I've never been. I need to remedy that...and get an ORourke Fig.
Based on her recent performances, I suggest you promote Tucker to the position of Cog Hill 40 Social Chair and Director of Happiness.
😊😁❤️
Ha! Very creative title.
I was thinking Tucker could be "Ambassador, Cog Hill 40". Her personality reminds me of Shirley Temple. Always loving and cheerful.
@@CogHillFarm Speaking of fruit ( or Nut trees) Jason have you considered putting in some ' nut ' trees ' like pecans? Could be planted away from the house on one of your tree lines so not to take up space and since they will get quite big. With enough trees there would be plenty to sell as a cash crop (down the road)with your flowers. Low maintenance I would assume. And great as gifts to family and friends this time of year.
that dude at the nursery, man. if you can find a local one of those (in whatever field/industry), they're absolute gold.
Absolutely incredible!!!
I love the way Jason talks to all of the animals and birds, he's the "Alabama Doolittle". I convince myself that they all understand him too. 👍
I wish someone like that man would help me plant up my fruit garden so bad. He's absolutely incredibly helpful and eager to teach people who wants to learn.
Maybe you could take his classes. Let him know where you live. How exciting to learn and plant then.
Wes
@@evalinawarne1337 Yeah, It would be nice. I happen to be living in Sweden. Are the classes online?
@@rogergiberson6390 Wes? (:
I like how pumped he is about the trees he’s selling. Bless his heart…that Auburn hat.

Love to see your daughters interaction with gaining knowledge, she is going to have a blessed life.
I just love a man who knows his fruit trees, much respect.
Love how Jason is so passionate when he speaks. He makes me want to go and plant some fruit trees
Me to. LOL!
Just have to make sure you have cross pollinators for your fruit trees. The first time I planted apples I just went to Lowe's and picked out a couple of trees so I hardly get any apples. On our new property I did a lot of research and got the varieties that work well with our climate, basically the same as yours.
We have pomegranate, several apples, several pears, peaches, persimmons, and figs that we planted last winter. All are doing well.
We have 60 muscadine vines here.
Raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries all over the place.
I have planted a lot of chestnut and oak trees for wildlife.
It's a joy to deal with all the things on the farm instead of all the things in the office.
Sounds gorgeous!
Loved the nursery. He was so knowledgeable and interesting. He loves his fruit trees for sure. Hugs ❤️
This Channel has helped me get through my sophomore year in College & now that I’m a Junior entering my Senior year in College & to look forward to a video a few days out the week really warms my heart 🥰🥰
I can hear the excitement in your voices it makes me so excited for you! You got a good variety of different fruit trees, I love it when they bloom, they are so pretty. I am always amazed at how smart MaryCarl is, she asks really intelligent questions and shows how interested she is about farming at such a young age.
Moodys weight is looking so much better already. Jo looks like his Minnie me... 🤣
That nursery looks terrific. I can only wish that our local major plant nursery were as supportive, not to suggest they do not give excellent support, but its more a case of how much can they sell you, than ensuring that you get the best for your situation.
The person you were speaking with, sounds to have his life totally invested in the plants at the nursery. For him, those plants are as much his children as any part of his family. Dedicated to best health and sure seems to know his plants in detail, and for you seems convinced that you are worthy of his best. Not some random owner who probably kills most plants they try to plant at home. You have great support offered too, unless I have misunderstood him, he actually offered to come and assist you with the early pruning needs of these trees after planting in your farm.
Congratulations on lifting your dream off the ground. Don't forget to put markers in the ground of each tree. So you don't mix them up.🤲 I pray each plant blooms with tons of delicious fruits. 😋 G-D Bless.
I bought a Sharpie oil-based paint pen in the fabric/craft dept of Walmart that will mark on woody plants to label some cutting I made and so far they are staying on very well. Painted on the trunk, you can't misplace the marker!
@@gelwood99 I didn't know their was such a thing made. 😳 Great find.
I love this gentleman's enthusiasm. He's really vested in getting you your best fruits. What a blessing!
A fold -up table would be sufficient until you got your watering station. You could have some at several locations. Or a free wire spool or two would do, too! ❤❤❤
Or even a couple of those wooden spools put by the water spigets would work too.
I have Peggy Martin, Katrina rose, from Petals from the Past. Our Master Gardener group from Tennessee visited once. Jason is excellent speaker. Highly regarded nursery by plant nerds.
I just absolutely love how you both talk to your animals, that's love!
I can see the second or third freezer dyer being bought in a year or two to keep pace with the amount of fruit being harvested..... Okay MC you operate the freezer dyer and Jason picks the fruit and Brooke cuts them up.... Moody, the OX, you pull the gorilla wagon back forth from Orchard to the Kitchen Door..... Peaches, the farm boss, you supervise, Nugget the Sheriff, make sure no one steals any or eats any extra........ Oh My!!!! Oh Me!!!! What a operation!!!! Soooo Much Fruit To Freeze Dry!!!! Thanks Petals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was great on video!!!!!
Get some magnets to put on the back of the license plates..they will stick on anything metal and they won't leave a hole.
Great idea 💡
That Jason, with the nursery, is a huge help! He makes it so much easier to begin with a plan! Can't wait to see them in bloom!
And some will have fruit this next season
I love a nursery man who knows his stuff and loves to talk shop, lol Congrats on the new items for your orchard! We know Jason is excited but MaryCarl is excited about her kiwi 🥝
What an absolutely wonderful man so full of knowledge and that sweet southern charm. So happy you have such an incredible place to get your plants. Once again so blessed. Just lived this video! Excited for you 🌱🌿🍎🥝🍐
I love love love 💗 this video.
So awesome to see people talking with such amount of love, knowledge, enthusiasm and passion about what they do for ‘work’ ( I think they don’t see it as work work it’s their labour of love )
This video was vibrant all over, thank you for putting this out, my heart was in a happy place and I could watch and listen forever …. it kept the biggest smile 😊 on my face.
You’re and the other Jason are such lovely and genuine people. ❤️❤️❤️
You couldn't have posted at a better time... Your videos occupies my mind and with the recent passing of my father I really needed this distraction. His services are supposed to be on the 16th, but don't want to think what's going to happen if we can't come up with the rest of the money for his services😢💔 Again...the exact reason I needed this video🙏 Love this channel. God bless❤
I’m so sorry for your loss. 💗
So sorry for your loss. Sending prayers to you and yours❤️🙏
Gonna take so long until all the trees produce lots but it’s so cool that we are included in your journey!!! Thank you so much for making me feel good and smile with your family Jason. Your Canadian fan Sam 😀🇨🇦🦫
I live in Georgia and now I'm going to visit Alabama to talk to these people at Petals from the Past. I've been looking for someone with the knowledge like theirs of growing fruit trees for a while. Thanks for the info, love you guys!
Fruit trees are expensive and it’s nice to have people know their stuff.
Blessings, 😊💕🙏🏻🇨🇦
To see that man get that excited talking about fruit trees and plants there is no doubt in my mind he knows what he is talking about! So excited for yall getting some fruit trees in the ground!
Wow! Thank you for filming there, I was blown away at his knowledge and being so willing to explain how to plant and care for everything!! I can't wait to see it all bloomed and producing!!
Possible suggestions for your trellises...cattle panels bent over into an arch. T-Post on the outside of them to support them. It would look beautiful as they fill out and you walk under/through them.❤??? Like a pathway through your orchard???
^^^THIS^^^
Cracks me up to hear Jason say musKEYdine. Grew up in SC. My dad grew muscadines. Lots of folks say it Jason's way.
Same way we say it in NC! 😁
@@pamelaremme38 ..... OR how he turns OIL (BASICALLY a 2 syllable word) into a ONE syllable word.... "OL"..... LOL! ;-)
@@pamelaremme38 .... Oh, I totally get it.... and yeah, I'm right there with ya on the whole COKE vs. soda.... you're absolutely right! ;-)
What a gift to be included in trip to Petals From The Past!
Your Orchard is going to be beautiful & fruitful, I'm looking forward to seeing all that fruit hanging on the trees and headed for your freeze dryer!
What a special property you are developing,
thank you for sharing all of this!!
Oh my goodness I could listen to that fruit tree man all day long…what a knowledgeable person and soooo interesting. What gem to have on your doorstep. 🥰🥰
Oh I love this video. You are lucky you can plant now. We have snow on the ground here and it looks beautiful. We could plant fruit trees here in Sept/ October. Apples are a big crop here.
I am so happy for you. What an exciting time in your life now. Hugs to all.
Evelyn,. That is my name to. We just got another snow last night one inch only. S.E.Michigan.
We get a lot of Apple's 🍎 too and Hy's Apple cider. The Best kind.
@@evalinawarne1337 I'm in SE Michigan too. I'm not a fan of our winters, especially the icy roads that came with that snow we had. There were more people in the cornfields than on the road! 😆 It'd be nice if they salted them really early in the morning like they use to.
Dang. Brooke's smile was ear to ear. So happy for y'all. ❤
Good morning! I lost all but 5 chickens in a coop fire last night, very sad morning in Weptumpka. I really wanted to ask you guys to maybe bring up awareness on your channel. I love my chickens but unfortunately I made a horrible decision, thinking I was doing what's best for them. I now realize that I was making a huge mistake. Heat lamps are dangerous!!
So sorry about your chickens 😔
Oh no I’m so sorry!!
Thanks you guys! Rough clean up this morning. But thankfully 5 were saved and fighting for their little lives.
Cog Squad Reporting ….. 🙌🥰🇨🇦
How about name your Critter Habitat: COG HILL VILLA and name your surrounding animal dwellings the way each of you desire. Ex. Mary Carl’s Purple Pigeon Palace.
The guy at the nursery knows his business about plants
Your incredible Nursery friend who operates PETALS FROM THE PAST deserves to promote his family business with You Tube/video exposure cuz his enthusiasm for plant biology is amazing! His energy, knowledge & passion should be shared. I know his customer base and fans would greatly increase.
I can almost predict a future partnership with Petals from the Past when your Flower Farm takes off next year. You, Brooke & Mary Carl are inspirational for us as we get to participate as you three are following your INTUITIONS ABOUT YOUR FUTURE. 💕
Woohoo, Starting Your Orchard Farm, So Excited, They Will Be Growing Before You Know It, Great Video Jason & Brooke!
What an absolute fountain of knowledge that gentleman is. How wonderful to have him
close by to learn from.
Jason I could tell in your voice that you were very excited about your trees! You could tell your tree supplier was as equally excited! AWSOME!
I love Petals from the Past..I have been to several classes there and you are correct an awesome group of people. Love y'all.
I get such a joy from the way MaryCarl reacts in such enthusiastic and intellectual way! She is such a wise girl!
I learned so much about fruit tree set-up. No wonder I have failed in other attempts. Thanks for sharing the tree expert and his knowledge.
Anna and Pink Lady apples have done very well here in the mild winters and extreme heat of 9b central california. Both are wonderful tasting. Santa Rosa plum is excellent also!
The fruit trees are a great idea and yes this is the best time of year to plant. The way things are going this day and age it's great to have our own on your property. Love your videos. Have a great day enjoy. 🇨🇦
Have heard so much about Petals From the Past from other UA-camrs... MayMay Made It and Simply Lake and Lace to name a couple. Lots of fantastic UA-camrs from the Clanton area! Wish I lived closer so I could frequent his nursery! He is so helpful and I know I could learn a lot from him!
Jason this man is so passionate about his job i love it !!
I live in upstate New York and am trying to raise an orchard also. But because I am in zone 6 I am very limited as to the variety. I would love to be able to have oranges, lemons and avocados also but unless I had a large enough climate control greenhouse that would be the only way. I am so exited for you guys. Little by little you are putting all the pieces together to accomplish your ultimate goal. Also I only have 1/2 acre so not much room to play. LOL
Clara,. Looks like you and I have one year to pack and sell our zone 6 and move to the South and grow our fruits. I am in A.E. MICHIGAN 🀄🌹🌹🀄🛐🛐✝️
But isn't upstate New York the home of Cortland apples?! You can grow apples, right?! I love them but it is too hot here in zone right for most varieties. But the birds planted a black mulberry for me so maybe I will be happy with that!
my friend in Highland, NY deals with the the same problem :p
MS.clara. Starkey bros nursery have master Gardner's that will talk to you and on .5 acre you can plant several fruit trees..1 is boysen berry...several apples n the common plum. ( from up there originally) I'm always homesick at this time..og n crabapples too
@@evalinawarne1337 sounds good to me to be able to plant and enjoy a longer season for harvesting. My neighbors think am crazy. Between the orchard, the vegetable garden and the chickens. And I work full time. Now with pandemic was able to work from home and it made such a difference to be able to go out on my lunch hour and fiddle with the garden and after work no traffic just walk out the back door and continue to enjoy the outdoors. Sorry started rambling there. LOL 😂
What a gem of a nursery! The owner was so helpful and knowledgeable and the plants are of great quality. I’d love to watch more videos of you exploring that place. Loved the content in this video. Thanks Cog Hill Farm!
I really enjoyed the Petals from the Past footage, Mr Powell was really informative. Plus all the beautiful flowers still in bloom! Im in NW Oklahoma, I still have a few flowers still in bloom but most have been hit by frost, it's gotten down into the 20's at night here. Can't wait to see the fruit trees planted and in bloom! Ive got a white mulberry tree, but it's HUGE and I cat get to the fruit, so the birds have it all. Y'all take care!
Finding a business that is knowledgeable about the product that they sell provides the best experience. People wonder why mom and pop/small businesses last for decades. It's because of the knowledge that they share with their customers.
This was a fun video to watch Jason & Brooke. Jason, at the Petals from the Past, was absolutely awesome. I could listen to him all day! ha Your blessed to live close to him so that he can help you develop your fruit trees. Loved this video!
I love petals from the past I could just listen to Mr Jason for hours talk such a nice guy
Wow! That guy is so knowledgeable, informative, and helpful. Jason did you remember everything he said? 😂 I’m saving this video, so I can go back and decide what fruit tree I want. Just need to know which one would be successful in Texas. Have a great day!
I'm taking notes also I live in Georgia 🍑
I saved this video too and it is full of great information. I am in San Augustine, Tx. Thanks for taking us with you to buy your fruit trees.🥰
That is an awesome nursery! Jason is so knowledgeable! I always thought that pears were “mealy” (and I’ve never liked that texture) and mushy. I didn’t know about the ones that are crisp, like an apple. Thank y’all for sharing this trip! I learned a lot! I’m in central Indiana, so, that would be a really long drive! 😃 But, it is tempting to just take off and go! I can’t wait for the vines video! I LOVE blackberries, blueberries and strawberries! I’m looking forward to watching y’all grow all your stuff! Thank you for sharing!! Blessings
This fella is sure passionate about the plants and trees. He’s definitely in the right profession. I bet he loves coming to work.....not like work for him!! 😀
Hi from fort worth tx. I love your videos a lot please dont change I love the way you'll talking to the animals I always wishing the best blessing always. violet medrano.
Good morning Cog 40
When they are dormant, you have to spray to prevent insects and other things. It's best to put a sprinler system while planting. It helps watering and if you get a cold snap, you can spray water on them. My husband had a degree it that and he talked about it. Questions to ask.
Can't wait to see them blooming!! Hope you and Brooke, Mary Carl have a wonderful day!!
So interesting to hear a man so excited about his work! It’s going to be a beautiful fruit garden!
WOW, you have a gem in that nursery.
Very interesting information about all those fruit trees. Man I'm jealous!😂 Thank you for taking us along with you while fruit tree shopping❤ I really did learn me a few things.
HEY ! Good morning !!
Can't wait to see all the new fruits y'all get. Then I can't wait to see what you do with all of them. Also, I so much enjoy your channels.
Our local farmer has had his strawberry beds in place, I want to say for almost 2 months. We are zone 8 also on coast North Carolina.
You should have air-layered the fig and pomegranate trees so that you could plant in pots to transport and plant on Cog40.
You could ask new owners if you could make some air-layers to bring to Cog40.
Air-layers from fruiting trees will fruit from year 1.
It would be so cool if you made some tunnels with cattle panels. Then plant the berries & kiwi on the outside to vine up & over the panels. To make a berry tunnel path to your orchard!
OMG I could listen to that guy talk about plants all day!! Getting so excited to see the fruit orchard come together!!
Dad use to graft two kinds of apples or pears in one tree. When there was room for the other varieties. Elder berry's are good the look like a cluster of berries shape in an umbrella. Very health. We put them along the hedge rows. Currents and Goose berries make nice jellies or jam. Mom use to miss different fruits together. Adding mulberry have to colors white is sweeter than purple. Dad and mom and grandparents use to put some rotten manure in the bottom of the hole with a light layer of soil to help with growing. Plus spread the root system out away from the plant to help with stability and prevent root binding. The trees that we didn't do that leaned over in the wind and grew crooked or fell over. Also in I use to put fresh manure around the trees 3 feet to add nutrients to the soil to help growth and production. Not alot. Take a Pitchfork and fling let fall where it goes.
So jealous of your future fruit crop! How exciting!!
I love the way the 3 of them work together and learning from others and each other.
They are a Wonderful Team.
GO! Cog Hill Farm Team
I loved how he was shopping for Jason and kept saying "oh!, I like this one better!" Searched out the best possible one.
I could spend a day picking that mans brain. He would be so helpful in learning about planting fruit trees. Thank you for the experience of going to a place where they are there to help meet your needs.
What an awesome nursery. You can tell he really loves what he's doing. He just gets so excited going over all of the different things that you need to do & need to know. I can see why God go there.
Here in CT I have blackberries that grow wild on my property. Delicious, but oh the thorns, I was going to worn you ( like you didn’t know 🙄) and then I heard thornless ~ what a world we live in 🌻💫!
My daughter has wild blackberries growing across the road from her house. My granddaughters were my two little helpers, they would let me know if I was getting too close to the thorns. Hahaha they were so worried about me 🥰🥰
And yes, so delicious 😋
In central Alabama I grew purple concord grapes. They were out standing. Eating an jelly. I recommend you try.
You all are so lucky to have such an expert who so very much enjoys sharing his knowledge 😊
I love how your garden guy talks about your garden like its part his too so lovingly invested😍
What a wonderful nurseryman! I’d shop there if I lived with an hour or so! He’s so happy and knowledgeable. Shop local! It’s worth it!
My mama was from Luvern, AL area in a community called Goshin. Her sister lived on her husband 100 year old farm. They had a large area for the chickens which housed the coop, the outhouse and a huge muscadine trellis. It wasn't too tall, but it gave the chickens shade and the family lots of jelly. They never had a problem with rotting grapes on the ground because the chickens ate them.
I wonder if the "Chicken Dance" came from the ceramas. I did go to youtube and look up their dancing....THEY ARE SOOOO BEAUTIFUL! MaryCarl is AMAZING with her knowledge and is a natural born teacher about everything feathered! Love what you are doing with the fruit trees and the whole orchard idea. That is awesome! Will you be canning fruit/jellies/jams and sell them?
Up
They usually freeze dry their fruits
Gotta love his passion about the fruit trees, and respect the fact that he was looking for the best trees!
Omygosh!! How excited I got watching this!! I’m in zone 7 here in the foothills of NC and I can grow an do grow a lot of the same plant’s!! Was standing in my kitchen watching your channel as I looked out to see the blue bird’s eating off of my Beauty-berry bush when you and MC was talking about the one that looked so much like mine but a different breed. Going to look into that. I’m so HAPPY to see you guy’s getting plant’s to start and the same love I have for mine!! Thanks for making my day once again!
Was neat, looking forward to seeing the auger get busy and plant them. Be well.
Jason i have not tried a fig but this man has got me convicted i need to try one !!
I just love Petals from the Past !!! You are right, Jason is a wealth of knowledge !!! I cant wait to see your fruit orchard grow !!!
Love to see someone so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their job..I'm also a bit jealous of all the fruit trees you can grow.

I have to say that ALL the Animals seem to be doing SO MUCH BETTER! They are Loving the Cog 40 TOO!
Yes, Peaches has more pep, the goats seem calmer, and all the fowl appear content.
I love that little black cat.Tucker has the sweetest personality. She really loves her humans.
He sounds amazing and his description of the fruit had my mouth watering. Can't wait to see you planting them.
Knowing when to plant and what to plant for your area is key to a great harvest. I enjoyed your conversation with the nurseryman. He knows his trees and berries. And you know yours also, Jason. I am excited to see you plant these trees in the future.
My uncle built a grape harbor. He used two 6x6 post. On each post he had a 4’ board to make a T. He connected it with 8’ boards. He also used wire that has large openings across the top. He only had one vine at each post. The favorite place for all was standing under the harbor and picking the delicious grapes. It is amazing how many grapes come from two vines. Greetings from Southeastern Kentucky.
