Very detailed review, the answers are a great idea to keep us informed and involved. Missed the outtakes but it was already pretty lengthy. Evergoods seems to be competing with itself with overlapping designs in my view. I also question their model designations which seem pretty complicated, a little like military acronyms.
Got a little bogged down in editing so didn’t have a lot of time for outtakes…plus something I’m perfect 😜. Agree on the self competing designs. I thought the PLC20 was pretty good but needed a little something else. This one looks like that something else.
Great review, love the Q&A. It's awesome to see how your channel has grown and the knowledge and experience you have to do really informative and robust comparisons is awesome! Great stuff!
Great content addressing the 1/2 packed -vs- full load and comparing it to the CHZ22 which sadly suffers from the hideous rhino horn unless perfectly full loaded. Great video!
Great video. Was waiting on your review. Got this pack on Monday and have been carrying it all week. Great bag. Definitely a keeper for me. Agree I wish they included a top lashing point for the trekking poles (I use a pair of Leki folding poles).
@@JBOutside1 yup, I did ten mins after your video. It’s gonna be my “lightweight” grab & go dad bag. CTB 26 is my “heavy day” dad bag. Kinda wish this was more like 18L, but the pack looks perfect!
@@JBOutside1Received the MPL22 yesterday. Packed it out similar to what you did which included the Transit Cube, Cap1, Cap2 and COB XpodII. It’s a no brainer- this bag is coming with me to Asia. Just have two additional thoughts I wanted to mention: 1. I don’t know what everyone’s infatuation with a bag needing to stand up. Put cube in the bottom and it stood up just fine on its own. 2. One question I do have that wasn’t asked or on Evergoods website was the bags waterproofing. How well do you think this bag would stand up to getting caught in the rain while hiking? Would you suggest a rain cover to keep contents dry? Thank you for reading and have a great day JB 💪🏼
@@logan_HBTFD I remember somewhere seeing the material is coated. It will shed water quite nicely. The zippers may let a little bit in. A cheap cover may be a piece of mind though for Asia. Packs small and is inexpensive
The mesh pocket seems like it has less depth compared to other Evergoods bags. Does the front dump pocket eat into the mesh pocket's space when you fill the dump pocket with bulky items?
Like always. Great review. I may say I am becoming an accidental fan boy of the brand. As a matter of fact, I have the two griffin pieces I am missing in a cart. Only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger is that the samurai is available again. If you only had $800 to burn. Would you get the Griffin pack and duffle or for the same ~ price the samurai?
Thanks for making the decision for me. Haha I was in analysis paralysis. picked up the samurai and a shoe bag to get to the $800 haha 💀… I am telling you…. Board Member Honorary
I've mentioned this a few times in previous EVERGOODS videos...they ruck just fine and are really comfortable. The question is, how long will the internal stretchy pocket put up with the abuse a 30lb plate. Since that pocket is not designed for a weight plate I would put it this way: occasional rucking, sure thing. Daily rucking, no way...get a Rucker.
Is that laptop/hydration sleeve padded at all or would you have to have a laptop in an additional case? I’m thinking this bag is a perfect edc and outdoor bag.
How much weight do you think you could safely put in the laptop department? I just get worried that it might deform/damage stuff. Really liking my MPL22 so far.
Might be a weird comparison given their aesthetic differences, but any chance you’ve had experience with the Osprey Talon 22, and if so, how does this compare?
Super review! Lil floppy on front when not packed out? Me: I found the CHZ22 a lil too long for my torso (personally, I think it's slightly longer than 18," says my torso...I would say 18.5") and the hard bottom punched my back. Does the MPL22 have a softer back, bottom edge?
Thanks for responding on that. I had a problem with the CPL 28 lower bottom jabbing me in the lower back. Do you have a sense whether the back panel design on this and how it sits on your back is similar or different from the CPL 28?@@JBOutside1
The fabric is coated to resist moisture and the zippers are reverse coil but not aqua guard. So it will do OK but not do well in a big downpour soaker. The new builds they released today would do much better I'd guess. I'll let you know when I get mine. Video coming soon.
@@JBOutside1cant wait for that side by side comparison btw the "old" mpl22 and the new one, your video would chek all my marks if youd get the new bag in black aswell & compare it go chz26 in 840d, cuz thats where im torn right now. Keep up the great work im new around here
Are they? Hope not, else I can never look at them again! :) Anyway, thanks for all your content. Somehow therapeutic even if I have no intention of buying (OK - money!)
Yes, I like Facebook Groups and use those the most. "Carryology Classifieds" and "The Perfect Pack" are two of the best. If it's GORUCK specific then "Everything GORUCK" @@Ali4451_
Absolutely. The real question is for how long? The EVERGOODS bags all have an elastic internal pocket that CAN hold a plate. But it's not designed for it. So it'll work but I wouldn't recommend routine rucking with a plate. If I were going to train the MPL22 I would use a combo of a 20lb plate and a sandbag. Or just a sandbag.
@@JBOutside1 ok chill, thank you. I already have a GoRuck plate carrier, was just thinking about whether I could have one less bag around. Still very eager to sell my CHZ26 and pick up the MPL22.

Would the MPL22 work as a "Personal Item" on a plane??? I'm considering using it with a carry on TD35. Thank you!
Great combo
The mesh pocket seems like it has less depth compared to other Evergoods bags. Does the front dump pocket eat into the mesh pocket's space when you fill the dump pocket with bulky items?
Sort of. They obviously impact each other but there’s built in dimension to both so it’s not a ‘one or the other’ situation. You can use both.
To carry trekking poles just run shock cord through the gear loop on either side. GtG

Will we be seeing a comparison between GRXC1 and new GORUCK Dyneema bag released yesterday?
