I’ve recently hit a crossroads, if you will, on texturing of any type. Jerry Miculek made custom grips for his revolver that he used to set multiple world records that were smooth, no texture at all. His reasoning is that you have to move the revolver in hand to do everything you need to do with a revolver, and, if the grips are ergonomically correct, just the grip strength and ergonomics will allow for proper manipulation and function. One of my Steve Callari fixed blades has some slick wooden scales but the ergonomics are such that there’s no way a strongman athlete could pull the knife out of the hand. Sometimes texturing is warranted, but now I’m wondering if it’s just there to overcome some minor design flaws (purely ergonomically speaking). Enough rambling on my part, love the Tyr reblade, very cool and functional looking design and congrats on the next step in your knife building journey with your heat treat oven. Heat treat is one of the most demandingly simple things that is humanly possible to do in my estimation. Hope you and your family have a merry Christmas and an excellent week overall.
@@jeffreydawson4520 JM is the man. He definitely has my respect in everything he says. Ergo’s are a huge part of the equation. Add something like gloves in that equation and everything changes again. Fluids and again it’s a different story. I kinda see it all as situationally requirements. I personally prefer smooth over texture for most of my needs but I have also seen the benefits of texture too. Best of luck in your crossroad journey. Always appreciate your feedback and thoughts bro. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas man hope you guys get some time off. And can’t wait to see what your full collection has turned into this year. And wow that blade you did is killer looking love getting to come along on the ride watching you grow.
I love a good collection video, even if I have to watch it in 2 or the parts because they get long. I recently did 45 minutes just on my slipjoints alone, and that's a small percentage of my overall collection. Maybe I could have shortened it if I didn't blab so much 🤪
@@the_knights_edge done a few of them bro usually have to do a 14” hollow and that doesn’t really change the performance that much but I am definitely down if you wanna do it 😎👊
@@apex_alchemy_knives kinda think it would be cool to send to ya guys to check out even if it’s not a good heat treat. But I need to find out before I try to do anything else so whenever I get it done I’ll hit you up to test it out for me😎👊
Hey Dave. I know it’s probably too long of a process to do for a video but I think it would be cool to see a video about your next reblade even it was just explaining each step and showing what the blade looks like after each step. Not sure if everyone would want to see if but I think it would be cool. Merry Christmas to you and the family
@@coryhessler2631 thanks Cory. Appreciate your support and suggestion. I can certainly try to do one like that. Probably take a while but I will get to it bro👊😎🤘🤘
