I just cant ! Amy Lee is one of the best female vocalists in this lifetime. Just saying. Lithium, Everbodys Fool, Call me when you're sober, check it out shes amazing. Bring me to Life is the only song they added rap to as far as i remember.
And the only reason Bring me to Life had rap in it is a sad story. Well not sad as in boo hoo, but sad as in how much power the studios have over the artists. Evenescence almost didnt get signed. The studio execs told Amy she had to have a male rapper in the band, as it was the in thing at that time. But Amy was dead against it ( much to her credit ) but the exes tried to force her to have one. In the end she was going to walk out, but then the exec relented and said she didnt have to have one in the band, but she did have to have one in one song. Which is how the male rap part of Bring me to Life came about. Shows how much power they have over artists. I mean they ended up not having a perm rapper, but they did have to use one even if they didnt want to. In saying that, it is still a great song, and i cant really imagine that song with out the male part.
@@AgunziLFC yes it was actually the movie studio that was making the highly anticipated (but ultimate flop) movie daredevil that was to blame. They heard the song without rap and specifically asked to put it in to get it on the soundtrack..
If you watch the video she is a spirit who's passed away but can't move on because of the intense grieving of a loved one. The spirit tries to help him heal so she can move on but their intense pain holds her to him.
This was one of the first bands I fell in love with and one of my first albums I ever owned. Still one of my faves. I love Evanescence! The Fallen album is Perfection!
Evanescence has several big hits besides Bring me to Life. Lithium, Call Me when you're Sober, All That I'm Living For are all great. Very angelic voice with sexy goth/Victorian style of dress. Some other people suggested Halestorm, they are another great band, more in line with hard rock, think like a Joan Jett/ Pat Bentar vocal but more rock.
Nice reaction. They have numerous hits. Amy Lee has an incredible voice. Music flows in circles. The sounds that are popular seem to always come back around. You'll go a while and then you'll get a bunch of songs with that Blues feeling to it. Then that will go away, and the full orchestra sound comes back. And round and round we go. Evanescence is on tour with Halstrom at the moment. Halstrom is another female singer you guys can check out. She started young too. Almost, almost as young as Su-metal. Su still has a few years on her. This song was about Amy Lee's sister who passed away. However, songs take on a life of their own. And the lyrics become what they mean to the listener. So it could be about a break up and they're still in love with the person. Check out Sade's "Haunt Me" it's another song that fits this category as well. For something that went to the opposite field after the song was released, check out Every Breath You Take. When it came out many folks took it romantically. While Sting said the song is about a stalker. My Immortal is a great song no matter what the listener feels it's about. That's one of the things that makes it great.
This song was written by Amy lee's bandmate Ben Moody when he was 17 . It is about the lose of his grandfather . Amy is the singer all others are judged by . Even Floor. They have tons of great songs. I would recommend their song - Good Enough .
I believe Amy lost her sister at a young age, this song is inspired by that tragic event. It's Amy's masterpiece. Evanescence has many great songs, their first album is one of my personal favorites of all time. You can't go wrong listening to Amy Lee.
Lithium is an amazing song that showcases her voice beautifully too… there are so many hits - everybody’s fool - call me when your sober - going under - sweet sacrifice - Lithium. Really want to see you cover more evanescence!!!
Also would want to reccomend Lithium, as well as Call me when youre sober, and sweet sacrifice. I've been a fan for about 20 years, actually seeing them live (again) this weekend lol.

Great reaction guys. "My immortal" is one of the most emotionally charged songs I've ever listened to in my life. It always makes me feel a little sad when I listen to it, but in a beautiful way if that makes sense. I would recommend reacting to Placebo feat. David Bowie "without you I'm nothing". It's really different in terms of style than " My immortal", but it is an incredibly haunting performance. Trully amazing.
Yes! Her voice issss angelic!! This song is so beautiful! Still brings a tear to my eye tho! Absolutely loved y'all's reaction to this song! Thanks guys for reacting to this captivating song!!!
Actually, the original version of My Immortal didn't have the hard drop at the end. It was played straight through with just the piano and her amazing voice. This song and Bring Me to Life were tied to that Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck and basically launched her career.
I believe the version they are reacting to in the video is the Band Version, while the version featured in the "Daredevil" movie and the film soundtrack, is the Album Version. I kind of prefer the latter tbh, but I like this version too.
Evanescence is an amazing band. They've been together since 1995 when Amy and the original guitarist were just young teenagers. They've had a few lineup changes over the years, so Amy is the only original member remaining. This song was HUGE when it came out in 2002. The hits are great but they've got a ton of great, lesser known stuff, like "Cloud Nine," "Lacrymosa," "Lose Control," "Imaginary," "Whisper," "Haunted," "Never Go Back," "Sweet Sacrifice," "Weight of the World," the list goes on and on. Evanescence is mainly considered gothic rock/metal band with a lot of symphonic influences.
They released a new album earlier this year! It's super different, but it still has their flavor. "Better Without You" is a great one to start off with! The Evanescence rabbit hole might surprise you.
Jim McMahon was the quarterback for the Bears between '82 to '88. Thank you for reacting to Evanescednce. I only know their song Bring me to life so it's good to hear more stuff by them.
Now please do the official video. The man at the piano in the video wrote it for his grandfather who died. His death really broke him up, so he wrote this song and told Amy to put her own spin on it. The video is visually amazing. Great reaction! I am no metal head but I love watching the both of you!
Lit reaction homies. I've loved this song for years. Great band and amy's voice is unreal and soul piercing. I still get emotional when I listen to it.
Again, you have reacted to a song that is a masterpiece of music. Although you have already published the reaction, this is a song that I think should always be heard watching the official video, because it has a simplicity and a beauty that complement the song

Going Under is one of my favorites along with this one and Bring Me To Life. They have been helping me through my depression. I’ve know about these songs and have been listening for so many years. Around 7 to 8 years.
What an amazing song. Her voice is so beautiful. The lyrics are heart wrenching, emotional. Love the black and white video. Amy is beautiful. Her eyes are piercing. Great reaction, Billy Boy
This single when it came out was also pretty big. Whole audience will sing along when they play it live. Evanescence has pleeeeenty of hits! “Bring Me To Life” is just the one everyone ‘memes’ to death and that everyone just knows for the chorus. I still love the song, though. Even the songs that weren’t singles are also AMAZING. Started listening when I was very young, 18 (almost 19) years ago. Songs I like that aren’t singles are “Lacrymosa”, “Whisper”, “Imaginary”, “Your Star”, “Take Cover”, “The Change” - the list goes on.
Amy Lee is an incredible vocalist. (Covered her many times karaoke-ing. Haha) I second all the song suggestions to react to by Amy/Evanescence that I’ve seen in the comments. But I haven’t seen anyone suggest “Freak on a Leash” with her and KoRn. It’s one of my faves. Maybe we can get to that one someday.
your reactions to the drop was so satisfying ahaha. loving your interpretations of some of the lyrics, they were really insightful! if you wanted more by evanescence i would suggest 'call my when you're sober' or more recently 'yeah right' is quite a fun one. great vid!
Man. I remember when this song came out, now we are kind of used to listen, but back them. Broke the MTV and still. It's one of the most (if not the most) beautiful song of the 2000's, I may sound a bit boomer, but this is what I miss from music, the human part In every genre. Not the bunch of samples or midi sounds that we get these days. It doesn't sound real, doesn't have feelings.
This isn't a break up song. The song is about loss like when someone you cared about/loved dies and you're grieving that loss Evanescence is just plain amazing!!!!!! Glad you're checking out Evanescence. Two of my all-time favorite bands are A Perfect Circle (so you can see why I'd be here already) and Evanescence, so that's pretty awesome. Evanescence has had a bunch of singles. If you want to check out one of those, I'd recommend Going Under or Lithium next. If you want a deeper track, try Your Star or Tourniquet.
You guys really should check out some more Spiritbox! Courtney's voice just soars over all the their amazing debut album Eternal Blue! Check out the Title Track! She had said in interviews that Amy was a huge inspiration 🙂✌️
this is one of the songs that amy lee wrote about her little sister that died when they were still kids. “you used to captivate me, by your resonating light, now i’m bound by the life you left behind” “your face it haunts, my once pleasant dreams” “i’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone, but though you’re still with me, i’ve been alone all along”
This beautiful Goddess of a singer's name is Amy Lee and yes she definitely has an Angelic voice. She also knows how to play the Piano, if y'all wanna hear more of Evanescence songs I can give you a list, plus the song My Immortals actually about her sister who died and that she misses her and says that she haunts her dream cause of all that love she has for her sister the songs for y'all to react to r right here : Going Under, Bring me to Life, Call me When your Sober, Everybody's Fool, Lithium, Tourniquet, Hello, Use my voice, Better without you, Feeding the dark, The only one, Lacrymosa, Sweet sacrifice, My heart is Broken, Made of stone, Lost in Paradise, What you want, Imaginary and many more that I can't think of
I like how this song kind of teases you into thinking there's going to be that drop, but it doesn't. Then finally it hits. Holding it back until later on in the song, instead of dropping after the first verse, makes it so much better. It builds a sense of anxiety and tension, which compliments the lyrics, and then finally breaks it at the end. Great song and lyric writing.. I really hope you guys bring Unleash The Archers back. Test Your Metal is perfect for your next one by them🤘🇨🇦
For the "record": "The lyrics of the song refer to a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one. Similar to several other songs written by [Ben] Moody, the lyrics of the song are based on a short story he had previously written.[According to Lee, it was "Ben [Moody]'s song." Moody said that the song talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." He also stated in the booklet of Fallen that he dedicated the song to his grandfather, Bill Holcomb. In "My Immortal", Lee expresses her feelings through the line, "Though you're still with me / I've been alone all along.A writer for IGN said that "'My Immortal' is a song of pain and despair caused by the loss of a family member or very close friend and how it drove her [Lee] to the edge of insanity." (source is wikipedia(dot)org)
Amy Lees mother is an opera singer. Amy has been singing and having lessons her whole life. That's why she sounds amazing. David from Disturbed is also classically trained. That's why he can hit those higher notes so smoothly despite being a bass singer. Katy Perry and Marylin Manson were church choir kids. Their parents respectively were pastors. I think Slash from Gn'R is classically trained, too. Even tho he doesn't sing much as he's obviously loves guitar more.
You guys need to listen to synthesis, that’s exactly what they did. Amy is a classically trained song writer and composer., she’s amazing but synthesis is incredible
I lost my son to cancer when he was 13 years old. He loved this song, and it hits me harder than it did before. He fought cancer 3 separate times in 3 years, with such courage and dignity, then when the cancer came back the fourth time, he refused treatment and insisted on being donated to science just in case there was even the slightest chance to help another child in the future.
I lost my 13 year old son to a car accident. I feel your pain of loss but I can't imagine the pain of watching the horrible sickness take your baby. Sending so much love to you from one mom to another.
Idk at all, but I've always thought about this song as someone dying, she held them and dried their tears to comfort them but in the end hating she gave up her life along the line but she had no control over that because she loved them and still does and can't let go. My interpretation.
guys , this is the 2nd time round for this song , the original was done and sang by the piano guy , and was dedicated to his uncle , but it didnt do well , so he redid it with amy , and amy sang it about her sister who died , to give her inspiration . and this was the result , its not only beautiful , like amy , but its very emotional . love it .
If you watched the official video to this song it’s obviously about a loss! But in the video she portrays the spirit as you can see in the whole video she never touched the ground. And as of the tone represents the stages of loss in the song the soft vocal and piano in the beginning represents sadness and shock of the loss the band and rock part was the anger and resentment of losing the person than back to soft vocals which is the acceptance of that the person is gone.
There is a version of this song that is just her and a piano.... for however it does it hits different. Never been a huge fan besides the few hits they had but If I may check out "going under" that is songs pretty dope.

I second this entire list of songs. Everybody's Fool is my recommendation for next time though. The message in it is fire.
They were forced to put rap into bring me to life by the record company. Cuz that was the "thing" to do at the time.
You guys really should check out some more Spiritbox! Courtney's voice just soars over all the their amazing debut album Eternal Blue! Check out the Title Track! She had said in interviews that Amy was a huge inspiration 🙂✌️
I agree on Spiritbox. They are amazing!
The actual music video is so Beautiful!!
Hits by Evanescence: Lithium, Call Me When You're Sober, Going Under, Everybody's Fool, Haunted, Imaginary, Missing and more.
Need to do more Evanescence for sure!
this is one of the songs that amy lee wrote about her little sister that died when they were still kids.
“you used to captivate me, by your resonating light, now i’m bound by the life you left behind”
“your face it haunts,
my once pleasant dreams”
“i’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone, but though you’re still with me,
i’ve been alone all along”
You really should have watched the official music video while doing this reaction, it just adds that much more emotion!
Jim McMahon was the QB for the 85 bears, mike ditka was the coach
I mean I went through This stage , great songs. But right this moment I am realising this is exactly how I feel.
The video really adds to the song but even just the song always tears me up.
Beautiful tearful strength matured honest heartfelt vengeful extreme concluded mesmerised enjoyed rewind....
Their whole album is amazing.
It'll leave you weeping like a little child at the end.
Aw man do more of this, you'll love more of her songs I promise
Might be the only song that ever made me cry next to amazing grace!!!!!
This beautiful Goddess of a singer's name is Amy Lee and yes she definitely has an Angelic voice. She also knows how to play the Piano, if y'all wanna hear more of Evanescence songs I can give you a list, plus the song My Immortals actually about her sister who died and that she misses her and says that she haunts her dream cause of all that love she has for her sister the songs for y'all to react to r right here
: Going Under, Bring me to Life, Call me When your Sober, Everybody's Fool, Lithium, Tourniquet, Hello, Use my voice, Better without you, Feeding the dark, The only one, Lacrymosa, Sweet sacrifice, My heart is Broken, Made of stone, Lost in Paradise, What you want, Imaginary and many more that I can't think of
I like how this song kind of teases you into thinking there's going to be that drop, but it doesn't.
In "My Immortal", Lee expresses her feelings through the line, "Though you're still with me / I've been alone all along.A writer for IGN said that "'My Immortal' is a song of pain and despair caused by the loss of a family member or very close friend and how it drove her [Lee] to the edge of insanity." Amy Lees mother is an opera singer.
Howdy, This is Darkwoodz... an interesting band called Morbid Angle, song God of emptiness. It will Shake your Soul. Nice channel by the way!
A voice to be reckoned with for sure! Keep on rockin' of the free world guys!
Devildriver - The Mountain
Unearth - Endless
I lost my son to cancer when he was 13 years old. He loved this song, and it hits me harder than it did before. He fought cancer 3 separate times in 3 years, with such courage and dignity, then when the cancer came back the fourth time, he refused treatment and insisted on being donated to science just in case there was even the slightest chance to help another child in the future.
I’m so sorry for your loss 😞 Sending you a big hug from the UK 🤗
I lost my 13 year old son to a car accident. I feel your pain of loss but I can't imagine the pain of watching the horrible sickness take your baby. Sending so much love to you from one mom to another.
@@amaners1 I am so very sorry for your loss. No matter how it happens, it is beyond devastating, mentally and physically.
Nightwish, Evanescence and Within Temptation thats where you go for top tier female voices, they never disappoint :)
Not many songs I call beautiful but this is one of them. It's crazy this song was made 19 years ago!
The live version is truly angelic, PLEASE REACT TO IT, love you guys
My wife and I just seen her in concert a month ago and her performance of this song was awesome.
I'm not crying..you are!
Looking forward to this!!!!!
There is a version of this song that is just her and a piano.... for however it does it hits different. Never been a huge fan besides the few hits they had but If I may check out "going under" that is songs pretty dope.
Great reaction guys. This song is about losing a loved one. Not about a breakup.
Not gonna lie evanescence was my gateway to one of my favorite bands still to this day!!! Epica 🎶🥰
