It's so much more enjoyable listening to an interview with two introverts, flows much better than say (extroverted) Rogan's do, interrupting his guests. Two books Elon recommends: Man's search for Meaning, and The Fourth Turning. Both INCREDIBLY important reads.
Be useful. Have a net positive contribution to society. Produce more than you consume. Learn as much as possible. Read a lot of books in a lot of different subjects. Consume a lot of knowledge in order to find your niche, i.e. what you like to do and what you are inherently good at.

I read one book a week, from science fiction, phislosphy, history, to self-help. I am a 14-year-old from India, and I'm trying to build some really cool (at least for me) things. But you know what? I don't even have one friend because they find me boring and a nerd. The point is, life is hard and it's supposed to be. But you have to choose the reason behind the pain you are experiencing, either is it for growth, isolation, discipline, or regret.
I love that Elon doesn't care if it's awkward to not talk before he's done thinking about questions before he answers them. No wonder this guy's so successful, he has an incredible way of seeing the world that's so different than most.
But he wants to terraform Mars?! He’s part of the WEF at Davos. Why terraform another planet that is showing us what we are doing to ours as we speak!? He and the other elite MF’s have the ability to transform this planet while we’re already on it. Spread the wealth and take care of one another. Musk is a joke! If we can’t work together here, how the hell are we going to work together on Mars?! Lol.
@@tuckerhowie1 While your point is true, at least Musk is not the sole one who is destroying the world. It's the whole economic system and behavior psychology of people that needs to be solved in order to fix the problems on Earth.
Great points about creating more pie through excitement. I notice more and more people operating from very jaded and pessimistic view points. Not sure that a negative mindset has ever been beneficial in my life. We should all be more like kids who were interested in learning about life and nurturing a creative work ethic through playful joyous thinking.

A lot of people wanting Joe to be more like this but forget this is Lex's background. Joe's background is comedy and commentating but he paved the way for this to happen. I definitely agree though that this interview is better than Joes but love both.
its also a huge pitfall for many people. Learning things on surface level often has no value apart from personal entertainment or trivia nights at the pub. You fall into the trap of 'only doing the fun things' of a given discipline and not building a solid foundation. You need to remember Elons work ethic borders on insanity, the guy regulary pulls 100 hour work weeks.
That makes sense. I've been using a financial market expert for two years now and I own a six-figure diversified portfolio from investing in stocks. I want to diversify more this year, though.
One thing I really appreciate about Elon, outside of all his accomplishments is the pauses he takes before answering a question. He takes time to comprehend the question and comes up with an intentional answer with some sort of reasoning or evidence behind his answers. As a big mouth, I learn a lot from this man. 😂 🙏
i think that being useful is to try to give a positive influence on your area for instance : I am a transport engineer and i try my best to serve transport in areas that lack this service ... this is real impact
You are comparing a totally different type of person to Lex. Joe Rogan is much less academically experienced and less intellectual, but more socially nimble.
Lex just a suggestion, could you have a playlist for each guest you have? Makes it difficult to rewatch something when you have to a scroll through other videos 😬
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 (KJV).
How to be succesful? Steve Jobs: Say no to things, focus on something. Elon Musk: Try to learn a little bit about a lot of things. For sure intelligent famous rich people know what is right, right? Just think for yourself. Nobody knows whats better for you except you yourself.
actually that is brilliant advice. 60 years ago, we learned that skin color doesn't determine if you are better or worse than others. I am hoping that young people can realize that just because you think differently than others or if you are smarter than others, it doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme. That we're all in this together, and that no one should ever be left behind in the game of life.
@@megalaxmax9979 People don't care about skin color....I've been in and lived and worked in most states north and south and 99.9 % of people DO NOT care about that. We were taught its the content of character and that's it. All I've seen is people getting along. But since 2008 (look at the medias use of racist language since then, the graph looks like a hockey stick...thanks Obama and cohorts) The media and left screech about racism but never really find any GENUINE cases...always a hoax by attention seekers. Let's find these racists and root them out...where are they? They don't exist. The fact that you buy into this hook line and sinker is sad and scary. Like I tell my grandson...anyone who brings up skin color and screeches about hate generally is the one that is the real racist..must be in their head deep. They are the one with mental problems.
The nice thing about a conversation between socially awkward individuals is that they manage to get straight to the point without having to worry of risk of confusing or boring the listener.
1. Try to be useful 2. Read books and injest affirmations 3. Skim through bitannica encyclopaedia And skip subject area which doesn't interests you to know the subjects which interests you 4. Dont have zero sum mindset
He mentioned this question "what is the meaning of life" in a couple of his interviews, I think whoever has this question in mind and his life revolves around this question is the one who can actually be useful and have an impact on the people and maybe he would be able to create this impact on the world.
Let me say this: I know I’m not Elon F***ing Musk, but the answer to the question of best advice for young people, is to take care of your mental/spiritual health as best as you can. All of the things these geniuses mention in this video will be extremely helpful and are more practical for what job you find, but no matter what job you have, you will be miserable if you don’t take care of your mental health. That means eating relatively healthily, taking walks/exercise, some form of meditation or consistent soul/mind searching, and getting good sleep. This is already so much to take care of, that if you let one of these things slip away from you you could end up being miserable no matter what type of life you live. Stay away from drugs, find joy in your life, and like every great influence always says, try to find what makes you happy in life, and do that. Love you all, sincerely, and I hope you all live peaceful lives and smile more.
Yes and ig he said and valued the point you made in the very begining remember? Mans search for meaning... Emphasizing on the meaning of life which broadly encompases spirituality , mental health and purpose
@@frog6054 I suggest exercise, get enough sleep and appropriate sun bathing, receiving white lights (from bulbs and tv/phone screens) before sleep time can reduce your sleep quality and emotion if symptom continues, seek help from a doctor :D
1) Try to be useful. 2) Have a positive net contribution to the society. 3) Use the mental tools of physics and apply them broadly in life. They are the best tools. 4) Develop a good general knowledge. Read a lot of books. 5) Have a positive sum mindset. 6) Create more than you consume.
I am satisfied with what ELON explained about reading . That's my idea too because the previous scientist was not reading than writing because knowledge is in everyway.
Can anyone please give me the link of the book Elon recommend " condensed encyclopaedia Britannica"!!!! I searched online but didn't get the accurate one
My takeaways from this video: - find out what you like and what you're good at - the easiest way to do this is by reading - read books that provide general knowledge on a broad range of topics (like encyclopedias) - be useful. It's not easy, but strive to find ways to be useful in this world.
That is so true and I have seen it time and again when the bosses come with the question "How about putting in your career path a manager position?" the answer was always " No thank you, I prefer to be an engineer"
Advice for young people, from an Economics perspective. "Lie a lot, sound confident, and always go for the Money". Thanks Elon, I summed that shit up for you real quick.
This guy has the potential or already hopefully is doing this ...+ regarding a total rewrite of the education system and how we learn. Idk if he is on any school boards but maybe we should give kids encyclopedias, and perhaps the result is like a new World led by empirical science physics math, and data- (a more accepted one rather) a world of geniuses. goodnight. The more I learn the more I learn that I've learned useless things to ever do something massive or grand for my community or world. Wisdom .. idk. However.. I am useful . as he brought up usefulness--.. I save lives! for 10 years I basically handle the biggest inconveniences in a stranger's life and funny enough... to my naps..(kidding/kindly not kidding) Not that it doesnt bother me if someone is hurting but before and after handling it, it's the furtherst thing from my problem.. It's so much more enjoyable listening to an interview with two introverts, flows much better than say (extroverted) Rogan's do, interrupting his guests. Two books Elon recommends: Man's search for Meaning, and The Fourth Turning. Both INCREDIBLY important reads.
You got more Important reads on yo list?
I agree this comment - it is great to see them chat which allow space to think and elaborate their thoughts than talk over each other.
I love the way they provide space and time to think & elaborate. They’re relaxed and pressure free.

Be useful. Have a net positive contribution to society. Produce more than you consume. Learn as much as possible. Read a lot of books in a lot of different subjects. Consume a lot of knowledge in order to find your niche, i.e. what you like to do and what you are inherently good at.

1. Bring value more than you consume
2. Apply physics as much possible
3. Consume as much info possible, general knowledge. > know what you interest in
4. Talk to people from various age and occupation
5. Talent + interest

Agreed, I appreciate when people take their time to speak something thought out.
Great points about creating more pie through excitement. I notice more and more people operating from very jaded and pessimistic view points. Not sure that a negative mindset has ever been beneficial in my life. A lot of people wanting Joe to be more like this but forget this is Lex's background. Joe's background is comedy and commentating but he paved the way for this to happen. I definitely agree though that this interview is better than Joes but love both.
Trying to learn a little about a lot of things is the best advice I think he gave, with the emphasis on reading as much as you can
its also a huge pitfall for many people. Learning things on surface level often has no value apart from personal entertainment or trivia nights at the pub. You fall into the trap of 'only doing the fun things' of a given discipline and not building a solid foundation. You need to remember Elons work ethic borders on insanity, the guy regulary pulls 100 hour work weeks.

actually that is brilliant advice.
I'd like to see evidence of your first point. As most evidence points towards the contrary.

No ones cares about skin color outside of America. You guys are goddamn obsessed with skin color.

I love Elon, he has been of great value and impact to me. Just be useful in life, that's it.
Love you all, sincerely, and I hope you all live peaceful lives and smile more.
walking is indeed a good exercise, just walk normally, or slowly
Yes and ig he said and valued the point you made in the very begining remember? Mans search for meaning... Emphasizing on the meaning of life which broadly encompases spirituality , mental health and purpose

My takeaways from this video:
- find out what you like and what you're good at
- the easiest way to do this is by reading
- read books that provide general knowledge on a broad range of topics (like encyclopedias)
- be useful. It's not easy, but strive to find ways to be useful in this world.
