    The Snes really struggled when it came to trying to reproduce FM synth sounds and this is a good example of that, But when something was written for its sound chip it excelled.

    When the Super Nintendo had just come out, and this was on shelves shortly after it was a pretty incredible thing to be able to buy this and play it at home, and as far as the imperfections that didn't make it "arcade perfect" they were negligible at the time, it was just awesome to see Nintendo's new console flex it's muscle with a near arcade perfect port, although the original had both Cody, and Hagar n' Guy was missing. This game was one of those arcade games to grace the Super Nintendo along with U.N. Squadron that finally shut up all the Genesis fanboys that there console was the only one to bring arcade games home, then Street Fighter 2 just put them to bed lol

      @@droiduseruserdroid1731 If only ROM costs were NOT an issue way back then, these games really should've been on the Neo Geo.... The SNES was simply too slow and cannot handle these ports perfectly, and the Genesis (while much more capable) was not able to get Capcom's full support!

    Yes, the snes version is vastly inferior, but keep in mind that the differences in hardware were huge, and at the time having a game like Final Fight at home was awesome. As a kid you couldn't stay until really late at the arcades, sometimes it was far from your house, there was the rain, sometimes you had to leave your game if you had to use the restroom lol and many other inconveniences. Final Fight for the snes was a really fun game too.

      Very true. Most idiots bleat on about the lack of two player mode (there was one, it was just disabled) and no guy, but they have zero clue about the technical differences between a SNES and a CPS1- Board. 8Mb was the largest cartridge ROM available at the time so the couldn't fit any more in.
      Personally, I think it's a great port for the time.

    • @humansrants1694
      @humansrants1694 4 роки тому +2

      @Pete Green Snes worked best when running it's own custom games I guess they went cheap on the CPU to gain more GPU for the same cost.

    • @Syklonus
      @Syklonus 4 роки тому +2

      SFX chip was for 3D polygon maths only IIRC. I'm sure they could have put a regular Co-Processor in there though. The SNES CPU was painfully slow, so it really needed some help with big sprites. 12 Mb would have likely been plenty for storage space (the original FF had no graphics compression), and a bump up to 8Mhz instead of the usual 3.5Mhz would have likely suffice for speed and on screen sprites.

    • @mariowario5945
      @mariowario5945 3 роки тому +1

      @Pete Green snes cpu is more efficient than the 68000 and the snes cpu can even outperform megadrive cpu in certain aspects. The only reason games had slowdown was due to programming errors, or the game being released too early in the consoles life and run off of slowrom, which under clocks the CPU to 2mhz. It's basically on par with megadrive at 3mhz, since it's such a power efficient and excellently crafted 16 BIT cpu. The 8bit databus is not a bottleneck, devs need to learn to work around it, the system can do just as good as megadrive. Let's also not forget about hdma, we have 8 channels, while the megadrive has none, lol only a garbage one in its vdp, if that even counts ;)

    • @OtomoTenzi
      @OtomoTenzi 2 роки тому +2

      @Peter Green All the SNES really needed was a faster CPU and just a little more extra RAM... ROM carts can go as as big as they want (32/64/128/256 megs), but their costs would prolly go WAY UP!!!

    • @OtomoTenzi
      @OtomoTenzi 2 роки тому +2

      @@Syklonus I'd say the SNES should've at least had 12MHz clockspeed + 1MB of RAM just to be on the SAFE side... Cart sizes should've ranged anywhere from a minimum of 16 megs to 256 megs max. They should try to keep the game prices at about $80 to $120 each. I'd gladly save up all of my Xmas money and pay $450 for it back in '91 or '92, knowing that I would own a truly powerful 16-bit system that could handle almost ANY arcade port you can throw at it (CPS1/CPS2/CPS3/NeoGeo), plus makin' shure that it would last for at least a good 10+ years on the home game console market!

    People are so incredibly spoiled these days, and most of those spoiled people have zero idea of the technical differences between a SNES and a CPS1-Arcade board. The SNES was just too slow for this kind of game, but the fact that it manages this much is a miracle and should be praised. Final Fight Guy has loads of little technical improvements, like less slowdown, and some graphical tweaks that make it better than the original SNES game. They should have reactivated the two-player mode though.
    The ultimate version of the game is Rotwangs's ROM hack which has all three characters and the two player mode. It's un-optimised and rough, but it works.

    Arcade, but not by much, and maybe even a matter of taste. The arcade is brighter, character models seem to resolve more details, and plays faster. On the other hand I like the darker color scheme of Guy a bit more on the SNES, and the music hands down belongs to the SNES.

      @hababacon 8 років тому

      Marcel Weber I did say the arcade plays faster, and the characters are a bit more detail. I can see the animation downgrade as well, but didn't think it was a big deal to mention. As mentioned, the darker color art is a matter of taste which is why I think some people might like the SNES more. I like darker art work, and I know the SNES is not as good as the arcade from a technical aspect, but I like the color scheme, and sound effects on the SNES. Again, I agree the Arcade is the superior of the two overall technically, but it's too bright for my likings.

    If you guys take into account and consideration what an actual arcade cabinet of that game would've cost, then you'll easily understand why a mere $200 SNES console could NEVER replace it... That's what the Neo Geo was for; you had to pay the 'premium' for 100% arcade-accurate, direct ports. But suppose if a #1 arcade smash like Final Fight was released on a AES cart for gamers to play it at home, you can expect to pay at least well over $200+ for it. Certainly, the SNES was fully capable of handling a MUCH better (if not arcade-perfect) port of Final Fight, but I don't the the arcade operators at the time would completely agree with that tho!

    Parece que a CPU não aguentava a alta carga de animações , o que acarretava em slowdowns por quase 100% do tempo de jogo .
    Final Fight 2 e 3 de dois era uma tristeza . A Capcom tinha problemas mesmo com o hardware do SNES visto que quase todos os games dela no 16 bit da Nintendo sofria do mesmo problema .

      Simplesmente porque o hardware do SNES era fraco. Ainda que existissem outros beat' em up para 2 jogadores, o Final Fight era um jogo rápido que brotava vários inimigos ao mesmo tempo na tela, cada um com um tipo de característica (Axl e Slash que podem se defender, Hollywood e El Gado que carregam armas, Andores que são mais resistentes...). Com várias coisas acontecendo ao mesmo tempo, o SNES não rodaria esse jogo acima dos 10 fps.

    Quando o SNES chegou, já trouxe Final Fight como diferencial. Só hoje percebo que a conversão do Arcade deixa um pouco a desejar, a julgar pelo milagre de otimização que conseguiram com Street Fighter 2.. Final Fight, com os sprites grandes que os jogos do Genesis não tinham, parecia um Neo Geo aos meus olhos na época, pelo menos um que podíamos comprar. Bons tempos! Os jogos 3D, simplesmente, não possuem essa magia. Não é saudosismo. A pegada é outra e o fator arte e o fator diversão hoje estão em segundo plano. O que importa é vender Dlcs e se limitar ao banal jogo em grupo, sem objetivo que não seja atirar sem rumo. Bons tempos!

    A CAPCOM sólo le faltó aprender a explotar más el SNES, fue uno de sus primeros juegos de lanzamiento y estoy seguro que pudo haber hecho algo mejor, ya que existe un ROM de SNES el cual puedes elegir a los 3 personajes y estoy seguro que podrían haberlos hecho correr juntos en modo cooperativo, sólo que CAPCOM iba apenas familiarizando con la SNES en aquellos años.

      Arcade version is better for sure. I remember playing it in the arcade as a kid, and this was the first game I owned on SNES with Super Mario. Arcade was still better :) and oddly different. SNES true potential wasn't realized yet., but even then I still think arcade would be better.

    • @OtomoTenzi
      @OtomoTenzi 2 роки тому +2

      @@ShutoStriker If you take into account and consideration what an actual arcade cabinet of that game would've cost, then you'll easily understand why a $200 SNES console could NEVER replace it... That's what the Neo Geo was for; you had to pay the 'premium' for 100% arcade-accurate direct ports. But suppose if Final Fight was ever released on a AES cart for gamers to play it at home, you can expect to pay at least well over $200+ for it. Certainly, the SNES was fully capable of handling a much better (if not arcade-perfect) port of Final Fight, but I don't the the arcade operators at the time would completely agree with that tho!

    Não colocaram o Guy na primeira versão e neste não colocaram o Cody... Para ver como os tempos eram diferentes... Se fosse hoje isto de lançar duas versões do mesmo jogo cada qual com um protagonista diferente e faltando o outro, daria muita confusão e RAGE... kkkkk Eu ate poderia dizer que não se dava para jogar de dois por conta do hardware lento do SNES, mas aí me lembro de Final Fight 2 e 3 (além de alguns jogos Beat Up que se dava para jogar de dois no SNES), Capcom malandra deis desta época... kkkkk Street of Fighter 2 que o diga (mas este é diferente porque cada versão de ST tinha melhorias, mas no caso do Final Fight é outra historia)... Melhor mesmo é a versão de Mega CD (Sega CD) e também do computador X68000. Marota aproveita e faz uma comparação da versão de Mega CD com a versão do computador X68000 , seria bacana ter uma comparação deste dois grandes portes de Final Fight!

    siempre hablan que la versión de sega cd es mejor. no lo niego. pero salió mucho después de la version de snes. la musica del de sega cd es cd wav no midi y obviamente esta el juego completo ya q es en cd rom. pero técnicamente la versión de snes es superior por que no necesita ayuda de ningún add on para correr el juego. el sound chip de la snes esta a años luz que el de sega y su midi se acerca mucho a la version de arcade. En los colores también en el sega cd se nota mucho la falta de colores de los sprites y los escenarios. las 2 son buenas pero yo le doy mi punto a la version de snes por que salio mucho antes y por que no necesita ningún add on para poder jugarlo y es muy similar a la arcade en música y gráficos. @@alexheller4003 The SNES version was considered ALOT easier because of a several very noticeable differences... More lives selectable from the hidden options menu, more energy restored from food, more damage from all of your attacks (due to shorter life bars), less stages, and less enemies on the screen. I do believe that there was also a 1up and health restore cheat with the dog located in the Bay Area stage? The arcade version had alot more breakable barrels and food/items/weapons to collect; but then again there were ALOT more enemies attacking you every step of the way, and the enemy AI was also pretty cheap if the arcade operator set it on the HARDEST difficulty. And plus, you played at the comfort of your own home, so there was NO pressure and stress (from not standing up to play). Also, there were Game Genie or Action Replay cheat devices available out there to help you beat the game in case you really sucked at it!
