Thank you I think I've got the answer to this Aloe I bought at a vintage store. Doesn't look so good but I'm gonna take your expertise and hopefully, it will come back to life!😊😊
Been hunkering down since my move to Ohio. Got my polytunnel put up a few weeks ago, and today made a compost bin and got some pots ready for winter sowing starting tomorrow. Pleasantly surprised at my bitter orange tree which has taken some pretty brutal temps(0F) and winds for its first time ever. See you on Saturday, I've got some tiny pink aloe(name escapes me) I need to repot, but they aren't trying to escape quite yet! 😋
Those things are tough plants! I miss mine a lot, but it had to go, was too dangerous to have around with the massive thorns. I'm sure I'll get another one someday.
I save bamboo chopsticks and use them as steaks because sometimes you don’t want some big Long things sticking out of a pot. I don’t know if that would be too small in this case. Keep us posted on Medusa! 😊
I had to laugh at you worrying about how your aloe looks. I wish you could see what mine looks like. It's an alien reaching out to escape its confinement.
My brother is moving back to Wisconsin in April, I guess you could say they are snow birds maybe, they move to Arizona for the winter months and have been unfortunately stuck down there through summer last year because of his cancer treatments. Anyway we have the opportunity to visit them in Arizona before they go back to Wisconsin, I really want to go because they say that a lot of cactus bloom there in March and I feel this is probably the last opportunity we’re going to get to visit Arizona with free room and board. With the cost of everything going up so much, social security doesn’t go very far so if we can go now its probably the time, because who knows what next year will bring. Anyway so looking forward to seeing Arizona, I LOVE to travel but haven’t had much opportunity to so I’m thinking it’s now or never. ❄️💚🙃
That sounds like it would be an amazing and worthwhile trip! Not just to be with family in there snowbird town but getting to see the cactus bloom would be awesome!
Hi Jeff! I like the wonkiness of your "Medusa" aloe. It has character! ;-) It will be fun seeing how it's doing in a few months. I like the pretty pot you had it in. Is it a Talavera pot? The new pot is pretty, too. Thank you so much for sharing!
They do like a lot of light indoors. I've had them grow just fine in my windows before which isn't the best lighting. The spot is nice and cool though so it makes for a nice spot for them to just chill and be more on the dormant end.
Hi jeff, good info on my aloe that a family member gave me. Went to take it from the shelf and it dumped it's dry soil everywhere and I was able to save this thing without destroying her arms. No one was hurt in the incident.... wondered about how heavy and wonky this thing is. Now I have a better idea of what to do to support it. As far as soil goes, have you ever tried SunGold Succulent or Cactus mix? (from Amazon) I like it a lot. Not a fan of the MG that you used, and yes, have bought it and added all kinds of stuff.
I'll have to look it up, that sounds familiar. I know there were a few mixes I used to get from Amazon that I liked. Proper mixes that were basically just various sizes of gravel. Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out.
@@TropicalPlantParty Black Gold, sorry not sun gold! I buy mine locally at Southern States, of all places. Ace hardware is next to Southern States, and they sell the same brand, but not the cactus mix. That is where I find it in my area.
Depends on the plant and growing conditions. If the plant is showing signs of active growth and proper lighting can be given then its usually not a problem.
Question, I have a cactus/succulent fertilizer from Miracle Gro that says to feed plant every 2 weeks. Should I feed my Aloe Vera plants every two weeks like the instructions says except during winter or don’t use that plant food as often?
QUESTION : if I have a plant that most if not all the leaves are dead on but the stem is a beautiful vibrant green do you think that I will be able to resurrect the plant? Unfortunately I took it down my basement with intentions of setting up my grow room and that did not happen, so it’s been without light and water for maybe going on two months. I’m hoping that I can save it along with my pink princess. ❄️💚🙃
If there's still green, there's still hope 😊 usually if you warm them up and give them lots of lights and consistency with watering they'll start to rebound... depending on the type of plant.
My mother had a snake plant. She moved in with us and along came the snake plant. I’m not fond of snake plants, some of them are okay but I didn’t much care for hers. Any way after she passed I became the owner of her snake plant and because I didn’t like like it didn’t get watered much, in fact I underwater plants all the time. Well it sat in a corner of our living room where she used to live and I didn’t water that thing at all. It survived about a year with no water, some plants ARE bullet proof. ❄️💚🙃
Mine was given me fried put with shorts everywhere pretty sure it's main root was taken or dead. Ibdo have a few pieces with stems that look like yours hanging out has circles rings aka nodes? Arpubd them. If separated all the bad or broken. I restock ut on water to rehydrate some n uts working. But I'm gonna need to pull them out. N plant or dry n plant. I'm not sure how to proceed. I have some tat have babies coming off everywhere I've always wanted one. I've list an attempt to grow even with a tuck shoot grow a baby n it dud goid but died. I have one left in a pot not dead I used dropper syringe to water it. So far I've had ita month ir 2 n its still alive. Not sure if it had pros under the dirt n maybe roots scared to look. But I need help to replant thus n get roots again plx help plzxz its alot ifwase ofa beautiful plant someone just left
Thank you Jeff ! Hope to see you on Saturday. Be safe ,stay healthy and as you say have a great rest of your week ! ❄️💚🙃
Always a pleasure! Have a great rest of your week! 😊
Just what I needed today!
Vertigo has been really bad these past couple weeks but last night did me in & I’m home in bed
Oh no I'm sorry! Vertigo sounds awful. Hopefully some rest and relaxation helps soothe the stress. 😊
@@TropicalPlantParty ty hope you are well & all the critters 🥰 I always enjoy your videos especially when I’m in bed not feeling well
I also have a sad, wonky aloe plant 😂 it’s been a few years as well. I’ll be repotting it this weekend, so this video was exactly the help I need!

That variegation on the aloe looks stunning..
Thanks so much for these kind of videos !!! Need all help can get , new plant mom 👩🏼

Back at ya, lorell! 🤗

I’ve got a bromeliad that grew crooked and bent at a funny angle like your aloe been working repotting to grow more upright

it's not sad, it has character😂
Ha! Well said 😅

Could you cut the stem back to a straight section so you can plant it center of the pot?
This is awesome. Mine looks similar to yours. I would've showed you a picture of it but I cant post pictures.
Make it your pfp and then everyone can see it
The Medusa Aloe!
❤️👹❤️

Yep, my huge enormous one got tipped over by one of my cats and broke several limbs because the pot was too small. It was so sad.
Cats! Been there!
I would love to try and grow a mangave. I’m just concerned that I won’t have enough light for it during the winter. ❄️💚🙃

After just watching a repotting video, what are your thoughts on repotting in the winter months? ❄️💚🙃

Where did you get the aloe’s pot that it was spilling out of? I love it!
I think I got that from homegoods.

QUESTION: can you fertilize a plant that’s on the struggle bus? Namely the one that has no leaves but a beautiful nice green vine.❄️💚🙃
I'd hold off on fertilizing until you start to see vegetative growth.

They really are tough! That one on the desk I found behind some stuff in the garage and been back there in the dark without water for nearly a year!
