- Mike got this amazing Morris Minor, an iconic British vehicle. But its wood structure might need a lot more work than he thought.

The whole reason why I watched Wheeler Dealers to begin with is because of of Edd. His brilliance at working with the Automobiles kept me coming back for more.
Hes the Don
Edd is great , but I think Ant's pretty good as well.
But Edds gone now, so dont you watch it anymore?
Ah, the days when "Wheeler Dealers" was actually worth watching.
You are so right, wish Edd was doing something on the same lines
So right, I've given Ant a couple seasons now but don't care for him. The show has lost its charm. I hope it's an act but the cast him as kind of fool when him and Mike interact. My vote is Mr. China
One of the best restorations in wheeler Dealers and they made it look so easy.
While it certainly is not...
That's because they just needed to head to Home Depot lol.
Unfortunately it was just entertainment totally out of their capabilities on this one ,still respect to edd weeks of work ,there was a reason Morris employed qualified chippies on the Traveller production
@@waynegazard5038 Edd never did 'weeks of work' on the show! I edited this one.... Paul the mechanic did weeks of it.
I love this. I've been very sick for the past two years. Bad times. But watching these old Wheeler Dealer shows takes me to a time when I was care free. I miss flipping channels and seeing Edd working on these odd British cars.
Get well soon bud, stick in there, better times ahead for you I’m sure.
Lovely old motor. I had one the same during the seventies. It never let me down and was my daily transport for a couple of years. Great job Ed, as always!
This my first episode I see of wheelers dealers them I has 4 years old,now I have 14, and I never lose one episode
I enjoyed watching a master craftsman doing meticulous work. Bravo!
Awww, I’m so happy to see that Ed had his own Pete-mate😊
Still on the road to this day!
By heck....as a boy reporter for a year I drove all over north Yorkshire in one of these (Mind you I needed to change the oil twice...and topped up with petrol once...) A truly great piece of machiery
Edd China tells it so interestingly.
MotorTrend needs to give him his own show!
Ed your a legend, love your attention to detail 👌
My first car was a green mini traveller :D I've always wanted a Morris - this was a fantastic job!
Brilliant job for the lovely little motor top marks !!!
Sorry Mike, but Season 22 is shaping up to be a real turd. I've tried on and off to watch since Edd's departure, but ...you should _really_ consider burying the hatchet with Edd and Make Wheeler Dealers Great Again!
ZF G - I agree completely.
But every interview I see with Edd where he is asked if he would go back to WD? He basically says 'nope..that part of my life is over.'
@@McRocket MotorTrend should give him his own show then. I guess I can see where Mike would probably be a bit difficult to work with.
@@truckerenoch8824 Sounds GREAT!!! You should propose it to them...maybe they would let you co-produce it. Seriously.
We gotta get Edd back on the air doing what he does best - what's in this video.
The new American producers are fixing what wasn't broken . Typical .
@@georgeelmerdenbrough6906 Yes, the show was in America, but No, the producers weren't and aren't American. 🙄
If you're going to be a bigot, at least get your facts straight!
Perdon no se ingles, te digo que veo todos tus programas, eres el mejor mecanico del mundo, te veo en donde puedo ... saludos desde Arequipa, Peru ... eres el mejor de mundo
Classic car lovely we need more old cars like this
Congrats on a amazing restoation jobs-well done!
Bravo edd, elle est magnifique !!!!
Always good to watch ed s renovations. Does everything to perfection. Rog brown. Pacific sunset records.
This was a great episode.
I had to speak to the guy in my town who owned the only Morris Minor in my region . I got sense that it was common for people to ask a list of questions . These are truly rare in Louisiana . 28 years later I still have not seen another .
I would not want to have one , though . Woodies are great looking cars but the amount of upkeep on them make them a giant pain in the arse . Louisiana is a sea level , river laden steambox of a state . I imagine there would be a lot of rot and swelling .
Excellent work
nice video and nice to know you are working again
Wonderful job!
My very first car was a green 58 woody. I loved it.👍😍
Very brief synopsis... Lots of blood sweat and tears were left out I'm sure
Looks great good job
beautiful!
This is just awesome
This car has an interesting MOT history
Have you got a tv contract yet or have i missed out somewhere, your the guy, love your work and the way you take time to explain it all, yes every single stage of the operation, cheers edd, and please keep it up.PS the morris 1000, i have owned ,and driven all three versions, mostly thought the vans for plumbing, etc. thanks for all your progs.
He hasn't, but he has a new-ish youtube channel called workshop diaries. Go check it out.
My father changed a few morris, van, saloon and estate in 70s to 80s ... his favourite brand... To be honest I was a little embarrassed as a kid since others switch to Datsun, Mazda ...with modern car look. Now, how I wish to own one of this care.
"should it rain". Good one Edd.
When I lived in the UK my next door neighbor had a blue one ,him and his wife used to take it out every Sunday, then he clean it back in the garage till next Sunday
Best of the best!!!! Good job!!!! Amazing!!!! Respect from Ukraine!!!
There's one here on craigslist for like 2 grand that's solid with a new rebuilt motor and the old one included along with many new parts.
That Morris would look great as a mini truck
Yeah it really would, can imagine it being a proper deep job with the wood though, with all the modifications
Actually yes mate!
what happened to the footage shot at the workshop that made the new wood frames?
Looks beautiful when done!, I worked on a 1969 very rare "Austin" badge'd Morris van, on my channel, a tight budget restoration for the owner, but the van looked very smart when done, so if your into these type of vehicles you might like my video slideshow, of what I understand is one of only 7 surviving "Austin built vans". or maybe the 1974 Ford Cortina Mk.3 restoration of a very rare model version also, which is a vast restoration, very fe, if any would of tackled.
Wow !Edd is come back?
Hey Ed,,wheres this mobile fitting service for the headlining need mine doin,,
The Moggy Traveller is still on the road.
Nice restoration...a lovely car. However is there any kind of sound insulation in this vehicle?
Very nice... My parents had Morris Minor for a brief time in the mid 60s in Calif.. I don’t remember the circumstances on how they acquired it. It wasn’t this model. It was a great little car..
Come back EDD , also in Germany please !
Subscribe to his channel. He's knocking on the door of 1M subscribers

We used to own a 4-door Sedan Grey Minor in the early 60's. Two Adults, 3 Kids in the back and Mum holding the Baby and not a seatbelt in site . And with many Cars on the road with no crumple zones, brakes that fade terribly it would mean carnage even for a minor accident. But we were lucky and cars accelerated and travelled so slowly with Drivers who had to have the skills to drive Manuals(some with no synchromesh) no power steering, stability control etc they drove within their limits.
Frankly, I have not seen a Minor involved in a serious accident and there used to be a lot if them in my part of the world, India, when I was young.
I had one I paid $50 for in 1973 when I was in 82nd airborne at ft Bragg fun little car. then I got a 440 magnum 68 for $700 if we only knew then to keep all those or buy a cobra for $4k
*Um belo carro*
How did you dry the wood ?
What happened to the middle bit...doing the wood frame
👍 nice 👍
Big Edd!
Good episode just one thing it's not a Morris minor it's a Morris traveller.
A Traveller is a Minor. That's why the badge on the rear says MINOR 1000.
All the mechanics got older and grey hair but fatboy still has his 'original' colour. The weight he put on in the Ant series is incredible and I'm surprised he allowed some of the video of all the fat around his neck to go out. I love the show and appreciate all the mechanics equally as they all took a different spin but Elvis does stand out for his greater technical knowledge. I watch repeats all the time while I'm eating my tea.
Respect to Edd, Ant & Elvis!
so there is no foam pad under the roof ?
My dad had one ion the same colour and I used to spend hours sitting in it as a kid pretending I was driving all manner of places :)
I'd love to put a 1330 motor and a 5 speed in that.
The car has heaps of charm, but wonders why a big commercial maker would produce such a labour intensive model?
well done edd i used to own one,,, you made a lot better job than me,,,,, mines cost me 18 pounds ,, they were the days lol
I wish they would bring them back,I bet they would sell like hot cakes.🇵🇹🇺🇸
Fitting those rear doors to new timber sides and getting everything to line up nicely requires a lot more skill then was mentioned
otherwise a good account of what is involved, but not for the average D I Y er given cost of all the parts involved and what can go wrong in the process.
First time I have seen a 'woody's wood being repaired
They didn't repair it.
In the full episode you see it is fully replaced.
@@jparky1972 You're right, it was indeed replaced, not repaired
How much did it sell for?
💡Poderia ter feito uma picape💡
Hey Ed, would you like to restore mine? The trafficators were covered over in the 80's and need to be restored to their former glory.
I havnt watched the show since Ed left !
I am not sure what we are supposed to do with that information. Should we all hail you for making that choice, or deride you for being so narrow minded? What exactly is your point, or, as I suspect, you don't actually have one?
To go to another level, These cars benefit from an upgraded engine, Like a Nissan with auto transmission, power brakes and airconditioning> I am an Aussie>
Hi Eddy...my car old classic Ford Corsair Consul 1.7 V4 four doors col. Withe year's 1966 in Italy is the perfect English car👍🏼😉
So much wood. I wouldn't want to get into a car accident on the motorway with that thing. Other than that, the car does have a lot of charm and Ed China is the best, as always.
I had a 1958 Morris Traveller back in the day and boy, was it solid. Don't forget it had a proper chassis. One dark and snowy night I was rear-ended by a huge yank tank whilst waiting to turn right from the A66 onto the A1 at Scotch Corner (no roundabout in those days, just a Y-junction). My car suffered a slightly dented rear half-bumper and a broken tail light. Total damage cost: about £1/10/-. The front wing of the other car was pushed back about 3ft and its lovely twin headlights lay smashed on the road. Total damage cost: £hundreds. Vive le Morris!
HE DIDN'T EXPLAIN THE RESTORATION OF THE WOOD FRAME. WAS IT RESTORED OR REPLACED?
As if Edd isn’t talented enough, he’s also a carpenter
I am not sure if the " new" Wheeler Dealer program is still on, but I quit watching it after ED got off the show. Anyone can buy parts, but it takes a real mechanic to fix them in all sorts of creative ways. I loved the show when Ed was on it.
Ed China. The Don
Me gustaría escuchar en castellano
Please ! put the sub-title , it's difficult for old frenchies like me !
thx
You completely skipped / dropped / forgot the repair and replacement of the wood frame - the most interesting bit!
Exactly! - those were my thoughts as well. Did he just replace the wood with new? Was most of it sanded back a refinished? It all looked split new to me. And as for the mechanical side of the car, I think I can assume that none of this was looked at. According to the MOT database, this car has failed almost every year since 2008, right up to failing again in July 2020. And some of these fails were pretty drastic. For a car that has been ''restored''? So - my question that goes above the wood, is, if this was filmed before 2008, then why has it failed the MOT nearly all the time since then? Here are the dates (as found on the DVLA MOT database: www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ )
*MOT failures for ''NPE 615D'' up to current July 2020*

This is so much better without Mike. Ed is the true star and I’m always in awe that he’s never left with a screw (like me) that he has no idea where to put!!
I would love to own a Traveller but they look to be a giant pain in the arse to maintain .
How to tell if you are getting old. When you see the letters WD and are thinking War Department.
When was this car given this ''overhaul'' ? (as in, what year did was this filmed?) - The reason I ask is due to the MOT history of the car for the past 12 years. There were a lot of failures on these tests, and some pretty major ones as well. How is this possible if the car was recently ''restored?''
(Failures for NPE 615D up to current July 2020)
3rd Oct 2008 - Fail
13th Oct 2009 - Fail
25th Oct 2010 - Fail
26th Oct 2011 - Fail
7th Mar 2013 - Fail
18th Mar 2013 - (Re test and Failed)
22nd Aug 2014 - Fail

See what you mean compared with mine: however NPE 615D has done about 85,000 in fifteen years whereas mine's done less than 12,000 in the same time! It does suggest though that the restoration didn't include the tin work underneath, brakes or suspension, i.e. it was made to look good on top. Mine is the opposite although it had new wood about fifteen years ago and was sorted properly underneath about 11 years ago. It's currently been treated to some cosmetic enhancement to the moment just to keep busy. I hope that my son is still driving mine 50 years time! Finally it's good that the owner(s) choose to keep having an MOT every year to prove it's safe to be on the road: it's not compulsory on cars over 40 years that are not too modified, and looking at the failures and the mileage traveled, it's a good job it was regularly tested!
Hi bardar
William,132
Bit of a 'mare' lol
Program went out 19th March 2013, so completed a few months before. MOT 7th March 2013 had the following Failures (plus some advisories)
Offside Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively (8.2.2)
Nearside Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid (8.2.3)
Offside Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid (8.2.3)
Horn not working (1.6.2a)
Nearside Headlamp aim too low (1.8)
Offside Headlamp aim too high (1.8)
Offside Rear Suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded (2.4.A.3)
Offside Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded (5.2.6)
Offside front brake grabbing severely (3.7.A.2b)
Offside rear brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.5a)
rear brake application uneven (3.7.B.2)
Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7) Dangerous
Brakes imbalanced across an axle (3.7.B.5b) Dangerous
Described at sale by Brewer as one of the best, if not the best, Minor Traveller in the country. Cosmetically maybe. I'm sure the new owner was thrilled
Almost all of those faults are very minor and very easy to put right. Well, not by you obviously, but by anyone else who knows how to use a basic tool kit.
Be better off replacing the wood with a composite that won’t rot. Unfortunately, it probably wouldn’t look as good.
Is this now: 2020? If so great to see Edd back without the spiv car salesman.
Ok I'm confused is ed back
Marc Clark Harcourts old videos mate
What did it fetch then!???
C'mon guys, wash the bloody windows before the reveal. Tacky.
I don't think a Morris Minor ever had glory days.
Hold on a minute! What about the mechanical side of things? No good looking good if the 'works' are worn!
Yup - go check out the MOT history for this car. The DVLA has a website where you can check the status and history of any vehicle. It's free to use, just type in the reg no. This Morris goes back to 2005 for MOT history. And since 2008 up until July this year (2020) it has constantly failed on MANY things almost every year. See my comment above for the dates, or, check the website here, and enter NPE 615D - www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
...and you have to wonder why - especially if this car has been ''restored'' in the last 10 years, since this was filmed....
I thought " Moggies " were Morgans ??
'Moggie' has long been used for both.
fail the m o t? it doesn't need one its exempt!
Just clicked on the video 'cause I had a craving for people bitchin' about Edd leaving WD. Haven't even actually started the video. Probably because I know it by heart.
Does Ed get paid for each new showing?
Always thought Edd was the star .....
