Honestly, I'd thank the gentleman that came to my house to take the car, if I could. I didn't argue with the guy. I knew exactly what was happening. I handed over my keys and asked if I could take my pack of cigarettes out of the car. He allowed me to. I got my shit together and in a few days paid what was owed in back payments. Got the car back. Fast forward, I now own the car and never again missed a payment. On anything. My credit has gone up significantly. I've also quit smoking and drinking. will be 5 months soon. Great video. I've owned a recovery company for over 20 years and although it didn't show in the video, always make sure that you check the VIN number before you hook the vehicle. Don't ever trust the license number, even if it is on a vehicle that looks to be the same model. Like my business card says, " We put bad debtor's back on their feet."
@@codyor4483 yep, attitude means everything. I have even given the nice ones a ride home. I had one once who was a skip. Problem is these old ass pos vehicles break down with severe issues shortly after loan agreement and purchase and they ain't paying say 4k to fix a vehicle that ain't worth that much
The reason is because the vehicle gets refinanced several times. A good friend of mine has to pay off $30,000 on a car worth about $10,000 in fact she is currently hiding the car right now because she is worried the repo process is about to start.
j.c. m The voices... turn off the voices!!! They never go away. Always telling me what to do next and if that fails then they have a back up plan and another and another... make them stop!!! ;-)
My mom has a Yukon XL of this generation. She locked the keys in it at a store and it took me two hours to break into it. I ended up buying a tomato cage and cutting a rod off it and using that to flip the manual switch, while using a thick piece of loose mulch to hold the door frame open. These were apparently a hot target for thieves, so GM redesigned this generation with overboard anti-theft. When you lock it, it disables the electric buttons if the seat weight sensors don't detect anything, and the door and window frames are redesigned to resist slimjims. I tore up the seals and scratched the piss out of the paint inside the door. It was past closing time for locksmiths around and we couldn't afford them anyway. Store mechanics tried to help break into it until their shifts ended. The fact that you got into it so quickly is impressive.
That's why I like to tow trucks that are fully automatic just back in hit the button and the t comes down under the front of the vehicle and lifts it up damn you're good to go
There are armchair experts in every field. I dove trucks for 42 years. It amazed me how many 2 year drivers were such absolute experts about every aspect of driving commercially. I did my best smile and wave exit. I was usually not the only "old guy" who left supertrucker to regale the ones who still had to eat with their exploits of skill ( never dumb luck) and how much they knew aboutn other people's lack of perfection.
Great video. I agree I would have popped tranny into neutral and gotten off the X to a safe area. Nonetheless the steps you chose to make were flawless and professional. Great job from a fellow recovery agency.
You know another “tell tail sign” of a delinquent car owner trying to avoid a repo? When they park sideways in their driveway right next to the garage door or house. ...YO!
Just because it was not in the video doesn’t mean he did not check. This is a professional operating expensive equipment, seems like he would know that basic protocol.
YOUR WORKING FOR YOU!! It's YOUR JOB, NOT everyone else's opinions! I was a tow truck driver back in the Day,and you have to do what you have to do to get that job done without damaging OTHER PEOPLE CAR'S
Good job man. When I was younger I was replying with a extended 95F 3 50. 7.3. With a dynamic loader. Everything you said is true! You can do 10 to 15 different ways. And when it goes downhill it goes definitely downhill or you lose it. Very good video I know it’s eight years old. But I’m having a few beers in 100% agree with you😂🤷🏻♂️ Thank you for the video and I think repossession is going to kick off again pretty soon. I’m thinking about buying a truck. Have a good day man
it is ok to buy something with a loan. But you also need to be smart. 1) Dont buy something unless if you lose your job or have other financial problems, you can pay your bills for up to 3 months in advance. That way you have time to at least get some finances together to keep things going. For me, I got a cheap vehicle first, then a year later I had to buy a new vehicle for my new place of living/job, so I bought a nicer but still low cost vehicle and I worked overtime so that I was able to pay off a quarter of the vehicle with the sale of the old one, and pay off the rest in only 5 months. Now I have reduced my work hours from 70 to 50 (so I can save money and still have a decent life. But I am changing to a position that pays 20% more than now. A nice jump. My credit card will be completely clean next month with a 6500 credit limit across 2 cards. Meaning I could survive for at least 6 months if needed for rent and bills alone. I will keep saving money and next year I plan to buy an even nicer vehicle. Selling my current one will allow me to pay around 25% of the new vehicle again. And with my higher pay I will again work hard to keep ahead of the game so I can pay it off in less than a year. (Not working 70 hours anymore lol just 50 hours will do well for the bills) By the way, if you stay ahead of payments by a few months, then if you have a good bank, especially a credit union, they will let you defer payments without penalty for at least 1-3 months depending on various factors. So it is great to do that, at the very least early on in case something happens later. Also, if it is a big loan that you think you might take more than 9 months to pay off, dont be afraid to ask to refinance it once you have paid off half. Again, a good bank/credit union will work with you to lower payments, and you still keep a high pay back monthly, but this will help you in case you have problems later. You may want to work really hard for 3 months, pay a ton down on it, refinance, and then relax, working less from then on knowing you are financially secure by keeping your debt payments low. So to recap 1) Find a credit union, or if necessary, bank that will give you a high credit limit, and work on your credit score per their guidance to keep increasing that. Good for emergency, and cash advances are still lower interest than from any other lending agency, and normal credit charge interest is even far lower. Usually under 15% if you have decent credit. This will help keep you above water in emergencies. 2) Keep cash on hand however you can, enough for 1 months rent on top of your current month, so you have time to breath before even backing up to the card. Learn to sacrifice when you can and dont think bad luck will never happen to you. 3) Refinance when possible and keep debt low, and keep ahead of the payments however you can, even if that means an intense month or more of work, so that you have even more breathing room when needed It is nice to only buy things with cash, but not everybody is that lucky and waiting many years isnt practical and buying a clunker in the mean time can mess with your sanity. I know that I felt so much better when I was able to get the vehicle that allowed me to handle the higher speeds and hills on top of that, with more confidence and safety and just made riding a joy which helped relieve stress of work. Now I have that joy but less work and it will pay off in the future when I want the next better vehicle.
True and there is a joy in having money to fix your own stuff. I feel bad for anyone who is paying monthly payments and also having to make repairs on something they don't own

rminitials go to whatever dealership. Ask them what the average monthly payment for the car you want is. Put that money into a savings account every month. Then after the 5-6 years go buy the car in cash. Your bank will pay you interest on your money. Instead of you paying them.

Branden Hylton Oddly it seems repo people have priorities that oppose each other. You need stealth for least probability of troublesome confrontations, power for heavy loads, which are probably more likely to be from those who would put you on high alert if they come out.
Thank you for the work you do. Can't imagine how childish some of the things you see are. People, if you are having a car repossessed, don't mess with the man who's job it is to do it. Just be respectful as you should with anyone.
Matt the fights in your comment section are entertaining too. I love reading the ones telling you how to do your job. I'll bet you have a lot more years on the job. And like one person said "Matt would not be in business as a owner operator if he was not doing a good job." On a personal note hang in there with The wife. She is very lucky to have a strong husband and your just as lucky to have her. Your fans are thinking about you two and saying a prayer every night. Stay safe and stay strong. I wish I could help you more.
peglegvlogs The comment section really does make me laugh a lot. I get a different point of view by reading them. The fights between viewers are interesting to say the least. It's amazing how down right ruthless we will get with our words as a society when we sit behind the anonymity and privacy of a computer screen. Threatening to kill each other over an opinion. REALLY PEOPLE.We can't take back bullets and we cannot take back words. Thank you for the kind words on the other end of it all. I think people view me as a lot stronger than I feel many days. I cry a lot more than anyone will ever know in the privacy of my truck as I drive from here to there and it just sucks to be dragged through a life of watching the one you love tortured on a daily basis by their own body. Shanda is the strong one. I am just along for the ride. I keep my promises in this life cause our word is all we have and I told her I would take care of her until the end. I have shown up at many of repos where the wife has been left with cancer and the cheating husband stopped paying the car and house payment and I've seen the pain that causes and I will never do that to another person in this life.
From what I could find, if the vehicle has an electronic or "chip key" the transmission can't be switched out of park while the computer is off. So there's no risk of the vehicle moving under it's own weight without a steering lock.
Actually, Chevy/GMC suvs are trucks and don't require or come with a steering wheel lock... i have had several and none of them have a steering lock. The computer does not unlock the transmission, a switch on the brake pedal does, and they have no chip in the key either. At least not on models older than 2010. They don't even have the vats system which was in 1993 gm cars.
I tow at a car auction in Jersey. Most Chevys/GMCs suvs dont have a steering lock. I find that the pickups like Sierras and Silverados have steering wheel locks.
I had a 97 suburban it had a locking steering wheel, I had a 2004 suburban, again locking steering wheel. I have a 2004 Silverado pickup, again locking steering wheel. I also have a 2016 Silverado pickup and it has a locking steering wheel, so I'm puzzeled by the comments about Chevrolet and GMC not having locking steering wheels.
Always a good view, Mr Nut. The way you do it adds a professional touch to be this vocation: PC mounted in the cab, multiple video cams, and every piece of equipment shiny and clean. The way the others react adds all the drama and laughs.
When u had it hooked from the front why didn't you just pop the linkage on the tranny put it in neutral roll out 45 sec not 10 minutes to a safe location instead of taking so long and risking contact and a bigger safety issue? Hook and roll or drag key words for a repo agent which I am and have been for the past 16 years. Just wanted to hear your reasoning. Stay safe out there.
Josh Matthews This series denali does not allow for the usual GM/Chevy linkage pop off. I found out the hard was and ended up replacing a 3200 transfer case. You don't see many of these on the road and there are no indicting marks on the outside to let you know. Only way is to get under the vehicle and where the linkage is usually at there is a small electronic box that does the shifting. Would have been 10 times easier and faster had it been the other 99%
+RepoNut I started as a ride along with a spotter and we would slide a metal plate on the sensor to open up the gate.can't this be considered trespassing also jumping a fence to gain access to the unit.I fear I will get caught by the police.can you be arrested?
+David Henriquez It's absolutely trespassing and completely illegal. In a case like this the property owner is not party to the debtor's agreement with the finance company and they have the right to restrict you from entering their property.
I don't know of any state where you can legally trespass on a third party's property to recover a vehicle without a court order and law enforcement assistance. If you do, I would certainly be interested to learn about it.
Had a repo 4 years ago. Wife had passed and insurance was dragging feet. Handed over the keys at my work. Friend of mine called that night and wanted to know if I was ok,,driving like a maniac and such. Using phone app tracked car and we were able to get on video tow driver doing donuts and snatch starts,,reving in neutral and snatching into drive. My friend and I approached them,,a small group of tow drivers staging cars in a closed Kmart parking lot, and were able to record them doing with multiple cars having a grand time. Long story short court ruled tow company had to pay 1200 tome for new tires and pay balance of what was owed around 4900. My oldest son really appreciates the tow companies generosity paying off the wife’s e350 Mercedes so he could keep it.
I wish I had black go jacks, lol ours are pink.... I don't know why. I guess I wish I had a lot of what you have lol. Just some mounts for the go jacks would be nice, I have to throw the dollys, bars and go jacks in the back of the truck then dig them all out over the edge of the truck every time I use them.
Two things I would do different: 1. lift front, one strap on driver front, pop trans linkage and get off site. On site way too long, raises risk for confrontation. Can tow them like that for unlimited distance without trans damage. 2. Unlock from passenger side always, for the sake of possible seal damage. Won't be in driver's ear. My 2 cents after over 10 years in the business...
Great work. I would lift the front, pop it in neutral from the bottom, and roll out to safety where you can hook it up properly. Of course it is easy to think when I watch someone else doing it. I am not sure if I could do better under the circumstances. Bravo.

I got out of a repo one time. I got a call they was sending a truck to reposes my 1998 isuzu amigo i already sent the bill payment in the mail exactly 10 days ago and should have been there 3 days before i got the call so i drove it to the lenders office parked it in there lot got a ride home still beat the truck to pick it up told them a buddy had it in atlantic city for work. So 40 mins go buy cops at the house told them same story then the reaper got a call that bill made it to the office but must have been looked over and they excepted the payment best part about it was by parking it there at the lender they would have never looked there
I bought a Chevy dually and every week the glow plugs stopped working. Was told it need a newer wiring harness to solve the problem. I called them to come repo the truck 🤓
Two questions. How is it you were able to straighten the steering, why did the steering lock not prevent this?. Second question. If you damage a car during recovery and the finance company sends the car to auction but gets less because of the damage is this on you?
GM steering locks are really weak. You just give the wheel a good yank and it'll free up. Our contract for recovery said we are not responsible in any way for damage. Don't know about how others do it.
Have you tried? Calling BS usually involves knowledge of it. Also possible you don't have the strength required. Ever try towing a car on its front wheels with the steering only locked by the internal mechanism? There's a reason why we immobilize the steering wheel and leave the column unlocked while towing. They break too easy (especially GM). But in a pinch when doing repo I'd intentionally break it if I had to be able to steer it. Hell I've seen people do it accidentally just by using the locked wheel as a handle while trying to shift into a comfortable position in the seat. They aren't terribly robust mechanisms...but maybe I misspoke, if we're going to details...the mechanism will break, and wheel will be free. As to which part actually decides to break probably depends on a lot of things.
It’s a piece a cake to put that thing in neutral instead of wasting all that time with the dollies and flipping it around. You just pop the shift cable off right at the transmission and move it 2 clicks to neutral and you’re on your way.
And risk burning up a transmission that the repo company would have to pay the financial company ? Nah. We will pass on that. There is a method to our madness.
Takes 30 seconds to get out pop cable and get back in the truck and get off property no straps nada. My safety first the collateral comes sect. FYI those transmissions will handle towing from the front no prob. Fwd towing backwards not a good thing.
@@polloloci21 try with Toyota, if its battery is good, the moment you unlock the door, it will lock again. It's a good safety feature, but if you're locked out, you are going to have a fun time trying to open it, did also mention that the wheel locks?
great videos... question. on this GMC... you were able to turn the wheel after popping the door. did the column lock not engage yet? seems like it shouldnt have turned that far. thanks
I don’t get people getting mad at being repoed. I had a repo man come knock on my door to ask me for the keys. I gave it to him and let him do his job and resolved the situation with the bank, which was an error. Even if my fault, I can’t pay for it, I don’t get to keep it. Simple.
You can always just may minimum payments or half payments, from my understanding they don’t want to repo you, unless your guaranteed a failure and gonna lose it and not pay back!
Steven Stewart right wtf is this guy doing, ive been towing 2 years and woulda been gone off the property with 1 strap and linkage popped... then strap and hit the road
It was reported a yukon denali... Which they are an AWD in which case selector position cannot release either axle. Forming a makeshift sling for front allowing fronts to spin is the only useful time to “pop linkage”. UNLESS.. as in this case , someone gave bad information or not noticed it wasn’t a denali edition.

@@slimetime4668 Oh I hear you. But he said the security person. The security personnel would not be able to refuse an employee having their vehicle towed from the lot. If it were the actual owner sure, but there shouldn't be any issue with the security person.
I know where I work the security Standard Operating Procedures say that if security sees a repossession happening to have repo company leave, treat it as a trespass.
Most businesses have this policy. Since their parking lots are considered private property the recovery guys would need the business owner's permission.
I've read a lot of comments on this thread saying how bad recovery companies are. I have 11 employees. So not only do I support my family, my company supports 11 other families. Now having said that not every person that is on the recovery list is a dead beat. Some became ill, some lost their jobs, and some are just irresponsible. The bottom line is that in most cases if you notify the lender or the small car lot, most will work with the debtor. We once had a repossession in a nearby city. We arrived at the address ( late at night ) and I hooked the vehicle. The lights in the house came on and a very small young woman came out of the house. I approached her and of course she was crying. Then her 87 year old blind grandmother opened the front door. This young lady worked 3 jobs and went to the local community college. She was the sole support of her grandmother. I explained to her as I had already reported the repossession that I had to take the vehicle. I also asked her what time was her first class. She didn't understand why I was asking her that question. I told her that one of my employees would come back and take her to school. She of course started to cry again. Anyway to make a short story longer. We took her to class and my employees pitched in and paid off the car. She only owed a little over 700 bucks on the note. We have a job to do and we do it well, but we are human beings too.
It always amazes me that people will do everything they can to keep from getting repo'd except for the easiest and most obvious way. . . paying they're bills.
They don’t need to try to keep the car if they aren’t trying to pay their bills. Usually, eating out, movies, cable tv, new clothing and other little luxuries go first. Once you lose the car, you can’t get to work so the job is the next thing to go. Soon after that, you lose your home and then you blow your brains out. So, it’s really just them trying to survive.
I mean on the highway. It could be as much as hitting something on the road that throws you in the next seat. I understand at slower speeds, I personally wouldn't chance it at highway speeds. Also the aspect of getting a ticket.

The reason is because the vehicle gets refinanced several times. A good friend of mine has to pay off $30,000 on a car worth about $10,000 in fact she is currently hiding the car right now because she is worried the repo process is about to start.

That's how you steal a car

Have a good day man
This is why I only buy what I can afford, cash only! 😅
When ever you ready to purchase property in California, let me know.
ACT1O1 you’ll be waiting a long time
it is ok to buy something with a loan.
(Not working 70 hours anymore lol just 50 hours will do well for the bills)
By the way, if you stay ahead of payments by a few months, then if you have a good bank, especially a credit union, they will let you defer payments without penalty for at least 1-3 months depending on various factors.
So to recap
1) Find a credit union, or if necessary, bank that will give you a high credit limit, and work on your credit score per their guidance to keep increasing that.
3) Refinance when possible and keep debt low, and keep ahead of the payments however you can, even if that means an intense month or more of work, so that you have even more breathing room when needed
It is nice to only buy things with cash, but not everybody is that lucky and waiting many years isnt practical and buying a clunker in the mean time can mess with your sanity. I know that I felt so much better when I was able to get the vehicle that allowed me to handle the higher speeds and hills on top of that, with more confidence and safety and just made riding a joy which helped relieve stress of work. Now I have that joy but less work and it will pay off in the future when I want the next better vehicle.
California is a dog shit place to live.

Instead of you paying them.

wtf no steering wheel lock?
I was reading through for someone to catch this. I am still wondering how the wheel turned. POS
Would have been 10 times easier and faster had it been the other 99%
+RepoNut no there isn't
Thank you for towing vehicles correctly such that drive train components don't get damaged.
Well, the client wants the car undamaged, that's the whole point of a repo.

Derek Schwartz probably pink so they won’t get stolen or “borrowed”. A lot of guys are weird about using pink tools
Two things I would do different:
1. lift front, one strap on driver front, pop trans linkage and get off site. On site way too long, raises risk for confrontation.
Can tow them like that for unlimited distance without trans damage.
2. Unlock from passenger side always, for the sake of possible seal damage. Won't be in driver's ear.
My 2 cents after over 10 years in the business...
If the company gives you grief EVERY time you go there...that says a lot about the company, like maybe they need to pay their employees.
I like your style, planning and efficiency. Good work.
Great work. I would lift the front, pop it in neutral from the bottom, and roll out to safety where you can hook it up properly. Of course it is easy to think when I watch someone else doing it. I am not sure if I could do better under the circumstances. Bravo.

Dan R those body style Yukon’s and Chevy Tahoe’s has steering that did not lock
Sorry I have to call BS on that there's no way you can break the pin by yanking hard on the Wheel!
As to which part actually decides to break probably depends on a lot of things.

repo
er zaal naaaa not usually. Usually you have a set price with a lean holder and that’s what you charge whether it’s a cavalier or a Bentley.
er zaal so if you repo lambos in Vegas that’ll be more money.
The background is so beautiful. If you don't mind me asking what state is that?

I'm thinking staged I had a truck like that unless its broken you cant turn the wheel without the keys
Certain years and models like this one the steering don’t lock at all. I have an 04 Tahoe and it don’t.
I don’t get people getting mad at being repoed. I had a repo man come knock on my door to ask me for the keys. I gave it to him and let him do his job and resolved the situation with the bank, which was an error. Even if my fault, I can’t pay for it, I don’t get to keep it. Simple.

I know where I work the security Standard Operating Procedures say that if security sees a repossession happening to have repo company leave, treat it as a trespass.

That is interesting. I never knew that could be the case. Thank you.
Well, backing in didn't work.
Are you not worried about what might happen if you get into an accident without a seatbelt on? Stay safe.
Don't be a "Safety Sally" Tpena4 - He's in and out of the truck so much it's really hard to put in on and off all the time.
I mean on the highway. It could be as much as hitting something on the road that throws you in the next seat. I understand at slower speeds, I personally wouldn't chance it at highway speeds. Also the aspect of getting a ticket.
Tpena4 the seatbelt ticket is ten bucks and they have to pull you over for another reason
***** The seat belt ticket is 45 bucks and they can pull you over just for that. I live in Utah which is were he works.
in Missouri its ten dollars and they cant pull you over just for that, its a personal choice for an adult over 18 just as a helmet should be, now for children I agree with you, but anybody else should have the right to chose, we can agree to disagree brother tats what a free society is about
I could watch you work all day long
Put on your seatbelt.

@@CruiseW where?
Seatbelts are for keeping steering wheel straight :P
@@BicBones excellent point!
Does the keys not have to be in it to be able to turn the steering wheel?
I was wondering the same
not on newer chevys
the steering wasnt all the way in locked position, thats why he was able to turn it
Nice. In my 10+ years in the repo business, I would have popped the linkage from under the car then put in neutral and towed it off the property.
Would have been a lot quicker to just throw those dollies if that's your version of working quick
With the time he spend messing with the go-jacks, and then breaking in and straightening the wheels, he could have used the dollies and been out of there without the horn going off. He made it harder on himself this time.
Or even faster. Pop the linkage. Under 45 seconds you’re in and out.
