The Great Guitar Build Off : Invitationals. The One Piece Build (Voiceover + 5 things I never do)

  • This is build n°9, and my 6th guitar build!
And this is also a very special video for me as it is my official entry to The Great Guitar Build Off 2021: Invitational competition. It is a friendly competition where UA-camrs and Makers get the opportunity to showcase their creativity through the building of a guitar. The 10 guitars then get auctioned on eBay and all proceeds are going to different charities across the globe. This year's line-up is composed of UA-cam superstars ... and me (must be an intern's mistake that Crimson Guitars, host of the event, had to stick to): CSGuitars, Tamar 3x3, Tim Sway, Laura Brokenwind, Crafted Workshop, Jimmy Diresta, Ben Crowe himself, Dylan Talks Tone and Brad Angove!
I know that this is not a unique concept, but one-piece guitars are rare enough to make a video like this visually interesting, especially without the use of a CNC, and challenging enough to be fun to build.
LINK TO THE AUCTION (ends on July 2)
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1545026150...
This guitar is the first one that I'll ever sell and probably the only one for a very long time, but it's for a good cause.
Half of the profits are going to the GGBO's own charity which aims at providing tools and courses to aspiring luthiers in need, and the other half is going to the charity that the invitational participants chose. In my case, the money is going to " Infirmiers de rue " (Street Nurses), a Belgian non-profit organization which aims at ending homelessness in Brussels through on-site healthcare and rehousing.

There is nothing wrong with promoting your talents and your business. We all are feeding ourselves at the trough of marketing. Even the lowly janitor or truck driver wouldn't have a job if the marketing department didn't market. Many folks have completely lost sight of reality and have become the enemy unto themselves. But sadly, they are too socially conditioned to realize it. (Pavlov's dog's and Bernay's smoking women)

Taught through junior high school and high school. I didn't it for 5 years and tought everything from a design then build method. My last year in collage a was a few credits short so I built an acoustic guitar from scratch long before youtube. So I found a book Guitar building: Tradition and Technology. I made everything even the tress rod. It came out okay I had no one to ask questions and I learned a lot. A lot. I love your fancy Rasp and your spoke shave. I love hand tools block

Seriously enjoy both types of videos you do! Very satisfying to just hear the noises of woodworking and you have a natural ability for voice over. Thanks for all the info and great content!

I think I'll try to find a middle ground in the future videos. I had to talk a lot here because of the contest and everything but I can tone it down to the essential in the next builds (I mean I dont have to comment every single frame, people aren't stupid )

Again, great work! I didn't realise it was on the invitational thingy. It shows how far your "insecurity on your artistic choices" can bring you :p

"Infirmiers de Rue" is a great organization. Good you know them, fantastic you actively to support them !
I worked a couple of years for "Les Petits Riens", despite my job is not specifically oriented towards this sector. I couldn't agree more: yes, you can have a positive indirect impact on some people's life.
Also, good you coated the guitar with so much oil :)
