- First of all: Sorry for bailing out of UA-cam for almost a year (10 months), but the reason is I started my first year at high school. So I was very busy with alot of work. I'm going to try to upload once in a while at least, but no promises..sooo might aswell subscribe to stay tuned eh?
Anyway I've seen a lot of these new Voi/Bird/Tier/Lime electric scooters recently and found alot of defect/broken ones. So my decision was so at least modify one of them and turn them into a personal scooter with a simple control board swap/replacement.
I was inspired by: scootertalk.or...
And wanted to try this, here is part 1 of my conversion. Hopefully this won't receive too much hate.

(Bird tank 1 and 2 should be the same, only difference are the brakes...and companies owning them🍻)
Much stronger and higher quality! (Both wheels have disc brakes for example)

I may or may not have made a dual motor electric scooter out of two scooters that I totally found lying in my front yard with a free sign attached to it, I just took the wheel off one of them, made a thin but surprising strong metal bracket for the back wheel and attached it to the other one. Then I just got two 30$ brushless 48volt 1000watt Chinese eBay ESC's and made a custom 13s battery out of the two scooter batteries and some salvage high drain 18650's. It only goes about 20mph but it has a lot of torque. I may be making a cgi video on it soon.

@@vonhb7471 I actually already made it although the first battery I made was not very strong and kept breaking apart so I'm currently building a 13s 10p battery out of some scooter batteries, hopefully I'll make a video within the next week, not sure how I would really film riding it yet. Cgi is computer generated image.

@@mrsuave4424 yes, and I actually pretty much finished the project. The battery is a 16s12p battery made out of 2.55ah scooter batteries and it's all in a custom box bolted to the scooter, with the bigger battery it goes 30 now. Everything else is pretty much the same as sorting out the battery has been the biggest issue. I'll let you know if I make a video but I am not very good behind a camera.

Hi there! Impressive work! Just curious how did you get yours to fold? Was it originally on the board or it was replaced with a foldable folk and deck?
Surong Lee Mine was some kind of limited edition voi, those models were gone about a week later.. In theory you could probably buy some foldable board/platform and do it that way? :)

I found a abonned es4 scooter, everything in it works and yea and I have a Voi scooter as well. could I put the original es4 control board and dashboard over to the Voi one and it’ll still work?

That depends. Battery and controller is in the tube. GPS contains the SIM

Actually, you either flash or replace the dashboard and flash the control board and BMS using py9b or NineRiFt (the latter of which, I wrote and am still adding to).

You need to flash the bms too? I was hoping only to replace the ESC and the dash, I may try to flash the ESC but I would rather not.

Does Dashboard and Circuit Board for an foldable (those ones that sells on eBay and Wish) work for the Segway-Ninebot ES4 non-foldable??? When I’m looking at the pictures everything looks the same as mine (except mine has a green cable that seems to go nowhere). I have asked several sellers on eBay and they say it will not work for the non-foldable. If not why?
Mine is an Segway-Ninebot ES4 non-foldable and branded with VOI.

Pedro Sanchez Roca Hey! Yes They use the same models, but some use ES4 instead of ES2 and the Xiaomi scooter. The gps part of the scooter is the black box on the front, some newer scooters dont have them, they use bluetooth/4G when you check the app to update their location. Its quite an interesting project, good luck!

Pedro Sanchez Roca Yes, but when you remove the gps it will stay «frozen» where it got disconnected and the scooter will start to beep and flash so make sure to disconnect the display first. If you want to avoid giving your neigbours the wrong idea... You can see the difference on the ES2 and ES4 by looking at the handlebar. It has a blue pedal and a gray brake button aswell as the texture is not glossy. Its more like sandpaper matt alike. Also it has a suspension thing at the back and ninebot written on the rubber pad. If its still hard to tell its possible to look underneath the scooter to check the model and other information 👍😊

I've seen the folding mechanisms available online to make these fold able again, but no videos on how to do it. I know they all originally come fold able and companies modify them to force them to stay upright with that plate with the QVC code on it, and some welds I think. I've seen the parts for like $15, on ebay any idea how hard it would be to install them?
Bart Rando Yeah, I’ve seen them too. The problem is that the platform is not compatible with the folding fork, it just does not fit :(
Do you have to replace the motherboard and dashboard to able to drive it ?
Yep, works if you only replace the motherboard though. Dash only gives you visuals on the speed and battery + bluetooth.

@@ToxicLion I found a VOI scooter near our trash container at work. It is a bit beaten up than the ones in your video. I think it s ES2. The scooter seems "dead". I tried to connect a charger on the external battery just for curiosity but there was no light on the batter, the charger shows green. What does that mean. Is the charging feature blocked or the battery is dead ? Is there a way to find if the batteries are dead or not ?I m planning to buy a controller board but want to check if the batteries are ok 👍
Jon petter batteries are most likely dead...so unless you disconnect the external battery from the main then its useless trying. The reason the charger shows green is because the load is to much/fully charged/or no load at all. So I would try charging the batteries separately to see if that has any effect. The charger can provide more amperage for them that way, and if it works then the external battery will make the charger flash red/green. Im a bit unsure about the internal battery, but charging it for like 3 hours and checking on it could work? :)

VeXo Yassin You need both the control board and dashboard for it to work 100%. You can ride without the dashboard, but then you wont have bluetooth since the dashboard the scooters have installed is restricted just like the control board. So if you were to try to connect your controller to the restricted dashboard it would not show anything or work with bluetooth. If that makes any sense?

Forfeit 7 TV yes, only on bird scooters. Lyft scooters will cause the dashboard to short. Lyft scooters have an extra wire that causes that

Did you have to pay and unlock it first to transport it? Then you disconnected the display (dashboard), and then you could remove the gps?

I did this 3 month ago and today the metal tube broke after a really smooth shock, at the bottom of the scooter, the tube is brake in half and it is not the screw but the tube itself that broke!
I think it's is because the location brand (this one was uber) are changing the tubes and make them in aluminium, it's cheaper and the scooter last for ~30 days before someone brake it so it doesn't change anything.
Be really careful with your scooter...

Randumb Productions oh my lord xD...Cant believe that some still think that. NO it is not located there, you’ll have to check it out yourself. Im not quite sure where it is, but you’ll spot it eventually - it could be somewhere visible on the scooter or maybe underneath inside ish..just take a close look.

1. Remove the GPS
2. Remove the handle
3. (Optional) if you have the external battery, remove it.
4. Turn the discs on the pole and remove the battery and control board.
GPSes could be differnet from model to model and company. :)

I think it will not work unless your new controller have the right serial number.
Josh Tori already did the «transplant» and it worked, but I still need to post the video. Only thing is that the display is not turning on...perhaps it needs a new display aswell?
So you just change the controller (by an activated one I think ?) and it will work ? For the dashboard, I saw that if the controller are not the same (a custom one) it will not work and it doesn’t have any Bluetooth. It can be change with oem one than have Bluetooth and power on/off button

David McMurran It was on, but didnt work. Me and my friend tried to ride it however it only had the lights on. The motor didnt want to start and there was no alarm or anything. So I’m not quite sure what was up with that scooter. 💯

iDiinco sometimes, yea. Dash + controller, BUT it is much easier to just flash the original dashboard and then you dont replace anything. Might post an update later on that👍

Luka Todua Well I guess that works for the GPS and about that circuit board; You’ll need it to convert a bird scooter to a personal one since they use their own type of custom programmed control boards.

at 2:12 when he was removing the extended battery, the sticker says GPS Tracked with an arrow. Is the GPS in the extended battery on this one?
no, the only gps is in the black box on the bottom of the pole. some scooters may have a Tile tracker, so look in the bottom floor board.
