One of the greatest MMA fights of all time. A true masterpiece. These guys were 25 years ahead of their time. If you get the chance to train with either guy, you better take it

I paid £30 for the Extreme Fighting DVDs, maybe 18 years ago and remember this standing out so far. Two excellent fighters that were way more evolved than some of their fellow fighters.

This is like Hip Hop, they said it wouldn't last - light years ahead of their time, but its amazing how the game has moved.
So many positions that have evolved!

I really wish rap ended in the 90s because it really is a trashy brand of music.

A lot of mma guys got a lot of moves and techniques in practice but you don't see them using it in a real fight they usually just wrestle and hug each other.

What happened to John Perretti? He's the matchmaker and i think the creator of Extreme Fighting. He knew how to put on a show.

Those two would whoop some ass even by today standards : both grappling and striking are pretty high level.

this is the type of stuff matt teaches at amc. always tells us you don't need to focus on KO's. If you can end the fight with a cut via knee or elbow so we practice using our elbows as knifes.

This has gotta be the one fight I take the most bitterly.
Prime Matt Hume, a successful kickboxer and sport BJJ grappler but a 2-5 Pancrase record that he tried to claim was "all works except my wins", a great coach but in my opinion not an excellent MMA fighter, gets a lucky strike on Erik Paulson, a superior fighter and superior MMA coach in virtually every way, and he gets a very undeserved win. I' watching this fight over and over. Paulson was a better striker, better grappler, Matt couldn't even HURT him. Matt seemed to just have this confidence he would win, then suddenly reality came in as he realized he's up against a well-rounded fighter that's better than him and Matt basically just SURVIVES as they're about equal in the clinch and he gets a LUCKY SHOT.
I cannot stand Matt Hume. He's just so in love with himself, a liar and convinced of his own greatness... and to see him actually get a win on a good fighter, is just repulsive to me. especially over a fighter I greatly respect.

Matt Humes was a pretty even competitor, you're giving the impression Paulson ran straight through him. Despite your personal opinion I think it's best to make more objective points if you want to argue your point most effectively.
