Usually people require a short turn around time on these things however, and so as long as you're not hammering on the actual ball (like I've seen some 'professional mechanics' do) and only the housing then no damage will be done and you can turn the vehicle around in minimum time.

I'm sorry I don't really understand the question. The van is RWD so there is no driveshaft forward?
