@@Paulftate Mr Faffplate, I'm so sorry for somehow or other treading on your delicate sensibilities. Please educate all us ignorant folk, and tell us who YOU think the victors and losers were.

There is another dairy of a captured German prisoner (the one who fled his American POW camp when the US was about to send all POWs back to their native towns in Germany. This fellow remained on the run in America until the 1989s. He fled because of rumors that POEs from East Germany would be sent there & then immediately be sent to POW camps in Soviet Union. Turns out he was right !

I've read Georg Gaertner's memoirs and he was quite a guy. I just saw a piece about the California Zephyr rescue in 1952 and there was Georg aka Dennis Whiles being the hero

My great uncle Yakoff Strokinoff was great Soviet war hero. At battle Leningrad, he killed nine Nazis with A Grach 443 and a broken vodka bottle. He would cut ear off of Nazis he killed and made Necklace. On way to Berlin, he molested many German woman. He would give ear to one’s he liked. Stalin heard of his exploits and would listen to Uncle Yakoff’s stories for hours on end. Stalin made Uncle Yakoff attaché to Libya after war. He had had many Libyan woman. When they killed Khadaffi, they came for Uncle Yakoff but he cut off ear of first one and the rest ran away in horror. Uncle Yakoff currently lives in Tripoli with house on the Mediterranean. He is 101 years old now and has 17 yo Libyan wife, whom he wears out 3 to 5 times a day. He keeps necklace of ears on the living room wall. Very interesting conversation piece. Uncle Yakoff will have statue at the gates to Leningrad one day. Uncle Yakoff told me UA-cam WW2 videos are all garbage. Live long, Uncle Yakoff.
