Word Crimes by Weird Al is an absolute must react! Also: - Living With a Hernia - Tacky - Eat It - Fat - Smells Like Nirvana - Amish Paradise - Party In The CIA - Foil - Perform This Way
Al said in an interview with Stern that when he was on the phone with Kurt getting permission from him, he jokingly asked if it was gonna be about food lol a lot of the people from the Smells Like Teen Spirit video was in Al's video like the janitor, cheerleaders and some of the people in the audience...and it was also recorded in the same video that Nirvana made their video
Weird Al songs to check out, Eat it, Like a Surgeon, Fat, Amish Paradise, Hey Ricky, Dare to be stupid, The Night Santa went crazy, Christmas at ground zero, and the saga begins.
Weird Al's music falls into one of three categories: parodies, polkas, and pastiches. Parodies are what he is most known for, taking songs and changing the lyrics (recommend Fat, Tacky, Like a Surgeon, All about the Pentiums, Party in the CIA, Word Crimes, Foil, etc.) Polkas are where he takes the lyrics from famous songs and puts them to polka music (recommend Polkamania and Hamilton Polka). Pastiches are the lesser known of the three, also known as style parody. It's where Al listens through and artist's or band's catalogue and creates a song based on their general work (Dare to Be Stupid, Velvet Elvis, Hardware Store) He's got a huge catalogue spanning 4 decades of music. Welcome into Weird Al's World, Aileen!
Polkas also use the melodies of the song, just played in polka style, as a medley. Also usually played much faster, although if it's a fast song he will occasionally make it way slower.
Wierd Al has a discography that covers the last almost 50 years. There are parody songs, polka songs. With the Holidays approaching you have "Christmas at ground Zero" or "The night Santa went Crazy". Glad you did this song, but modern songs, "Foil", and "Handy" are paradies of "Royals" and "Fancy" respectively.
Weird Al is indeed a national treasure. absolutely watch Tacky and Word Crimes. Coolio actually had a problem with Al using one of his songs, took awhile but Coolio finally came around and gave Al props for it.
Hell, you could even watch “Tacky” with the sound off and still love it because it was filmed in one take… okay, there’s one cut with Jack Black but… still damn.
There are a whole list of Weird Al parodies. I'd say go with Word Crimes, Tacky, Trapped in the Drive-Thru and, if you want to do a Weird Al original song - Hardware Store which has one of the most amazing vocal performances you'll ever hear.
Honestly, Weird Al is a *consummate* musician and his ability to not only turn other artists songs into virtually musically identical but somehow incredibly distinct parodies but also make original novelty songs is frankly unmatched in all of the music industry. There have definitely been imitators over the years but in nearly 50 years of work, I don't think anyone has ever come close to Weird Al's mastery of this art form. Recommendations - Albuquerque - Original song Grapefruit Diet - parody of Cherry Poppin Daddies' "Zoot Suit Riot" I Can't Watch This - parody of MC Hammer's "You Can't Touch This" And especially the litany of Weird Al's horrible love songs - Since You've Been Gone You Don't Love Me Anymore One More Minute I was Only Kidding Close But No Cigar
"Weird Al" is a comedy singer who is best known for his song parodies (i.e. taking a popular song and rewriting the lyrics to be funny and/or absurd). He's also known for writing original songs in the style of another band, and for talking actual song lyrics and blending them together into a polka. He's been recording songs since late 70s/early 80s. Some of his songs I'd recommend checking out include (in alphabetical order): "Achy Breaky Song" ("Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus) "Addicted to Spuds" ("Addicted to Love" by Robert Palmer) "Amish Paradise" ("Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio feat. LV) "Bohemian Polka" (polka cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody") "Canadian Idiot" ("American Idiot" by Green Day) "Confessions Part III" ("Confessions Part II" by Usher) "Couch Potato" ("Lose Yourself" by Eminem) "Eat It" ("Beat It" by Michael Jackson) "eBay" ("I Want It That Way" by Backstreet Boys) "Fat" ("Bad" by Michael Jackson) "Foil" ("Royals" by Lorde) "Gump" ("Lump" by The Presidents of the United States of America) "Handy" ("Fancy" by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX) "Living with a Hernia" ("Living in America" by James Brown) "Party in the CIA" ("Party in the U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus) "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi" ("Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)" by The Offspring) "The Saga Begins" ("American Pie" by Don McLean) "Smells Like Nirvana" ("Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana) "Tacky" ("Happy" by Pharrell Williams) "Whatever You Like" ("Whatever You Like" by T.I.) "Word Crimes" ("Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams) - Could be played in English class "Yoda" ("Lola" by The Kinks)
For something which should be taught in schools, check out "Word Crimes". You really can't go wrong when choosing a Weird Al song. Some of my favorites are "Like a Surgeon", "Fat", "Smells Like Nirvana", and "The Saga Begins".
Aileen, EVERY Weird Al song is a banger! His parodys have been on the charts for over 40 years. And not the comedy charts...the billboard and top music charts. Artists truly know they've made it when they're parodied by Weird Al. And he is alsways is respectful of the original artists and asks their permission. To the best of my knowledge, only Prince has downright refused over the years. There was some misunderstanding with Coolio over "Amish Paradise," but the two came settled their beef eventually. Some singers have even mistakenly sung his lyrics to their own songs live in concert (Don McLean, American Pie.) He's probably best know for his Michael Jackson parody videos, but also does a lot of polka melodies (don't think they're music videos of those), and food-realted songs. If you want to check out a good deep-cut of his, I suggest one of his original songs "One More Minute." Link to the video is here: ua-cam.com/video/yWhpk-8QLFQ/v-deo.html
Happy as can be that you were able to upload this reaction now 😌 Everyone’s going to love how much fun you have with it and how cute you are in it 🙂↕️🖤
His Star Wars parody of Don Mclean's Ameican Pie... or any parody of Michael Jackson. If you don't know the videos he is parodying you should check out that first to see how close he follows the original
Dear Aileen. Excellent reaction. You can never go wrong choosing a Weird Al vid. Everybody should be required to go down the Weird Al rabbithole and be exposed to his genius. I highly recommend Amish Paradise, Party in the CIA and Constipated.
The first cd I ever got as a kid in the 90's was Alapalooza. My brother had Dare to be Stupid on cassette and I loved it. I have been a huge fan for decades.
His catalog is deep, very deep. There are so many. I would start with Amish paradise,Word crimes, Fat, Foil, Tacky... And Seth Green is the guy's name you were looking for Donny Osmond, a very white gentleman, is dancing next to him in the video as well.
Parody is the word you were looking for but I like your calling them memes. "All About ther Pentiums" is a must, but so is "The Saga Begins", "Fat", "Foil" (Royals), "Eat It" and a dozen others. Several other reactors have done "All About the Pentiums" so it is safe...
Weird Al is a musical genius. Check out Eat It, Fat, Like a Surgeon, I love Rocky Road, Smells Like Nirvana and Amish Paradise to start with. Welcome to the Weird side, Love Ya!
Amish Paradise, Canadian Idiot, Smells like Nirvana, Foil, Eat it, Like a surgeon, Star Wars the Saga begins, Perform this way, Another one rides the bus, to mention a few...
Girl, I came across your channel and i have to say that you are the most awsome reviewer for vids. You bring light in an otherwise dark time and i have to thank you for that. keep going
If we're talking about required learning in Schools, you should watch 'Word Crimes". edit: Brian Austin Green is a person, but that was Seth Green co-creator of Robot Chicken, and Dr. Evil's son...
Al’s take on Coolio’s Gangster Paradise, called Amish Paradise, is also great. For some older ones, Eat It, and Fat, Michael Jackson parodies, are really good.
Coolio... the first, and only, performer to actually SUE Weird Al for doing a parody of their song instead of taking it as a compliment like everybody else
I really hope this is just the beginning of your discovery and exploration of Weird Al. I haven't listened to this one in quite awhile so I was grinning from ear to ear and laughing along with you!
Weird Al Yankovic has been making parodies of popular songs since 1979... his first single was 'My bologna'... a spoof of the #1 hit 'My Sharona' by The Knack - the band's singer (the late) Doug Fieger loved the parody and requested The Knack's label to release it commercially... Weird Al played accordion and made a cheap parody 'Another one rides the bus'... spoofing Queen's #1 hit 'Another one bites the dust'... in 1980 and eventually put a live band together, who are still with him today (drummer John 'Bermuda' Schwartz, bassist Steve Jay and guitarist Jim West) and finally signed to a 70's record label Scotti Bros. Records in 1983... His parody "I love rocky road" (From Joan Jett's "I love rock n' roll") made it on MTV... But it was his spoof "Eat it" that parodied Michael Jackson's hit 'Beat it'... that made him a star on MTV by 1984... He also made original songs that spoofed the style of artists - his song 'Dare to be stupid' in 1985 was a nod to the music of Devo. Since then, he has spoofed almost every pop artist from Madonna, James Brown, Dire Straits, Nirvana, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, MC Hammer, Coolio, Billy Ray Cyrus ... to Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Avril Lavigne, Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams, etc. He made a comedy movie 'UHF' in 1989 that bombed in theaters... It was about him taking over a UHF TV channel and making parody TV shows... Actor Michael Richards, who played 'Kramer' in 'Seinfeld'... had a major part in the movie. Recently, Weird Al hired 'Harry Potter' actor Daniel Radcliffe to play him in a biopic movie "Weird: the Al Yankovic story"... except the movie was a parody of his real life story... In the movie, his girlfriend was Madonna (They barely knew each other in real life) and he became hooked on drugs and alcohol (He is completely sober in real life)
More Weird Al parodies; Eat It -Beat It Fat-Bad Another One Rides The Bus-Another One Bites The Dust Like A Surgeon-Like A Virgin Amish Paradise-Gangster’s Paradise Foil-Royals Word Crimes-Blurred Lines I lost On Jeopardy-Jeopardy I Love Rocky Road-I Love Rock And Roll Smells Like Nirvana-Smells Like Teen Spirit Gump-Lump The Saga Begins-American Pie Tacky-Happy Handy-Fancy And many more.
Glad to see you have discovered Weird Al finally, hehe. He has so many bangers, haha, 'Smells Like Nirvana' , 'Amish Paradise' , and 'Word Crimes'...you wont be disappointed.
Speed Rap - Well Done Al. And @Aileen, if makes a great day watching your vids that make your face hurt from so much smiling. Have an exceptional day and embrace white (latina) and nerdy. Great Video.
Weird Al is amazing, he's been doing this since he was a teenager, with his first song that made an impact, "Belvedere Cruising," which got a lot of airplay on the Dr. Demento show back in the day. The first major Parody he did was of the song "My Sharrona" by The Knack, where he did "My Bologna," which he did while in college. The Knack did a concert there, and, as Al had his own show on the college radio station, he kinda scammed his way backstage, and met the band. It turned out that they had heard the song and loved it, and the lead singer told the guy next to him, who was his record rep, that they should sign Al. So, yes, Weird Al has been doing Parodies and other silly songs for over 40 years at this point. Al is also one of the few Artists to have received Grammys for Four Decades straight, for the 80's, 90's, 00's, and the 10's. If there's a popular song out there that he hasn't done a Parody of, it's only because he either didn't have an idea for it, or the Artist he wanted to parody didn't give permission. Al doesn't have to ask permission legally, but he always does because he doesn't want to upset the original artist. My favorite song of his is a Weird Al original, done in the style of Devo, but not a direct parody. The amazing and subtle song, "Dare to be Stupid."
Oh yes, I am here for a run through of Weird Al's library! So glad to see you liked it, his parodies are amazing, most of his albums also have a "polka" which is generally a mashup of several songs, but he also does some original music. I saw him in concert a few years ago, awesome! But some of his good parodies don't even have music videos! Songs/videos that I *highly* recommend: Amish Paradise The Saga Begins Tacky Party in the C.I.A. Fat Eat It Handy Word Crimes
Word Crimes, Foil, Handy, and One More Minute would be my top suggestions. I have loved listening to him for 40 or more years. I'm super happy you enjoyed it. Great reaction.
A couple of my favorites are My Bologna and Stop Draggin' My Car Around...and by the way, never change. You are a gorgeous lady with a wildly bubbly personality - and that makes me SO happy! 😂
Always a treat to watch the original he's parodying before watching the weird al. He is so meticulous about accurately parodying the original video, it's great.
Every one of Weird Al's videos are so great and detailed. He covers so many genres. Handy is so funny and perfect and I suspect you will be familiar with the original song. Don't look them up, part of the fun is seeing folks recognize the song he is having fun with.
Glad you've discovered the wonderful world of Al! Dive in and swim in the deep end of his many decades of amazingly fun music. If you're having a bad day, just listen to an Al song and you'll be smiling in seconds. Always love your reactions. Keep up the awesome work.
in addition to parodies, Weird Al does "pastiches" (songs in the style of certain artists) and original comedic pieces as well. "One More Minute" and "Hardware Store" are must-listens!
Weird Al was the first tape I bought back in the mid-80's. Still may be the best thing I ever bought. Word Crimes is one of my faves but there are literally dozens to chose from. Excited for you to laugh more with us Al!
Awww heck, if you're gonna start a Weird Al trip, have I got some suggestions for you. 😅🤣 First, Amish Paradise is a must, any of his Michael Jackson parodies are great. There are just so many to go with. Loved your reaction as always❤
There are so many good weird Al tracks. For the most part, his parodies are absolute classics. Some don't work as well as others, in my personal opinion. He also has original songs and I think most of those are absolutely amazing. "One More Minute" and "You Don't Love Me Anymore" are quite nearly perfection. Something to keep in mind when it comes to Al is that he's been doing this since the early 80s. He's perfected his craft in a way alot of people are not able to. And let's not overlook his band. They parody some musically brilliant songs. And they do it at an extremely high level. Their musical prowess is almost unmatched. That's my opinion, at least.
First at all greetings from Germany and i love your Chanel, your great. Iam a Fan of Al for the last 30 years and there is so much you have to check out, first of all there is "Eat it", then "Im Fat", than "Amish Paradise" and so on and so on . Weird Al is a musical Genius. And some of his Songs based on Ideas form the Singers he Coverd.
One thing to realize: this came out in 2006, and Key & Peele started in 2012... Weird Al parodies to listen to: Word Crimes, Fat (Michael Jackson parody), Trapped in the Drive-Thru, The Saga Continues (Star Wars), I love Rocky Road (Joan Jett), A Complicated Song (Avril Lavine), Ode to a Superhero (Billy Joel / Spiderman crossover), and Hardware Store (he gets compared to Eminem with this one). This is ONLY to start with, and avoiding songs already recommended...
White and Nerdy came out when I was a sophomore in college and it became basically the theme song of the Honors Dorm that I lived in, since the vast majority of us were both White and Nerdy. Loved your reaction! You being yourself, showing your energy, and passion, and being open about things is why I love your channel and reactions!
"Amish Paradise" is a must. It's generally considered a sign that a recording artist has 'made it' when their song has been parodied by Weird Al.
And don't sleep on "It's All About the Pentiums."
😂YES!!!
Any of his Michael Jackson Parodies.
@@danieljohnston3065 Just Eat It!!!!
the Barenaked Ladies were all elated when he called to get permission to do his version of "One Week" which he named "Jerry Springer".
Let's give it up for Donny Osmond's dance moves!
There's a video of his first take dancing through the entire thing, pure gold
And for Seth Green's collection of action figures!
OMG, I forgot he was copping Donny's moves. lols
Donny Osmond is a national treasure. I was shocked that Aileen didn't even mention him.Shocked I tell you!! LOL
Still can’t see him without thinking “Let’s get down to business!”🎵
Word Crimes by Weird Al is an absolute must react!

Another One Rides the Bus
add Bob to the list too, rarely reacted to and incredibly clever
Like a surgeon... The Saga Begins... Polka Party...
Amish paradise and word crimes definitely warrant checking out.
Weird Al is an American national treasure.
You mean a galactic treasure!
He needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Aileen, do yourself a favor and watch UHF if you get a chance. It's a movie starring Weird Al.
Weird Al is from Canada but he has lived in the U.S.A. for quite a while so I can understand why someone would think he's from there.
Loved him in naked gun series with the legendary Leslie Nielsen!
These ones, including "Amish Paradise," are my favorites!
There are people who haven't heard/seen "Amish Paradise" yet????
Nirvana said that they knew that they made it when Weird All parodied "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
That one is in my top 3.
I second this comment.
I totally forgot “The Night Santa Went Crazy”! That was off of Bad Hair Day, right? Such a great album.
Weasel stomping day!
Bob, Tacky, Word Crimes & Foil

That is all. 🤣
The Weird Al rabbit hole goes very deep and is a fun ride! When he does a parody of your song you know you've made.
Weird Al's music falls into one of three categories: parodies, polkas, and pastiches.
Parodies are what he is most known for, taking songs and changing the lyrics (recommend Fat, Tacky, Like a Surgeon, All about the Pentiums, Party in the CIA, Word Crimes, Foil, etc.)
Polkas are where he takes the lyrics from famous songs and puts them to polka music (recommend Polkamania and Hamilton Polka).
Pastiches are the lesser known of the three, also known as style parody. It's where Al listens through and artist's or band's catalogue and creates a song based on their general work (Dare to Be Stupid, Velvet Elvis, Hardware Store)
He's got a huge catalogue spanning 4 decades of music. Welcome into Weird Al's World, Aileen!
Polkas also use the melodies of the song, just played in polka style, as a medley. Also usually played much faster, although if it's a fast song he will occasionally make it way slower.
As the wise man Homer J. Simpson once said "He who is tired of Weird Al is tired of life!"

Making parodies of hit songs since the 80s, Weird Al is not only a legend but also a musical genius.

Weird Al is indeed a national treasure. absolutely watch Tacky and Word Crimes. Coolio actually had a problem with Al using one of his songs, took awhile but Coolio finally came around and gave Al props for it.
Anything Weird Al does is great, from Yoda to the Saga begins, and I love Rocky road to Foil.
So many great songs, but my favorite has to be The Saga Begins.
That's a great one, but younger reactors often don't know both the movie and the original song.
'Amish Paradise", definitely 🤘😂👍
Weird Al has a ton of awesome parodies. I recommend his songs “Eat It” and “Tacky”
Hell, you could even watch “Tacky” with the sound off and still love it because it was filmed in one take… okay, there’s one cut with Jack Black but… still damn.

Lovely reaction, Aileen! As for suggestions for future Weird Al parodies, I'd recommend "Foil" and "Word Crimes"
6:07 Aileen, you’re one amazing, beautiful person and celebrate who you are, anyone that says anything negative doesn’t deserve your time or energy 👍
His band actually plays the songs he covers, he doesn't just sing to a backing track. His Polkas are amazing!
Except Money for Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies. Mark Knopfler wanted to play guitar on the parody too and Al was like "Well twist my arm...".
"Smells Like Nirvana" is a Weird Al classic and newer songs like "Tacky", "Word Crimes", "Handy" and "Party In The CIA" are great
"Word Crimes" (parody of "Blurred Lines") is one of my favorites.
Seth Green was the cameo name you were looking for. ;)
There are a whole list of Weird Al parodies. I'd say go with Word Crimes, Tacky, Trapped in the Drive-Thru and, if you want to do a Weird Al original song - Hardware Store which has one of the most amazing vocal performances you'll ever hear.

Weird AL has been doing music parodies since the mid 80's... Tons of classics to catch up on.

@ I’m pretty sure Al said in an interview that he and Coolio are all good now.
I really hope this is just the beginning of your discovery and exploration of Weird Al. I haven't listened to this one in quite awhile so I was grinning from ear to ear and laughing along with you!
Wait till you see Amish Paradise.
He spent weeks learning to lip sync backwards for thr scene just before ending.
Weird Al is awesome! Amish Paradise, Living with a Hernia, Fat, the Saga Begins, all great .
I was absolutely shocked when you said you've never reacted to Weird Al. How can this be????
Love you and your channel! Can't believe it's your first weird AL video! Now that you have broke that ice you need to do more of his stuff!
Love it. "It's all about the Pentiums", "Tacky", "Word Crimes", "Foil", and "Handy" are all great plus so many more.
Haha classic! Fun video

Songs/videos that I *highly* recommend:
Amish Paradise
The Saga Begins
Tacky
Party in the C.I.A.
Fat
Eat It
Handy
Word Crimes
It's awesome to see you having so much fun.
React to Amish Paradise.
Word Crimes, Foil, Handy, and One More Minute would be my top suggestions. I have loved listening to him for 40 or more years. I'm super happy you enjoyed it. Great reaction.
Yes! Let the Weird Al rabbit hole commence!
Fat is one of my favorites, but pretty much any of his songs are absolute gold!
The sheer number of jokes and gags Al squeezes into genuine parodies is utterly insane.
Welcome to the Weird Al rabbit hole! As mentioned "Amish Paradise" is a must, I would also strongly recommend "Foil"!
its really nice to see you laugh and smile. please do more weird al reactions soon :)
The fact that Chamillionaire himself actually commented Weird Al on how well he rapped is the best part
A couple of my favorites are My Bologna and Stop Draggin' My Car Around...and by the way, never change. You are a gorgeous lady with a wildly bubbly personality - and that makes me SO happy! 😂
Amazing reaction, it gave me joy, thank you 💛
Always a treat to watch the original he's parodying before watching the weird al. He is so meticulous about accurately parodying the original video, it's great.
Great Video/Reaction as always. Must say though I'm amazed anyone could find anything mean to say about you.
Every one of Weird Al's videos are so great and detailed. He covers so many genres. Handy is so funny and perfect and I suspect you will be familiar with the original song. Don't look them up, part of the fun is seeing folks recognize the song he is having fun with.
'Like a surgeon' is my personal favourite , the music video is just wild
This is only the start of a beautiful journey dear Aileen 🙂
If you are in a bad mood, watch one of his videos!
It will lighten up your day, promise.
One of my favorite Weird Al songs. You should definitely watch Amish Paradise next.
SO MANY guest appearances in this video.
First, Amish Paradise is a must, any of his Michael Jackson parodies are great.
Al has been cranking out classics for 40 years! You must listen to all of it and you’ll be surprised how creative and hilarious he is.
And some of his Songs based on Ideas form the Singers he Coverd.
back in the day, a group or artist knew they "made it" when Weird Al came knocking!! You gotta check out Amish Paradise
