Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- There are some great Jeep Wrangler builds out there, but not too many of them allow you to be self sustained for day on end and explore some epic places. In this video we take a close up look of this 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited that has been outfitted with all the right overlanding gear and talk with the owner to find out why he chose the modification he did. #jeep #jeepwrangler #overland

Probably my favorite build of all the walk-throughs you've done!
"Always. It' a Jeep." Lol. That was true.

Hey, TrailRecon, thank you for always ensuring your audio is on point. It seems most channels miss the importance of audio.
I love watching the walk arounds. For my Christmas wish list, I am going with skottle, Jeep awning or tailgate table. I love setting up my Jeep for beach day outings. Pop on the paddle board and go! Thanks for sharing all these goodies. The beauty of modifying is simply making it your own. Peace and love!!
Shout out to JEEP!......Put this man on a retainer, you can NOT get better content / advertising / passion than this channel.
Vegan Powered So true. This show motivated us to purchase a JL Rubicon for my wife and we will likely get a matching gladiator when the diesel is out. Plan on building the Gladiator for overlanding and taking the two deep into our backyard mountains of the sawtooths and bitterroots.
Love the line when he says "Do i have to tell you everything?" 😅😅 coz i also have a plan but don't want to tell my buddys yet 😅😅😅
Wow, on the wish list. Lol. It's a Jeep thing. I have an almost stock Liberty KJ 2.5 CRD. cost £1,600 owned it for three years. Love it. Will buy a another in the future.
Maybe the best build, most NONE obnoxiuos builder and well presented vid Ive seen in a while. Well done
I really appreciate you doing all these build/builder interviews- It's inspired me to do my own "overlanding" build. It's also good to see/hear what motivates these builders to install the equipment/parts that they did. Fantastic content!!
Congrats for having you Gladiator at the LA Auto Show. Keep up the great work. Marco, si lees estos mensajes, felicitaciones a ti tambien. Si no nos vemos en la trocha, nos vemos en la cocina.
Thank you! It was an honor to have it there.
Brad...I’d love to watch you discuss when mods become too much for the Jeep frame and suspension. GVWR, center of gravity, road safety, tire wear, etc... How many guys weigh their Jeeps when fully loaded? it would be a very interesting subject matter.
We will be having a weight discussion abut my Wrangler very soon!
@@TrailRecon My 6000lb rig would like to have a word with you LOL
@@67bigdadde I had the same thoughts exactly! If you have the means ($) then you don't have to make any decisions! Just get everything! I have some of that stuff, but I had to decide and prioritize like a thru hiker. Not hating, but if your Jeep can do everything, then how well can it do anything? Talk to a real guy and ask him why he didn't get something. Talk about trade offs, Or maybe something that he took off his rig because it was dead weight for what he was doing. Otherwise you are just a commercial.
@@rb30athorn I have a few videos on my channel such as 5 Best mods for running 37 inch tires,, Best Offroad accessories under $100, 5 Mods I would do differently, and with any luck will be starting a JL series in the near future which will start off with the essentials and slowly build up over time.
@@Casey250 cant wait to see it! Send me a link or is it simply Casey 250?
Great video Brad! I love to see the preparation of that nice Jeep. I love the majority of the updates but a white JL with that wheels looks awesome. Thanks for another amazing video.
Vent the hood, it makes a world of difference. Add a cold air intake ran through a snorkel, it helps the power a lot. I always add a better exhaust, if you dont have to do emissions, do high-Flow Cats...I did 5.13 gears on my K5, highly recommend going to those gears...
That is 1 BAD ASS JEEP ! ! ! !
I have a 97 XJ Cherokee I'm about to start modding up and I've already got some ideas based on this video thank you very much !
Your channel has really inspired me. I've watched overland videos for years now and after finding you channel I bought a jeep and I've added a few mods to improve my WNC overlanding experience
This has to be my favorite Jeep in the TrailRecon video series. It’s got everything but not overdone.
I have a Rino rack batwing 270, exactly the same as this one in the video, the only time the awning can do what is shown at 15:29 is when the pin is broken. I have replaced so many pins for this awning.... it breaks like a snap, so easy. And then they sell you the pin for 20 dollars each.
"a little company called Patriot" lol yeah I could only imagine what they have in mind haha
I hope he adds the Portal Axles. but all of Patriots products are awesome.
Great build! Congrats Josh...excited to see what you do with the Gladiator and the Patriot company!!! Thanks Brad...you are doing great work sharing your passion for Overland Jeeping!! You have inspired me to continue my Jeep build.
Thank you!
The Magruder Corridor is an awesome road with lots of history and beautiful views. It is not difficult, but you may need a saw. Do yourself a favor and add the Lolo Motorway. Much more difficult terrain with significant exposure, and you can link the trails. Bring your fly-fishing gear!
Great walk around video again Brad although its been awhile . Josh seems like a really nice guy and his JL is super nice . Looking forward to you next video . Until next time take care .
this is an awesome build, happy to see form and function on the JL, very nice set-up! thx for sharing 👍
Josh has really put a solid package together and having seen it in action, it works great!
This guy is cool. Super humble with his badass machine
Brad, another great video and it was a pleasure to finally meet you at the Toys for Tots event. I hope to get to wheel with you some day. Best holiday wishes to you and your family. oIIIIIIIo
Thank you and glad we had a chance to meet... another great event this year!
Hello from Bangkok, thanks for all your hard work on all your videos!
Hello from Cape Town. Awesome build and thanks to Brad for always bringing us great content.
Awesome build, can't imagine how he doesn't overheat with all that weight and all those lights. Great ideas and video.
Awesome set up congrats josh,,hey brad from my house to yours to your family an friends an trail recon team happy thanksgiving an wishing all a blessed season great video as always be safe
Super video Brad! I cannot wait til my Gladiator comes in. Thank you for this video my friend.
Thank you and congrats on your soon to be new JT!
Brad, you have some great friendships in the jeep community.. Very Awesome program as always.... Love your adventures.. Josh has an Awesome rig...
never pay a shop, had two jack stands, used the stock floor jack that came with jeep, and got it done in 6 hours.
My JL build will certainly be as much aluminum as I can to keep weight down.
It was really great talking with josh at Jeep bash this past year, we have nearly identical jeeps, down to the same bumpers front and rear , the lights, roof rack, the progression of lifts, and even the interior and seat color! kinda crazy having never known him and we still did so many of the same things. stand up dude for sure and would love to go camp with you guys one day.
Excellent walk around as always, cheers. Happy thanksgiving to you both !
WTF SoCal thanks man. Was great meeting you too and meeting her long lost twin!! Happy thanksgiving to you too.
@@socalexpedition !!!
My favorite build!
Great walk around. Please show more of them, I get to see different products I didnt know were out there. Thank you and have a nice holiday!
Thank you and I hope to do more in 2020!
Oh my god man, great video, awesome rig, it really energized me to watch this after work. Happy Thanksgiving from Hungary!
Ooh I found it. Love his rig.
I have the same jeep except it's the 2.0. I got 37 inch tires and 488 yukon gears was the best thing I did to my jeep.
I heard the Patriot Camper remark, those guys are awesome. Glad to hear they are finally getting noticed here.
Trail reckon killing it as always
Great video. I have a stock 2018 JLU Rubicon that I am getting ready to start adding aftermarket stuff in Spring of 2020 and finally start to overland and do some camping and exploring (not necessarily rock crawling). This was some really good insight into gear for me. I think I’m starting with the Metal Cloak 3.5” game changer suspension w 37” wheels/tires and a roof rack tent setup. Thanks again for the insight!
Wonderful video Brad, please do some more of these detailed walk arounds as they’re very informative. I’ve started watching the videos via our Apple TV, thus a much larger screen for seeing details while looking up manufacturers websites of products mentioned on my iPhone. Yes it’s a lot of starting and stopping but I’m still researching for that day I buy my Jeep.
It's great to hear you are finding the video helpful!
TrailRecon absolutely useful information...
Yours was the first UA-cam channel related to Jeeps that I’d started watching. I want to learn what works and what doesn’t work prior to a purchase...
I really appreciate the fact that you and the folks you’re wheeling with aren’t out there doing all kinds of crazy or illegal stuff. You’re respecting the environment as well as property ownership.
Hey Brad i really love your expedition & adventures videos, and interaction with your friends & their jeep builds. its awesome!! it has inspired me more to own an offroad Rig.
Thank you! Getting out and exploring will make memories that will last for every!
Installed it all by yourself... right on!
Brad, new to the Jeep world, but not the outdoors. Love the Sierras, Santa Rosa, and San Jacinto ranges. Have hiked much of the PCT through these areas as well as our trips to our place in Mammoth. Really enjoy seeing the Sierras again (recently the Alabama Hills - Movie Road +) and hope to roll and camp there soon again. We lived in Laguna Beach area and our FJ did many miles in Big Bear, and the Saddleback areas (our back yard). Here in North Texas (I'm a transplant) still looking for places to ride and camp like Oklahoma, Arkansas, etc. New 19' Rubicon Unlimited with a lot of plans in mind. It would be great to include some of the information in your notes on the manufacturers and part names used. Really great details in the vids, and it would help newbies to Jeeps like me making an overland vehicle. Keep it up and thanks for your service.
Wooo Patriot! Aussie Aussie Aussie!
Great video. It looks like most of the folks who love overlanding are DIY’ers. I love seeing how much time and effort people put into their rigs.
Josh- Nice looking rig!
Brad- As always love your videos! Any chance we can see a time lapse video to see camp set up, and then pack up when you are doing these walk throughs? My wife is requesting a dollar invested warning label (do NOT give her that)

My favorite walkthrough build so far!🤓😳
Funny thing, I was talking to a friend, just the other day, about doing the Magruder. Every time we head out, here in NW MT, about the first thing my wife asks is "did you bring a chain saw?" Some days you don't need it, some days she drives and I just walk ahead cutting trees out of the trail.
Did the Magruder on my motorcycle (Vstrom) in August. No problem and no chainsaw needed. I could see the need for one right after the trail opens though. Saw a Subaru half way through, he said he’d had no issues whatsoever. It was a long trail with a ton of rocks.
@@ClinttheGreat Thanks for the info. We normally only need the chainsaw first thing in the spring and after a big wind event.
K Richards I can totally see that. Rarely are downed trees an issue on the motorcycle, but we do carry small saws just in case.
wow super incredible . i hope a day i will be able to modified my 2017 JKU Sahara 4 doors like yours... have a nice day from Rouyn-Noranda, province of Québec, Canada
Brad you explain everything so well! And your story description brings me there with you! Great job always!
I’m glad I watched this and now I know not to get the auxiliary switches and to get something custom instead. I also learned to get that dual battery pack.
I just ordered recently also. Get the aux switches. There are never too many switches. Plus, otherwise it is dead space that you will eventually want to install....switches in. Use them for more static / less used items like winch and air compressor, maybe fridge.
Sheesh! New JL, Gladiator and all those mods with time off to actually enjoy them. Sign me up for that job
Absolutely perfect, I need this in my life
Love the rig reviews.
BTW I did the Magruder last summer on my adventure motorcycle. Great road, lot of baby head rocks. There was a Subaru Forester half through it, guy said he’d had no problems.
Great Walk around, great build. Looking forward to seeing the Gladiator
Awesome video again Brad! Every time I watch these build videos I want to do stuff to my JL 😂.
Thank you and for the record, doing these walk around makes me want to do stuff to my Jeep! LOL!
TrailRecon I can imagine man! Haha
Awesome Jeep
I love your JL and I’m soooooo jealous........ would love to be out doing the traveling and trail riding with you guys. Great video thanks.
Well done. Buying a 2020 JLUR as we speak and love some of the things he’s done. ❤️🇺🇸
And some of the things you’ve done as well Brad!!! Let’s go! ❤️🇺🇸
Love to have all that on my Jeep, but as it’s my daily driver I’m concerned of all the weight. Thinking of an overland trailer that can be more of a home base and go wheeling from there or pull on moderate trails. Looking forward to your review of using the Patriot trailer and how you think it works out compared to just having a heavily loaded Jeep. I can see both pros and cons, but can’t wait to see that video.
Exactly it’s a good argument for a trailer was thinking the same thing when I watched this video.
Nice walk around
I love metalcloak 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍I will be building my Jeep with everything METALCLOAK .
Another awesome video man! Great job!
Thanks brother!
Electronics you have wired in are very nice.. I will pay you to do mine just the same..
Great interview, great content, this is what I like to see. Thanks
Thank you!
NC ❤MOUNTAINS backyard RC AND MORE🏞... sweet jeep!!! 🖒💯
Brad happy thanks giving to you and your family
Awesome video and build. Gave me lots of ideas for my 19 JLU Rubicon. Great channel Brad!
We had a 2012 jk new. Dropped loads in it. Poison spyder front to back..!! Met the McRae family in 2013 at Jeep beach in Daytona. Actually have the logo tattooed on my arm. My wife well x now!! Has pictures with him.
Brad, as always great video. Liked the Jeep walk around and build out. Really liked the friendship you guys share. You are blessed to have some great wheeling buddies. Hope you and your family have a great holiday season.
Thank you! The best experience I've had on my trips were because of the people I was with!
Amazing camper. Nice tent size too! Idk why he is complaining that the sliders got beat up? That’s what they are for!
Great walk around. This Rig is set up nice.
I wonder how these mods would look like on a Gladiator. Great build.
Amazing Jeep and great walk-around...thanks for sharing! I just can't imagine the cost of all the modifications...this is a 6-figure build (when including the price of the Jeep)...most folks can't afford all these items. So, this is fun to watch and dream, but it would also be great to see more budget friendly builds, too.
So get a Rubicon and plan ahead to throw a good 30k on top of it. Even more if you get really hooked up.
right! I have a JL and been upgrading slowly but holy cow, that guy dumped $30+K in just over a year in mods. I can't imagine having that much expendable income, maybe when the kids are older
@@drewengles4477 when even a set of five 37" tires are around 1600 dollars. You get the picture.
I remember when Brad used to call everything "goodies". Lol
As always your videos are awesome. I have just a little over a year offroading in my two door JK out here in AZ. I would love to see some more lower budget builds that are still good quality. 😉🌲🌵
What a Beast!
Awesome video.
Really appreciate it!
I like his KC lightbar. I drive a Infiniti QX80, but I am about to order 40 inch of the KC flex light. On their website it says $1,645.99. Wow!!! Well, I will see what I can order and will make a video of light output when I install it. I have not seen any video of anybody actually showing the light output of these lights.
Awesome video guys!! I don't have a full size Jeep as of yet but when I do, and I will get one! You guys have inspired me to build up an awesome Jeep and make it my own creation 🙂 Thanks again and keep those great videos coming and safe travels.
Thank you! Excited for you and the adventures that await you!
Awesome build. Your channel is costing me big $$$. I love it !
Awesome video brad!! Great way to start the day today.
Awesome!
Love this build!!
Great build. Great walk around video. Thank you both!
Thank you!
Great video thank you!
Have a great Thanksgiving...now back to the video.
Love the rig walk arounds gives me good ideas 👍👍👍👍
This might have been the most expensive video I have watched. I want it all!
Maybe he loves to do Rock Crawling with the Lite Bite Crew.
Best interview!
Great Jeep built very well. Great video!
Love love the Tembo! May get that instead of the Blackstone looks so much lighter!
Rig walk around? Its been awhile!
It's been a while... would you like to see more of them?
@@TrailRecon most definitely! I've seen that one with Oh_that_one_dude about 100 times, love that build!
Absolutely! Everyone seems to be doing JT videos, I’m ok with a mix of all rigs!!
Just subscribed, been watching all ur video's. I was stuck wondering what to buy, a new Mustang or a new ford truck. But watching ur video's i now want to buy a new jeep..lol time will tell. Anyway great video's keep'em coming. 🇺🇸 MERICA
Nice rig ,I have king shocks on order for my jl , can't wait to see how they ride.
Woo! Come to Idaho! Would love to meet you guys!
