The Sega CD game is an AMAZING port and is the best home version available on retro systems. It also had enhanced sound and voice acting as well as a great time attack mode all with very minimal to nonexistent loading screens. Sega did a fantastic job bringing this game to the system and this was a testament of what the Sega CD could do with sprites. So sad we never got a Sega CD ports (or any home ports) of the arcade games Captain Commando or Aliens or Alien VS Predator :(
lol The 68000 processor was the most important CPU of the 80's, in almost every arcade, 16 bit home computers, Sega Genesis/Megadrive, ATM's, etc That's why the Sharp Home Computer used it. In fact it's so important it's still used today in some vending machines and embedded systems etc
The graphics, colors and resolution are slightly better on the arcade, but the sounds, presentations and, mainly, the music in Sega CD improved by far and put this game in another level of fun and immersion, that is why this is the definitive version for me.
@@youtubesuresuckscock That would be maybe the best of both universes. But SEGA still had the time-attack-mode with the 3 extra-levels. I loved the bridge-level the most.
Damn. I knew the SegaCD version was good, but I didn't know it was THAT good til it was put side by side with the CPS1 version. Makes me sad we never got Streets of Rage 2 on the SegaCD.

Amazing job by Sega here. In an era where Arcade perfect ports were impossible, this version came close and in many ways was an upgrade over the original arcade game. The few things the arcade version did better were forgivable because it was just that close!
Basically, if you took an afternoon to play it in an arcade, then went straight home and played it on SEGA CD, you likely wouldn't notice a difference.
Cardboard Box look up "Final Fight CD Pyron's Color hack" on UA-cam. He made the colours MUCH closer to the arcade. I have a burnt and patched copy of the Japanese copy, and it looks surprisingly close to the arcade. Shame the original version didn't have better colour choice but oh well lol.
Well technically you would, Final fight Cd is still somewhat censored and limited. If you noticed the onscreen characters only had four enemies at a time, which is only one more over the SNES, Roxy and Poison are retained from the arcade, but are redrawn with longer skirts and the attack combo is slower when you use Guy and Cody. And last but not least you have the Arranged soundtrack that replaces the ADPCM audio from the CPS1 version, which is great by the way.
The Japanese Mega CD version actually retains the original Poison and Roxy designs. This is either a Euro version of the Mega CD that was altered or a Sega CD version. I have both and the Mega CD from Japan is the most authentic. I never really liked the CD animation and voices too much. One of them has her in a bra at the beginning and I think it may be the Japanese one as well.
Very impressive port on Sega CD. Great animation, wonderful soundtrack and cutscenes... Not bad even in straight comparsion with original arcade version.
Sega CD version is my favorite version of this game. Intro on it looks amazing, and although the colors are different, and less prominent, the Sega CD version has its own flair which I appreciate. Great port.
Arcade version for certain lil nuances. Like 10 enemies on screen, Faster overall game play and Sharper colors.. but SEGA Cd version for cutscenes music, new stages, time attack.. If I could blend both.. Awww Man.. Perfect game.
Now this is truly the reason to get a SEGA CD, the version of this game for it is absolutely amazing, for it's soundtrack, unfortunately the color palette is a bit limited compared to the original CPS 1, but the audio more than makes up for it.
Sega did an amazing job porting this game over considering the differences in hardware. One area where the Sega CD shined was the soundtrack. What a great port! One of the closest ever!
The CD quality audio is leagues beyond the arcade, they really outdid themselves here. It's a wonderful port that is so close in many regards and even exceeds in some cases.
cd version were for the rich, how many kids could afford cd versions or 3d0? it was when society changed we could afford more, i had to get older be in high school to afford a psx which i bought myself and had paid to get modded myself
CPS1 and Mega Drive had similar processors. Primary: Motorola 68000 Secondary: Zilog Z80 Sound chips: Yamaha YM2151 (cps1) Yamaha YM 2612 (Megadrive - a stripped down version of 2151).
Geez. Dunno why so many people complaining about the colors and the background. The most important thing is the gameplay wasn't compromised. Same amount of characters showing up on the screen. Nothing changed in the gameplay. You'd have the same experience whether you tossed a coin or played at home. With an even better sound track at home.
Wow...I forgotten how close the Sega CD port just was. I guess it makes sense as the Sega CD wasn't far off from Capcom's CPS1 arcade board this game originally ran on. While the CPS board had more RAM it's main 68K microprocessor was slower than the Sega CD's and it had a much weaker sound board as well. The only spot where Capcom's CPS-1 board beats the Sega CD is in the color department but then again that was the Genesis's main weak point.
Graphics, color and gameplay: CPS1 arcade version. Sound the Sega CD was an awesome remaster IMO. Blew away the crappy SNES version overall even though I enjoyed playing that one too.
Dominik Sobolewski This is only your opinion. Two completely different music mixes. I don't judge the quality of sound between games based on which one is more compressed. Use your ears on a quality system, and then state your informed opinion, especially when the songs are totally different. Don't go off of compression data, especially for older titles.
Even though music is good on CD based games the sound fx are usually stored in Ram instead of real-time off the disc. So the fx are never as clear as the music.
Final Fight CD: 11/10 Outstanding!!!
Amazing port It's impressive how good they replicate all the art and gameplay from the arcade without the assets from the arcade, is all made from the 0. Looks like they used VHS for reference during the art development that is why the colors looks a bit "color blindy".

It’s surprising how different the graphics are in both versions. The arcade obviously having the better detail and lighting. When I originally played the MegCD version, I thought it arcade perfect, seeing them side by side, I know better now, but it still plays a great game!
SEGA CD version of "Final Fight looks and plays nearly the same (a great thing). Arcade is softer lines and colors; Thanks for the #FinalFight memories! This VS, It's like acrylic VS. oil. Now I'm urged to play it. Again. A lot!
Cardboard Box There's more to it than that, look at every redrawn character icon during battle. The arcade actually has more saturated, vibrant palate, while the sega CD is less vibrant and has a teal hue overall that affects the entire picture.
Considering the cost of the Capcom board used, the Sega CD was a massive bargain. It is too bad most titles were merely Genesis ports and not a game like this that took advantage of the Sega CD's capable hardware.
Love that CD soundtrack on the Sega port, but I give this win to the original CPS1 Arcade version. I bought Final Fight CD for my Sega CD when it came out all those years ago. It's still fun to play the Bonus modes even now.

Maiti Dukku Minus tons of colours, redrawn sprites, not bad but not the same.. and no option for the original Arcade music, which was criminal, other than that.
leeboy2k1 i'd like to hear the fm synthesis instead of the rocking awesome soundtrack..hmmm good one. i think the soundtrack makes up for allot and really adds something.
Maiti Dukku 80% wich was awesome for that time. they worked the hardest to make the version high demanding and convincing, worked around the diffrent colour palletes etc and even utilized the sega cd it's strenghts. to me it doesn't actually even look lesser or uglier. perhaps a bit grainier.
Hoy.... Puedo dormir en paz. GRACIAS!!
Arcade version held up so well, being made in 1989, yet still wasn't matched for graphical quality on home systems, even in 1992/93!!!!! Talk about being ahead of its time!!!!!!
I own this for my Sega CD for a long time I thought this was a perfect port in fact because of the soundtrack playing this if you were to come home from the arcade after playing the original version you wouldn't notice much of a difference if anything Sega CD go to the better job with it, my only complaint with this damn game is I can hardly ever get past the industrial area no cheats, can't save your progress I've given up on playing it
Arcade Original has the better graphics people !!!!! BUT .. The Sega CD is by far one of my favorite versions, with amazing soundtrack , great gameplay and its so close o the Arcade version its crazy for the time : )
That's a great port, despite a few limitations: arcade has more sprites and they're better drawn, also has more enemies on screen at the same time and vibrant colors. In countermeasure, the cutscenes on Sega CD are awesome. Too bad it wasn't released in '91 or '92... Would've launched the console sales up the stratosphere.
The arcade vs Sega CD 1. Double the sprites on screen. Sega CD had maximum of 5 enemies. 2. 4096 colors vs 64 colors 3. Weak Soundtrack vs Arranged Soundtrack 4. Less slowdown then the Sega CD
The arcade hardware can display 4096 colors but that doesn’t mean the arcade version of the game uses all those colors . The arcade version probably displays hundreds of colors on screen . Still several times more colors than the sega CD version . The sega CD version probably display about 40-50 colors on screen .
The Mega CD is very close. Graphically you have to look very closely to spot the difference. Color palette is maybe the culprit, but the redraws which I’m guessing has something to do with the conversion process, just seem different on the most part. The glad being cracked differently is neither here or there. In the first level the main layer whatever difference there is it’s not really a quality downgrade for the mega CD. The City skyline you could argue. But at the time If I would have bought the game I wouldn’t have noticed those differences and would have probably told all my friend at school how it’s better than the arcade in minor details.
what amazes me with sega games is that, if people didn't knew or know better they might not think about colour limitations withing a sega genesis or sega cd.
A WORTHY PORT OF THE CLASSIC ARCADE HIT & FINALLY HAVING THE OPTION OF TWO PLAYERS BEING ABLE TO FIGHT TOGETHER VS THE SNES VERSION WHICH IS ONE PLAYER ONLY. DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE THIS GAME IN YOUR CLASSIC GAME COLLECTION FOR SURE👍😎
No blood from knife wounds in the Sega CD version...never noticed that before. Other than the music, I'd choose the arcade version as my go-to for maximum ass kicking.
When a friend bought Final Fight for his snes I was so jealous. When I finally got this game on my sega cd, I realized there was nothing to be jealous about. Final fight, while sure very pretty looking, felt boring when compared to SoR 1, 2 and 3.
Bart Dierickx bro SOR is just a rip off of the final fight arcade version which came many years before SOR. They couldn't bring final fight to Genesis/Mega Drive so they just decided to make their own. Final Fight gameplay is far superior than SOR. Especially SOR 1.
The Arcade definitely has more detail and color because it was a 32 bit graphics machine. The audio on the Sega CD surpassed the arcade though in terms of sound. I notice the sprites are more larger in the arcade and a lot richer than the Sega CD. Still, Sega CD did an amazing job. The arcade is a lot faster.
I think the Sega CD port of Final fight is actually very good(though I prefer the Japanese version since it doesn't censor anything from the Arcade release). I do have ONE complaint though: the arranged ost is SUPER dated, and is honestly kind of unfitting when compared to the gritty and threatening Arcade ost. I wish that they would've put in an option to switch between the two Osts.
The Mega CD should have been a go-to ground for exceptional arcade ports like these and super scalers that the Megadrive couldn't quite pull off. Instead it became a dumping ground for FMV interactive 'content'. So sad...
It was the Weak Color Palette that held back the visual appeal of the Genesis/Mega Drive. (sigh) I remember thinking that problem would be corrected when the Sega CD came out. But nope! Still the same ol' shitty colors. I guess it's just a technical impossibility to increase the sega Genesis Color palette. Fuck, even the 32X had shitty colors.
The 32X had the same color palette as the SNES, and could display them all at once. Most devs didn't push it at all, but Kolibri is a good example of it's enhanced palette.
ootwii this is just a rumor, and I haven't had time to test it for backing up my retail copy, but I've heard SegaCD games have no encryption and the games can be copied (as a backup of what you bought) in a pure 1:1 onto a blank CD-R disc.
WIN ARCADE. Sega CD What I did not like was the censorship. What I liked was the sound (it is understood that they are different times) I would like to create a hybrid adding to the arcade the audio of
CPS 1 has better graphical resolution while SEGACD has better sound. Graphicaly the CPS1 has better graphics, better color pallet and more color detail on screen. It might have a slightly better frame rate. Still regardless the SEGACD port kills. The entro was nice too with superior sound quality. Its pretty much equal. It just has a little bit less of everything. No game from the arcades came home close to it back in the days. It was entirely different version mimicking the game or it just didn't happen. That would be the NES. SEGA always had clout cause a lot of arcade games back then where SEGA. Golden axe, Alien storm, ect ect. Even then the games never came home perfect, but the attempt was fantastic. So seeing this one come sooo close was an amazing experience. Hell even the PLAYSTATION 1 & 2 where not able to bring home arcade perfect games. It wasn't till PS3 tech that an Arcade game could come home perfectly in graphics, sound and every detail. You gotta remember back in them days you had to play to play & these games were made deliberately hard, but for your money & time you got the best.
Colors better on Arcade . Sound on Sega CD , amazing ! More cut scene in Sega CD great , but voice acting is terribile...better on Japan version and also no censorship (blood and Poison/Roxy shorts). Sega CD version is the best port on 16bit platforms , my opinion.
Grafix go to Arcade. More colors and far more refined overall. Soundtrack goes to CD. But who cares. Sega did a lot with a little and it's still a great port from a time when arcade machines were still more powerful than home systems.

Hoy.... Puedo dormir en paz. GRACIAS!!
Arcade version held up so well, being made in 1989, yet still wasn't matched for graphical quality on home systems, even in 1992/93!!!!! Talk about being ahead of its time!!!!!!
Pretty much the rule for arcade & home systems in the 80's and 90's though.
it wasn't ahead of its time. it was just fucking expensive. 1 arcade machine for 1 fucking game, lol
Music on final fight CD IS Unique the best
The arcade vs Sega CD
1. Double the sprites on screen. Sega CD had maximum of 5 enemies.
2. 4096 colors vs 64 colors
3. Weak Soundtrack vs Arranged Soundtrack
4. Less slowdown then the Sega CD
You can play the arcade version in MAME with the Sega CD music if you want to.
Mega CD ver. looks a bit sharper and makes better use of color palette.
Arcade ver. has features more varied backgrounds.
Arcade é superior, mas o som do Sega cd é animal. A melhor coisa a fazer é jogar a versão hackeada no mame rodando o som do Sega cd.
In which way is the arranged OST 'dated'?
Superior no q?
the voice over kills me on the mega cd and i love it
Thanks anyone/everyone and the rest of the people. Who doesn't learn from them?
The Mega CD should have been a go-to ground for exceptional arcade ports like these and super scalers that the Megadrive couldn't quite pull off. Instead it became a dumping ground for FMV interactive 'content'. So sad...
Surprises me that the Mega CD version was quite heavily censored!!!!! Generally Sega weren't as big on censorship as Nintendo were!!!!
Sega Cd soundtrack on the Arcade
Wow, blows the SNES port out of the water
sega cd version is a version i luv to have...
ootwii this is just a rumor, and I haven't had time to test it for backing up my retail copy, but I've heard SegaCD games have no encryption and the games can be copied (as a backup of what you bought) in a pure 1:1 onto a blank CD-R disc.
I think this game even benefits from the higher contrast due the lack of colors in the Sega CD
The coin-op is slightly, softer in blending color's, giving it ice wash. SEGA CD is really more authentic. The trash leaves of plants are very
dificil demais escolher qual a melhor! as duas sao top!!
very good port, they made up for the losses. rocking soundtrack and a few more details. very giid port and true competitor for streets of rage.
So much better than the snes version and I'm a Nintendo fan boy....:(
ha, hard not to be with a game like this!
The graphics on the arcade is better however Sega did a good job on the soundtrack.
The Sega CD actually looks better than the arcade to me they did great on this port
wow the voice acting on the cd version ... lmao!!
WIN ARCADE.
Sega CD What I did not like was the censorship.
What I liked was the sound (it is understood that they are different times)
I would like to create a hybrid adding to the arcade the audio of
CPS 1 has better graphical resolution while SEGACD has better sound.
You can play the arcade version in MAME with the Sega CD music if you want to.
Can you compare the sega cd version with the pyron color hack to the arcade?
Colors better on Arcade . Sound on Sega CD , amazing ! More cut scene in Sega CD great , but voice acting is terribile...better on Japan version and also no censorship (blood and Poison/Roxy shorts). Sega CD version is the best port on 16bit platforms , my opinion.
You can play the arcade version in MAME with the Sega CD music if you want to.
Grafix go to Arcade. More colors and far more refined overall. Soundtrack goes to CD. But who cares. Sega did a lot with a little and it's still a great port from a time when arcade machines were still more powerful than home systems.
You can play the arcade version in MAME with the Sega CD music if you want to.
Saudade desse tipo de jogo
I had Streets of Rage for the Genesis. Therefore, I only bothered with Final Fight when I visited the Arcade.
Arcade: colors
Sega cd: audio
The Arcade got better colours and more buildings in the Backround.
call me crazy even though the snes version is missing stuff from the arcade i very much enjoy the game..
ootwii Agreed, it looks closer to the Arcade despite less sprites, and no 2P.
I enjoyed it when I was younger for sure.
Much similar.....but for the music......mega cd WINS........FLAWLESS VICTORY......FATALITY......
Great console SEGA CD. Awersome!
Arcade version is much better than other version. By the way, its the original's one version!
Great port on MegaCD. Music better on CD. Great game both 😊
You can play the arcade version in MAME with the Sega CD music if you want to.
