22TCM has been around for at least 10 years. It was developed by Armscor and offered in Rock Island 1911 style pistols for years. There is another round they developed that is only available to the Philippine Army since they found out it was a semi armor piercing round although not developed as such Rick Island also makes a bolt action rifle for the cartridge which is great out to about 100-125 meters. Will reach 2200fps in a full size 5” barrel 1911
Wow!!!
This is a great UA-cam comment.

Imagine that would you look at that specially coming up 4th of July weekend
This is the smaller 22 TCM. The COAL is shorter so it fits into a 9mm-length magazine. The original 22 TCM was longer, and gave actual 2K FPS out of a handgun. A lot of people credit the 5.7 with doing that, but the 5.7 advertised velocities are for the P90, not the handgun.
-
I had a 22 TCM and sold it, because I got tired of expensive ammo, and while the recoil was really, really low ... the concussion was more-or-less rifle in magnitude.
-
The one area where a 22 TCM has the chance to really shine is with a semi-auto, short-barreled rifle. One was in-the-works from at least one company, but it never went to market.
-
This little round will punch through steel that a 9mm or 45 would only scuff.
I'd like to see what ammo manufacturers could really do with the 22tcm. What would a hornaday or speer gold dot do. 22tcm could be a formidable defensive caliber with modern bullet technology.
Or the .22 from With a Lehigh penetrate or extreme defender style bullet!
I'd like to see what Underwood could do with it.
Glaser saftey ammo would either be really interesting or horrible. Im not sure if that is made in .22 though.
Love the 22tcm it has been around for several years now. For those that want to spice up that 9mm without changing calibers I highly recommend the liberty civil defense 9mm+ p. Thos is a smoking hot 50grain lead free hollow point nickle plated copper projectile. 2040fps out of a 4 in barrel. I just wish I could get more but right now it is damn near impossible to get and we take anything we can find right now. . This stuff will totally defeat level 3a body armor. I know my hk94 made watermelon soup with one. I only got 11 rounds left and they are all in my HK vp9sk. I will buy more when and if things ever return to normal. Watch some videos on this stuff it is pretty amazing
Finally got to fully watch this video. I still think it's pretty fucking cool! Love the videos man keep them coming, hope one day your content gets the exposure it deserves.
Why did they stop at .22? Hell I want to see a .17 in a necked down .40
.17 wsssm
Why not a .45 or .50 down to a .22 or .17?
I wanna see a .17 hornet in a 308 case. But I'm pretty sure the temp spike from the powder and the velocity would melt the lead
Whoahh that have that for glocks
9x25 Dillon is a 10mm necked to 9mm. Would love to see that necked down to.22
Like your approach. You go right to it and don't waste time.
I've seen the conversion kits have cuts in the slide. How well has it functioned over time with the factory frame?
I have the RIA 1911 version of the 22 TCM. Very effective penetrator. Mine will pierce 3/8” falling steel targets at 40 yards. Surprising performance. My Q Radar units shows my rounds traveling in the 1830 FPS range from a 5 inch barrel.

Ephraim Olivas so is .223
.22 on whey protein maybe. 5.56 would be juicing, .22-250 would be balding heart attack steroids.
It also zips through soft body armor like a hot knife through butter. Safe Life is the only one that defeats the round

This is an awesome little round. I bought a Rock Island 1911 A2 a few years back chambered in 22 TCM, and also came with a 9mm barrel and spring. Low recoil, accurate, reliable, u can even get long guns chambered with 22 TCM.
@@listenmore2073 I know it's not a 30 caliber, but it is reliable. From the gel tests I've seen and other ballistics I'd b worried more about the person on the other side of what I'm shooting. The only thing I don't like is the lack of variety in ammo.

Yes, my pineapples usually have tannerite in them as well.
I have RIA's 2011 with the 5" barrel and it consistently chronos at over 2100 fps. on the box I believe it says 2050 fps but I'm guessing they either lowballed it or its the shorter barrel version of what I have...this thing sets off tannerite at 50' away. Its an awesome gun to shoot with a huge fireball out of the barrel.
@@jasonnichols7813 I have learned that the 2 main factors with Tannerite are velocity and shot placement. Generally the higher the velocity the better but most times anything over 2000 FPS works as long as you hit the Tannerite dead center. You want to try and hit the tannerite at it's widest point so it spreads the bullets energy evenly. 7.62 should be going fast enough unless the target was really far and the bullet lost too much velocity. Once in a while you do get a dud unfortunately. I have set it off with 17hmr, 22wmr, 5.56, 22tcm pistol and rifle. I now use my RIA 22 TCM rifle almost always now. I would try and keep the velocity over 2200 fps to be safe.
That round is sizzling down range. The report and the impact sound were nearly simultaneous.

This round kinda got buried by 5.7x28, but I really wish it would catch on as well.

I will never buy anything from that company again. My 1911 would not stop breaking. I sent it back twice and only shot about 100 rounds through it.
"........then it must be good ", that almost sounds like a breakfast cereal commercial.😃
Have followed the round since rock island did the 9mm 22tcm 1911. Been hoping for more ammo and defense ammo. Would love to give it a try.
Original 22TCM rounds were close to 2000fps, but there were case expansion issues, so they backed off the charge a bit. Fun to shoot in low light!
What the heck kinda pineapples do you guys grow over there?!?!
I'm guessing the tannerite filled kind, LOL
That is an amazing 22 no doubt. I did a search for ammo and I the one you found is the only manufacturer. Definitely a power house as close as I can figure it has 276 Energy Foot Pounds which puts it just below the average 9mm round at like 335 to 360 Energy Foot Pounds. That is a good round!
This round is the 9r version of the 22tcm, which is slightly modified to fit in a regular 9mm mag. The "regular" 22tcm round reaches velocities upwards of 2000 fps when fired from a 5 inch barrel ( like the one in the RIA 1911, it's original platform) thus yielding muzzle energy around 360 ft lbs.
RIA/Armscor has a 2-1 Pistol 1911 interchangeable barrel for 9mm and 22TCM , They sell ammo too. Price range is 585-650 USD at most.

those are pretty cool, Would you say it close to what a 5.7x28 willl do. I think so, plus there is some really cool ap 5.7 ammo out there
The ol’ exploding pineapple trick
And a good way to get kids shooting a couple rounds with you as beginners
Why would you need the 22 tcm for kids, the recoil when he was shooting looked similar to 9mm, and during a normal year the ammo is probably just as, if not more expensive
That's actually really awesome. Max expansion at like 2.5" deep and it keeps moving for 10 more inches. I'd love to see how it performs out of a longer barrel cause I'm all about small and super fast projectiles that expand that shallow. Perfect for groundhogs.
Probably a little late. But this fires the 22tcm9r which is modified from the original 22tcm to be able to work in pistols like the glock. If you get a 22tcm 1911 with a 5 inch barrel you'll notice the ammo is slightly different in design and it's about 1 grain heavier. In a 5 inch barrel of a 1911 the 22tcm does anywhere between 2000 and 2100 fps depending on ambient changes. Armscorp also has a bolt action rifle that bumps those numbers up to around 2600-2700 fps. Which is pretty spicy for a handgun round. That's SBR223 territory right there. which makes sense since the original parent case of the 22tcm was a 223. Making this effectively just a 223 short.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the video! You inspired me, so I bought one. Mine shoots a little high at 10 yards and little better at 25 yrds if I shoot steel it’s a none issue but I shoot precision, so I’m sort of picky. While waiting the 9R ammo, I just filed down tips on 22TCM so they would feed in my 19. The accuracy is good enough for steel
In the vid, he didn't have any issues. How about you, any FTE's or FTF's?
steelrhog once I got the 9r ammo I had no issues; however at 10 yrds shooting 116 gr Blazer from the bench I get a consistent 1-1.5 inch group dead center. When switching the barrel the group shifts left 2.5 and 3 inches high. Since I don’t use that barrel a lot it’s not worth the effort to adjust the sights.

Hoarding. Lol 🤦♂️

@@anangryranger I'm not trying to be offensive, but if you didn't learn your lesson and adapt, then you deserve what you're going through now. Too many people are complaining.
Did you just dropped the barrel? Or spring too?
My handloaded '9R fired from the G17 barrel generally averages just below 2,000 fps using nickel plated cases which is the major "improvement" made to insure reliable extraction of cases. The TCM needs a very smooth chamber - even polished, to extract well, and Armscor's aftermarket barrels run the gamut from smooth enough to genuinely rough chambers on the MAPP barrels that grip a fired case like sandpaper!
My first barrel was for a G19 and I had no factory ammo thanks to a local dearth combined with CA's new law against mail order, so I was forced to handload for it which turned out to be major undertaking because at the time I got interested in the TCM, Armscor's 39 grain bullets were not available - the 40gr versions were but they don't work for the '9R!
I learned from handloading that light loads don't work - the TCM/9R demands a lot of powder in order to cycle pistol actions built for the 9mm, and the chamber walls need to be smooth. I fitted a MAPP1 FS barrel to my CZ75B .40S&W and the gun refused to extract. When I hammered out the fired case it looked "frosted" due to the roughness of the chamber surface. Long story short I ended up aggressively polishing the chamber with a felt Dremel tip and compound to transform the chamber into fully polished and lo and behold, suddenly the gun extracted perfectly (chambering has always been flawless), and became a wonderful shooter! The MAPP barrels are chrome plated and rough - I bought two more - one for my MAPP1 full size and one for my mid size and both came with rough chambers as well. All the Glock barrels have been basic blue appearing steel with very smooth chambers that didn't require Dremel work to make reliable.
The major advantage to the .22 TCM9R OVER the 9mm is as shown in this video - same wound channel, much faster, easily defeats CAR bodies and body armor that stops the 9mm, and each round weighs half as much, recoil is about half as much, and chambering effort is not greater than that needed to chamber the average .22LR pistol! With Gen 5 +2 mags my G17 holds 20, which means the G19 can also hold 20, or the stock 15+1. My CZ holds 20 with the blue follower 17 round mags with +2 base. Of course the Glocks can accept 30 round mags.
The TCM will punch a hole through 10 gauge steel the 9mm barely bulges and that could make the difference.
God bless America!!! What else should I say?
Fel Ta Amen
Imagine the 357 magnum necked down the same way.
