As this was prior to the Battle of Kursk, in July 1943, the title of "King Tiger" is inappropriate. This was the Tiger I (Pz. VI), and not the "King" Tiger II (Pz. VII) first manufactured in 1944-45.
When I listen to these accounts I’m struck by something. These days when you read about or watch videos about WWII there is soooo much content around about the supposedly unstoppable German tanks. The Allies were always scrambling to find something to fight them with because the rounds from all their guns would simply bounce off the panzers’ armor. Yet in these accounts all the tanks seem to either break down or they get blown up in battle. Sure, they had good main guns, and they had thick frontal armor, but apparently there is a lot more to it than that.
Interesting//informative/entertaining. Excellent photography picture of tank & crew members. Enabling viewers to better understand what the orator is describing. Special thanks to the tank commander keeping a diary. Making this documentary more authentic and possible-!!!😉 yes due to the WW-1 dispatch runner 🏃♂️ disillusioned corporal Hitler’s refusal’s to allow general Von Paulus to have the 6th army’s retreat from Stalingrad. & his stupidity not to disobey & save 100K defenders from capture by the Russians. That was the icing on the cake with military operations blunders. As the Russian military forces purged German military forces from their territory.
The king tiger was great if you could ever get it there. American tanks were not built for a duel with a king tiger they were built for troop support and built by the thousands easy to move easy to fix. Just the opposite for the king tiger their transmissions would fail and imposable for the average mechanics to fix hard to get around roads did not support them . The king tiger was a total fail at “task at hand “ 60 mph American Hell Cats had a field day taking them out.
Victor's history again ! See then real battlefield in Ukraine 2024 American military might is just a joke. So in WW2 the role of American tanks were just a pile of Zippo ! The American/British tanks in 2024 look like the German King Tiger in 1944-45. So this proof that how formidable the King Tiger be in WW2. No Amercan Hell Cats could take down 14 King tigers formation. In real war we must talk about no less than a company of King Tigers fighting against more than two companies of American tanks. Propagandist love to talk about a lone King Tiger being destroyed by a group of American tanks.
The Sherman WAS better than the German tanks. Seriously. Would you want to line up against a Tiger on a football field and duel it out? No, probably not. But that’s not what I mean. The Sherman was the right tank, however, for a country that needed to get tanks built, and shipped across an ocean, along with crews, mechanics, ammo, fuel, and spare parts, in numbers large enough to win the war. It did that.
