Great content as always fella. The Max is my all time favourite bag for EDC and travel. Able Cary sent over the green version of the Max EDC to test out. I'm guilty of caryring too much so 27 to 30ltr packs are my sweet spot (happy to drop down to 26ltrs)

I’m gonna have to say when packed out they fit their max dimensions like I list in the video. Of course at the middle when overstuffed maybe an inch or two more
Thanks for the review, JB! The CTB comparison is confusing, at least visually. The CTB looks taller but less deep, as to width they seem similar (if not wider for the CTB). None of that matches with their dimensions however! Any thoughts (especially on height)? I am leaning to the Max EDC but might need to use it on European budget airlines.
Good point! And I always bring up the official dimensions and also show them side-by-side. The visual contours of the bag are sometimes deceiving! As for height of the bag, the constraining piece is usually the back panel for really stuffing it into places. Neither of these will give you troubles in overhead bins
Haven't used the Forge but form what I can tell there are ton of difference in how you pack and use them. My two favorites in this category are the MAX EDC and Evergoods CTB26
OH! Great question...and I'm thinking of doing a regular series "Bags I'm Using Right NOW"...but here's what's in the rotation: Evergoods CBB22, Peak Design 25L Outdoor Backpack, GORUCK Bullet 15L (my custom)...plus some TOP SECRET options 😜. Most commonly this week is the CBB22...unless I'm going out to video stuff, then it's the Peak Design.
I like this bag but I wish they made a more significant size change from the original Max. 4L isn't that big of a difference. At 26L the bag is on the edge of being a EDC bag to being a travel bag. I guess that's the point (since the original is a travel backpack), but I personally wouldn't want to use a backpack that big to walk around the city for a day.
@JBOutside1 If you had to pick one, would you go with the Max EDC or the CTB26? I'm currently using a CPP for one-bag travel (PD Medium + Tech Pouch + Dopp Kit) but it gets too cramped when packing for 2 nights. The bag will also be used for EDC once per week when I'm in the office. Bonus question: Can the quick access on the front of the EDC fit a bicycle helmet?
That's all great and all BUT... does it ruck?? 👀 Anywho, I emailed them about MCB a week or so ago on their Max pack. They told me that's a no-go, so I'm assuming that extends to the EDC pack.
the thing i dislike is the blue on blue, zippers and straps (the seatbelt materials one to give the shape) should be black. so beautiful on the daily plus

No royalty on this soil, fella; we are all mere Hominids graced with the opportunity to carry one of these wonderful bags. Thanks for the content, JB.
Good stuff Sir Moorlander 😜
Thx! I'm currently debating this and ctb. I think this one is the winner..
Nice! A good one for sure
Great review and was the color I like also. To many good bags coming out recently.
I totally agree!
What’s the name of that smaller water bottle again, didn’t catch it. Thank you!
Coloral
Great video, could I ask what the depth on the bag is when packed out like how you had it in the vid vs something like that CTB packed out?
I’m gonna have to say when packed out they fit their max dimensions like I list in the video. Of course at the middle when overstuffed maybe an inch or two more
Some very thoughtful touches on this bag but the GR2 26 is still the best 26l bag for me!
Hard to argue there!
I’m debating swapping my GR2 for this… the laptop slot on the GR2 is such a pain but I’m also not sure. 😂
GR2 26 doesn't have bottle pockets(
Is there an alternative to this bag that’s a bit lighter? 3.4lbs is way too heavy for me
Lots...my channel is chocked full of options
No. It’s the only 26l EDC bag.
In all seriousness- 3.4 lbs is just WAY too big? That half a lbs really is just too much?

That front pocket. I'm confused.
There was a lot of fabric left that could give it more volume but it was difficult for you to put the cap1 in there?
Bag a little stiff as it's still relatively new...and some operator error
Love your video, btw how does it stack up against alpaka element backpack pro?
Those two are a lot different actually. Pocket style, admin options, etc...both great just different
Great vid! How do these compare to the BE Forge? Been looking for a travel style bag for short work trips.
Haven't used the Forge but form what I can tell there are ton of difference in how you pack and use them. My two favorites in this category are the MAX EDC and Evergoods CTB26
they should bring back the multicam x50, or introduce Max in White Alpine
Yes! 👏🏻
What everyday bag are you currently rocking with? (Non-travel)

@@JBOutside1 that’s interesting! I thought it would have been between the CBB22 and CPL16. And I would definitely be down to watch that series 👍🏼
Vs the ctb26, which one is more comfortable? Thanks

All depends on what you’re carrying really. For smaller loads their Daily Plus is a real winner
Are those YKK zippers? They didn’t look very smooth as you opened and closed the pockets.
Yes! YKK...It's probably me

CTB26 is my preferred. No do the big helmet on the EDC
@@JBOutside1 Thank you!
Hi @@JBOutside1, may I ask why you prefer ctb26 over max edc? I’m torn between these two.
@@jpcaloyski the yolk pocket is my favorite for quick access to sunglasses and I prefer the side bottle pockets on the CTBs

Haha, didn't get a ruck in with the MAX EDC...but I totally should. Bummer on the MCB...such a great one!
Need an even smaller version
I think this design is about as small as it can get an yet retain all the features
Will you be putting this bag through a ruck test?
I haven't yet...but I should! prediction: it will be awesome

All Able Carry bags are too heavy/clunky when empty which is too bad as I love the styling and organization
