If you put a halter on her and then give her the bottle she’ll begin to associate the halter with something good.
I like big mixing cup poor's in the bottle so much easier less messy
I'm 74 - I've seen baby birds, Robins, Blue Jays, baby Sparrows - but until today I've never seen a baby Pigeon. Neat! Thank you!
Yes, isn’t that odd? We never see baby pigeons in the city with adult pigeons. I would almost feel that they dont exist!!😉

Just a suggestion while Mildred is a baby put a halter on her and teach her how to lead❤️ she’s adorable! So excited for MC and her new baby pigeon! Have a blessed day!
Yes they need to get her haltter broken young it so much easier for her and you.
Early introduction of the halter & lead to Mildred works same as dogs. Most of us know dogs better than calves but the principle’s the same. Patience will be needed

Good day from Ontario Yes had many bottle calves, done it for veal calves, Yes halter lead her , especially if u are going to keep her for a cow.

agreed. start her soon - within a week of her getting accustomed to her new surroundings...it'll make things so much simpler for ya'll in the long run. also treat her like a show cow....have her on a halter with a rope and tie her up - for a small frame of time - 10 minutes maybe then gradually increase it to an hour as she gets old - this makes them very docile and if a vet needs to treat her in the future for anything - she will not be a nightmare for the vet to handle...but also you can lead her around and control her better. she will be a strong animal like MooMan and you don't want a crazy and unmanageable animal when you need them to cooperate - lol. she is gorgeous. also brush her and touch her every day and handle her. She will be like Miracle - from Ima Survivor! hahahaha.

I want to tell ya'll how much I enjoy your videos. I am 72 y.o. and in a nursing home and your videos are a highlight of my day. I dont know how Mary Carl can remember all those birds name. My granddad had 160 acre farm and he had cows on it, I miss seeing them. Watching you all on your farm makes me want to come help you all feed the babies & animals. I have bucked hay before but it's been many years ago. I know having a farm is hard work but it is so rewarding to see all the animals being took care. You are all so loving towards the animals.

Y’all have to be commended for your preparation of the bottle. I sit here with a smile on my face at all the times I just put everything in the bottle at once. Then walking to the barn I am shaking the bottle all the way.

Just a suggestion for yall, when you fence in that back pasture, add a lane at the back of all your paddocks with gates to all. That would allow you to move animals around without the trailer or letting them loose. It could also act as a driveway to the barn or be used to move animals to the barn. When not in use you could just leave the gates on the ends open.
Calf slobberins are the best. Grandma used to tell us that's what she used on top of pies instead of meringue. Lol We would always request extra calf slobberins on our pie please. Lol. Congratulations Mary Carl on her pigeon baby 🐥. Have a blessed day y'all.

Good morning! Don’t waist the extra dishes. I fed calves for years. Here’s how I did it. Put in the water, add the powder, now shake it, but first make sure you clamp the nipple with your fingers or you will have a mess. Now if you need a little water, you can add it.
I fed up 25 - 30 calves to feed, that’s when you mix it in a 5 gallon pail. You will have to train him to a pail soon though, this will get him ready to drink out of a water tank. Have fun with her, she sure is cute!!

I wonder if maybe y’all should introduce Mildred to Moody and let them be together for a little bit while y’all are working out around the animal pens do you can keto an eye out on them ! That way they can get use to each other and since Mildred was with other cows in the pasture she might feel safer and more comfortable being around another cow than the goats and she might trust y’all more seeing that Moody loves all over y’all so freely ! It’s just a thought I had , but y’all are there with her everyday and know what’s best for her ! She’s so precious and I just want her to feel the love y’all so much want to share with her as soon as possible ! She’s had 3 homes in such a short amount of time it’s just natural she’s reluctant to shy away , she’s just a baby and to have been through so much already it hurts my heart for her!! I know y’all are the best home she could ever have and she will know it too soon !! Love y’all ❤️🙏🙋🏻

With your hay feeders, if you rig a skid out of 4x4's or 2x4's, it will keep the ends of the legs from rusting away. Look for a pipe mount that the legs can slip down into and cross-pin them with long carriage bolt and nut. Plus, it will weigh them down some, so the goats won't knock them over as easily.

I hope she’ll be more loving soon, she’s already had a rough life - you being the third human to care for her already - she has to have trust issues - mom rejected and then two humans (her view point). Can’t imagine why Mildred’s momma wouldn’t want her, she seems like a sweetheart! And another milestone - a new pigeon. Things are really happening at the Coghill 40!
In a farm, it is not a matter of what or unwanted; it is a matter of time and a working farm does not have the time and usually various small farms and rescues can take these “unwanted” animals. Cows sometime die during birthing, and usually no happy ending for the calf.
