keep it stock, and just go out and enjoy the outdoors. S

4 door wrangler I feel is the sweet spot, it’s got the highway drive ability of an suv and is still more capable than a truck. It all comes down to do you need a truck bed or not do you need towing or not
With seats folded down you basically have a large usable area on the wrangler 4 door

I'd love to see the underbody of that Gladiator. I'd be curious to see how much damage the rubbing caused to critical components. Also, I'd like to see it after a few years where any rubbed off paint would develop rust. That's the kind of stuff that worries me about taking my Gladiator offroad. Although, thankfully, Southern Ontario (Canada) is mostly dirt with few rocks.

Good comparison. I struggle with the looks on the Gladiator, as the rear doors just don't look right. If only they designed the front door profile, that may have looked better. Overall I prefer the short, robust, stubby two door look, which for me makes the Gladiator look 'odd!'. Hope you enjoy the Glad, but for me I struggle with how it looks.

Can someone explain for me why they always follow like 10ft behind each other? I know of some dusty roads you have to be a bit closer or fallback enough to see, but I don't understand it otherwise. I want to be able to see that guy in front of me and what he's doing, I want to see the road/trail in front of me, not 5ft of trail and then the backend of the next guy. Just seems less easy to determine the road and what you need to do because you can't see.

Hey Brad, now that your Wife's Jeep is fitted with 35's and you mentioned you guys would like to do mildly harder trails, do you see you adding any Diff skids or rear shock skids to your wife's 2 door for added protection or is it more than likely over kill for the trails you guys like to run? I've subscribed just to see what goes on with your wife's Jeep. I retired from 28 years of firefighting in 2014 only to badly break my foot in 2016 on my dual sport dirt bike. Living in a recliner for a year while recouping led me to your channel and the desire to buy Jeep some day so I can get outdoors once again. The type of trails you've shown your 2 dr on is what we had in mind as we plan to use the Jeep to go cross country as well. I'm always interested in seeing the very mildly modified 2 door JL's that are daily drivers but built purposely as very capable and ready off road /overland vehicles. Really enjoy the whole family vibe of your channel as well. cheers

@TrailRecon Hey Brad, I just picked up a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4 door and am in \Orange County socal. Really want to know where this trail is so I take out and test my new jeep! :)

I wish they would have used a different front end than the JL. Can't tell what it is when it comes straight at you. The original gladiator had it's own grill.

They did it like that so there could be some interchangeability between the platforms, which is smart for the manufacturer because it keeps costs lower for production and testing. Plus it's good for the aftermarket guys and owners for the same reason.

@@c4onmylip That's pretty lame. So they save money making a JL with a truck bed and call it a gladiator. Just like making a 4 door and calling it a Wrangler. Not keeping in spirit of the gladiator. But, whatever makes them money. That's what it's all about.

Great video, I test drove at launch edition JT very nice. I have a TRD PRO 4Runner, but I don’t know I’m liking the JT a lot. Not trying to start anything, but there are two things stopping me. The price and the reliability are the biggest issues. Could I get some feed back from the JL/JK owners good or bad with 100k plus miles? Issues or no issues

Vitamin B Thanks, that is the Problem with the 4Runner I could put 37s but it would cost 12-14k. It’s pretty awesome that you could put 35s on a Stock JT Rubicon. I feel very limited when we go out in the 4Runner, it’s stock but even if it had 33s you can only do so much. I’m with Brad on using the JT as an overlander put 37s and make the way up to the Arctic Circle. That would be awesome 😎

TrailRecon Awesome, watching UA-cam videos you can see a lot of negatives. But the Jeep Community is pretty large, so can imagine they are all crap. I do understand if something bad happens you want to tell everyone. So it great to hear good thing like this. To put 37s on the JT how many upgrade dose it need?
