    I play off 14, and play cbx2 wedges, in 48,54, and 60. They are a fantastic product, the majority of amateur golfers should be using these. Amazes me how many guys you see with mega forgiving game improvement irons/Woods, and then have a set of vokeys in the bag!

    High-handicapper and I bought CBX2 wedges last year in 54 and 58. They have honestly taken my short game from atrocious to point and click. I would 100% recommend cavity back wedges to anyone struggling with consistency in their short game.

    Cbx2 wedges really transformed my game. Didn’t realize how punishing Forged bladed wedges were until I saw the results on the course.
    The bane of testing clubs indoors is the forgiveness of the artificial turf. Obviously not an issue with drivers but anything that requires turf interaction can alter results and mask swing faults as well lol

    I'm a 16 handicap, with a slightly above average short game, and I tested both the 2020 RTX4 and the 2018 cavity back CBX Wedges (pretty much these exact wedges, just older, non-full face), and the CBX made it in my bag. Highly recommend cavity back wedges for someone looking to be consistent and get the proper distance from each wedge. Great video!

    Great test. I am in the market for new wedges and ever since you tested the wedges with the "wet test" I have made it a condition of purchase that they have to perform well in both dry and the wet. I really hope you consider making this a standard part of your wedge testing and I have to admit a little curiosity on how a regular iron performs in the wet as well.

    For some reason, even as a higher handicap golfer in my earlier years, I felt a lot more confident playing with Vokey wedges over wedges in a set or a cavity back wedge. To be honest, I’m glad I did because they taught me how to hit the ball properly on full swing shots and they just felt right. Also, when lofts begin to increase, shaft length obviously gets shorter and a little easier to hit. I play four Vokey wedges. I really only use my 46*, 50* and 60* mostly, my 56* depending on the situation. I prefer the performance of bladed wedges overall. They’re not impossible to hit.

    • @billyunair
      @billyunair Рік тому

      Agree. I'm still a high handicapper. I can play the Vokey or last gen RTX wedges well. I have SM 8's too. My short game is my strength.
      Can't wait to add the new RTX 6 in the bag. Blades wedges, PW, GW, SW, are easy to hit even for a beginner. Less so a high lofted Lob.
      Cleveland and Vokey are great options.

    Recently switched out my T20 GW and SW for Glide wedges. The T20s looked and felt great, but were not providing me much help. Yet another Great video. Thanks. I am Considering upgrading my vokey sm6 L grind 58 degree. It has 4 degrees of bounce. It is a love hate relationship I have with old Bessie. Sometimes I do miraculous things with that wedge but if i am not honed in at the time good grief. I am thinking glide 4.0 t grind 58 degree, g430 58 degree, callaway sure out 58, vokey low bounce k grind 58 or the cbx 58 for the additional forgiveness. Any thoughts? I am guessing cbx would be the most forgiving of the bunch and g430 would be lacking back spin.
    Also I noticed the cbx comes with ten degrees of bounce. I am a sweeper that plays 80% on hard ground and 20% of the time on soft ground. Would you say that ten degrees of bounce is potentially too much for me? If so if i were to get the cbx bent to decrease bounce would that increase or decrease the loft?

    Great review to watch - on dew wet greens is spin or land angle more important? Often lower launch with spin will skid whereas the steeper land angle would stop faster? Clearly whichever is best it’s having consistency & knowing your wedge that matters most I guess

    • @-Thunder
      @-Thunder Рік тому

      I'm loft and landing angle guy personally. I just find the nip it and zip it to be tougher to execute predictably. But if you only have super tight lies the latter might be the only option. The wet usually kills spin, there is skid but there's also increased drag to slow the ball. Keep your grooves clean! :-)

As far as full shots, the forgiveness is unmatched with no flyers or jumps from any conditions. They are so good, 6 of my regular partners have switched after borrowing my original CBXs when I got the CBX2s….and seeing what I can do with that damn 60 from everywhere! Forgot to add that I love these sole grinds because the V sole is the same you’ll find on the last 4 iterations of the Srixon irons, which I played previously for 6 years. This grind allows for my steeper action and hinge & hold wedge technique.

      @@kevinstrickroth2347 Wow, thanks for the awesome reply!! I play a 50, 54 RTX 4 and a 58 CBX Full face(2020 model). The CBX Sole has been my favorite club and made some of the best up and downs of my life with it. I thought about trying the RTX Fullface but I noticed the sole grinds are a little different. I feel like I need to go CBX in the 54 and 58!! Do you feel theres any possible disadvantage of not playing the RTX over a CBX?

    These really interest me. I have a set of JPX921 Forged Irons (4-GW) and I absolutely detest my GW. I cannot hit it to save my life. I can only assume that because it has the same shaft as my irons and not my wedges, but basically the same length as my wedges, my wedge swing does not line up to its swing weight/balance.

    I have the 52, 56 and 60 CBX wedges and like them a lot. Only problem is that I cannot hit them out of the sand. The bounce is so huge on these that it doesn't seem to slide through the sand easily...they seem to more bounce off the sand and cause me to hit thin shots.

      If you play in firm sand conditions, you'll need less bounce.

    • @zazhou

      They do have more bounce than most other manufacturer's wedges and more than my personal preference. To make them work effectively in bunkers, one would need to ensure the clubhead is descending significantly into the sand an inch or two behind the ball so that the bottom of the swing is not behind the ball.

      @MXJEFF94 Рік тому

      @@zazhou I agree, but most bunkers at most courses aren’t deep in sand to make that work (especially in AZ). You have a coating of sand on top, then hard base on bottom. The bounce just ricochet’s into the hard pan on bottom. The only solution is less bounce.
