Amy was singing about a toxic relationship, and that she was "put to sleep" by it. Her soul was frozen in a cold dark place. Her friend at the time(now husband), asked her one day "So, are you happy?" It hit her deep, and she wondered how he could see through her front of being happy(in the bad relationship). He looked into her eyes like open doors and read her like a book. Which inspired the first verse. - paraphrased from an interview with Amy I see it like a metaphorical twist on the "sleeping beauty" story. Her soul was frozen, and she was stuck in a horrible relationship while pretending she was happy. Her prince came along, and with one question, pierced her heart and woke her up and pushed her to find greener pastures.
Felt this song was too overplayed in rock bars and things back in the early 00's but hearing it again after all these years I can appreciate it as a great song.
I remember this coming out. It was not only part of the Daredevil movie (for all the Marvel fans) but was also something different than what else was going on.
Amy, the bands singer, just has a haunting and beautiful voice and is easy on the eyes, we can’t deny that. But she’s also a hell of a songwriter as well. When Fallen came out, you could not escape this song. Yeah, it was overplayed, but it was something new and fresh and stood out. The guy who duetted with her on this track was from another band, i believe on their label, called 12 Stones. They are worth a look. The first two albums from Evanescence are pretty flawless.
The album fallen also released in 2003 (which bring me to life is on) sold over 17 million copies. 50 cent can cry all he wants. Evanescence deserved that Grammy
Amy Lee, amazing vocalist. “Call me when you’re sober” is fantastic. Also, her solo video of her singing “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin is stunning!
This song was one those songs that I liked but just got over played and I got sick of hearing it. But yeah she definitely has a great and distinct voice. The one song she did with the dude from Seether I believe it was called Broken, awesome song. Y'all should definitely check it out.
Sadly this was a song they were forced to use a male singer. The record label wouldn’t sign evanescence without this compromise. Amy never intended this to be this way. She wrote it about the person who eventually would win her heart. The band low key hates this
@@morrigan_fayre3778 You mean SHE hates it She shits in the band all the time and they are barely allowed to talk to the fans or media because it is in her words "My show"
‘Bring Me to Life’ and ‘Going Under’ were the two songs that got the most airplay, if I remember correctly, but the entire Fallen album was pretty well known. Every song was Quality. ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ and ‘Lithium’ are the most well known from their second album. They’ve released quite a few albums since but sadly haven’t really maintained the mainstream appeal, so you don’t really hear about their new work.
Bring me to Life also popped up on the Daredevil soundtrack, and was used to promote that movie, which is why the video city draws comparison to Gotham City. Daredevil's always been a gritty crime-fighter type, who frequents a violent city night, etc etc. The song ended up being a bigger hit than the movie ever was. The song, and subsequent ones on the album 'Fallen' also drew comparisons to other bands of the type in that era such as 'Leave's Eyes', 'Within Temptation' and 'Lacuna Coil', all of which are worthy of your listen.
This song was, it's and will be an awesome master piece. The first time I heard it was in a video of dragon ball, Goku vs Broly, I was 13 years old may be 14.
Overthinking Overanalyzing..... Chill bro this is one of those songs where all that matters is Amy is hot af, sings like angel and the music jams pretty hard.
Another great early 2000s rock band that did a great "gothic/symphonic" take on the nu/alternative metal wave of the late 90s/early 2000s. Great time to be in middle school growing up with this stuff on the radio. Listened to this album dozens of times on my iPod.
I don't know if you have reacted to them before, but it would be interesting to see your reaction to Apocalyptica (a Finnish band, mainly consisting of cello players, their music also has metal/rock elements). They have also worked with Corey Taylor (I'm not Jesus) and Brent Smith of Shinedown (Not strong enough).
Yes! They are great. They also did a great song with Adam Gontier who was in Three Days Grace at the time and another one with Lacy Sturm from Flyleaf.
I would love to see you guys react to "Sweet Sacrifice" by Evanescence. Amy goes crazy with the high and long vocal runs. It is one of my favorites by them. Edit: I got to see them live recently and Amy and the band is just as great live as they are in the studio almost 20 years later.
A little back story. Windup records wanted them to hire a male rapper full time and be more like linkin park. Evanescence refused and actually ended discussions with them. As a compromise the label asked them to do one song with a guest male singer for their first single so they featured Paul McCoy from the 12 Stones on this song. Amy Lee actually hates this version of the song because it reminds her of all that bs they were put through because Ultimately the label didn't think a female led band would succeed. When they play it live, the male backup vocals are omitted. Song suggestion. The unplugged version of Korn's "Freak on a Leash" with Amy Lee
This was the case but actually had changed. She said somewhere that she grew to like the male vocals. She admitted she hated the male part out of spite because of the reasons you stated. Just can't remember where she said it. The last 2 times I saw them live within the last 5 years the guitarist actually sings the male part.
So many other songs you should check out by them… Sweet Sacrifice, Everybody’s Fool, Call Me When You Are Sober, Lost In Paradise. THIS SONG HERE IS OVERPLAYED TBH
I always argue that Any Lee has one of, if not THE, best voices across all genres! Plus she's a phenomenal pianist and harpist! I don't generally request any songs for you guys to react to but, I would suggest either (or both) "Broken" or "Call Me When You're Sober"! Of course the video is gonna look like Gotham City, they're a Goth Metal band! Thanks fellers! 🤘🏼💙🤘🏼
I'm pretty sure it has no bearing on a 'religious' aspect, however, my thoughts for this song always go to the movie The Never Ending Story... SO many things cross over into what happens in the movie. There's just so much that relates, I speculate she had just watched it and this song came out... I know it's not that way, but still, neat to think about.
fun fact this is the first music video i remember seeing on the good old MTV it was like 2 am and my father was drunk af and told me to go to sleep, the next song was the black eyed peas: where is the love. both songs have been a source of power to me.
The record company made the band put the rapper in this song cuz they wanted it on the Daredevil soundtrack and it was the cool thing to do at the time. so they basically said put some rap in or no record deal.
There were four singles off this album (Fallen), Bring Me Back to Life, Going Under, My Immortal, & Everybody’s Fool…the first three have gotten a lot of radio play over the last 19 years…but they have hits off of their later albums as well and are still making music…their most recent album came out in 2020…
Love Amy Lee and Evanescence! Please do: Going Under Call Me When You’re Sober Lithium My Immortal All classic Evanescence goodness. If you want goosebumps, Amy’s voice always delivers.
Loved this song and was addicted to the album. Played it to death when I first got it. Still a fan of the band now. I'm really new to your channel (love the channel!), but if you've not done so already, I would love to see you guys react to some Steel Panther. Song suggestions - If You Really, Really Love Me; Community Property; The Burden of Being Wonderful to name but a few. These guys are a legit proper band, but they specialise in parodying 80's hair metal music; think Spinal Tap and you've got a good idea of what they do. They are really good!
Amy Lee didn’t really want the make parts in the song, but the studio insisted. Later a more “original” vision version was recorded fir their album Synthesis.
The rapper in the chorus was forced on Amy by their label, because it was the early days of rap-rock/nu-metsl popularity. They did let the band hire the rapper of their choosing and write his lyrics, as well.
This wasn't the version of 'Bring me to Life' Amy wanted to do, but the record label insisted they add a male vocalist to the track. The guy they went with is the lead singer of...think the band is called 12 Stone or something like that. She's since released *her* version of this song, and it's more like a haunting ballad than a rock song. Also, it's insane how good her voice is. She literally hasn't lost a single step. Sounds as good now as she did back then. She also doesn't seem to have aged. I think Keith Richards might be aging for all these people.
Well, I have been one of the silent masses as I have watched and enjoyed your musical commentaries for quite some time. I am not sure if you have had the opportunity to react to either of these songs but I sincerely feel that they will completely alter the way you view blues/country and early outlaw country. I realize that these are not your typical genres but I do feel you would both welcome and enjoy these experiences. 1. Chris Stapleton LIVE at Austin City Limits with his wife singing Tennessee Whiskey 2. Johnny Cash singing A Boy Named Sue Both of these songs should be in EVERY person’s music catalog, in my opinion. Thanks for all you do and I wish you both a pleasant evening and safe days.
next up should be a song by the band seether called broken featuring amy lee the singer and then call me when your sober by evaanescence which is actually about shaun the singer of seether whom she used to date. also let me suggest a band from the netherlands, within temptation and their song and we run featuring xzibit. yes THAT xzibit. you will not be disappointed as hip hop heads
I believe Amy Lee didn't want to do the song with the guy. She just wanted her to sing it all on her own. But the producers and all them made her. And she prefers to sing this song in concert when it's just her. And I have seen her and Halestorm in concert and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.
This song was used for the Ben Affleck movie Daredevil. The rapper who was from the band 12 Stone was an idea from the label that the band initially rejected. The label was trying to turn them into Linkin Park so they walked away from their record deal, then eventually agreed to do just this one song with a rapper. He's not included on any of their others songs, this album sold 8 Million copies.
I love the contrast of feelings this clip brings. At first we got excited with the sound, with the story and at the end when she falls, comes the impact and we are paralyzed, trying to understand
1st time here. Some interesting takes/ideas on the meanings of the song & video. “Going Under” was meant to be their 1st single, “My Immortal” is the one that makes everyone cry (also for the Daredevil/Electra soundtrack) Amy is always compared to Floor and yes she was choir trained. Evanescence has put out multiple bangers and ballads with mind blowing music videos since 2003, latest album last year “The Bitter Truth”. Amy also does collabs like with Ice T/Body Count she did “When I’m Gone” More Evanescence reactions please!
The "creepy clown faces" is actually my favorite visual piece of the video, the girl has a smiling clown mask, and then she lifts it and you can see she's crying. In those two split seconds, so much is said, about how people wear happy masks to hide the pain from others, to the point where it's so unnatural it's almost clownish. It's too bad it often goes unnoticed, it's such a powerful metaphor.
If you like any lee who is the singer in evanescence. I recommend a song called broken which is by seether featuring Amy lee please check it out and hopefully you will go down a rabbit hole of seether
If I could react to your reaction to Fields of Innocence by Evanescence. I've grown up listening to everything they got and this one is one of my top favorites. It's super slow but worth a reaction.
Have you guys ever reacted to Alanis Morissette?... definitely check her out she used to have real hippy vibe and a killer voice... you should listen to Thank you. A real 90s vibe but a great message.
Cool! Great job, great song, guys. (BTW,...glad you mentioned two of Nightwish’s lead singers. This song has always given me chills, but Floor Jansen’s (official live) performance of “Ghost Love Score” is over the top for me. Just wow!)
Here are some Evanescence recommendations: Everybody's Fool Going Under Sweet Sacrifice Lithium What You Want My Heart Is Broken Imperfection Feeding The Dark Better Without You Blind Belief I hope you'll give all of these songs a shot and that you'll enjoy them!!! Also, the name of the lead singer is Amy Lee
Frankly, I'm not a big rap fan. I was scrolling along and decided to check you guys out reviewing a Slipknot song. I really enjoyed the energy you two exude when listing to a song. I am now a subscriber and have watched a number or your assessment and I will continue to .
Hey guys!! I would LOVE to see you react to an amazing British Stoner/Doom band called Vodun, specifically a song called "Mawu". They're heavy but have a soulful, beautifully voiced frontwoman and they make for a really unique and interesting band!! I think Vodun would blow your guys' mind!! Also, I'm a MASSIVE fan of The Prodigy and would like to recommend one of their earlier (and best) songs called "No Good (Start The Dance)" It's hailed as one of the best Prodigy songs and is a must-hear! Love your channel 💙
"bring me to the life" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 going under, call me when you're sober & what you want are all awesome evanescence songs 🎶🤘🎸🎶🤘🎸🎶🤘🎸 love you guys 💖💖💖 I'm not sure how the story goes, but Mike shinoda was asked to sing on this, surely somebody in yt land will know.
Love early evanescence. Amy Lee rightly gets attention for her astonishing voice. But, it's a crime that Ben Moody doesn't get similar attention for the music. He was as much, probably more, of the recipe for why the first album's songs sounded the way they did and is such a crusher. After he left the band, no piece of evanescence output recaptured the magic. It just sounds like an evanescence cover band now, because without Ben Moody it is not evanescence at all. He was their Lindsay Buckingham.
This song was written by Amy Lee when she was 19. The male vocal was never a part of the original song and doesn't belong there. She was told by her record company to include the male vocal to make the song more marketable. Her live performances without the male vocal is how the song was ment to be. When you actually listen to it you realise how little input to the song the male vocal has and it becomes pointless.
This song is as good without the video. But the song My Immortal you need to see the video and hear the song to see how Amy Lee interprets her song. These guys reviewed My Immortal with just the song and lyrics but the video is amazing and Amy looks like an angel and sounds like an angel
In case you didn't know, The rapper wasn't part of the band. The record label pushed for him to be added to the song. On a side note: I want to live in this building. Weird ass rave going on, fucking angelic singing Spider Girl scaling the fucking building. This is the place to be!
Amy was singing about a toxic relationship, and that she was "put to sleep" by it. Her soul was frozen in a cold dark place. yeah seems at the end she is trying to pull away and doesn't want to be pulled up because its a dream hence waking up
Felt this song was too overplayed in rock bars and things back in the early 00's but hearing it again after all these years I can appreciate it as a great song.

Amy Lee’s voice is haunting and beautiful at the same time, this song brings me back to early 2000’s. Great track and reaction guys!

So much nostalgia. I had a huge crush on Amy as a 5 year old kid, what did I know about crushes lol. This video made me so scared.

Still love this band and this song!
I still buy cds. No streaming.
Amy Lee is the most Beautiful hands down and that voice is the BEST !! Simply amazing in concert. She fkn rocks.
If I could react to your reaction to Fields of Innocence by Evanescence. I've grown up listening to everything they got and this one is one of my top favorites. It's super slow but worth a reaction.
Hail Queen Amy Lee❤️ Evanescence 🔥🔥 Also This Is The “Daredevil” Song 🎬
You guys have to check Lithium, seriously!!
The male singer is the front man for 12 Stones... Amy has a lot of duets with popular male artist. Check out Broken with Seether.
Have you guys ever reacted to Alanis Morissette?... definitely check her out she used to have real hippy vibe and a killer voice... you should listen to Thank you. A real 90s vibe but a great message.
Yes, they already reacted to, "You Outta Know."
If im not wrong, the male singer is the frontman from 12 Stones. Another good band. Try "Broken" from them or Far away.
I love Evanescence!

Aw man. I grew up on this song. Another really good song you should listen to by them is "going under"
You guys are great….love the respect you have.
Cool! Great job, great song, guys. (BTW,...glad you mentioned two of Nightwish’s lead singers. This song has always given me chills, but Floor Jansen’s (official live) performance of “Ghost Love Score” is over the top for me. Just wow!)
Here are some Evanescence recommendations:
Everybody's Fool
Going Under
Sweet Sacrifice
Lithium
What You Want
My Heart Is Broken
Imperfection
Feeding The Dark
Better Without You
Blind Belief
I hope you'll give all of these songs a shot and that you'll enjoy them!!!
Also, the name of the lead singer is Amy Lee
Another great song by them is Going Under.
Not Batman,but DAREDEVIL !

This is from the movie daredevil isn’t it?
I'm still waiting for you guys to do "Inhale" by Stone Sour and "Anna Molly" by Incubus! Please watch the videos!!!
This song is part of a soundtrack to the movie daredevil
In case you didn't know, The rapper wasn't part of the band. The record label pushed for him to be added to the song.
On a side note: I want to live in this building. Weird ass rave going on, fucking angelic singing Spider Girl scaling the fucking building. This is the place to be!
