7:02, The MG looks like its new again. The refinished wheels look great as well, but a new set of lug nuts should've been used instead or the rusty originals.
Edd’s tip about making a frame with tape, then filling it in would have saved me a lot of frustration many years ago when I was repairing the rocker panels and a rear fender on my 1975 Camero!
Your right Mal Barker, I just finished watching and saw those old rusty colored tire lug nuts back on without a hint of cleaning and possibly painting.
You have to remember, they were doing up a car to make a profit, that was the idea of the show, and in the early days, they were looking at it from the perspective of an amateur mechanic. So no they didn't do the bright work, or the engine bay, they did what was necessary to flip a not to rare car, for some profit.
Always a problem with these older episodes was they would blow the budget on one big job like the paint, then it’s always such a shame when they put grotty components like those pitted chrome window trims and those terrible wheel nuts back onto the car.
That's why his own Workshop Diaries are worth watching (and the reason this site always uploads an Edd video on a Friday, even though they kicked him off the programme years ago).
I'd say more like when was it done ? I just checked it was first aired in 2004 ! no wonder the respray was only a grand, mind you 20 years ago even a grand would have been cheap! I had a Triumph TR7 resprayed by a very cheap garage back around 1992 and they charged me £800 I remember most garages wanted well over £1000 and that was over 30 years ago. Mike must be getting trade rates.
Should have stayed with the blaze, when repainted it would looked as good if not better, plus the interior of boot and engine could have been cleaned up and would have matched perfectly. Comments re lug nuts have already been correct made.
'Moisture' also has a habit of getting everywhere, resulting in 'ROT'! I think I would have put new chromed nuts on the refurbished wheels, or better still gone for 'minilite ' alloys ! dx
Those wheel nuts though... why go to all that effort on the rest of the car to use those rusty wheel nuts. Buy a set for a tenner and it would make a big difference.
Erm good vid..but cost.... so no labour cost... Yes I know a gifted amateur could do it, but unless you wanted it to sit in your garage for years whilst you sorted it whilst actually working for a living the cost is unrealistic....
Mike brewer is a crap car deller he spends money on cars like a range rover cost him 5 grand and spends 5 grand on it and sales it for 11 thousand I my self sele it for lest 15thousend and he sees car fare to cheep after eed do all the work I fill sort for edd

As always, Ed's hard work really shows. Great looking car ! Love your passion for fixing cars. Keep up the good work !
I wish after all his hard work Ed would have replaced those rusty lug nuts…
Came to the comments section looking if anyone else noticed lol
No centre caps either.
I was going to write just that !!! 😉
My exact thought!
Mike is to CHEAP. after all he's a USED CAR DEALER... And it SHOWS!
Your right Mal Barker, I just finished watching and saw those old rusty colored tire lug nuts back on without a hint of cleaning and possibly painting.
No one noticed the headlight surround on the fender (wing) not at all ready for paint?
Open rusty blisters at 2:47.
Crazy
I noticed.
Paint looks great, all the details engine bay and components look utterly shit...
I would have either cleaned up or replaced the lug nuts.
. . . and found some MG wheel centre badges.

Why would you not replace the wheel nuts? Where are the wheel centre caps & the roof aerial?
Note misalignment of bonnet/badge at 6:31.
Untaxed for last 11 years, all that work!

Those wheel nuts are a joke!
Was just thinking the same.
"was they would' just doesn't make sense lad
Ed always has a great video as long as Mike is not in it..

In the early seasons Mike gave you great tips about how to sell your car and/or buy one.
The one thing that kills me with this episode is the grimy brightwork that get bolted back onto the car
It would cost too much to re chrome, and all profit would be lost
@@bobfellows5758 yeah I understand that. It just sucks because it really lets the car down
Edds newspaper trick is as old as having newspaper with your chippy tea
Shame you didn't clean the wheel nuts
this is like a 20 yr old episode. They're not giving 2 shits right now
I was hoping not to see Brewer 🤨 otherwise, the job was just perfect 👍
Superb, shame about the ancient rusty wheel nuts, but beautiful motor.
Young Edd is so cute. 👍
He put the side light/indicator assemblies on backwards!
Why didn't you replace the rusty wheel nuts??
Nice job on the wheels… now, about those lug nuts.
Only £1,000 for a respray ?. Where was it done please ?. Thanks.
I'd say more like when was it done ?

Edd ! # 1!
Ciao e un piacere guardarti ...non mi stanco 🤗🤗
He re-installed rusty lug nuts!! Egad!
"Tupac" paint is the best....

It looks good, except the lug nuts!
Gulivers in giantland?
Why didn’t they refurbish those wheel nuts also?
Haven't seen too many paint jobs!
Hello Edd😁😁
The trafficators / parking lights are upside down, the parking lights should face outwards.
I would have polished the wheel nuts.
Ed China WAS Wheeler Dealers for me. Loved his gentle personality and thoughtful commentary. Stopped watching after he left.
the other half was the "mouth"
We're living in an era where rust is called patina.
Patina: an old English word for cheap and lazy.
'Moisture' also has a habit of getting everywhere, resulting in 'ROT'!
I think I would have put new chromed nuts on the refurbished wheels, or better still gone for 'minilite ' alloys ! dx
Been watching you guys for years but you guys put new wheels on a car but use the old rusted lug nuts you guys could upgrade it to New lug nuts lol
put some vintage cosmics on it
EDD the Car Came out Great Like alway,s 1 Thing is Wrong, Why didnt you put new lug nuts.
quick over-spray🤨.
all that work and they put the wheels back on with rusty nuts and no wheel centre caps
it's an mgb
Those wheel nuts though... why go to all that effort on the rest of the car to use those rusty wheel nuts. Buy a set for a tenner and it would make a big difference.
Cellulose was better.
Change my mind...
Nice job but not a fan of red. Red belongs to the Italian prancing horse and Brittish racing green belongs to classic Brittish cars.
No radiator paint, rusty lug nuts etc! 👎
sentimentality has the best of you. Try a WRX
Erm good vid..but cost.... so no labour cost... Yes I know a gifted amateur could do it, but unless you wanted it to sit in your garage for years whilst you sorted it whilst actually working for a living the cost is unrealistic....
To expensive for new wheel nuts?
All that work and they reused the rusty old lug nuts
all that work and you don't paint or polish the lug nuts
Those rusty wheel nuts look shiiite! 😂
Ha, I thought the same thing. jw
Yes usa people want sweet sugar reds to us a
£100 to fit an mgb gt windscreen. Too cheap.
Cherry red people of eden
All that work and you couldn't spend a few more quid for new lug nuts🤦
😎👍
Funny little sugar evils reds as little funny joy kids
Put the wheels on with rusty nuts and no centres, amateur mistake
