I know for me I feel very content most of the time but sometimes I tend to think about things a little deeper and it hurts not having any hope of a better human condition. It is important we have people who spend their day to day building a future so that we regular working people can support and believe in that cause.

The short answer is "purpose." People often think that once they acquire a nest egg equivalent to 25× their anticipated annual retirement expenditure (probably a bit more if retiring prior to age 60), that they can just spend the rest of their lives laying in a hammock. You probably can't actually do that for 30+ years without growing restless. People need purpose in their lives, and when you're a billionaire, you possess the means to pursue and have a significant impact on whatever matters offer you that sense of purpose, which is naturally quite rewarding.

If you invest well (and cut your costs...no cars, boats or fat mortgages) you can retire then choose what you WANT to do.

@@whatupwhatup4206 My conclusion to that has been something I call "hopeful nihilism". You accept that there is most probably no "higher reason", at least as far as we know. At the same time, you recognize science as the only tool that even has the possibility of letting us find out about the nature of the universe. Whatever it looks like, whether it's a secret code embedded in the "formula of everything" (the holy grail of physics) by our creators or that latter formula is just a formula and we realise it really is pointless, it is worth finding out. And the most direct way you as an individual can contribute to this goal is becoming a scientist and doing the best work you can. Or, you choose to contribute indirectly by becoming a science teacher (or similar), motivating a new generation to become scientists, or make a whole lot of money and use that to fund science (like Mr. Musk).
The point is, there's not much you can do and much less a guarantee of success, on the contrary, that effort is probably "pointless". But in my opinion it is the most meaningful (or least pointless) thing you can do with your life.
Once arrived at that conclusion, beware of depression, especially as a teenager!Don't underestimate human psychology. Here I would recommend reading Camus and adopting a watered-down version of Absurdism. You will hopefully accept the apparent pointlessness but, most importantly, reject (to some degree at least) the need to even have "a point". Being in open protest to this idea and instead simply trying to be happy through a hedonistic lifestyle can really save you from the rabbit hole. Of course, this is a bit contradictory to what I said before. In short, I found the optimal life philosophy to be: "I don't really need a higher 'meaning of life' and will instead just try to be happy, appreciating the little things. But, since I'm already here and a meaning life would be quite nice to find, I'll commit my career to science. Hopefully, we get somewhere during my lifetime, and if not, well I tried."
I said this latter part because I did struggle with the conclusion and ended up playing computer games all day, trying to escape that reality. Don't be afraid to spend some time actively trying to fix your mental state. Especially as a teenager before college, don't hesitate to take a gap year, get out of your usual routine and learn to be happy in life despite not having a clear purpose.
Thank you for listeing to my TED-Talk hahahah

indeed....there's another quote that says "I'd rather have questions without answers than answers that can't be questioned." here's a few to ponder
      1. does jet fuel melt steel beams?
      2. do boats "disappear" over the horizon?
      3. why were doctors/hospitals incentivized to misdiagnose deaths as (0V1D-related?
      4. why was the public offered free donuts/burgers in exchange for receiving an experimental jab if its supposed to be in the name of health?

I was thinking to myself: "This is my kind of book". Not only because it was funny, but because I had to think about what made it funny. Glad to see Elon sharing this view on the novel and what it represents.

There are thoughts that can total melt any understanding you thought you had on life, whether they are right or not.. so, knowledge is dangerous, whether true or false. How we process and use that info can be harmless or can destroy us.

We already know, for instance, that high-quality relationships provide much more satisfaction and purpose than anything else. And questions about purpose always provide the best answers when they are asked about our individual specific purpose and calling rather than our collective purpose as a human race. Even if we had THE big answer about the meaning of life, we'd still have to ask ourselves what that would look like and how it would play out in our own personal life. Just my two cents.

Another thing he always said was if you have consciousness now it will forever be even past death because time would never have existed in the first place, im really butchering my grandads words.

Musk states that he can create an atmosphere on Mars.
Mars does not have a Magnetic field to protect its atmosphere, so what is this talk about creating an atmosphere. Note: The Magnetosphere Protects Earth's Atmosphere
The magnetosphere deflects much of the solar particles and energy that stream towards Earth at all times. Without the magnetosphere, Earth's layered atmosphere would deteriorate due to the constant bombardment of solar wind.
Musk stated that cows do not cause environmental harm.
The average daily CO2 emission for dairy cows producing 63 pounds of milk per day was 6,137 liters. The range was 5,042 to 7,427 liters per day over a six-month monitoring period. A recent paper reported the CO2 emissions using data summarized from the USDA Energy Metabolism Unit.
One serving of Beef (100g) is equivalent to 15.5kg CO2e, or 78.7km of driving. One serving of Beef (100g) is equivalent to 15.5kg CO2e. One serving of Lamb (100g).
Livestock production-primarily cows-produce 14.5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. The majority of that is in the form of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that is a natural byproduct of how some livestock process food. But as Christopher Booker reports, scientists are hoping that small tweaks in what cows eat can dramatically reduce a big source of climate emissions.
The solar wind sweeps through the solar system far beyond the orbit of Pluto, forming a large "bubble" called the heliosphere. According to NASA, the heliosphere is shaped like a long wind sock as it moves with the sun.

Damn.. just when I thought this is how things are, Elon took a computational approach and broke the box elucidating that more conscious power is required to even ask the right questions. 👍

Bro. He is full of it. He read the religious texts he says and he was not convinced. Nah this anti Christ is trying to convince you that we are above God.

Meaning of life is what you make it... it can be what Elon does or simple living experiencing, trying, learning... but whatever you make of it never stop... its not meant to be existence waiting for the day you die... its meant to be an adventure where you do as much as you can

I agree that you make a decision of what is the meaning of life. But I disagree that it's WHATEVER you make of it. The Nazis thought the meaning of life was to push forward their white supremacists ideas and murder people if necessary, especially the Jews. No, meaning isn't whatever you make of it

You shouldn’t ask yourself: “What’s the meaning of life?”.
You need to ask yourself: “What can I do to give life meaning?”.

Elon is a beautiful, generous, honest and brilliant man who wants to share his gifts with others to make their lives better while searching for meaning in life. If more technologists were like him there would be more peace in the world. God bless and protect Elon.

Your LIFE is the meaning of life.
Understand your systems and you will understand the universes. It is interconnected.
