BMP Tuning x Unitronic MK8 Golf R build Pt. 2 // Dyno and 1/4 mile w/ Stage1+ & bolt-ons

- With the help of @unitronic BMP Tuning is out to set the 1/4 mile record for the MK8 Golf R. Join us as we take our new 20th Anniversary MK8 Golf R from stock to everything Unitronic has to offer and beyond to break into the 10-second 1/4 mile realm or less.
In this video, we take our practically stock MK8 Golf R and install Unitronic's intercooler, carbon fiber intake, and dog bone mount to see what horsepower gains we are able to obtain on the dyno with the already installed Stage 1+ tune! Afterward, we put it through a quick 1/4 mile pass with the draggy to see how much time we're able to shave off of our previous time! These simple bolt-ons might surprise you!

Thanks for real and honest info. And actually showing the work. Tuners should be making content like this if they want us to buy their products. Instead of just posting DYNO numbers without any context or correlation to real world 0-60 or 1/4 mile times to set expectations.

The lack of TCU tune seemed to be hurting it though. That extra 40whp / 25wtq doesn’t really show itself in the dragy results, even with better DA. Yes, I know you braked just before the end, but look at 1/8 mile and 1000ft trap speeds. Of course, these results will be more repeatable/consistent with the better intercooler.
C’mon Unitronic…get us that TCU tune ASAP!
TCU solutions are coming, and def. will help us especially when we go Stage 2 DP/MPI/E85

Mine s3 has that pop sound and the s3 I had before has it also.
Yes, you'll def get more aggressive pops out of a tuned MK8
Hows the NVH after the aftermarket dog bone mount? I had the 034 inserts in my MK7 and it was the most polarizing mod I had. Cant make up my mind whether id do it again
Noticeable but not unbearable! Everything else we have is on stage 3 mounts so it feels roll Royce smooth to us lol

Did the intake include a turbo elbow or just a hose?
Just the silicone hose. Lots of testing has determined that an inlet pipe doesn't yield much of a gain on the Golf R specifically.
Any stage 3 options for golf r mk8 / 8y s3?
Not yet, But Im sure its coming and we will be updating soon enough on our MK8 R!

Supposedly the big jump is stage 2 the 8R jumps to ~450hp as where the 7’s where ~400hp

40whp increase but 0 mph in the 1/8? that's a failed in my book. If I spend this much money on bolts ons and have 0mph gain, I'll be pissed.
You have to consider that without a TCU Flash, there is a huge bottle neck in the cars capabilities. If it were an earlier MK8 R with an unlocked TCU, you would see much more of a gain in that area. But for this car in particular were still waiting on the TCU to be unlocked. More on this soon hopefully!
