I learned that from a friend a while ago. It’s almost like you have to give your brain time to line everything up, even if you don’t consciously know exactly what you’re going to say.

Only commenting on how in almost all the other interviews I've seen, he doesn't take anywhere near as much time when considering his answers, and how I think it's because he knows Lex [and by proxy, his audience] are more interested in hearing detailed and technical answers
My first thought was that he is matching his environment more than anything else. Be it conscious or unconscious he definitely is using pauses more like Lex than with others that interview him. Also the entire environment around will also effect one’s energy. The more people the more vibrations that one can be affected by and have an effect on.
I've seen his long pauses many times in other interviews. It's not about the audience, it's the questions being asked. If it's a thoughtful question, he takes his time to give a thoughtful answer. Some questions make him think, most do not because they are simple questions with simple answers and people ask the same things over and over.

Social life must be really difficult for him, or at least when he was younger. I constantly have this issue. A lot of people think I’m dumb partially due to my poor presentation, but also due to the fact that it sometimes takes to long for me to give the answer I want to give, or that needs to be given. Typically either People get frustrated and finish the sentence for me, or they’re shocked that I have that much to say after mulling the question over for what is just too long for most people.
@Kevin Cobb moonwalking with Einstein is about its uses in competition, doesn’t explain how to use it for everyday purposes. It’s not a guide about building memory palaces. But it is a great introduction into it. And a great book.

As of 2023, Elon seems to think that money (actually currency, as money and currency are two different things) is just information. This is not the case (not in our reality anyway, maybe in a theoretical quantum universe). Money is actually energy. Bitcoin is the closest representation of energy in the form of money that humanity has achieved. Bitcoin is effectively element zero in the periodic table. The information is stored within the energy, not the other way around.
It is hard to attack a good and sound idea. But it is easy to attack a person to bring that idea down. That maybe why Satoshi wanted to remain anonymous.
He knew for it to become a world wide currency that’s truly decentralized it couldn’t have a figurehead and there be someone who’s got the biggest coin bags who could dump on the market and absolutely tank everyone. This is one of if not bitcoins greatest feature.

Master in the construction of his persona, the slong pause to think and give a vague answer... THe fact he even accept so many interview and tv show shows how important his image is important to him and his brands.
Elon was working on PayPal, so he was intimate with the technology. He probably wanted to make paypal into bitcoin, but that surely would've been nixed as impractical by Peter Thiel and then Elon was probably shackled by non-competes which is why Elon had to make BTC anonymously. My best guess was Szabo/Musk were Satoshi, but Musk mentioning "Szabo" now makes me think it was Elon solo, just inspired by Szabo. BTC/the whitepaper has Elon's DNA all over it. I wish Lex had just asked point blank, "were you bound by a non-compete, through paypal, that would have disallowed you from making something like Bitcoin?"

I am pretty sure he's pausing to decide whether or not he should say Nick's name. He doesn't want to bring heat onto Szabo (knowing that Szabo is a very private person,) but he also is confident that Szabo deserves the majority of the credit for the invention of Bitcoin.

Me neither, i always tought it was that Guy…. I cant remember his name but he was the first one to make a bitcoin transaction ever and when he died in 2014 satoshi published his last message before going compleatly anonymous. So there might be a conncetion there.

Nick Szabo figured out the basic idea using Adam Back's Proof of Work, but never implemented it. Satoshi figured out how to put the cherry on the top and actually worked out how to implement it in the real world with the help of Hal Finney.
