The entire album is a story. The Movie is good at explaining. It is an emotional wall that people end up building to protect themselves. And each negative thing that happens to us just adds another brick. Once your wall gets to high you will become unreachable until you break down your wall and expose yourself. It is a very deep concept.
@@mavjimboIt's not just the song, that's the underlying premise of the entire album. If you have not heard it... start to finish, in order, then you have missed out on the full context. It's a true concept album. Each song adds to the story and helps explain what the main character is experiencing and how the wall got built
It is indeed well worth watching! However, that's sadly easier said then done. It's nearly impossible to find on streaming services. And as far as physical media, it has only ever been officially released on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD. So many mediocre movies have been released on 4K UHD blu-ray but here we are in 2023 and we can't even get "Pink Floyd The Wall" on a HD one. I don't know if it's a rights thing or what but it makes me sad. Hopefully my cherished DVD will continue to work in the future.
I was just about to comment that she should watch "The Wall". I would've suggested watching it with friends on acid like I did watching it for the first time. However in hind sight that's probably not a very good idea...lol...
I was in high school when this came out. This became our anthem back in 70's. I do believe that because of this song a change took place in our generation , and yes, it really changed attitudes towards the same old same old education. We broke out and went our own ways. So Pink Floyd started something big. Your comments were Spot-On !!!!
As a concept album, it's worth watching or listening to it in its entirety. It's vulnerable and demonstrates some of the best internalization of life experiences some people go through. It's not an easy watch, but it is cathartic. Edit: This video is from the whole feature film, The Wall.
@Jeff Fredenburg Going through the stages of his life; the constant doubt and belittling that became his wall, then bringing it all down, after he recognizes that this incredible pressure was put upon him... Oh man, I connected hard with this album in the late 90's when I was in high school. It was pretty much therapy, and a lesson in what not to do.
I agree with that, I still have the vinyl album, if you look at it, it's fully played, almost deteriorated by playing it over and over again. Good I have also the album on CD.
The album and movie "the wall" changed my life as a 13 year old kid. It literally changed my life forever. Of course, the psychedelics helped as well...
Hard to really get the full story of any song off of The Wall album, the whole thing is one long narrative. (It's like reading one random chapter in a book). Would love to see you react to the whole album, it's a masterpiece, very emotional moments. All that said, great reaction as always.
Look not every song in The Wall is a masterpiece worth listening to! Some are just average and some are even plain garbage! Not everyone can sit through the entire album of average songs, that are not worth paying attention to! Wish You Were Here and Animals are both much much better in that regard! But The Wall is kinda weak, except maybe 4 or 5 neat songs...
@@Summon256 it's true, song by song it's certainly not their best album, but "the wall" shouldn't be judged song by song, it's in its entirety that it rises to one of the greatest masterpieces, or perhaps the best concept album in rock history. And by the way "comfortably numb" alone is worth a discography 🙂
@@emilianovicentini8755 No, it is;'t it's overrated as hell and definitely not as good as people claim it is! The live version of it made it tenfolds better because of that solo in the end, but without it it's a decent song at most...defenitely not a masterpiece people claimimng it to be! I don't even have it anywhere in my top-10 PF songs, let alone being the best one...
@@Summon256 mmm... my english is poor and i'm relying on google (apologies)... if you're talking about "comfortably numb" when i wrote "alone is worth a discography" i meant the discography of many other bands, not of Pink Floyd. "Comfortably numb" in the studio version is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, the live version, one of the top 3-5 for the reason you say. But these are personal tastes. I don't think it's overrated. As for the album "the Wall", out of 26 tracks, perhaps 3 are to be considered excellent songs (Definitely "hey you" and "another brick in the wall part 2" as well as "Comfortably numb"), the others are divided between good (Run like hell for example) , average and simple intro, outro or moments of passage between one episode and another, functional to the story. And that's what I meant: "the wall" is a masterpiece as a whole, as a concept. Judging them song by song, at least half should be trashed. I hope I was clearer now 🙂
Excellent and exactly correct!!! PINK FLOYD AND TO LISTEN TO THEIR MUSIC IS AN EXPERIENCE TO BE ENJOYED RELAXING, ABLE TO ENJOY THE RIDE.❤❤❤❤❤ I SAW THEM 5 TIMES IN CONCERT HERE, AN AMERICAN IN THE U.S.
The whole album was conceived as a "Rock Opera" and tells a story, but was intended to be listened too in its entirety. Also, this is from the film, "Pink Floyd: The Wall" (1982), which is fantastic. I would highly recommend viewing it and the poem the young boy is writing in this video is actually the lyrics to their song "Money".
I'm 50, but I subscribe to few reaction channels for the learning and expanding of the younger generations that have no idea what has come before. This one is a standout Aileen😍. Young people have no understanding of what a "concept album", or a cohesive story in music is because algorithms HATE it. I see rays of hope every time I watch these videos hoping people will investigate further to understand how we got here. Watch "The Wall" Aileen, you will understand so much more(and no, you don't need drugs for it to make sense😂). The movie is the visual to the albums audio. Ground-breaking, mind-blowing, and anyone in power absolutely hated it.
Yea I've been poking around a bunch of different Reactors, and a lot are very similar. A small intro, they listen to the song, maybe stop once or twice, then a short outro with very little way of explaining how they felt about what they just heard. Aileen is one of a very small group that actually takes time to explain her actual thoughts and opinions on the song.
This hits me so hard it's unbelievable, as a child in the 70's I was renowned amongst the family for my singing, had perfect control from my diaphragm and pitch and tone control everyone thought I would be a singer until 1 day at community singing class I was told to be quiet as I was putting everyone else off and I have never been able to sing a note in tune since, every time I hear 'mares eh dotes ' it breaks my heart thinking about what could have been, nuff said!
Jesus mate that is rough. I'm sorry one of those sadists got their claws into you early. Have you thought of just trying again now that you're older and see if you can get some pleasure out of it as a hobby? Or do you fear the revisiting of that trauma? Whatever goes on, I feel for you.
@ Kennethcurtis I was in a band as a rhythm guitarist for 18 years. The singers name was Kenneth Shane Curtis. He was a bad ass on vocals and lead guitar. I feel like I came across your comment by divine intervention. Believe in yourself man. If you could do it then, you can do it now. Praying for you 🙏 you are the only one who can kill your dreams
@@larrysims7235 With a name like ' Shane ' I can imagine him being quick on the draw and a demon shredder . Thanks very much for your kind words and thoughts, they are truly appreciated although with prayers being such rare and precious things may I ask that you reserve yours for those who are truly in need and deserving of them as that will ensure that you are doing all 3 of us a sincere kindness, once again thank you very much, its truly appreciated.
Critic Leonard Maltin described the film Pink Floyd's The Wall as the world's longest rock video, certainly the most depressing. As it is the story of a person's decent into madness and the Bricks that build the Wall between him and reality, depressing is appropriate. Great film. Great album, Great story.
Way better than what Nostalgia Critic did. Make a near 40 minute parody making fun of most of the songs, has the gall to release a album full of the songs he made into parody calling it a "love letter" even though in his parody of this song he has the line "Just grow a damn set of balls", then ends it with 5 second "review" saying he liked it fine, then called it a bit pretentious. 🙄After what he pulled, he has little right to call anything pretentious.
The entirety of Pink Floyds The Wall album is truly a complete masterpiece. A story so true to modern times. My fav sing has always been Comfortably Numb
Back in the day when that song came out, it came with a lot of controversy teachers in particular didn’t care for it, so we would have to sing it a little louder at school the good days 😂
This Video was taken from the movie that accompanied the ''The Wall album. The whole 'The Wall' project was always planned as an Album, a stage live show and a movie. The live show took place only at 4 locations around the world, because the stage with this long a high wall did not fit into most arenas at this time (1980-1981). You were able to experience it 7x in Los Angeles (USA), 5x New York (USA), 11x London (England) and 8x Dortmund (Germany). After the tour the movie was shown in cinemas all over the world. You will only be able to get the full meaning of the story after you listened to the album, watched the stage show and the movie. Roger Waters staged the show once again in Berlin 1990 after the Berlin Wall fell and all over the world between 2011 and 2013.
Amazing reaction and interpretation. The look in your eyes while you're watching the video and your facial expressions shows that you've really "felt" the song and its message. And I think the way you talked about it shows that you're incredibly intelligent.
This album came out in 79 I was fortunate to see this concert in October 1980. They played all 26 songs in order. Nothing from the early catalog. Please check out the Wall movie 🎥 from 1982. Or have a watch party 🥳. Great reaction!!! 👍
I grew up with Pink Floyd, both my parents were lucky enough to have seen them live. I was actually listening to this song in the car the other day and it's still so relevant. Both my kids have finished with school at 17 and 19 and with one of them being autistic and the other not being really academic, although he is intelligent enough, it's been blaringly obvious to me how much our education system is failing our kids.
No if Pink Floyde does not make you think and speak they did not do their JOB my dear. Hail to the Thinkers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a fantastic song! It reminds me of my childhood when the wall fell in Germany. The song has been played many times. A piece of contemporary history in my head and heart!😍
Maybe the wall should have stayed considering your country alongside the UK are now at war again ( Germany) against Russia who again will beat the fascists from the west (Nato) 😢 peace and love from socialist Liverpool and may God protect Russia 🇷🇺
This song was No1 in the UK for 8 weeks 79/80. the film came out 2 years later. They had many great albums but their 2 monster hits were the Wall and Dark side of the Moon, 2 very different albums, not many bands have 2 defining albums. Edit: For those who disagree. Dark Side 45m Wish You Were Here 20m Animals 12m The Wall 30m.
I don't know how many times I shed a tear to songs I've heard thousands of times thanks to your reactions and comments. This is clearly one of the best if not the best reaction channels I've seen and I've seen a lot. Exactly what you said about teachers / adults encouraging us to follow our dreams only to then ridicule us when we try. Spot on! I'm a bassist myself so I know exactly what you're talking about. Your intro / outro song is totally my jam and it would be cool to see you react to the band Windhand, maybe their song Diablerie or Orchard. Thanks for restoring some hope for humanity. Cheers!
Do yourself a favor and watch the movie, "The Wall".... the entire Pink Floyd album set to a visual narration of each song, front to back. It flows and you will understand every song.
I love seeing people connect with this music. I felt the same way about Pink Floyd when I was your age. Their music can mean so many things. I re-listen to their albums every few years and I always discover something new each time. Thank you for sharing your experience.
The INFJ in you was loving the last part of the video. Do yourself a HUGE favor, and watch The Wall, and listen to the Entire Album The Wall. You won't regret it. 👍🏼✌🏼
No need to apologize for talking too much, that's the whole idea of a reaction video. You're sharing your thoughts & feelings with us about how music makes you feel & in so doing, you are making it far more personal than it just feeling like you're that side of the screen & we're this side. You're making it OUR conversation. Thank you.
Okay. So this is Part 2 which released as a Single as well. Even taken from the album in context, it helps to hear all three in order to enjoy the theme's evolution through life's experiences told in more detail from the rest of the recording. I can remember EXACTLY where I was when I first heard this: The night of The WHO's concert tragedy in Cincinnati OH several of us were sitting, listening to WEBN whom was playing all four sides of The Wall in order. In between album sides we received reports from the 'Colosseum' about the injuries and deaths. Considering the mind altering elements we were experiencing, it was quite a night, forever etched.
Your assessment of Floyd, even with the limited amount you've heard, is dead on. There is not another band I can think of who are better at making you `feel` what they're talking about. The music always seems to match the lyrical content flawlessly. So, you're right. Even if you didn't have the lyrics, you could still tell if it was sad, or angsty, or happy, or crazy, etc etc.
Fun fact, the guy in the picture at the end is Bob Geldof, singer of the Boomtown rats. They have a song called “I don’t like Mondays” written about an attempted school shooting. He also acted in the movie The Wall.
What I always thought about the portrayal of the school and the children, is as you said, the school just blends everything/everyone (like a meat grinder) into one homogenous blob and sends it out into the world, with the kids all wearing a similar mask to show them being stripped of any individuality or uniqueness. Just memorize what we teach you, don't think for yourself or outside the box, and become what we tell you to become. Feels like you can still see that happening today.
Phenomenal reaction. You really got it. That meat grinder is such a good representation of "Into the meat grinder". Into the system like the rest. You should really watch Pink Floyd the Wall movie. It's the whole album put into one long music video and it's amazing.
Oh yes, Aileen the Empath hits home! I wouldn’t say this is ahead of its time though. This issue, and many others are as old as time itself. For as far back as you want to go, there have been people seeking to rewrite history to further their agendas. It was bad in the 60’s and 70’s and this song was a reflection of that.
Just found this critique. Everyone’s right; this is a movie clip and you need to watch the whole movie. When Pink Floyd was dissolved as a band, in the 1980s, they were asked if they would ever play together again. The reply was, When the Berlin Wall comes down. On July 21, 1990, the band reunited to present The Wall on the torn remains of the Berlin Wall, a free concert that packed the Potsdamer Plaza.
Pink Floyd's The Wall is a masterpiece. No matter how many times I've watched it, there was something more than seemingly missed from times before. Layers upon layers of emotions. Sid Barrett was the inspiration behind Pink Floyd's The Wall. Pink Floyd is at the top of my list of favorite bands. Seen them in concert and was awestruck by not only their performance but also their light effects and stage props. Undoubtedly, their message was delivered and received.
@@ThePflcpsa I knew of "wish you were here" but than through word of mouth then, I also related "The Wall" to Syd and never thought to look further as I were around 15 and the information stuck. Thank you for this clarification.
The Wall is a journey through madness with fantastic music to soundtrack it all. I urge you to listen to the whole album,in your own time if you want, but after dark side and animals with such pressure to come up to that standard, they did it again. Great album.
It is amazing timeless genius how most of Pink Floyd’s music is part of one big story of their lives and the lyrics relate back to other songs… when you speak of how kids are molded to fit certain expectations and not live their dreams, it takes me back to “Comfortably a numb”: “When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look, but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child is grow, the dream is gone…”
I grew up with an education system like this, where the teachers mocked us and even slapping us if we did something wrong. Many years later, when the video was released, only then this song made sense to me. You see, Pink Floyd is kind of an acquired taste. You need to listen their message once, twice, three or more times to get the full depth of what they mean. As a teenager in the 80's I never cared much for the lyrics, if the rhythm was right, then I would like the music. Now, almost 60, I do appreciate music much more and better. Awesome that you picked straight away what was happening in the beginning. My dear Succubus, you have no idea of what you still have to discover, and not just this band we grew up with. Kind regards.
I’m a bit confused. While she is young and should not be faulted for her timing of birth, why do you feel the need to say dear succubus? And then…say best regards?
You need to play the entire album. It is like an opera story. Also when I was a kid growing up, the teacher unions here in the US did not want radio stations to play this song.
Yet ANOTHER great reaction. I love watching you experience the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. Your life will forever change ( in the best way). Give us more. May I suggest “In any Tongue” live in Pompeii. I think you will love it.
Hey Aileen - Your Pink Floyd reactions are so awesome! The movie 'The Wall' was amazing but it is a heavy watch! Check out 'Run Like Hell' next - you will absolutely love that track. Have a great week - thank you for all the amazing videos you do :) BTW please do more classic Iron Maiden!!!!!
YES!!!!! I would like this reaction fifty more times, if youtube would let me. Albums like this are why Pink Floyd has the fandom it does, the irony is that the kids that grew up loving this music became the ones crushing the dreams of the next generation.
First I just never apologize for expressing your feelings you experience with music. This is just the tip of the iceberg the movie The Wall is an epic story in visuals, music and incredible meaning well worth the time to watch. There is so much amazing music to be discovered I personally have loved music my entire life. My Playlist is so random but I have been fortunate enough to have been exposed to so many different genres of music over the years. The greatest thing about your videos is that you have a genuine love of music of all sorts. I really don't understand how someone can limit themselves to one genre with so many incredible artists out there.
I had a teacher a horrible women, hid the fact she had a problem with boys, in th end she got found out, but i had to move school, she remained at the school. ironically she also had my older sister to which she loved . there were atleast 2 other boys she hated or treated badly , she got found out but for some reason she was allowed to continue.
This entire album is 1 story, each song being part of it. The teacher is Scottish because Roger Waters' teacher was Scottish, and tells him his poetry is rubbish - it's the lyrics to "Money" from the Dark Side Of The Moon album, the 2nd best selling album of all time lol. This video is from the movie of the album, which is a great movie :)
I'm not sure if I would say Darkside is the number 2 selling album of all time since the top 2 are Eagles Greatest hits with 38 mil sales (38x Plat) and Michael Jackson Thriller at 34 mil sales (34x Plat) . . Darkside is #16 in sales at 15 mil (15x Plat) . Either way it is a great album . Personally my favorite is Wish you are here especially Shine on You Crazy Diamond (all parts)
Powerful song, with a great beat behind it. Pink Floyd is in my top 3 favorite bands (along with Tool and Nine Inch Nails). Cool to see you break down this video and song's meaning. Good insight! Great reaction!
2:19 the poem here is lyrics from the Pink Floyd song "Money" off the album "Dark Side of the Moon" which is one of the longest running albums in Top Music charts & amongst the highest selling albums of all times. What I love most about Pink Floyd albums are they are a single story told over a series of songs and need to be listened to in their entirety uninterrupted to the massage of the albums. Great band that my conservative upbring meant I didn't listen to it when it was released but a massive fan of today. "The Wall" has been made into a movie that is truly worth the watch. Adults to kids " Dream big but only our dreams"
Lord I grew up with this band (I’m 54) and I’ve heard this song and seen this video hundreds and hundreds of times. You’re the first reactor I’ve watched react to this who gets the symbolism and the message behind the song and video..well done! Love to see young people keeping great rock music alive! Keep it up!
The Wall record was made 1979, when I still was in school. I heard it and was blown away. It was first time I heard Pink Floyd (That I was aware of it) I became a teacher myself and had my 2nd grade play it live and the other classes (and parents) were wild. I've always said to "my" kids; you can do it, no matter what. Maybe it'll take a little time, but if you want it, you can do it. The studio version is without all the talking, this is taken from the movie The Wall. Please watch it🙏🙏🙏
I can see so well in your eyes, Aileen, how deeply you're feeling this. Your eyes betray the emotions of your heart and it's a beautiful thing to see. ♥ If you've not seen it yet, I highly recommend checking out the 1927 silent movie, Metropolis, as it explores a similar theme and still resonates with modern society. I was near to graduating high school when this album came out and it was an incredible experience. Like almost all Pink Floyd albums, the full album is the complete story. The music was always amazing but half the love for Pink Floyd was deciphering the meaning of the work. Many were the nights we would turn off the room lights and sit down, joint in hand, and just listen to The Wall. At this time, videos were in their infancy and this one wasn't made until a few years afterwards. Thankfully, in my high school, we were rarely pushed into fitting in to the mold of 'proper' society - the meatgrinder that strips us of our souls. I have always taught my sons to be themselves and explore as many different facets of life as they could but to also appreciate where it all came from. Their love of all forms of music is a blessing to me and we're always giving each other suggestions for what to listen to next. When my eldest was about 4, we were in a record store and I was looking through the Pink Floyd section. Out of the blue, he tells me that if I don't eat my meat I can't have any pudding. For a grade 7 music lyrics report he chose Dear God by XTC, flooring his teacher with his comprehension of the song's cynical meaning. Good music knows no time period and no generational divide.
Every PF album is actually meant to be listened to in one sitting, even though they were basically forced to write "radio friendly" material, like this song actually is. I would love to watch your reaction to their albums in their entirety. In the case of The Wall, just remember that there actual characters. It's not just one person. It's a story. All their albums are.
This video was just a clip from the movie The Wall, directed by Alan Parker and the main role was played by Bob Geldolf of Boomtown Rats and he also did the Live Aid event that was INCREDIBLE!!
If no body has mentioned... When they do this live, usually towards the end of the show, they build a brick wall on the stage until you can't see them and then it breaks down at the end.
The whole album and movie is about a fictional character named “Pink Floyd” or “pinky” that is Rock star that spirals into insanity and the opening song “in the flesh” says “is this not what you expected to see, if you want to find out what’s behind these cold eyes, you’ll just have to claw your way through this disguise” then the movie and songs shows how his life built one brick on top of the other till he had locked himself inside his own emotional and mental prison inside the wall. It’s an amazing masterpiece of work. Love it so much..PS the last song on the album ends with the beginning notes of the first song so it can literally be played in a loop with no ending, like the person is in a never ending loop of madness with no way out.
When I was 16 in 1980, I listened to the Wall album for two years non stop nearly and had a vision in my head as to what the film would be like. When I eventually watched the Movie in 82, It was nothing like I imagined. But it put the whole album and a lot more about Floyd in perspective. Well worth watching it's legendary. cheers.
Great reaction, you nailed this song. I was in maybe 5th grade when The Wall was released, the album was released before the film. I'm so happy watching the young react to the Pink Floyd rabbithole!
Your reactions are spectacular! This album came out my Freshman year of high school and we all wore it out. At lunch time every day this would blare outside the school
Never apologize for dissecting Pink Floyd. It's SUPPOSED to make you think! I just got into these music reviews and I'm 65. I've listened to Pink Floyd since I was 15. I found your channel just looking up a PF song to hear and I'm so AMAZED to hear a young lady dissect PF. It makes me feel awesome to hear a young person ...Just...Get it!
being an avid Floyd lover, you really made me chuckle when you asked if this was from a movie, priceless, and fyi, yes! its from the movie, Called Pink Floyd - The Wall, staring bob geldoff, thanks so much for making me feel old btw, loving your reactions, putting a smile on the dial.
It's so good to see someone catching all the subtext and the whole point of this song. Honestly, loved watching you. Meat grinder is a metaphore of killing your childhood, your joy of life, your individuality.
Brilliant take on this song!! Very eloquent and spot on across the board! Was 9 years-old when I heard this song and our 4th grade teacher would call us dummies on occasion. The "dark sarcasm in the classroom" back then was VERY real!! The song almost scared the hell out of me at such a young agen.
Thanks for your reaction. I'm a bit late (just discovered your channel & subscribed today). The song was released in 1979 (album The Wall)--the images that you see are taken from the movie the Wall (released in 1982). I don't know where you can find it (I still have the original VHS tape from the 80's,so I don't need internet to watch it). Have a nice day & I'll check what else is on your channel.
I love Pink Floyd and there fan's, I've been listening to them for forty years and have never tired them on drives they eat through the miles, thanks for your reaction
Great reaction Aileen 👍. The Movie "The Wall" is a must! This clip is from the movie. Its a much bigger picture/message in context of the entire album (and moreso the movie). No it wasnt ahead of its time, this is what it was like in the late70s/early 80s ...teachers used to punish us ...some of us for thinking outside the box or being a "lazy daydreamer" (now known as ADHD). There was so much tension from our supressed non compliance to the mould. So the teachers would smash our hands (or bums in earlier eras) with leather straps or canes. Parents were 'allowed' to do the same too, all in the name of compliance to authority. "Kids must be controlled" was a common statement. The rebellion thru the solo, was the little boy daydreaming of what we all wanted to do. A pressure cooker of suppression. Back then (in Oz) you werent even allowed to use minor swear/cuss words. Then in the early to mid 80s corporal punishment was banned at schools. Then later again, not even parents could 'smack' their kids anymore (which was very normal at the time in most households). There was a massive sense of growing freedom in our rights and individuality, starting in the mid to late 80s, and continuing through the 90s. But then in the late 90s to 00s, more and more "rules" started to be mandated, public liability insurance (which wasnt even a thing in 70s/early 80s) got out of control. And thus we went backward ...more n more n more rules, with each few years. Security cameras started to be installed in our streets in the 00s (in Oz) more n more. At 1st this was an intrusion ...now its "normal". How gradual each change (of control) started to happen, and so subtly, while we "got used to it". Wow, how easily we lost the freeedom we gained. And on and on it continues. Each new generation knows no different, and is being trained in so many "legal rights", and "individual rights" that it controls us from how we enter each others space. While some of these 'rights' are necissary, its gotten so out of control, that we are more distant from each other now. We have now become so entitled and "push" our personal expectations so much, that we are unknowingly imprisoned by our own egos. Theres a sense of heightened paranoia among our interactions with strangers and the world around us now, which wad never there before. The 80s really were as free as we would ever be allowed to be ...or maybe they just lost their original grip on us n took awhile to work out how to get us back under their control. Now we have rules for rules. Crazy how we reverted to this. Maybe thats why violence and crime is on the rise again. It was pretty wild in the 70s n early 80s too when we were so supressed ...again, like nowdays, only in a different way.
I’m 65. I grew up with this. Like so many have said, you have to watch The Wall. I loved your review and reaction. You covered everything and showed that you get it. The Wall is simply a brilliant album. Another Pink Floyd album I would recommend is Animals. That album is mind blowing. It’s dark and angry. I think you’ll like it. Best wishes.
The Video isn't way ahead of it's time but the fight we have been fighting before. Time is constant but History repeats itself. Kudos to you for getting this! You earned a new sub!!
Pink Floyd is timeless . Music and lyrics paint a picture in your mind . There albums are like conceptual rock operas to me . Glad to see you get into this as much as I always did . I hope you watched The Wall by now .
Love your take on this song. Pink Floyd's lyrics always seem to tell of life's truths. Teacher's often use their power over the children in psychological and physical abuse. When I was in the 2nd grade I had a teacher who emotionally and physically abused me. I am a mother of 2 who had to at times basically tell them to leave my kids alone or eles... My children are adults now but they never forgot and I didn't either. GREAT INTUITION ❤❤
You should watch live in Berlin when the Wall came down it's a star-studded concert with a crowd that is one of the largest I've ever seen for one event one band it's spectacular and Sinead O'Connor singing mother... Tremendous
The wall came out my Junior year of high school in 1979 . I listened to it over and over .. this year is the 50th anniversary of dark side of the moon . there are many good pink floyd tribute bands touring and all are celebrating the dark side.. I will be going to see brit floyd on april 29th I see them every time they come to my st. best tribute band out there..
Please don't ever apologize for feelings and especially when it comes to Pink Floyd, we (the ones that grew up with them) had them and you have them, so have them!❤ And I LOVE your fire, keep being you and don't ever change to appease ❤️🔥
Hi InnaMusic ! I saw Pink Floyd 3 times and this show in Montreal. In a stadium of 60,000 people. When the mirror ball appeared, millions of stars filled the whole stadium. It was majestic. But a little information about the guitarist, David Gilmour, his dauhter-in-law is Ukrainian. I really like your video reactions. Take care.
The poem that the teacher makes fun of the kid for writing are the lyrics to "Money", another great Floyd song you should check out 🙂
It's just like Ren mocking his own songs.
That teacher would be the main character in 'The Final Cut '
Probably the most instantly memorable bass-line of all time.
👍
Yep. You beat me to it
The entire album is a story. The Movie is good at explaining. It is an emotional wall that people end up building to protect themselves. And each negative thing that happens to us just adds another brick. Once your wall gets to high you will become unreachable until you break down your wall and expose yourself. It is a very deep concept.
Really like how well you stated your thoughts about the song
I'll bet that at least 80% of Pink Floyd fans got jabbed.
@@mavjimboIt's not just the song, that's the underlying premise of the entire album. If you have not heard it... start to finish, in order, then you have missed out on the full context. It's a true concept album. Each song adds to the story and helps explain what the main character is experiencing and how the wall got built
Pink Floyd - The Wall movie was released in 1982 and is well worth watching in its entirety
Absolutely 😁👍
I was just about to comment that she should watch "The Wall". I would've suggested watching it with friends on acid like I did watching it for the first time. However in hind sight that's probably not a very good idea...lol...
Glad you reacted to this great song and for being so beautiful and great smile on your awesome channel.❤️😘🤗🤗🔥
It's on UA-cam right now. Not hard to find at all.
I was in high school when this came out. This became our anthem back in 70's. I do believe that because of this song a change took place in our generation , and yes, it really changed attitudes towards the same old same old education. We broke out and went our own ways. So Pink Floyd started something big. Your comments were Spot-On !!!!
Im from Australia & i see it basicly the same as you just said. Great days & great times.Makes now look a bit shit though hey m8 lol
"...a bit shit." Love it m8. @@chrisdaldy-rowe4978
Yet still majority buys shit that media and "authorities" selling and voting for the same faces. Appalling
This wasn’t released until the 80’s
@@carymisenar862it was released in 1979
As a concept album, it's worth watching or listening to it in its entirety. It's vulnerable and demonstrates some of the best internalization of life experiences some people go through. It's not an easy watch, but it is cathartic.
Edit: This video is from the whole feature film, The Wall.
Watching the full movie is the only way to understand what is in this scene. Remember to have a good sense of Art cuz this movie gets pretty crazy
Concept album is another name for Opera
I agree with that, I still have the vinyl album, if you look at it, it's fully played, almost deteriorated by playing it over and over again. Good I have also the album on CD.
You have to watch the movie, even there other albums you have to listen from start to finish, Animals is great also shine on you crazy diamond
The album and movie "the wall" changed my life as a 13 year old kid. It literally changed my life forever. Of course, the psychedelics helped as well...
First you're listening to Pink Floyd on mushrooms, next thing you know you're listening to Porcupine Tree and dropping acid
Hard to really get the full story of any song off of The Wall album, the whole thing is one long narrative. (It's like reading one random chapter in a book). Would love to see you react to the whole album, it's a masterpiece, very emotional moments.
All that said, great reaction as always.
Facts!! It always gets me going that people don't realize The Wall in it's entirety is one story!
I hope I was clearer now 🙂
Pink Floyd isn’t a band. It’s an experience.
You summarised that perfectly, The horns on your headphones are particularly appropriate - and ridiculously cute!
Ground-breaking, mind-blowing, and anyone in power absolutely hated it.
seventeen here, can assure you young people know what a concept album is
@@mmarr17 at least someone's listening🤗
Our generation was so lucky to have the bands we did. Pink was at the top.
We have Tool now. Lol. Just a joke. I love both bands. I know we wouldn't have the same music today if bands like Floyd didn't pioneer the way.
Highest compliment to a musician is that they make you think more ❤
"HOW CAN YOU HAVE ANY PUDDING IF YOU DON'T EAT YOUR MEAT?"
One of my favourite lines ever 😂
" STAND STILL LADDY"!
Brings back memories of my uncle at the Sunday family lunch
Was confusing to my young American ears, because here pudding is a custard
I love the way they re-purposed that line from Charles Dickens.
Its a great line. then the video shows the kids falling into the meat grinder. Dark AF
It's amazing how relevant this song is in current day😮
Leginkább nyugat európában, itt Magyarországon rendben vagyunk.
So powerful glad you saw the theme from the beginning. Almost brings tears to your eyes to think of the way children were stifled.
At that time, our class teacher invited the whole school class to the cinema at his own expense. I will never forget.
check out Rogers 2015 complete "wall" concert which won many worldwide wards. Sample. "in the flesh" on you tube. warning you will want to by it.
I saw them at Nassau Colliseum in 1980 as well. An amazing show I remember vividly to this day.
Public school is a mind control meat grinder for institution minds.
Is that concert available on the Internet?
Great reaction, your analysis makes me understand the song better. Thank you!
I grew up with Pink Floyd, both my parents were lucky enough to have seen them live. I was actually listening to this song in the car the other day and it's still so relevant. Both my kids have finished with school at 17 and 19 and with one of them being autistic and the other not being really academic, although he is intelligent enough, it's been blaringly obvious to me how much our education system is failing our kids.
mind control, very dark times, kids going to school all drugged up for no real need, taught "the narrative"
What a great, authentic review of the song and music video.
I first heard this song with my uncle. Pink Floyd is his favorite band. Great song. Korn did a good cover of this too.
No- one does covers of pink Floyd ,.cause there's none better .
One doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd, One experiences them.
This song was No1 in the UK for 8 weeks 79/80. the film came out 2 years later. They had many great albums but their 2 monster hits were the Wall and Dark side of the Moon, 2 very different albums, not many bands have 2 defining albums. Edit: For those who disagree. Dark Side 45m Wish You Were Here 20m Animals 12m The Wall 30m.
half right..4 monster albums...add Animals and wish you were here
Animals is always on their list of top albums. Always…..🤓
You’re amazing. I discovered you a few short days ago and I’m hooked. You appreciate music, art, creativity, and intellect. I love your analysis.
I can remember EXACTLY where I was when I first heard this:
The night of The WHO's concert tragedy in Cincinnati OH several of us were sitting, listening to WEBN whom was playing all four sides of The Wall in order. In between album sides we received reports from the 'Colosseum' about the injuries and deaths. Considering the mind altering elements we were experiencing, it was quite a night, forever etched.
Damn, that was a hell of an image. Wasn't born until the 80s, but I'm putting myself there thinking about it. Thanks, man. Seriously, I mean it.
Geldof is more famous for live aid
Yep Geldof played Pink in The Wall
Indeed, this song was well received when it came out. One of their most powerful. Thanks for your reaction.
you must listen to the entire album in order; It's an otherworldly experience!
Hands-down, the top five
Syd Barrett was the inspiration for Wish You Were Here. The Wall was inspired by Roger Waters experiences of growing up. His dad was killed in WWII.
@@ThePflcpsa I knew of "wish you were here" but than through word of mouth then, I also related "The Wall" to Syd and never thought to look further as I were around 15 and the information stuck. Thank you for this clarification.
Love your passion - As I've said before I adore Pink Floyd, so glad you're seeing/listening to it
The Wall is a journey through madness with fantastic music to soundtrack it all.
This album changed my concept of music and song writing.
That movie is the Wall. And the poetry is from the song Money by Pink Floyd.
This album was the backdrop to my entire teenage years :)
Watch The Movie!
Keep it up!
So well spoken about kids, their dreams and inspirations but also about the reality of (bad) parenting and (bad) teaching ❤
An actually very close interpretation for not having seen the Movie yet. You would not regret watching it. The animated segues are beautiful!!!
Pink Floyd and Rush both wrote lyrics that are deep and have meanings other than to just rhyme.
That part where the phone's ringing after the song goes into the next song called Mother.
Your reaction had me in tears. The song makes me angry. I've been on a roller-coaster. Thank you.
Song Motto: An acre is the area of a rectangle, whose length is one furlong and whose width is one chain.
This gen and the album speaks so much truth that’s still holds true today- another brick in the wall
Amazing video and you are very perceptive to know the meaning of the song.❤
You should watch live in Berlin when the Wall came down it's a star-studded concert with a crowd that is one of the largest I've ever seen for one event one band it's spectacular and Sinead O'Connor singing mother... Tremendous
SO TRUE 👍
So nice to see you again, Aileen.
If you watch the movie it will put all this into perspective.
The whole album is also a movie - it's really worth a watch, as it gives more meaning to the songs.
Please don't ever apologize for feelings and especially when it comes to Pink Floyd, we (the ones that grew up with them) had them and you have them, so have them!❤
And I LOVE your fire, keep being you and don't ever change to appease ❤️🔥
Hi InnaMusic !
I saw Pink Floyd 3 times and this show in Montreal. In a stadium of 60,000 people. When the mirror ball appeared, millions of stars filled the whole stadium. It was majestic. But a little information about the guitarist, David Gilmour, his dauhter-in-law is Ukrainian. I really like your video reactions. Take care.
