  • About to be released in Australia, is the new range of RTX ZipCore Wedges by Cleveland. Glen Haynes tests out the 56° Sand Wedge up against his own gamer, the RTX-4 Raw Sand Wedge.
    The RTX ZipCore has been reengineered with lighter materials, moving discretionary weight both lower and higher in the clubhead, improving High-Low MOI. The new range also boasts 2 extra UltiZip grooves, which are deeper and sharper than those on the RTX-4. The ZipCore Wedges are fitted standard with the Dynamic Gold Tour Issue Spinner Shafts.
    All sounds great but how’s the performance? Is it all just hype and marketing or do the new Cleveland Wedges stack up?
    Any sand wedge will be capable of producing plenty of spin from full shots. Let’s test out the Zipcore Sand Wedge on mishits and from those shorter pitch shot distances.

    ABOUT AUSSIE GOLF PROS
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Steve Gannon and Glen Haynes created Aussie Golf Pros to provide a learning platform for golfers of all levels. They post content regularly on social media and their website, aussiegolfpros.com. This includes videos, blogposts, golf coaching series and great programs.
    Golf Coaches, Not Teachers
    The Aussie Golf Pros are holistic coaches. Steve and Glen are both fully qualified members of the PGA of Australia and are avid students of the Sports Sciences. Together, they are certified in Advanced Golf Coaching, Golf Psychology, TPI (Body-Swing Connection), NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Personal Development and Skill Acquisition.
    Steve and Glen are not ‘Method’ coaches. They recognise that there are 1000’s of ways to swing a golf club! Rather than try to ‘change’ your swing, their goal is to help You Be The Best Golfer You Can Be!
    Skill Development vs Technical Changes
    Although technique is an important factor of a golfer’s performance, Skill Development is largely neglected in golf coaching today. Skill is something that can be tangibly improved with proper understanding of the golf impact laws and effective practice protocols.
    External Focus of Attention
    Most golf teaching involves an internal focus. Common instruction includes advice such us increased hip turn, a still head or improved hand path. These factors of the golf swing, are considered important for many golfers and teachers. However, as they are focused internally, on body movements, golfers find changes extremely difficult to process.
    Enter the world of External Focus of Attention. This means that a golfer focuses on the target, the ball, the clubhead - objects which are external to the body. The sciences involving Motor Skill Learning have proven that by employing an External Focus of Attention, sports men and women learn new moves more quickly, retain changes readily and can perform better under pressure.
    All of the Aussie Golf Pros coaching, drills and advice for clients and viewers, involve an External Focus of Attention and the results can be astonishing!
    I'm a golf coach in the U.S. and I mostly teach short game. I received my ZipCore wedges recently from Cleveland as part of a PUD promotion. Last year I received the CB2 wedges and had used them for most of this golf season. The ZipCore is a vast improvement. I do understand that the CB2 Wedges are made for a higher handicap golfer and I did enjoy playing with them. The spin is almost unreal on the ZipCore wedges. I also like the feel of the ball off the club face. I'm a recent subscriber so, I'm looking forward to each Thursday's video.
    I’m a 25 handicap and the Zipcore wedge has made this part of my game much better than the other parts. The other day on the range I stopped one touching the flag from 95 yards. I guess that counts as a hole out? LOL I have the 54 but think I’m about to replace my pitching wedge, which is also Cleveland, uhx, but still isn’t as good as the Zipcore. Maybe Cleveland will make a full Zipcore iron set in the future??
      @AussieGolfPros  3 роки тому
      Thank you for your comments Travis. Yes, the ZipCore Wedges are pretty special. For the full set, you have to check out the Srixon ZX Irons! They’re not designed to spin as much as the ZipCores, however, they sure perform well!
    I've been playing the Cleveland tour action 588 wedges for many years. If you're familiar with these, how would you compare the feel of the old 588 and the Zipcore? I'm looking for something that feels more like the forged feel I get from my P790 irons.
    • @AussieGolfPros
      @AussieGolfPros  2 роки тому +1
      Hi Dayle, thank you for your question. I did play the Cleveland 588 wedges for several years. The ZipCore feel is very similar. Bear in mind, the 588 and the RTX ZipCore Wedges are not forged, but cast from soft 8620 carbon steel. One of the major differences is the weight in the hosel has been dramatically reduced in the new model. Cleveland did release a line of forged 1025 carbon steel 588 wedges in 2011. These had ‘Precision Forged’ stamped on the back. Hope this helps. Cheers, Glen
    • @AlmightyNoah
      They typically come in the Dynamic Gold ‘Spinner’ shaft, little lighter feel than the S400
      That’s right Noah. The Spinner shafts are also soft-stepped.
      Definitely the ZipCore over the RTX-4. Even better for the beginners and improving golfers, would be the Cleveland CBX-2. Cheers
      They are $150 USD. Which is pretty typical. The cbx2 are $140. But honestly you could probably find a set of rtx4 in decent condition on eBay for 1/3 of the price.
      Completely Depends the range ball. I tested my courses rock hard range ball against my pro v1x with zipcore 58 degree on trackman 4. I was spinning the prov1x around 10,900 and a range ball was peaking at only 6,000 rpm some as low as 4500 rpm.
