I absolutely LOVE that my Aventage and my two sets of MusicCast (MC) speakers can be linked together to create a whole-house system. However, I find that the MC app is fairly limited, in comparison to what some of the native functions are for each of the music stream services. I am primarily using my MC app to launch into Spotify. Once running, I use the Spotify Connect to move through all of the features of the service, while falling back to MC to control volume or power off.
pure-direct support multiple channel sources. I just tested that Tonight on the A4A that I got over the weekend. LPCM, multichannel LPCM, DD , DTS, DTS MA all work in pure-direct.
Yamaha A6A thoughts after 7 months. It keeps getting better! Max, I reviewed this MusicCast video again and picked up your tip on using the Surround Decoder in Auto mode. That setting sounds great in my room. Lossless music (Apple TV 4K) fills the room while keeping the speakers transparent. So far, my music plays either in Dolby Atmos or in Dolby Surround. Before using the Auto setting, I would flip between Surround AI, Auto 3D, and Straight. Those are good choices, I prefer DSur best.
Hi Max! Since all my content is some form of Dolby, I changed my Surround Decoder from Auto to DSur. The result has been quicker switching between DSurr and Atmos. When on Auto my A6A took longer find finally land on DSurr. That switching latency bugged me, so I'm even happier now.

Yes, I can definitely make a video on that as well. I want to keep making these videos short because the material might get too dry. Yamaha AV Receivers have so many options, which are a gift and a curse at the same time 😁 Yamaha has Way more settings than my Denon 4500H which I think is a positive.
@@mchambliss2 I agree on the videos and I tried out the Denon x4700H. didn't like the sound and not enough power with out hooking up external amps. Always been a YAMAHA guy and always will.👍
@@midmassguy I feel the same. On my Denon 450@H in the living room, I had to crank the volume up way too high. When I cranked the volume up, I’ve noticed that the receiver would start to get uncomfortably hot 🥵 I knew I had to try a different receiver.
Thx for video. When you flipped to the receiver UI at the 7 minute mark is that still shown on your phone/pad, or is that just seeing wha is on the TV or projector screen from the receiver itself. I've not been able to get those shown on my iPad or iPhone, tho receiver to my TV works fine. I have to admit I find the Yamaha AV Controller clunky and nowhere near the class of the iPad/iPhone of Pioneer from 10 years ago.
How do I connect Bluetooth headphones to the RX-679. Bluetooth transmit is not available in the receivers menu. I was told I need to use the MusicCast App to turn on the Bluetooth transmitter. I can't get the MusicApp to connect to the RX-679.
It's instant. I haven't discovered any bugs while using the app. I think the app is more responsive than the remote. With the remote, I have to constantly move it in the area where it can receive a signal. With the app, I don't have that problem.
How do you do something as simple as changing the hdmi input? That was simple to do on the old AV Controller app but can't see how to do it in MusicCast. It shows me that its using HDMI1 and I can see all the sound settings for that, but no way to change it to HDMI2, HDMI3 etc
On your RX-A88, do you have it connected wirelessly or through Ethernet? If it's wirelessly, select add a new device. Once you select add a new device, make sure that the A8A is on. Once it's on, the app should recognize the A8A
There is a sensor-button right below small menu nob, there is writing MENU (CONNECT), you need to touch this writing and hold for 3 sec until display shows CONNECT. Not very intuitive, I know.

The only thing that is missing is VRR and ALLM mode. Hopefully, that will come soon.

I wasn't super happy with the MusicCast app. I'm just streaming Tidal to my Yamaha CX-A5200 with AirPlay2.

Hold small button to the right of the actual receiver for five seconds until it connects.
