Final Fight MD shows how capable the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis was as a console. The visuals looked stunning especially the colors. The basement stage had a lot of details in the background. Also the lights flickering on and off was a nice touch. The moment where the Mega Drive Demo blew away the SNES version was in the Subway. Their were 5 character sprites, a Telephone booth prop, and a lead pipe prop all on screen while the train was coming to a stop with little slowdown. The SNES looks bland in comparison.
The Sega Mega Drive is my fav 16bit console, but the official SNES port was rough and rushed.
A labor of love v a rush job for sales isn't really a fair comparison.
Unfortunately, all these comparisons are pretty much redundant. Remember that the original SNES developers had a tight deadline and an 8 Meg cart to work with (plus a much slower CPU). The Megadrive version, on the other hand, had tons of time, and I also wonder how big the cart size is, it looks like a 32 Meg cart or something. So all these people who say that the Megadrive is capable of doing an arcade perfect conversion don't know what they're talking about.
That's because Sega was paying companies to make sure the games look and run poorly

Thanks a lot for the video! Your editing and synchronization of every moment of the levels of both games makes the comparison much more enjoyable to watch, as always.
GRACIAS!!! 💪🏼🎉🎊👏🏽🔥🔥
Sega were ARCADE Kings and showcasing their megadrive in the modern day with these amazing ports shows how well sega designed their consoles to bring the arcade home
Megadrive version is very close to arcade, better than Mega CD ver. but no surprise at all, Final Fight CD was a Megadrive game with CD quality music and no rom memory limit so a version like this was possible in the 90's.
MD is less grainy than the Sega cd dunce it's using DMA from the VDP unlike the sega cd version.
This demo kind of shows how capable the Mega Drive was given enough time to polish up the port making the 32X even more of a joke. The thing with arcade ports at the time was that they were made cheap and rushed out the door often times unfinished. The MK1 port for example seems unfinished on Sega. If they used larger cart and spent enough time on it, it coupd have been much closer to the arcade.
The SNES port of Final Fight sucked at release and it's not worth to play today. The lack of two player option kills it.
2 Player Actually Is In The Game... Secretly
I always thought that the snes port was really good. But this megadrive it's incredible compared to this one. Graphics, animations, gameplay and even sound. A lot of passion putted on this port.
The MD version is still in WIP and it destroys the SNES version.
And to have a potential of the power of the MD, go see Fatal Fury Real Bout Special.
Yeah and this has one active developer currently, no source code working from scratch with opensource and hacked tools compared to Capcom/Nintendo with their full list of developers/resources and money, development kits and access to full arcade source code. I think Capcom did what they could lol.
@@somemadcaaant Nah, Konami did what they could with Turtles in Time. Capcom never did.
@@somemadcaaant Definitely impressive. The Genesis is a sprite pushing monster with high resolution graphics and a much better and flexible sprite engine. Can't wait for the finished product. SNES just wasn't built for game likes this and it shows.
@@chrisw8069 Then how you explain Turtles in Time? Genesis is not capable to run it
@@josemarques131not this again. It definitely could…not an especially impressive game from a technical perspective
This is amazing. Incredible I wish I had my Sega Genesis.
They are super cheap. Pick one up and a Mega Everdrive Pro.
I don't really have a dog in this fight. For me the SegaCD was good enuff for Final Fight. I mean SoR 2 is the king of 16 bit console brawlers for a reason.
Still, it's kinda sad that with all the nice tools and knowledge, most of the modern devs don't bother pushing past the Genesis/MD color pallette. Highlite and shadow mode is a HARDWARE feature...and there is always DMA'ing to Cram.
Agora Sim!
8:18 Sorry! SNES no match MD's Motorola 68000 and CPS1, More physics, details, enemies, resolution, etc.
I dont think so. Genesis is not even capable to run a Turtles in Time
Exactly. Genesis Does. SNES just isn't built for these type of games. There is a reason besides it's Japan dominance why it's library is mostly RPGs.
Even a quick port of TMNT TIT turned out as the better playing game. More animation, The turtles sprites look noticeably better as well. The dedicated run button means it justs plays better and faster.
@@chrisw8069 "Hyperstone Heist is better than the hugest Konami arcade hit" Hahaha 😂

Segaaaa Mega Drive detonou! A fase dentro do metrô humilhou o Snes 🤣
Despite the censorship, missing a character and other issues, Final Fight did so well on the SNES that it got two console exclusive sequels.
So while it's easy to pick the game apart now, back then people weren't as up in arms about the changes made to it.
I rented it at the time and when i found out there was no 2 player option i was so annoyed i went back and returned it.
The censorship was only on the american version. And the missing character, less sprites on screen and other issues were a decision from Capcom. SNES could handle a final fight better than Genesis.
@@josemarques131 lol yeah right, they must have thought "let's make this as bad as we can" then because it sucks.
Apart from colors, it would be the same thing on both systems.
@@bizarroeddie1 They didn't think anything. Capcom was just lazy. Compare with SNES beatmups from Taito, Banpresto, Konami etc

This is such a fantastic Genesis port. The developers are now finally at the point where they’ve completed the 3rd stage. It would be great to see a comparison when the final game is completed on the Genesis.
Megadrive for Graphic and two player mode.
Snes for tre timing of the combo and the collisions.
Excelente! :) Blastprocess does
Here we can see the advantages of Nintendo's color-palette. That's why Nintendo's games look always better.
Both versions look and sound great. While imo the Mega Drive is the better version, it is a demo that was released in 2022; so it does have a massive leg up.
The Megadrive version is a piece of Art. It also shows how much potential the 16 bits consoles could have if ROM card size wasn’t a problem back in the days… the SNES version could have been made into a 64MB cartridge and would have been arcade perfect too !
Wonder if anyone will claim the SNES still looks better or not?! Genesis does. 1st post!
Nahhh the megadrive still suffers from its clear lack of supporting many colors on screen. It looks grainy and haggar's skin looks more flat on MD.
Just look at around 5:09 at the junk car in the background, and how they didnt even try giving it in depth coloring. It looks closer to the boxes that surround it on MD than on snes where each car and boxes have their own distinct color and shading which makes it pop more. Some wooden boxes also have more detailed pixel art on snes instead of having them all look flat and smooth like on MD. Also the broken blue car is more in view on snes instead of being half cut off in megadrive.
SNES still looks better. Megadrive puts more enemies on screen and in lots of respects its better and closer to the arcade. Enemy behaviour still needs some work. They do not get up from the ground with the same timing as SNES/arcade.

When I run the Genesis version on actual hardware, there is a ton of slowdown anytime when 4 enemies appear on screen with distructables (barrels, crates, etc). Or if it's a large sprite like Damnd and other enemies are out. Also on stage two with the subway when its actually moving slowdown city. I'm sure when it's final, this will be fixed.

One thing I liked better with snes was the sound. Sounds better more bass. I know the MD sounds closer to the arcade and has the 3 characters though. I felt like with FF the Sega version had the advantage and was super close to the arcade version much like with TMNT TIT the SNES was the superior version port of that game nearly perfect. SNES got exclusive FF2 and FF3 though which were better than FF gameplay wise.
Something that nobody mention is that the SNES version uses positional stereo sound effects. That is, every time you punch or kick a goon, the sfx will pan, depending on his/her position on the screen; from left, center, right and in between.😲pretty amazing for its time.

Então como explicar Turtles in Time?
When released a physical edition?
Está versão do mega ficou muito boa.
This is hardly a fair comparison. How so? Ok, well lets also release the same game on the Super Famicom/SNES nearly 34 years later and on a higher Meg cartridge (32 Meg for example). See how they compare then. The Super Famicom version was a complete rush job restricted to an 8 Meg cartridge.
Im surprised I haven't seen any hacks for the snes game to fix
Really everything with it
People have been trying to fix it over the years and even tried to restore the missing stages. but without access to extra chips to support the game it's been hard to work in the snes hardware limitations.
There is a 2 player hack done by other fellow Brazilians.😘but is incomplete and limited by the original SNES Final Fight engine wich creates a lot of dissapearing sprites when more characters are displayed. Final Fight 2 also has a hack that adds more enemies on screen and even turn the bosses into regular enemies, bumping up the difficulty.😱.
Final Fight 2´s game engine seems to be more flexible than the first one.
@@HellTantrumbull SNES doesn't have hardware limitations. The problem was Capcom programming. Mega Drive has more hardwares limitations than SNES.
A demo for mega drive?
Yes

Megadrive has better sprites in many more games on snes
A versão do mega deixou no chinelo a do super Nintendo.......
