Got mine this week! Works pretty good after waking up the batteries, had normal 20km/h speed limit and 95% charge limit for better battery life. Took apart the handlebar unit and did some soldering to reflash it. Got an extra 10km/h and BT connection out of it, not sure if it was worth all the extra work tho. Pretty excellent stock. Happy scooting!

BEWARE. I bought 2 scooters and 1 of them has a bad control board and dashboard. I'll be out another $100 at least to get it working. Jehu and his team hid behind the whole "as-is" sale in the description to avoid granting a partial refund to cover the costs of the repair. Only reason I was able to diagnose the issue was by tearing down another scooter I already owned and swapping parts. Honestly, not worth the time and effort now that 1 of them is bunk.

Hopefully , this reaches you .... the bluetooth is actually present on that dashboard , but is disabled ( since you can use it to lock/unlock it and in rental you won't leave that on) to enable it you have to connect to the ESC via the GPS juliet connector and use ninebot iAP to enable Bluetooth ( check my comment on the other video to know how)

@@giorgioarmignacco1346 I’m very tech savvy. When I get mine let’s see if I’m able to do it effectively. If so, Jehu should really make a video on this. Using the app/or any form of controlling via Bluetooth will be awesome.

@@Gold63Beast I tried the method above of hooking the dashboard to the Juliet connector as mentioned above and it blew the caps on the dashboard....word to the wise...dont try this.
Also you get get segways Ninebot ES4 controllers that have already been hacked online easy and cheap so for the DIY part can be easier for people. I offer controller and screen flashing.

I found those female barrel jack connectors in the right size as spare parts for a Xiaomi scooter. They are designed more like panel-mount connectors but they should work fine without cutting the charger.

@jehugarcia isn't the special discharge connector from the battery just a plain XT30? From the video it looks like one. Xiaomi scooters use XT30's on their batteries.

Got mine and charged the batteries up, now I get code 32 and always beeping. After some research it looks like I might need to reflash the esc and dashboard. I'll report back on if it works.
I'm in the same boat, any progress on your end. Looks like I might have to flash the dashboard with the ST-link USB serial communicator. The Juliet connector sticking out of the scooter doesn't show all the modules.
@@gildardo yeah I got mine all flashed. I took off the aux battery and went through that open connector for the rx/tx wires. I was able to get all modules except the aux battery of course. For that I plugged it back in and back probed the rx/tx coming out of the main esc module to the main battery, this took a bit because the communication kept pausing , so just give it a few minutes to finish.

Im running into an error 42 when I connect the external battery. I don’t have electrical contact cleaner but will try that. Otherwise it works great.

Any reason I can't use a 30v bench power supple to wake the batteries? I think BMS LVC is 30ish volts generally.
I have one of the retail version but the battery power output is dropping after a year of heavy use. Good guide here, can the battery be revived by jump starting as demonstrated or is it exhausted and likely needs replacement?
These are new unused batteries, you have old worn ones, completely different scenario

Alright, these things were in my city dump, i brought one home, i bought a charger, nothing, it says its fully charged and wont turn on, ive done this method, and my charger flashes green, not green and red, i cant get any information, on what it could mean, ive even plugged the circuit board back and and pluged the charger back in the port, as well as the handle bars and its still dead
Update: this is very common ordeal whilest troubleshooting, after poking around with the multi meter that the circuitry at the module at the bottom, theres something wrong there, you can either put 3-5 volts through it and test all points, traces, sockets and caps until youve found the culprit with the multi meter, and spend no more than a few bucks in parts with a soldering iron, or you can buy a replacement, and that also includes a new "dashboard" or screen for up top, its bluetooth compatible, and its 30$ online.

These scooters are offered in Germany sometimes.
The problem is that the US verison in the video does not have any street legality in the EU.
Besides it is not legal to ship these with Planes because of the risky batterys.
(Hence wy these offers are sadly always US only )
If you want a scooter that you can drive in germany there are companies that sell the rental ones as refurbished.
Since i don´t plan to buy any of these and dont know the sellers i advice caucion with these links :

How did you bypass the "remote activator" for the motor to start to work ?!
That type of scooters have one sim card that connect with the jump servers to unlock or lock the motor.

Does the dashboard need to be plugged into the esc in order for the batteries to charge thru the charge port? I have everything minus the dash which is on its way but I wanted to get juice in the batteries asap to avoid permanent damage
Update: as far as I’m aware mine is charging. The brake light is flashing because I’m assuming it’s looking for a dash when there isn’t one but it’s taking a charge

I just got on like this but it was branded Grin in Mexico. Mine doesn't not fold and from what I've researched it's because it's a repurposed rental like the one in the video. Do you know if there is a way to remodify it to make it foldable. Thanks.

Dumb question.... Is there a reason why one couldn't use something like an ISDT Q8 (Or other Lithium Ion charger one might have), even though it can only do 8S, not the 10S that I assume these packs are, to bring the voltage up a bit vs hacking apart the actual charger? How many volts does it take to get the BMS to wake up and allow the charge?
No reason. It just makes more sense to suggest using the actual charger people need to buy to use the scooters.
@@jehugarcia Thanks - Got mine yesterday and I was able to revive the packs with my ISDT Q8 enough for the BMS to wake up and take the charge through the charge ports - the Scooter is alive and both batteries are recognized.
A few points - these DO have bluetooth, it's just disabled in the current rental firmware. I used 'Method 2' found here (www.scooterhacking.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=252) to flash different firmware the the BLE and DRV modules. After flashing BLE, the bluetooth indicator started flashing and it is now recognized by the segway app and I was able to change the speed from KPH to MPH, see battery lever, scooter statistics, etc.
Also, the screws provided to attach the stalk to the base are the incorrect size (or there was something wrong with the ones I got). They appear to be 1/4 x something, but the correct thread is M6x1.0. I couldn't hand thread any of them in very far and trying to crank one down didn't go well. The M6x1.0 screws I picked up threaded in smooth as glass. I believe the ones I got were 12mm long (just a touch longer than the ones provided. Trying to use the ones provided will be extremely difficult to get fully tightened (If all are like the ones that came with mine), and will mess up the threads.

Easier way to boost a battery attach a battery of same or slightly lower voltage in parallel
Need to be careful with that. The dead pack will pretty much suck up energy as fast as whatever is supplying it can give it, so if you were to connect another 10s pack, that would be a lot of current, which could potentially cook things. By using a charger, you limit it to whatever the charger can supply, like the 1.7A the linked charger can supply. I used an ISDT Q8 to get enough of a boost into the packs to wake the BMS and get them to accept charge through the charge port without hacking up the stock charger, and there are also creative ways to use the stock charger without hacking it up. Not saying it's 'bad' to hack up the stock charger because of course, it can be fixed, but I wanted to keep mine intact.
@@aperson9495 agreed, I should have said only as a last resort, the chargers I have need a minimum voltage. I usually only connect for a flick to 2 seconds ONLY if a charger won't work.
Are these DIY kits certified? Not sure it's legal to recombine parts of a vehicle (it's not in Europe)... Does JAG35 take responsibility if one falls apart while riding?

I got my unit many many months ago but only got around to disassembly, charging and reassembly this weekend. Finally got it all together tonight, charges fully, display seems to work and the cool LED lights come on. But the most important feature, a powered scooter does not seem to work. Pressing "Go" or "Brake" has no impact, nothing happens. If I manually scoot forward I see the speed changing so at least some wires seem to be attached. I appreciate these are 'as is' but does anyone have any advice on how to debug this issue further and hopefully reach root cause - or at least a level where I know what to order to resolve the issue. Thanks in advance.
You do know you have kick start these right? Sometimes you have to go faster than other times before the go button starts working
