It is a bit wholesome that legend both talks to us the audience and at his troops at the same time. Like he tells the handgunners to be ready to start shooting again. Feels like a propper commander
This is me, but without the "proper" bit. I've yelled at my gunpowder units to "FIRE, IDIOTS!" plenty of times (but I swear it works).

@@hooktraining3966 Never, sounds like a skill issue lmao. Only time they do that is if you are litteraly out of ammo, have the melee mode on or use the ALT key to switch your click to a melee attack.

handgunners being a tier ii unit instead of tier iii now makes empire much more fun early on
I love when CA buffs units in campaign like that (within reason of course).
I remember when they reduced the tier of Ushabti for tomb kings and the campaign felt so much more rewarding.
Makes Crossbowmen feel entirely redundant unless you want to not bother with firing lanes for your soldiers
Yeah I still use X Bow for back line, no need ot worry about lanes or line of sight but certainly a lot less than I used to

One very weird, almost useless but interesting information I learned about army losses is that even fatigue is counted for it. One siege battle I decided to pull my army back to rest before doing the final charge. Just the process of waiting for the soldiers to recover their fatigue was enough to trigger army losses. It was really interesting. I didn't fight any other units, cast spells, or use artillery while waiting my troops to recover.
Perfect vigor is so powerful for that exact reason
With vampires you encounter this more often, though it is more blatant with the additional raising the dead that you do during resting.
@@GafferPerkele I agree. I think it has to do with the melee stats. Lower stamina means lower stats. So maybe having them grow as the troops rest gives the extra push that makes trigger army losses.

I love guns. The feeling of enemy army dissapearing is so good. I mostly play vamp coast, so my army is guns, guns and canons.

Ngl I've been struggling with Coast earlygame these past few campaigns I've tried with them, and I'm not sure why. Any tips? I can't seem to make enough income/win battles decisively enough to cover a second army which is pretty brutal with the mods I play with.
@@alexscholz3438 well i play vanilla tww2. But i heard they didnt change vamp coast in 3 but im not shure. Get handgunners as your frontline and learn some gun formations like checkerboard or shevron, because guns are your main source of damage. Usually i try get a morghul haunter or gunnery white in every army, but vampire or deep lore caster will do too. A couple of monsters like crabs or morghules, try for yourself what you find more comfortable. And artillery, usually i go 2 morrars (or 1 mortar 1 queen bess, get queen bess asap, this gun will win battles if used properly) and 2 canons. Later you can replace canons with necrofecs collossus, and your melee line with depth guard. Early game will not be ahrd with queen bess practicly obliterating anything(just be carefull not to shoot it at quick units while theyre on the move), in sieges just break one tower near the edge of the map and get gunnery white to give ammo to bess, whats left probably could be finished with lords and heroes, but if you got a genuene melee unit go ham after yo spent all the ammo. For legendary lords and the ones you get through research get the artillery building asap, you get an extra army ability from it, and keep upgrading it, free spells is free spells. And if you want to, get the replenishment building in the horde, youll get necrofecs recruitment in like 1-2 turns right on the army if you want a doomstack of them. Leviathans are good too. Protect you gun line and keep them firing into the enemy troops and youll be golden. Also watch put for enemy ranged units, undead dont take well to being shot, especially with magic or fire. You can get some ethereal units like sirens for the frontline, but just not against magic. I guess thats the sum of it, further is more about different lords and what they buff in their faction. It's actually ironic that Zhufbar finished off that army. In the lore Zhufbar is to the dwarfs what Nuln is to the Empire. I can imagine that after witnessing what Elspeth just did, the king of Zhufbar would immediately fall in love and run to help ;) Well done Legend, that was incredible
Wurrzag declared war on me very early in my Elspeth campaign, despite not being anywhere near bordering me, and proceeded to send all his armies to attack me despite Skarbrand attacking him. The same thing from Queek, at basically the same time. They both just kept sending armies through a ton of enemy territory to attack me. Eventually Belegar took over the Southern Princes territory and he and Settra just kind of stomped them out.
The anti-player bias is still pretty heavy, but I guess it's one of the only ways you can really up the difficulty for the player.
They could also just give chaos factions a buff if you play an order faction, or vice versa when you play chaos.
This way when you consolidate you run into a green waaaaggghhhhh that's almost completely wiped out the dawi.
There has to be some anti player bias as otherwise every enemy would remain on 3 settlements and a level 1 LL when you meet them. I killed Karl Franz when he was lev 16, so in theory he gained no XP from that fight, when he respawned he was level 25. My only real gripe with the anti player bias is they get a speed hack. My marauders have 95 speed and are ALWAYS caught up by empire cav/heroes with 78 speed, it's such blatant cheating it makes me angry.
@@Lones555 about karl franz my guess is he just fought some other battles in the mean time, all characters players included get some passive exp but to get 9lvl it would take so much time you'd have time to conquer the world. about the speed there is no cheat the only stat cheat the ai get is if you give it to them in your campaign setting before starting it, the cav manage to temporarely outspeed your marauders because of the charge bonus speed they have if you run away from them, or possibly your marauders being tired or not running or a combination of theses but no addition of stats cheat for the ai more than it is shown
I fucked over Wulfrik in a Malakai campaign. I had taken the Norsca settlements to complete that grudge but I was getting attacked all over and couldn’t hold them. Luckily I managed one turn with all required. So instead of trying to keep them I just started selling them one by one to Kostaltyn. Wulfrik was also at war with him but as I sold the settlements one per turn he kept marching past Kostaltyn’s new settlement to try to get to my next one. In the end it was Kostaltyn that destroyed Wulfrik
You can add a mod to remove the anti player bias but it WILL make the game easier

I like having one witch hunter in a gun army, because of their ability to decrease enemies physical and missile resistances.
I mentioned it before, but here's a tip for Elspeth with the dragon: You can use the breath attack (Coruscating Blast) freely and without cooldown if you use another ability or spell while the Dragon is locked in place and the cooldown hasn't started yet. At 12:56 there is a 1-2 second cooldown, if you use any other spell or ability in that timeframe the dragon still attack and it also use the other ability at the same time.
That's sounds awful... I mean, her dragon breath is not a breath - it's f0king molecular desintegrator plasma fusion laser9000, ridiculous sh1t on its own.
And u tell, that this can get unlimited no cd uses xD

You very much hit a point where never get close to running out of ammo. Engineer lord gives a few bonuses to it, tech tree gives more, workshop gives even more, and refills on horses, wagons, or engineers fill in the gaps. Mid to end game gun armies don't even think about ammo anymore.@@kindredhunter1887

There hasn’t been a grudge this serious since the ruler of Ostermark shorted the dwarf engineers two pennies for the castle they built him.

Honestly your battlefield command and control was a thing of beauty. Impressive work and it’s astounding you managed to pull it off with quite minor casualties.
Bravo. A really cool battle. I like the pistoliers with Nuln a lot, that restock is so good, gives them a lot value giving your arty and gunline more powder. Also running enemies down with them gives you more schematics to use.
Always satisfying to listen to empire fighting.

This is a great battle to write a short narrative for. Imagine the anxirty of the chaotic first charge, then being a handgunner during the lull, taking drink, receiving ammunition from the pistoliers and quick maintenance from the engineer. Meanwhile, The Dark Lady is ever-present overhead, constantly withering ork heroes into dust and ash. Reinforcements are coming from the nearby village, we must hold until they can make it...
The gunners would be in good spirits as wave upon wave of disorganized greenies charge to their doom on this lovely field.

The sheer number of kills the Ironsiders got over the handgunners. Sometimes I wonder if they’re worth the loss of 30 models, but then they remind me that they are.

Orc shamans has been pain in the arse in WH 3 with their unmissable 500 m gaze of mork spam , i always target them first
And then every time YOU use the damn spell it either gets stuck casting or just smashes into the terrain...
Orc magic is so annoying with their quite powerful low cd, low cost spells that the AI just seems to use better than any player and also more often.
I do wonder if the AI gets some hidden CD and WoMs cheats.

Brilliant ammo management, perfect.
I always use small gaps between lines if I have second line of gunners. If it gets to full contact and some enemies overflow over gap, they are as good as death. It also extent your battle line length. To avoid wind spells however, it is not enough space to be effective.

Witch Hunters are now kinda worthy to be in armies because of the 33% vigor lost reduction for whole army vs greenskins and most chaos forces (I assume having 3 would be like having Perfect Vigor) and/or the 20% ambush defense change, but if it was on me they could be buffed for combat like giving them 10 more move speed (I know they are not getting a mount so them moving at like 45 move speed would be nice and believable considering they are light armored and use quick weapons) and/or the actual thing I would like is to have them dual wield pistols to double the dps a la Saltzpire, and when go in melee they go back to having one pistol and the Rapier.

Hi I'm a recent immigrant to your channel from Turin - forgive my curiousness if this has been asked before but do you have no interest in the damage values of units? It kills me that I didn't see the value of the Nuln Ironsides lol
the first time I regestered army losses was in warhammer one where I had one stack of dwarfs against 3 stacks of vampire counts. I just barely killed the fist 2 stacks and thought I had won the game then saw the 3rd stack of elite units grave gard cript horrors, blood knights ect. I had under 100 dwarfs left and next too no amo then the undead got within 100m of my men and disintegrated it was amazing.
Shogun 2 experience paying for itself!
Defense in depth ftw. Chaos and especially greenskins/ogres/norsca feel pretty mild with their mostly melee rosters. Truly, warhammer has moved to the age of ranged combat (and a bit of blitzkrieg with monsters, admittedly)

Mechanical steed should have speed buffed and/or just have perfect vigour so it can never go below it's speed naturally. I still use it because it looks cool and atleast has more armor and melee stats.
I literally had a similar issue but it was like turn 14. 4 freakin full stacks of green skins came out of the mountains and smashed my army to bits. I went back and recruited 6 Knights of the Black Rose and outriders and an emperor's wrath, then rolled all four stacks of green skins into body bags.
Is it better to focus on more handgunners than nuln ironsides? I do know that nuln ironsides has 30 less units but they got the better damage and the reload and accuracey buff when staying still so they can shoot faster and hit easier. But more entities means more firepower output so... How would you build an army with them?
did they patched elspeth infinite laser? with that, shes always killing all single entities quite easily
If you want a little exploit with the laser breath where if you cast Spirit Leech mid cast of the breath it doesn't use a charge or go on cool down - you can delete lords with it

It will mostly play out as chaos dwarf fireglaves.
Before the ability was removed by the mod author, I used the warband upgrade mod to get Elspeth a full Amethyst Ironsider/Outrider/Hellstorm stack with a few long rifles for medium range. It was brutal as
Engi lord. Nuln ironsides fronline. Long rifles in the back with a great cannon. Army held off chaos dwarves and even a 3 stack of them. Up until I traded in for a steamyank frontline.
My favorite army comp for Elspeth is 6 amethyst iron sides, 4 hochland long rifles, 4 hellstorm rocket batteries with at least 3 engineer heroes with the long rifle trait, last two spots can be what ever you want. It's devastating.

About that Witch Hunter in the army, I assume that the guy has him in the army for the same reason as I do - increasing the post battle loot.

I prefer to place the gun units deep instead of wide, because they don't friendly fire themselves - so either all in one line or similiar to a checkerboard with more space inbetween for two lines. Way less friendly fire.

@@DIEGhostfish All Infantry gun units where the double line formation would result in a lot of friendly fire. If the hill is steep enough or the enemies are coming down a hill it might not be necessary - but i generally place them either wide or in a square with some space between the units so they can turn fast (sides of formations for example)

I pretty much just turn off hellstroms fire at will the moment the enemy gets close. Wish there were more options for target selection such as "prioritize range/melee/cavalry etc
Would this battle be easier with streltsi? The stats of streltsi seem better but there is something on hand gunner that i dont understand
Streltsi have the exact same missile DPS and range as handgunners. They have a little less ammo though and Kislev doesn't have restock ability, or good artillery

I wonder how would people react to AI that would be actually intelligent and could adapt to situation to prioritize different units instead of just heroes, to recognize that the biggest DPS is on the backline and ignore frontline.

Had the similar battle but managed to bait AI with another lord that has less "powerful" army, full of pistoliers.
Lets find some coffee to active brain mode. Ok range stand off is a great thing paired to AoE and CC magic to delight odds = Deny terrain. . Von Draks true enemy would be a mystery date w Imrik;3
