This song is about Amy's relationship with Shawn (the lead singer) from Seether. Also, Amy's sisters sing the harmonies and backing vocals. What a talented family! 💗
In terms of comparison, when Evanescence was coming up their record label at the time wanted them to basically be a "Female Linkin Park", which I believe is why they have the rap verse in Bring Me To Life--if I recall correctly they originally didn't want that in the song. Over time the comparisons between the two bands became less common. This song is amazing though, and I'd probably recommend Everybody's Fool as my personal guilty pleasure of theirs. Great video guys~
Yeah their label pushed and pushed to get a rapper. It almost actually ended up have a feature from Mike Shinoda of linkin park. Amy kept fighting it, so they met in the middle, that's why the chorus isn't fully rap, it's more rock rap
Her music is incredible. One of the few artists that is as good if not better in person, the vibe at her concerts is incredible. The wife gives me the evil side eye anytime an Evanescence song comes on cause she knows the crush is strong.
Fun fact: This album was released 17 years ago, tomorrow. 10/3/2006 Also, I think you guys would enjoy their cover of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain". But my personal recommendation would be the Synthesis version of "Imaginary"
"In my field of paper flowers". Yeah, I really like that one! The entire Synthesis album is great. It's on heavy rotation in my place. I hope they do another one. There are so many more songs they could do. Songs like 'Going Under' or 'Call Me When You're Sober'! Or, songs from their latest album. Off of Synthesis, I really like 'End Of The Dream' and 'Never Go Back'. However, 'Hi-Lo' has got to be my favorite!
Please do "Broken" with Seether featuring Amy Lee. They used to date and their breakup songs are just amazing. This song was one of hers, he's got a few as well. But "Broken" is really an excellent song! It was played everywhere, so y'all might've heard it. Please react to it 🙏 I love you guys & your reactions make my day brighter. ✨️❤️🔥🤗
The intro of their latest album, The Bitter Truth, is just awesome. How it blends from the ethereal and electronic landscape of the first song and then slowly turning into the banger of the second is just pffff amazing!
I just listened to it yesterday and you are so right! The way the soft melody and her whispery vocals just seamlessly transitions into that BANGING beat! Wow! Most people will skip the intro on the CD to get to the song but, it definitely needs to be listened to together.
Oh my gosh! I just commented with those exact words! 😂 I didn't even really word it any differently. I said that she has the haunting voice of an angel! 🤘🏼💙🤘🏼
I always make sure I listen to Imaginary right after or it feels incomplete to me. I actually used to think it was all one song when I was younger because of the way it flows from "Torniquet" into "Imaginary" pretty much seemlessly and I always just heard tge two together, so now can't listen to one without the other lol...
The was about Amy Lee ex boyfriend Shaun Morgan who the singer and rhythm guitarist for the South African rock band Seether and he had a drinking problem because of his brother death and Amy Lee had enough and the song came in when Shaun was in rehab just if you guys want to know more about the song
As for the video, the vibe I always got from it was "I used to be Little Red Riding Hood, but now I'm the Witch of the Forest and don't have time for the Big Bad Wolf's (the male character) b.s." 🐺
Im a fan of Evanescence, but maybe other than their Fallen CD, they are more melodic hard rock than nu metal. I'd put them in the same vein as maybe Pretty Reckless and Halestorm, which if you haven't check out their stuff, you really should. I will also recommend an unplugged version of Freak on a Leash with Korn and Amy Lee.
I completely agree. Their first single “Bring Me to Life” is the only one that can be considered Nu Metal…the rest of their catalog doesn’t fall in the Nu Metal genre…
To be honest, the only way that song is considered nu metal was because they added the singer from 12 Stones to almost counter Amy Lee. Crazy enough, at the time, their record label were unsure that nu metal songs led by a woman lead singer would get radio airplay. They obviously proved everyone wrong.
I see a few people here recommending the unplugged collab with Korn. I agree. She, also, did an acoustical cover of Heart Shaped Box for a radio interview. I, highly, recommend it!
Them sitting far away is to symbolize how distant they’ve become in their relationship!! There is so much symbolism in all their videos. Ever heard of the band Seether? She dated the lead singer and that’s who this song is about…
When evanescence was in the process of being signed they tried making their band like Lincoln park that’s why they have one song bring me to life but they were so disappointed with that idea they almost didn’t sign the contract so the industry just settled for the one song with rap and the rest was all metal
Lifeway had Evanescence’s Fallen cd in stores for a few weeks when it 1st came because they thought they were a Christian band. Once the band stated they weren’t they pulled them from the shelves. At least they did here in NC
The former band leader Ben Moody was and Amy Lee has always been more of the faith than not... But she wasn't cool with pushing that on others and wanted to just be honest in the music, I'm glad she came into herown and he left!
Hollywood, the way you mention Amy being able to break a wine glass with her voice, I’m not sure about that, but you should definitely listen to the live version of Bring Me to Life from their live album, and listen to the stuff she does with her voice just before they break into the song. It’s out of this world. Guarantee you’ll get goosebumps.
If this was indeed 17 years ago... listening to her voice then to her duet ballad with lizzy hale, you can hear how her voice has matured and her control and range has increased and with more finesse
As much as I love Chester, comparing him to Amy is unfair to Amy. Where he's without a doubt the best singer in his specific genre and among the top rock vocalists of all time, Amy's range and particularly her versatility put her on the short list of best female vocalists ever, regardless of genre, while in rock the only comparable voices I can think of are Ann Wilson of Heart and Floor Jansen of Nightwish.
Amy Lee is definitely the quintessential female nu metal Lead vocalist trained in classical piano and as an opera singer.❤❤ As a suggestion for nu metal I'd say "What You Want" by Evanescence
Usually every morning I listen to having my music on amazon to wake up. But today for some reason I fell back asleep while listening to my Heavy metal music on amazon music.😂
If you like Amy Lee you need to hear her when she collabs with Lindsey Stirling in the song Love goes on and on. Lindsey Stirling also did a colab with Lzzy Hale in the song Shatter Me.
Yo brotato chips, I highly recommend you check out the classic UK hip hop tune “Bonkers” by Dizzee Rascal. That thickest bass line is guaranteed to blow the rooftop! Perhaps the most iconic UK hip hop track. Cheers!
Its a riff on the fairy tale of Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. However, Red Riding Hood in this particular case also turns out to be a witch. The guy is obviously a "prince" but acts like a wolf so she eventually turns him into a wolf to reflect how he is inside. Moral of the story is don't break the heart of a witch. The long table is just the kind of trapping one would expect in a castle / mansion and it was indeed common for the husband and wife to sit at opposite sides of the table during a certain period because it allowed both to see the guests at both ends of the table easier and engage them in conversation without possibly having to lean forward and talk across a guest.
This song is from a great album of theirs 2006 The Open Door. Here are some the songs from the album you should check out: Lithium, Sweet Sacrifice, Weight of the World, Like You, All That I'm Living For and Good Enough.
The video set was set in old Europe medieval times with long tables and the hosts would sit at either end of the table leaving the sides to the guests.
There’s an acoustic collab with Any Lee and Korn of Freak On A Leash that’s amazing. While your doing collars, Disturbed and Myles Kennedy live Sound of Silence in Houston is pretty stunning, as well.
Someone might have already said this but we almost got a linkin park evanescence song. When they decided “Bring me to life” should be a duet they originally asked the guy who does the rap part for linkin park but he turned it down which look back he regrets doing he said.
