    You have about 4-5 different Aloe in there. You need to separate them. The 2 that are leaning hard need their own pots and then the smaller 2 you can still pot together or separate for a little longer. When you give them their own pot a bunch of babies will grow around them, then you can re-pot the mama giving fresh soil once a year and take the babies and put them in separate pots before ya know it you’ll have 6-8 big beautiful Aloe plants all thriving and healthy 😊

    Please when working with planting medium that is so dusty as this seems to be, get one of those surgery mask. The dust may not be a problem now ,but trust me when you are old that can be problematic. I know because I was a migrant worker when I was young, And the fruit trees were very dusty. I am asked if I smoke, well I never smoked tobacco ,so take care of your lungs . I love each and every one of you. Blessed Be I am happy to say I am 80 years old.

    Thank you for this video as well as the Hibiscus video. I started with one aloe plant 5 years ago and now have over thirty. The first aloe is now over 3 feet tall and about a foot wide at the roots. It's absolutely huge. It just flowered again and the flower stems reach 4.5 feet tall. Totally amazing.

    My Aloe got too big of a stem, so i just cut off the stem along with the roots and just set the "head" into dry soil, watered it after two weeks and now it has grown a lot of new roots.

      It worked!!!!!!! I put the stump of the plant back in old pot, forgot about it. I got a green leave shooting up out of the soil next to it about 3 weeks later. The stump is still brown but the plant is ALIVE! I have yet to plant the huge crown of the plant and it is suspended in a vase with no water or soil. It is still green. I plan to plant in new pot with some stakes to keep it upright. Thank you!

    Amazing update, thank you so much, and i'm really looking forward to part 3! I just bought an aloe vera a little over a month ago, separated it all up and planted them individually. In the beginning some leaves died (they were touching the soil) but now I see new leaves emerging from the plants, such pleasure to see! I'm following them each and every day. I hope one day they are big enough to use for juice and stuff. So yeah, good job, looking forward to part 3!

    I dread carrying my aloe vera in and out. Lost it roots couple times but I just stick it back and it recovers. It is bit of a diva during transitioning outdoors. I neglect it quite a bit and that is when it becomes huge and yes with the top heavy thing.

I had it in full sun in my southeast window so it got plenty of sun but now the leaves have gotten long to the point where the leaves are flopping to the sides so I found this video just in time, thank you again, I used chopsticks to prop up the leaves and it's doing well.😊

    I have a very large aloe vera that we had been propping up. Transplanted it today. It had about 6-8 pups in the planted with it. I will be looking for a large pot (ceramic if I can find one that's not too expensive). We have nearly 20 aloe veras at our house that have mostly started as pups for the 3 plants I bought about 5 years ago. Had more but let some of them get water-logged in the rain. I have given away several and will give away more.

    I've had my aloe for about a year and although it doesn't have any pups (i was severely underwatering it at first because my first aloe died from overwatering) I think I repotted it in a pot that's too small. It's so top heavy I had to stake it up. I wanted to try planting it deeper but was worried about rot. Thanks for this video!!!

    I have been told I have a green thumb buy friends and family because I don't seem to have a problem drawing one houseplant. I am looking at trying to broaden my horizons when it comes to house plants I was able to get my hands on about a three-foot clipping of a rubber plant I did make it shorter I youtubed how to transplant the rubber plant clipping. So see how that goes. A long time ago I was given another plant that did really well until I had to move I took the plant to my moms unfortunately my mom has black thumbs. Since then I have been trying to find that plant or a plant like it and I had been unsuccessful at doing so. Watching your video about transplanting a oversized aloe vera plant has has excited me. the plant that I was given babies I guess I don't remember how you put it through on the leaves and then would drop down into the soil and another plant would grow from that I have never seen nor have I ever found another plant like that. I have gone to nurseries I have tried talking to I think they're called Anthropologist on the web and it feels as if nobody knows what I'm talking about. My email address is tinamorris1969@yahoo.com. if you wouldn't mind e-mailing me a list of other plants where the babies grow on the leaves and fall down into the soil and grow I would be so much appreciative of that thank you so much will continue to watch you.

    I just did this today with mine and it was a huge struggle. I was planning on just pulling out the babies and adding fresh topsoil, but I had to pull out almost the entire plant and start a new pot. Just as soon as I started touching the roots the plant was no longer able to support itself at all. I ended up have to put a fairly large rock on top of the soil+root chunk to help hold the plant in the pot. I will remove the rock as soon as the plants are more established, but they would have just fallen out without it. In the future, a wider pot will be a better choice.

I think I used just regular potting soil, should I repot it with perlite? I am panicked to kill these beautiful plants! I know it says once a week, but a succulent I have is shriveling up. • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  7 років тому +3

      I'm sure the soil is fine... water the plant when the soil becomes dry... stick your finger into the soil to check below the surface. sometimes the top is dry... but underneath it's still wet.
      if your succulent is shrivelling it can be 2 things... 1 your plant needs a drink... or 2 the plant was overwatered and the root structure is failing.

      Brandon'sChannel Hi :-) I find that my Aloes grow best in a sunny location, although they can tolerate lower light levels than the cacti, I have found that they tend to grow lanky and spindly in lower light, I keep my aloes mostly dry during the winter time, only watering if they show signs of shriveling, and I start watering them again from the Feb onwards when they start to show signs of buds, (mine flower very late Winter to early Spring ) a well drained potting mix is a must and a sunny spot is the best tip, and only watering them when the soil has dried out in between waterings as they don't like their soil to be kept wet all the time :-) Hope this helps a bit and sending love and happy growing from Ireland XXXXX

      +heartfullofhappiness Maybe it grows lanky and spindly because it's using too much energy looking for light and growing upwards when it's not getting enough light?

    Great video. Mine are extremely leggy. I don’t get enough sunlight in my place so they are under artificial light. Thinking about replanting now that I’ve seen your video, but wondering if they’ll just become leggy again.? Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi Bill,
    Just watched your video and loved it. I have an abandoned and grossly overgrown aloe that I’ll be replanting to give it better support. My question is: why didn’t you separate the plants? Is there a reason that you left them clumped together in one root ball? Maybe I didn’t see the entire plant, but mine looks like yours only there are three of them all growing together in a clump. Would sent a photo, but not sure how to do that here.

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  5 років тому

      Hi Carol :)
      The only reason I didn't separate my allow is I don't have space for more... it was fun all wild and crazy. but it was personal preference

    Could the root be cut in half to keep it smaller? When you pulled that plant out of the pot to transplant, I thought, why not cut that root in half but I don't know aloes that well.

    My Aloe vera is so top heavy that it tipped over and the root ball came out of the soil. It is shaped like a C and even if I replant in a bigger pot it would have to go so far under the soil that it would be growing like a submerged C. What should I do to save it? Great video thank you for posting!

      So.... it sounds like you have a Big old aloe... I would chop off it's head... leave maybe 4 or 5 inches of the trunk.... let it Calus for a few days and then plant it.... put the original root ball in another pot... it should produce loads of babies as well... hope this helps

      @@PlantzNThings It is pushing 15 years old? I think I got a little plant at Krogers. I have only repotted it 3 times. I have forgotten to water it for months. The leaves will turn into ropes that look like fingers pointing ... like "you! bring water...!" Lately it looks like it is clawing to get out the window. The other thing I did was use regular potting soil. I have a black thumb. If my aloe vera plant could talk it would have chosen a different home. Maybe I can do her right from now on. Thank you for your help! My aloe vera is grateful!

    Haha your aloe plant looks nice. My mom, when she lived with me, planted a little one and it grew to about your size when she moved. Now a few years later, it's so big that the root is growing out of the pot. The pot is about 14" tall and 12-13" wide! It's got about 4" of root exposing and yeah! It's top heavy!!! So I'm looking around for videos that might help me cause I cannot get the plant to lay center. The pot itself is leaning over so maybe I have to replant it in the same pot but deeper? I want to use some 550 cord and make like a hemp basket but wrapped around the plant itself to help keep it centered. Not really sure what to do here other than wrapping the lower part and fixing it to the pot.

    Question- I had a large aloe plant and instead of repotting it, I put it in my garden. It's done great, but there's been a change. The inside sap went from clear and no smell to a green color with an awful stench. I thought it was due to poor soil so I beefed it up with lots of organic matter and waited months before breaking off a tip. The plant still has the green slimy appearance and a smell so bad, you'd rather suffer from the burns than put the skunk juice on it. Earlier this summer, it also produced a large, tight, spikey flower on a single stalk. So...why did the sap turn a different color and smell like a stink bomb? Was it something I did wrong, and is it safe to use the sap?

    You should water the dirt a little bit so that the dust is not flying everywhere. Also, separating the plants and pulling it but and reporting it would be better so that they are balance standing in the pot.

    Hello, I keep my aloe in the balcony and it was doing fine. Now it’s December and then I don’t water it much mayb once every three to four weeks. We had snow just for a day and the climate is around 25to 30 C degree in December . It is now sluggish and falling on its sides the color is like dark green on the edges and center is light green... I am assuming they just started dying... what should I do? I am thinking of repotting and bring it indoors??? What kind of light can I put for it?? Since it’s winter... plz help it’s my first plant and first time growing a plant lol

    I am not an expert on Aloe, but I wonder if you could use a 50/50 mix of your potting soil and sand. This is the basic recipe for cacti mix. This would also give your pot more weight and prevent it from tipping over. Although . . . I have seen a happy healthy Aloe that grew a long stem, grew completely over the side of a saucer pot, and laid out on the wide window sill, and then grew a 3 foot flower that is currently in beautiful orange blossom. It seems in rocky desert conditions such a habit would be natural, although Aloe grows most abundantly in the wild in Eastern South Africa, where there is a rainy season.

    My aloe I planted a year ago in sand soil wen I didn't know much about them. About a month ago I repoted it in new soil but same pot because the leaves were bending and braking. I soon figure out it only had four to five two inch roots. I replanted it in soil the garden centre gave me and watered it and it won't dry, so I'll see what happens but so far it's dying. It has two new leaves and the rest I had to cut off. I didn't over water m, so I don't know we're the roots went. I may have under watered. Would the play sand kill the roots? And will it come back to life now? Can u help me figure this out?
